Valter Longo is an Italian-American biologist and gerontologist who is a professor of gerontology and biological science at the University of Southern California. He is the director of the USC Longevity Institute and the Program on Longevity and Cancer at IFOM (FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology) in Milan, Italy. Longo is known for his research on the biological mechanisms of aging, and for his work on fasting-mimicking diets, which he claims can promote health and longevity. He has written several books on the subject, including "The Longevity Diet" and "The Fasting Diet". Longo advocates for periodic fasting as a way to promote overall health and prevent disease. He believes that intermittent fasting, which involves limiting food intake to certain times of day or certain days of the week, can help reduce inflammation, improve metabolic health, and promote cellular repair and regeneration. In today's episode, we focus on intermittent fasting.
In this segment we discuss one of the biggest resolutions and a strategy on how to stick with it. One of the key pillars that can help is intermittent fasting. I share some of the top reasons why intermittent fasting is not only highly effective but also incredibly efficient. One of the perks of this dietary plan is that there's no special requirements or additional time & cost needed.

Branded as the “fasting plan that lets you eat”, ProLon is a 5-day subscription dietary program that is designed to support healthy aging. Compared to more traditional fasting regimes where one goes many hours without food, ProLon allows you to consume a small amount of calories every day. It's based off a concept called The Fasting Mimicking Diet which tricks your body into thinking it's fasting when in reality you are eating. The benefit? A younger you (on the inside). But if this sounds too good to be true, know you are not alone in your skepticism. Tune in to uncover the truth about this latest diet craze. Want to recommend an episode topic? It's the season of New Year's resolutions where many people are thinking about getting fitter but many rapid weight loss plans have been criticised as being ineffective after an initial period of weight loss. Dr Michael Mosley's new book called The Fast 800 Keto builds on two diet trends, intermittent fasting and calorie restrictions and the high fat, low carbohydrate keto diet.
We go into spurts and phases where certain diets, diet plans are all the rage. For a while it was keto which is still around. Intermittent fasting has been around for several years (as well as fasting in general) but intermittent fasting doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. It does not say anything about which foods to eat, but rather when you should eat them. It's really more of a eating style instead of an eating pattern or traditional diet. However, there are several questions to know if anything is just another diet or not:1. Do you ignore your hunger?2. Eat only certain foods? Or Avoid certain foods?3. Eat on a schedule?4. Eating pattern is not intended for forever. If you answered yes to any of these, then it is indeed a diet.

If you're new around here, you may not have heard, but: Diet culture is such a sneaky bitch! Its latest infiltration is an attempt to hijack intuitive eating called — get this — intuitive fasting. The name itself is just a big ol' oxymoron. If you're ignoring your body's signals that it wants to eat at certain times of the day, that's not intuitive. We dive into how this term and this movement are harmful, how well-meaning influencers are causing serious body issues, and why follower count DOES NOT equal expertise. Last week Gwyneth Paltrow, globally renowned actress turned health and wellness influencer, came out with the diet book, “Intuitive Fasting” last week and I have many bones to pick with it. In this episode I unpack: ✨ How diet culture persuades us to invest our time, effort and energy into damaging and unproven weight loss efforts under the guise of “health.” ✨ Why “intuitive fasting” won't work for (and could potentially harm) thousands of American women. ✨ How intuitive eating still reigns supreme as a truly anti-diet approach that doesn't require a prerequisite of fasting or other means of weight loss or restriction beforehand. Interested working 1:1 to *finally* stop obsessing about food and your body? I'm currently accepting a few more clients to join me in a three month intensive program that involves undieting and intuitive eating → APPLY HERE. ———————————————
"There is no one diet that works for everyBODY." Despite the research, many people continue to look for a "perfect diet" (diet to go on) and cycle from one fad diet to the next, hoping that they will find a quick fix or a solution to their food and body image issues. They are often excited when starting a new fad diet, then disappointed when they are not able to stay on their chosen diet or to maintain their gains. But have you ever considered that you're going about this entirely the wrong way? In this podcast, you will learn: What the research shows about the intermittent fasting diet. What the $60 billion diet industry won't tell you. What you should eat to get and stay healthy. Weight loss is hard, REALLY hard and sticking to a plan for a long period of time can seem impossible at times, ESPECIALLY when you have a LOT of weight to lose.6 years ago, Darren weighed in at just over 150kg and after a trip to the emergency room and being told he may be having a heart attack, he knew something had to change.Luckily for Darren it wasn't a heart attack, but so began his journey of what would include MANY ups and downs along a pathway to see him reach his current point that now see's him weigh in at 78kg and almost HALF his original body weight!Listen in to this weeks episode to hear how Darren achieved this SUPER HUMAN accomplishment and how he was able to get through those tough times to make sure he stayed on course to change his life forever!!!I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me and then DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE to make sure you never miss an episode!!!Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. Over Privileged White Guy (OPWG) Book Podcast - Episode Eight Reader Question Edition #2 is in micro-podcast format and addresses a reader question from Evette Weiss who lives in New York. OPWG Book Podcast Episode Eight, Reader Question #2 focuses on muscle mass, posture, diet, exercise, and lifestyle relative to Ms. Weiss's Body Type Two and underdeveloped muscle in what she has roughly identified as ranging from thoracic vertebra seven (7) to lumbar vertebra three (3). The discussion centers on what diet, exercise and lifestyle advice Gnosis can offer to help improve her muscle mass and posture (spinal extension) in that T7 to L3 vertebrae range. Starting things off with diet advice, and to some extent lifestyle advice, Gnosis points our that diet is very tricky as genes/genetics, body type, lifestyle, and other variables play into things, but that after years of trying many different types of diets (Paleo, Atkins, Keto, Vegan, Low-Carb, Low-Fat, Fasting Diet, etc.) that he now loosely follows the Blue Zone Mediterranean Diet. He goes on to mention his heavily organic and vegetarian based omnivore diet while honing in on clean food and drink as well as nutrition and nutrients including protein, carbohydrates (carbs), vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fats, fiber, and the like to keep his body as healthy and balanced as possible. He also clarifies his exercise routines further, which involves both cardio and resistance training (weightlifting and isometrics). The conversation then turns to Evette's identification of the three body types - ectomorph, endomorph, and mesomorph - as well as the hormone body types, and how she does not resonate with any of them. She points out that her Body Type Two is still skinny fat in her stomach area in relation to the T7 to L3 vertebrae and her general posture and she requests any exercise advice that can be offered to improve muscle mass. Gnosis puts forward several ideas on how she can safely improve the muscle mass for those vertebrae and her overall posture. You may have heard of the more common term, carb cycling, however I have always been of the opinion that it allows the idea that there is something wrong with carbs and that they must be avoided in some way.I prefer to use the method of calorie cycling and have used it and the various methods I have developed over time with my clients to successfully help them and myself lose weight with much more ease than a consistent calorie deficit tends to.In this episode I talk about the 5 common methods of calorie cycling I have used myself and with my clients and detail how you can use them to help increase the possibility of success for your fat loss journey.I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. In this episode of "fullbuddycast", I get to do a real prognosis diagnosis again! I developed the 5 IN 10 Program as a way to help people lose 5kg in 10 weeks and to show participants everything they will ever need to know continue the process for the rest of their lives. What they got out of the program though was SO much more and Rachael who was the winner of the first program came onto my podcast this week to tell you all about what she lost but also gained from her experience.Rachael lost a staggering 10.9kg and 43.5cm from her body and has continued that journey to lose a further 3.1kg and 8.5cm throughout the course of the second round of the program. While these numbers are amazing, how this program has TRULY changed her life is something that EVERY person looking to go on a fat loss journey needs to hear!No matter the reason for why you came to this podcast, I am positive you will gain some VERY valuable insights on how you can stay the course and to ensure you achieve the results you set out to achieve.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. I have seen an ever increasing trend of people taking my "balance is key", "as long as it fits your calories" advice far too literally and reverting to fasting as a way to "punish" themselves for the food they ate the day before or after a big social weekend.Fasting as an array of positive health and well-being benefits and it is these that you should focus on when looking to include fasting or the no breakfast life as part of your day to day life. What you should NOT use fasting for, is to restrict calories and do so in a way that feels like a punishment for the food you ate yesterday. In this weeks podcast I talk in two opposite directions and talk about why living a "balanced" life may see you make no progress at all and why going the complete opposite way and being very STRICT may be the key to your success. From the moment I laid my eyes on Amy for the first time in 2007 as she strutted her way down the pool deck after winning yet another swimming race in her illustrious career, I was fixated on getting to know who she was and getting her to notice me.In many ways, we should NEVER have worked and we almost didn't. She was super smart and into books, while I was into video games and growing my biceps in the gym. She was super dedicated to her sport, while I had given up on all sport since retiring from my lack luster career as a tennis player post injury. She was tall, looked like a Greek goddess and was everything I could dream to aspire to have in a partner and I was short, balding and had nothing going for me at the time, apart from a decent 6 pack and biceps. What transpired though was a love affair that has endured some very tough times but also some AMAZING times to produce a wonderful marriage, gorgeous and gleefully cheeky daughter (another on the way as of when this was recorded) and a friendship between two very different, but also very similar people who want nothing more in life than to be happy.I hope you enjoy this episode as much as we enjoyed living it over these past 12 years.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. A little over 8 months ago Max came to me in my DM's over on Instagram and was desperate for some help to see him curb his ever growing waist line and numbers on the scale. At over 6 foot tall and 200kg, Max was by far the biggest person I had ever spoken to and I could here in his words just how lost he felt and how hopeless he was about the entire weight loss process. We spoke to Max 5 months ago on episode 21 after he had come on board my free mentor program. He was doing really well and at that point was down an incredible 25kg and was feeling extremely positive about the future and his ability to continue the process to see him lose even more weight and see him change his life forever. In this episode we speak to Max again and see where he is at both mentally and physically and how on earth he has been able to achieve the RIDICULOUS progress he has had to date. In just over 8 months, Max has been able to lose over 55kg and 101cm, and continues to drive forwards each and every week. What is his secret, what exercise does he do, what does he eat and has he found it hard are all questions he answers from me this week on the podcast. I hope his story will help to inspire you and show you that no matter how hopeless it may seem or how insurmountable the task may be, you can ALWAYS make a change if you decide you are ready to do what it takes.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. Just over 13 years ago in October of 2006, I started my Exercise Physiology business on the back end of completing my final thesis for my Exercise Physiology Masters Degree. I had found a niche in the market that no one else was attending to and so I went all in.I never knew or could even imagine that over the next 13 years I would create a thriving exercise physiology business that would lead me to writing an amazon best selling book that would then see me become "The No Breakfast Guy".Through a TONNE of hard work and some luck along the way, I currently produce content and talk to 10's of 1000's of people everyday on a number of different platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Podcasts, Tik Tok, LinkedIn) and I couldn't be happier. If you want to learn what it took and how much it cost to get me to this place and what my plans are for the future and what they will cost, then have a listen to this weeks podcast and I hope you enjoy what is the story of my professional career to date.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. I am asked at least once a day... Adam, I hear you talk about how important protein is, but how do I get more protein into my diet without going over my daily calorie count? Well, from here on out, every time I get that question I can now direct that person straight to this podcast. In this episode you will hear me talk about how to go about that very task, but what I mostly do is go through the top meal options that I use myself or have used in the past that are all HIGH protein and relatively LOW calorie.Once you begin to know what 50g's of protein looks like and how you can make that portion fit into a meal that is only 500-600 calories, you will quickly learn how you can change that to suit you and your taste bud needs and what you enjoy most when it comes to making your lunches and dinners.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. A common question that I am asked goes something like this...Adam, how do I start fasting or how do I start the no breakfast life?I thought, this is a great opportunity to give a more detailed answer than... JUST START! In this episode I go in much more detail on the steps I took and now advise my clients take when looking to start their very own fasting or no breakfast journey.Whether you are looking to start fasting or have already been fasting and skipping breakfast for a while now, this podcast will be of value to you and I do hope it helps clarify what to do and what not to do when looking to start your own journey.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. I have worked with 1000's of people over the years and there have been a number of traits and common behaviours that I have seen arise that occur with people who find success on their fat loss journey. On the flip side, there have been a number of people who have not been successful on their journey and in those people there have been a number of common mistakes that are made. I wanted to share those mistakes with you, so that you may stay clear of them and ensure you find success on your fat loss journey now and into the future.I am not saying that if you correct these mistakes that success is 100% guaranteed and that your fat loss journey will instantly become easy, but it may make the journey that little bit easier to help you stay consistent with it and find success.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. I had the pleasure of giving a presentation to a manufacturing business this past week and I was able to record that presentation live. The presentation I gave was geared around the idea that most of us know what our financial balance is and have an understanding to whether we will have enough money to retire, but most people have NO IDEA what their "Health Balance" is.In this presentation I talk about what are possible good investments and bad investments to make around your health and discuss the real possibility that you might run out of your "Health Superannuation". I then finish up the presentation talking about what can you do today that can make it more likely you have enough HEALTH saved for retirement so that you can live your best life and enjoy those later years.I do hope you enjoy the episode and as always if you do enjoy the show and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. Around November/December of each year I look through my comments, emails and DM's a little more closely and look to find someone that could use the help of my coaching and accountability program. At the end of 2018, Max weighed in at just over 200kg and was on a straight line to type 2 diabetes, a heart attack and most likely death at a very young age. So when a questioned from Max popped up in my DM's, I reached out and asked if he could use some help.Max took on and welcomed the help and after some back and forth, we took off on his journey in February of 2018 and just 12 weeks later and 1/4 of the way through his 12 month coaching program Max has already seen some INCREDIBLE and life changing results. This episode and the ones to come throughout this next year are here to detail, just how Max has achieved his progress up until that point, what he has found hard, what he has found easy and to give a day by day account on how things are going.I hope you enjoy this weeks podcast and while I hope you find value from the information we share, what I most hope you get from this podcast is the knowledge that NO MATTER where you are in life, what age, socioeconomic status, race, gender you are, that you CAN make a change and see yourself live a happy, healthy and LONG life.Whether you are on a walk, at the gym or have your feet up at home, enjoy the podcast and I look forward to speaking with you all again next week,LET'S GO!!!If you enjoyed this episode I'd love for you to leave a review, give the podcast a 5 star rating and subscribe for MUCH more to come.Follow Max on his journey over on his Instagram Page @creatingmax2.0Contact The No Breakfast Guy:Instagram: @the_no_breakfast_guyWebsite: www.thenobreakfastguy.comEmail: info@thenobreakfastguy.comYouTube: www.youtube.com/thenobreakfastguy
I have followed Pat's work for quite some time now and he has always been someone I thought was a little quirky, but someone that I VERY much looked up to and admired for his incredible wealth of knowledge and understanding of the human body and mind.I was VERY surprised, but equally happy when I received a reply back from him on my request to have him on my podcast. Pat is a very successful coach, author and writer in his own right and so to have him come on my podcast, was a real treat and something I very much enjoyed and hope you do to.I had a great time chatting with Pat about a number of topics, but what we kept coming back to was the incredible power fasting has for us and a power that goes WELL beyond just an effective fat loss tool.I hope you enjoy this episode and hope you enjoy the knowledge that pours out of Pat in this hour we had together.Thank you to Pat for joining me on the show and thank you to you for listening in.If you enjoyed this episode I'd love for you to leave a review, give the podcast a 5 star review and subscribe for more.Pat's Details:Instagram: @chroniclesofstrengthWebsite: www.chroniclesofstrength.comNew Book: www.howtobebetterbook.comContact The No Breakfast Guy:Instagram: @the_no_breakfast_guyWebsite: www.thenobreakfastguy.comEmail: info@thenobreakfastguy.comYouTube: www.youtube.com/thenobreakfastguy
I have been very privileged to have worked with and continue to work with a number of incredible clients who have a wealth of knowledge and life experience that I can draw on each day.Jason Hellwig is just another example of this and so I wanted to bring him onto the podcast to talk all this Heath and Wellbeing in the workplace. What eventuated though was a much more inclusive and honest conversation on topics from Anxiety, Depression and how building a trusting and honest workplace environment can be crucial to the health of its employees.I had a great time talking with Jason and I also hope you enjoy this chat and find value from its content. If you enjoyed the podcast it would mean the world to me if you could take 2 minutes to leave a review and 5 star rating. This week we talk about the 5 (I throw an extra 1 or 2 in the there as an added bonus) most common myths you have no doubt heard and I hear asked in my DM's over on Instagram every single day.Susie from accounting and her best friend Bob the boof head at the gym LOVE to tell you how fasting will put your body into starvation mode, that skipping a meal will slow down your metabolism and that if you skip breakfast you will likely eat yourself to death with a mountain of food later the day.The biggest and most pervasive myth though was and still is, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I discus this and the myths mentioned above and why they have come about, why they are not true and link them to research that has shown these myths to be complete fabrications or misconceptions of the data.I hope you walk away after listening to this episode with a better understanding of why these myths came about, why they are untrue and have the confidence that by starting the no breakfast life that your health is not only in good hands but your decision may be the best thing you could have ever done for your health. As always, I hope you enjoy this episode and if you did, it would mean the world to me if you could give the show a review and 5 star rating as it really does help me out as well as gives my ego a boost that I am doing something that people enjoy.Until next week, have the best day ever and I will chat to you all again soon,CIAO!!!Contact The No Breakfast GuyInstagram: @the_no_breakfast_guyWebsite: www.thenobreakfastguy.comYouTube: The No Breakfast GuyEmail: info@thenobreakfastguy.com

Just over 11 years ago, Nigel was looking to fulfil a dream and compete in a very prestigious bike race in France and follow the greats of Le Tour de France. All that stood in his way was having his GP sign off a medical clearance to allow him to race and so off Nigel went to get what he thought would be an easy signature and he would be on the next plane to France. What he didn't know at the time was there was something VERY wrong with his heart and if he hadn't had such a diligent Doctor, he would most likely NOT be sitting here today and talking to me on my podcast show.Listen in this week as we talk about Nigel's journey back from open heart surgery and how he came to find the no breakfast life. We will discus the change this has had on his life as well Nigel will share a few tips he has found that made the transition into The No Breakfast life that little bit easier.I have loved spending time with Nigel over the years and I hope you enjoy this chat we had and it helps you on your own journey. If you enjoyed the podcast it would mean the world to me if you could take 2 minutes to leave a review and 5 star rating.Find me at or contact me on:Instagram: @the_no_breakfast_guyWebsite: www.thenobreakfastguy.comYouTube: The No Breakfast GuyEmail: info@thenobreakfastguy.com
In 2016 my daughter was born and my life, in an instant, was changed forever. I had feelings of joy, terror, excitement and fear of what lay ahead and my thoughts moved to asking myself... "What kind of father will I be to this child and what will she think of me in the years to come?"I grew up in a typical middle class family with loving parents who worked hard, saved their money and brought with them the values of a post war upbringing. While my parents instilled in me work ethic and the value of an honest days work, I knew that I wanted to live a different life and a life that would see me spend EVERY single moment I possibly could with my wife and children. My father worked INCREDIBLY hard (as did my mother) and while he rarely, if ever, missed the really important parts of my upbringing, I really didn't see much of him in the first 16 years of my life. He would travel for work, be up early to head to work for a meeting or get to the gym/run before going to work and was on many occasions home late. So, when I decided to take a year off, just as Amelia was born, I thought I would get a speech that went something along the lines of... "This is no time to mess about and galavant around the world! Time to settle down and be the responsible father you need to be for your family"What I heard though was something MUCH different and what my father told me, inspired me even more so to jump on a plane and never regret taking this time to spend with my girls and take a step back from life in general. Listen in to this weeks podcast and I hope you enjoy the deep dive I take with my wife on what this trip meant to me and us and why it fundamentally changed my outlook on life and why I believe I have become a much better father and husband as well as a better practitioner and business owner.I wish you a great week and I look forward to being back with you all again NEXT WEEK!If you enjoyed the podcast it would mean the world to me if you could take 2 minutes to leave a review and 5 star rating. This is by far the MOST asked question I get in the DM’s of my instagram account and so I thought it is about time I made a podcast that will go into detail about what breaks your fast and what does not break your fast.As the name would suggest, “break-fast” is when you are going from a fasted state to a fed state. While that might seem very straight forward, it can be confusing as to what actually breaks your fast. To get a little nerdy for a second, what breaking your fast technically is, is consuming anything that produces a rise in insulin which will take you from a fasted state into a fed state.I go into this in much more detail in todays podcast and I do hope you enjoy! As always, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me on any of the information below.Wishing you all a GREAT day and until next time,CIAO!Find me at or contact me on:Instagram: @the_no_breakfast_guyWebsite: www.thenobreakfastguy.comYouTube: The No Breakfast GuyEmail: info@thenobreakfastguy.com
