Legal Team, this week we're replaying a timely episode following the news that President Trump has pardoned Todd and Julie Chrisley, leading to their release from prison. At the top of the episode, we break down what a presidential pardon actually means—and what it doesn't. Then we dive into the Chrisleys' dramatic fall from grace. Todd and Julie, stars of Chrisley Knows Best, were convicted of fraudulently obtaining millions in loans using forged documents and evading taxes, but their legal troubles started long before reality TV. This jam-packed episode covers everything from early schemes dating back to 2009 to messy family drama, multiple state and federal investigations, scorned exes, and a laundry list of allegations: RICO, bankruptcy fraud, wire fraud, tax evasion, extortion, defamation, and more. Hey legal team! I know this is a week we normally don't release an episode but we wanted to share a show we think you'll love. If you listen to The Bravo Docket, you obviously love reality TV and so do hosts Sharleen Joynt and Andy Levine of Dear Shandy. Dear Shandy is a dating advice podcast where happily married couple Sharleen & Andy (aka “Shandy”!) answer YOUR relationship questions (and you can be anonymous, so nobody has to know!). But they're also known for their hilarious take on relationship reality shows, from The Bachelor to Love is Blind. (Even Time Magazine wrote about their recaps!) They also do episodes called Love Fests, where they have a “double date” with your favorite couples from reality TV and pop culture. They are currently in the middle of recapping the newest season of The Bachelorette and we can't get enough! So after you're done listening to this episode, make sure you find Dear Shandy wherever you get your podcasts (or watch their episodes on Youtube!) so you don't miss an episode! To learn more about Dear Shandy, follow them on Instagram @dearshandy, check out their Youtube and listen every Tuesday and Thursday, wherever you get your podcasts!

We are doing something different today and interviewing a member of our legal team, Monica Nguyen. Monica is a Deputy Public Defender that specializes in competency and has been working solely in mental health for 15 years. Monica digs into the court's decision on Tom Girardi's competency and provides her opinion, based on her experience, of the decision and what the court could have addressed further. Monica can be found on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/mentalhealthlawyer/ As an initial note, this is not at all to defend what Tom did, but rather is an opportunity to consider the order from a different perspective with an attorney who is experienced in the subject matter. This is not our practice area so when we can rely on members of the legal team who do practice in the area, we want them to share.
