On Episode 38 of Southern Live Gumbo, we get away from our Cancer Chronicles and go back to our normal programming of discussing the topics of the current world and the human psyche. This was recorded late so my language is fitting for the time frame.We made the decision to not talk about Kanye West, and then proceed to talk about him from a Mental Health perspective. We then transitioned the mental health discussion to speak on the plight of Candy Corn lovers and their need for intervention from the mental health community. And lastly, our main topic of communication and vulnerability in Men. So many people say men don't communicate well, but what happens when they actually do? How much is too much? The lead up to surgery, the completion and healing process of the surgery and the weight of dealing with the changes you're enduring then and for the rest of your life. The need for therapy is even more important now than it was before the diagnosis. On Episode 35 of Southern Live Gumbo, there is only one subject I'm speaking about, how i found out that I have prostate cancer. This won't dominate the show but I wanted to explain why things have fallen off and exactly what the experience has been like for me to this point.I started thinking about my life as time I didn't want to waste but this space is always where I wanted to be. It is my space to share my stories and testimony for the world to hear, laugh at, cry with or whatever. And even as real as this is emotionally and physically in the future, it something people need to hear. So I plan on coming back here to say it. Lastly we pull out the bottle of Pepto Bismol and discuss the oklahoma sports commentator who blamed his use of the N-Word to describe black female basketball players who were kneeling, on his diabetes.
