    Ivy Insights

The Equity Matters Podcast is an absolute gem in the world of podcasts. With each episode, it delves deep into the complex and important topic of equity, providing listeners with valuable insights and perspectives. The podcast hosts, Marquita and James, have created a platform that encourages meaningful conversations surrounding racism, social justice, and creating positive change in our society.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the incredible guests they bring on. Marquita and James have a knack for finding individuals who are not only knowledgeable about equity but also share their passion for making a difference. For instance, in episode 47, Marquita's expertise shines through as she eloquently discusses the social aspect of racism while considering various viewpoints. Her ability to articulate such complex topics makes her a star on the show.

Additionally, The Equity Matters Podcast does an excellent job of ensuring inclusivity and keeping everyone's beliefs in mind. Rather than creating an echo chamber or pushing a specific agenda, the hosts foster an environment where different perspectives are not only tolerated but encouraged. This open-mindedness allows for thought-provoking discussions that challenge listeners to examine their own biases and encourage growth.

However, like any podcast, there may be some areas for improvement. One aspect that could be addressed is the frequency of new episodes. While it is understandable that quality content takes time to produce, having more frequent releases would keep listeners engaged and eager for more. Nevertheless, this small critique does not detract from the overall quality of the podcast.

In conclusion, The Equity Matters Podcast is an incredible resource for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of equity issues and how they can contribute to positive change. Marquita's intelligence and insight coupled with James' delivery make for an enjoyable listening experience while tackling important topics head-on. Whether you're new to learning about equity or well-versed in the subject matter, this podcast provides invaluable knowledge and serves as a catalyst for meaningful conversations. I highly recommend giving it a listen and joining the movement towards a more equitable future.

Far too often, Black girls are described as “troubling” or “disobedient” yet having isolated occurrences. When you review the existing data, you notice the trends that in some U.S. public schools, Blackgirls are six times more likely to face suspension, three times more likely to be restrained, twice as likely to endure corporal punishment, and three times more likely to experience law enforcement referrals than white girls. Today we join Dr. Ijeoma Opara and Marline Francois-Madden to discuss these disparities, how Black girls are frequently treated as adults, and how we can best support Black girls inside and outside of the classroom.   Today, we join Dr. Ijeoma Opara and Marline Francois-Madden,    Keep in touch with our speakers:   Marline's Instagram:@MarlineFrancois Marline's Twitter:@MarlineFracois Visit Marline's website here and purchase the State of Black Girls here.
