Preacher: Jared Osmond Sermon: The Sacrificed Life Date: 07/06/2026
A new Osmond concert venue is coming to Provo Canyon, Trader Joe's announces its first West Jordan location, and Utah state parks are expanding their life jacket loaner program just in time for summer. We also dig into the Brigham City hit-and-run that has a family and police searching for answers, and KSL's look at Utah's five deadliest roads — where they are and what's being done about them. Plus, a Wall Street Journal report says more parents are buying homes for their adult kids….we have thoughts and so do our listeners. Nearly half of teens are losing sleep to phone use after midnight, a groundbreaking clinical trial is tackling broken heart syndrome in women, and we learn that Woody from Toy Story is sometimes voiced by Tom Hanks' brother. Oh, and a Washington Post critic went on an exhaustive search for the best kids' show. (No surprise on the winner)
It sounds a bit like the Tuacahn of Northern Utah -- what do you think? The Osmond family says they will build a world-class concert venue near the mouth of Provo Canyon. This would be on an old mining facility just across Highway 189 from Canyon View Park. There are lots of questions about the development, least of which is the effect of additional traffic on an already-busy stretch of highway. Greg and Holly discuss the plans and read listener comments, too.

We sit down with Mitchell Osmond of the Dad Nation Podcast and get brutally honest about what it means to be a present dad in a noisy world, where work, phones, and stress quietly steal the only thing we can't earn back: time.We talk about the stats that reframe everything: how fast your time with your kids drops as they grow, and why that “one focused hour” each day can shape a child's confidence for life. Mitchell breaks down the two questions kids ask under the surface, “Am I enough?” and “Do I have what it takes?” and how a father's encouragement, belief, and consistent presence can keep them from searching for worth in all the wrong places. We also get into the father-daughter dynamic, including how the way we treat our wives becomes the blueprint our daughters normalize. Then we zoom out to marriage and communication, because strong families are built on strong partnerships. Mitchell shares a clear framework for what wives often need to feel secure: seen, heard, and safe, along with simple active listening tools that lower defensiveness and rebuild connection. We also unpack emotional disconnection, the quiet drift that damages relationships long before any big blowup. If you want actionable fatherhood advice, practical marriage help, and a reset on what matters most, this conversation is for you. What happens when a man who was wired for achievement — not emotion — finally says out loud that he's afraid? For Mitchell Osmond, it took four years of marriage, a near-divorce, and a funeral to find out. In this episode, Tera sits down with Mitchell, host of the Dad Nation podcast and coach to high-performing men, for a conversation that goes deep into what it actually looks like when a man chooses emotional connection over self-protection. Mitchell shares his SORRY apology framework, the "story I'm telling myself" tool, and what happened when he stopped being a robot — and his wife noticed immediately.IN THIS EPISODE:→ Why men tell you what they did instead of how they feel — and how to break that pattern→ Mitchell's SORRY framework: a five-step apology that actually lands and can't easily be weaponized→ The "story I'm telling myself" tool for short-circuiting conflict before it spirals→ How shame — not just pride — can keep us from reconnecting after a rupture→ A live Core Emotion Wheel walk-through with Mitchell sharing real-time vulnerability on all 8 emotions→ Why Mitchell believes: when a dad gets better, the whole family winsABOUT MITCHELL OSMOND:Mitchell is the host of the Dad Nation podcast and founder of a coaching practice dedicated to helping high-performing men win at home like they do at work. Preacher: Jared Osmond Sermon: Thank God It's Friday Date: 03/04/2026
This week, Mike welcomes Mitchell Osmond, founder of Dad Nation and host of The Dad Nation Podcast, helping men build legacy-driven success without sacrificing their families. On the outside, Mitchell had it all: career success, leadership roles, and momentum. But behind the scenes, he was overweight, in debt, disconnected in his marriage, and heading toward collapse. For Mitchell, everything changed after two pivotal moments: a devastating fight with his wife and a powerful wake-up call at a funeral that forced him to confront the life he was living and the legacy he was leaving behind. That moment sparked an 18-month transformation that reshaped every area of his life, from his health to his marriage to his purpose. Mitchell opens up about the internal struggles many men face but rarely talk about, feeling powerful at work but powerless at home. He breaks down how losing respect in a relationship happens, why emotional disconnection is the real reason most marriages fail, and how understanding love languages and core values can rebuild connection. Mike and Mitchell also dive into the psychology behind habits, including emotional eating, and how subconscious patterns formed in childhood can quietly control your adult life. They discuss the role of fitness not only for physical health, but for mental clarity, confidence, and stress management. This episode is a wake-up call for any man who feels stuck and a roadmap for becoming the man your family and your future self can be proud of. Preacher: Jarod Osmond Sermon: Remember The River Date: 15/03/2026
In this episode, Duane Osterlind sits down with Mitchell Osmond, founder of Dad Nation, to discuss the unique challenges faced by career-driven men. Mitchell shares his powerful personal journey from the brink of divorce, $100,000 in debt, and substance struggle to a life of health and purpose. The conversation explores why the very skills that make men successful in the boardroom often sabotage them in the living room, and how to bridge the gap between professional power and personal connection.Key HighlightsThe Paradox of the "Successful" ManMany men feel respected and competent at work but powerless and disconnected at home. Mitchell explains that the tools of business—logic, efficiency, and detachment—don't translate to intimate relationships. The Struggle: Feeling like a "powerful leader" from 9-to-5 and a "robot" or "stranger" from 5-to-9.The Sabotage: Using workplace attributes to solve emotional problems, which often leads to further isolation. The Two Turning Points: A Fight and a FuneralMitchell reflects on the "brutal, painful journey" that led to his transformation:The Fight: A massive argument with his wife that made him realize he was on the verge of losing everything. The Funeral: While singing at a funeral, Mitchell heard a question that changed his life: "Are you living a life worthy of imitation?" He realized his current legacy was one of alcoholism and debt, and he chose to put a "stake in the ground."The Three Pillars of TransformationMitchell breaks down the process of change into three distinct phases:Information: Gaining the knowledge (though he warns we are "starving for wisdom" despite an abundance of data).Implementation: Taking action on that knowledge.Transformation: The result of consistent implementation, usually found within community and accountability.Understanding "Normative Male Alexithymia"The duo discusses the concept of Alexithymia—the lack of words for emotions. The "Lone Wolf" Trap: Society often teaches men to "stuff it down," leading to a lack of emotional intelligence. The Solution: Practicing emotional communication as a skill, using tools like the "Rise Conversation Ladder" or even simple emoji charts to identify feelings. The "Middle Way" of MasculinityMitchell rejects the extremes of "hyper-masculinity" (toxic/aggressive) and "passive-masculinity" (pushover)."I'd rather be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war." He advocates for being courageous yet compassionate—strong enough to protect the family, but meek enough to sit and listen to a daughter's feelings.Notable Quotes"You are the most qualified to help the person you used to be." — Mitchell Osmond (referencing Ed Mylett)"Time is the only currency that we spend without knowing the remaining balance.""Your wiring may explain you, but it doesn't excuse you."Resources & LinksDad Nation Website: dadnationco.comSocial Media: Follow Mitchell on Instagram (Search: Dad Nation)The Addicted Mind: theaddictedmind.comTool Mentioned: The Hoffman Institute's Feelings List.If you live in California and are looking for counseling or therapy please check out Novus Mindful Life Counseling and Recovery CenterNovusMindfulLife.comWe want to hear from you. Send us a textToday I'm taking you deep into Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Reunion Part 2 with receipts, timelines, and information you won't hear anywhere else. I investigate whether Candace Story 7 is really Lisa Barlow's secret Finsta account and break down the drama over who actually started RHOSLC—was it Lisa or was it Mary Cosby like producer Noah Sampton claims? Then I expose Jared Osmond's ex-wife Heather Osmond's explosive lawsuit alleging he cheated on her and hid millions in assets during their divorce with help from Brandon Fugel, the Skinwalker Ranch owner. I finally piece together the full story behind Meredith Marks calling Brittani Bateman a pedophile supporter on the plane—it all connects to an anti-Semitic nail tech who said Jewish people are pedophiles who escape to Israel, and I have the ABC News coverage and the voice memo Brittany sent apologizing. Plus Brittany announces she will NEVER film with Meredith again, the Seth Marks cheating allegations that Jared allegedly knows about, why Heather Gay still has a photo of Meredith's secret boyfriend "Rolling Thunder," and Aaron Osmond's anti-LGBTQ voting record as a Utah Senator. I also reveal what Taylor Swift's "tiny violin" text to Blake Lively tells us about her song "Cancelled"—it's about Justin Baldoni, not Blake, and I explain how it connects to Hugh Jackman, who was at that secret meeting with Taylor and Blake and is now exposed for his affair with Sutton Foster that was "Broadway's worst kept secret" while his wife Debra Lee Furness was the last to know after 27 years. I play you Mary Cosby's shocking sermon compilation where she claims to be God and the reincarnation of Mama. Then I pivot to RHUGT Road Trip tea about Porsha Williams and Vicki Gunvalson's fight, the full Brooklyn Beckham estrangement story including DJ Fat Tony's revelation about the Victoria Beckham wedding dance disaster, why I believe Megan Markle and Prince Harry advised Brooklyn to go public, and Tim Busfield's police interview audio where the kids say nothing happened.Support the showDana is on Cameo!Follow Dana: @Wilkey_Dana$25,000 Song - Apple Music$25,000 Song - SpotifyTo support the show and listen to full episodes, become a member on PatreonTo send Dana information, show requests and sponsorships reach out to our new email: dishingdramadana@gmail.comDana's YouTube Channel
Jen is joined on the show today by Mitchell Osmond from The Dad Nation. They dig into the year everything fell apart—job loss, $100K debt, 60 extra pounds, substance numbing, and a marriage on the brink—then Mitchell walks us through the exact inner and outer work that rebuilt his health, wealth, relationship, and mission. You'll learn the three levers he pulls with clients (Clarity, Community, Coaching), the "Eulogy Exercise" that snaps you into alignment, and how to create safety nets (hello, Iron Five) so you don't slide back into old patterns. We also touch on emotional connection in long-term relationships and a practical way to bring back spark—without sacrificing career success. In this episode: The funeral question that flipped Mitch's life: "Are you living a life worthy of imitation?" Taking full ownership (and why no one is taking the cheeseburger out of your hand) The Eulogy Exercise: version 1 (today) vs. version 2 (your 10/10 self)—and how to reverse-engineer the gap The 3 Levers: Clarity (begin with the end in mind; yearly → quarterly → weekly moves) Community (Mitch's Iron Five framework for accountability) Coaching/Mentorship (systems that catch you when motivation dips) Why many divorces stem from lack of emotional connection—and what to do about it A simple tool to rekindle romance and conversation at home (Spark Starter Kit) Parting reframe: Time is the only currency we spend without knowing the remaining balance. Try this today: Write two eulogies from your partner's perspective. First, the honest "today" version. Second, the 10/10 best-self version. Highlight the differences, pick 3 behaviors that would close the gap this week, and tell your partner what you're committing to. Are you a high achieving man who is crushing it in your career—yet feeling powerless at home, disconnected from your family, or weighed down by old patterns? On this week's episode of Love University, we sat down with Mitchell Osmond—trusted advisor, executive coach, and host of The Dad Nation Podcast (www.dadnationco.com)—to unpack how high‑performing men can break through personal struggle, reclaim their health and relationships, and build a legacy that matters with their loved ones. After overcoming his own challenges—being overweight, deeply in debt, and nearly divorced—Mitchell has spent over a decade helping men and their partners bridge the gap between success in the boardroom and success at home. Here are three powerful insights from our conversation: Transformation begins with ownership—not escape. Mitchell's journey wasn't linear: he was 50 lbs. overweight, nearly $100K in debt, and in a failing marriage when a simple question shifted his life: If you died today, would you be proud of your legacy? That wake‑up call inspired him to take ownership—rebuilding his body, restoring his marriage, and realigning his finances. Today he teaches that confronting personal truth head‑on—not numbing with distractions—is the first step toward growth. His story shows that recovery and performance aren't just about willpower—they're about clarity of purpose. Men's suffering at home reflects disconnection—not weakness. Mitchell highlights a stark reality: a significant number of men are highly effective at work but emotionally disconnected at home. Statistics show that when they get home, many men spend thousands of hours a year on screens and face rising loneliness—moreover, having an absent father (mentally or physically) strongly correlates with negative outcomes for children. The Dad Nation movement provides a solution by helping men build emotional connection with their partners and children—teaching that strength isn't just productivity, it's being present, listening, and meeting emotional needs. That integration of ambition with emotional awareness is what fuels lasting success. Winning in life requires a holistic, actionable framework. What separates success from stagnation? Mitchell offers a four‑pillar approach that aligns ambition with fulfillment: Relationship Solidification — making your partner feel seen, heard, and safe. Body Renovation — disciplined health and fitness for energy and confidence. Mind Transformation — intentional focus on time, energy, and emotional fitness. Goal Implementation — clear, purpose‑driven objectives that shape daily action. He emphasizes that confidence doesn't always come first—it's often the result of consistent effort in mind, body, and relationship. Whether you're a dad, a mom, or even a single person, these four pillars can help you overcome stagnation and achieve your full potential. Your life of integration and holistic success begins now. The road trip season has pushed us back a day but here we are squeezing in a show between Chanukah and Christmas. Vocabulary lessons this week include Competitive Balance Tax, because the Luxury Tax isn't just for Monopoly anymore, and Prospect Promotion Incentive (PPI). Just because it's the holidays it doesn't mean you can slack on learning. Our boyfriends this week are from BAL, where Patti leans into the once and forever boyfriend and Pottymouth goes Westy, and the Hammers, where Pottymouth picks a player with a wacky Tennessee claim to fame and Patti goes right to ROY. The Police Blotter features the return of Wander Franco's case to the courts, and the end of the Tyler Skagg's courtroom drama. The International Baseball update includes almost baffling chaos around the Serie del Caribe and the Serie de las Americas but the takeaway is absolutely please stop blowing up Venezuelan boats. We're both on yet more road trips and we wish you safe travels if you are too, and happy holidays if you celebrate. See you a day late again next week!We say, “A glass half full of Santa's Butt,” “There was some hockey, there was some smarts,” and “Donny was the youngest Osmond that had any juice.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com.
