Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) is one of the two image management technologies available in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix DaaS. Historically PVS has been used to deliver Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop workloads (VDA's) to servers and virtual machines from a single image over the network. However, it can also be used without CVAD/DaaS as a standalone product, physically streaming the OS disk to an endpoint device. These endpoint devices can be “dummy terminals” with no hard drives at all, zero/thin clients, high-end compute and graphics devices, and everything in between. This can include additional use cases for Security and locations with devices without hard drives. In this episode we discuss the history of PVS and some of its applicable use cases. We also cover some technical aspects of PVS and the benefits enabled by the roll-forward and roll-back of images. Host: Bill SuttonCo-Host: Geremy MyersCo-Host: Todd Smith

Building a resilient environment is key to ensuring business continuity. It allows users to access highly available resources during any disruptions, such as power outages or unexpected downtime, enabling them to maintain their critical work without interruption. Outages cost money. Every minute your users can't do their work is money lost. By prioritizing a highly available and resilient environment, you can minimize the financial impact of downtime.Citrix DaaS includes a number of features to achieve resiliency. However, these features are often overlooked by administrators or simply misunderstood or misconfigured. In this episode we discuss 2 of the key resiliency features in Citrix DaaS: Local Host Cache (LHC) and Service Continuity and how they enable highly available environments that can tolerate infrastructure outages while maintaining user access to critical applications and desktops.Host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Andy WhitesideCo-host: Geremy Myers

Virtualization takes many shapes and sizes. For your business, it may make the most sense to host your applications in the cloud, so that you can expand as needed for seasonal workforces or contractors. You may need to host some applications on-premises for compliance reasons. It may make even more sense to utilize a hybrid model and host some applications in the cloud and some on-premises. However, hybrid environments can increase complexity and reduce efficiency for IT departments if not managed correctly, multiplying the number of deployments that need to be managed. With Destination: Hybrid, Citrix makes managing hybrid deployments simple and efficient. Many of our latest feature developments have been aimed at increasing operational efficiency across hybrid, cloud, and on-premises deployments. IT Admins can work from any management location they choose with Citrix, for a fully customizable solution, with no obligation to move fully to the cloud. This shift is part of our Destination: Hybrid initiative to meet you where you are, on-premises, in the cloud, or a combination of both. All of the innovations you will read about below save admins time and effort when rolling out application and desktop workloads. VDA upgrade service, Web Studio for on-premises deployments, automatic agent upgrades, and Autoscale for on-premises deployments offer a wide variety of new tools that will make your environment more efficient than ever, with less effort from your IT team.Host: Andy WhitesideCo-host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Geremy MeyersCo-host: Todd Smith

While chatbots have been hailed by some as the future of IT support, some IT leaders say chatbots aren't very robust. For example, IT teams still find themselves manually handling common incidents such as virtual application and desktop session “resets.”In simpler terms, while chatbots manage IT tickets on the frontend, they still require manual help desk intervention on the backend — even for simple things. Citrix session resets have been identified as a “Top 5 use case” and the need for resets can be caused by a variety of factors, such as networking issues, forgotten passwords, or an issue with the IT organization's chosen authentication policies, such as single sign-on or multi-factor authentication. To help relieve this burden for IT teams, Citrix and ServiceNow have developed a new solution that helps integrate ServiceNow capabilities seamlessly within the Citrix environment. This empowers IT teams to deliver always-on, automated, AI-powered support natively through another chat application such as Microsoft Teams or Slack. Not only does this integration solve significant automation challenges (such as automatic resolution of common virtual session resets) for IT teams, it also helps deliver superior customer experience to all employees, regardless location.Host: Andy WhitesideCo-host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Geremy MeyersCo-host: Todd SmithGuest: Amir TrujilloGuest: Charlie Lopez
The rise of remote and hybrid work has allowed users to access their Citrix environments in increasingly diverse ways. To support this rise in flexible working arrangements, employers are now tasked with providing a seamless end-user experience across an array of endpoints. This adds complexity to managing, deploying, and standardizing Citrix Workspace app configurations and upgrades. Outdated Workspace app versions can lead to version drift, security vulnerabilities, discrepancies in capability, and connectivity issues – all headaches for an administrator. To address these issues, we introduced Citrix Global App Configuration Service which offers a convenient and centralized deployment solution for administrators delivering the Citrix Workspace app across devices, domains, and operating systems. Available via the Citrix Cloud console without additional licensing, Global App Configuration Service enables Citrix administrators to control and deploy Citrix Workspace app configurations and settings — without depending on 3rd party app-deployment tools across on-premise and cloud environments. Citrix teams can now manage and upgrade the Citrix Workspace app on any device accessing the Citrix environment, including BYO devices. It also provides a one-stop shop for administrators to apply application settings such as agent management, session resolution, and clipboard redirection for all end users accessing the environment. Global App Configuration Service offers essential services to streamline the admin and end-user experience of the Citrix Workspace app. These services address several major use cases such as email discovery of StoreFront/Workspace, centralized Workspace agent management, and application configuration.Host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Geremy Meyers

56 percent less hardware spending each year. That's how much organizations can potentially save with a desktop as a service (DaaS) solution. There are many benefits related to moving to the cloud using solutions like DaaS (such as improved employee and IT efficiency, easier software upgrades, and enhanced security), but optimizing IT spend is usually the main driver. Because the cost of cloud computing is based on the IT resources you actually use, it's usually much most cost-effective than building out physical server rooms that can sit idle during off-peak times.Host: Andy WhitesideCo-host: Geremy MeyersCo-host: Todd Smith
The Citrix Workspace app is a cloud-based platform application that is leveraged by millions of users for secure access to virtual desktops and apps from any device. The Citrix team knows how important it is to provide users with a clean, fast user experience, a modern look and feel, and a hassle-free start to the day.Since we released the Citrix Workspace app in 2019, we have continued to innovate and improve the user experience through streamlined management and integrations. As we detailed in our recent Destination: Hybrid event, we are focused on delivering the best possible app and desktop experience for your enterprise deployments and have been working to give users better access and control of their resources. That's why we are excited to announce that we are revamping the cloud-based Workspace user interface (UI) into an ultra-sleek user portal to declutter app and desktop options. We are implementing new features within the UI that will improve the utility and usability of Workspace.Host: Andy WhitesideCo-host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Todd SmithCo-host: Geremy Meyers
If you haven't picked up on the trend yet, let me just reinforce that Citrix is working overtime in 2023 to help you go all-in on your hybrid multi-cloud strategy. As we announced earlier this year, we're significantly investing in features and solutions that provide you with the choice and flexibility to develop your environment how you want it, where you want it, and to integrate with solutions you want.To that end, we know that many of you are leveraging or considering leveraging Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) hybrid multi-cloud software to simplify IT operations, move to the cloud faster, and lower your on-premises cost of operations. We are excited to announce official support for running Citrix DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on Nutanix Cloud Clusters on Azure. The Citrix plugin for NC2 on Azure is available today for early access, and is currently compatible with Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS). Compatibility with Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) is expected prior to general availability later this year. While Nutanix NC2 on Azure was previously a Citrix-Ready validated solution, by providing official Citrix support, we're ensuring customers can move forward with their hybrid multi-cloud deployment plans, and be confident that they'll have a great support experience if they run into any issues along the way.Azure support for NC2 comes as a significant extension to previously announced support for Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS – a capability shown to help you burst 2,000 Citrix Desktops to AWS in under two hours as opposed to days or weeks!Host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Geremy MeyersCo-host: Todd Smith
As organizations embark on adopting zero trust network access (ZTNA) solutions, they often desire the flexibility of a hybrid strategy with the choice to use a mix of SaaS-based and / or customer-managed solutions to best suit their needs. Particularly organizations with closed networks, highly regulated environments, and / or strict data & privacy controls continue to prefer an on-premises solution while leveraging a vendor-operated cloud-based solution where it makes sense without compromising security and end-user experience outcomes. One year ago, we launched Citrix Secure Private Access service — a cloud-based zero trust security solution that provides comprehensive ZTNA to all IT-managed applications, a curated end-user experience through Citrix Enterprise Browser, adaptive authentication, app protection, and adaptive security controls including Remote Browser Isolation, to provide unified access and protect against data loss threats. Citrix has been a leader in delivering unified, secure, zero trust access to enterprise applications for decades. We are committed to the principles of “Never Trust, Always Verify” and have continued our innovation to meet our customers where they are in their secure access strategy.Today, we are pleased to announce the General Availability of Secure Private Access On-Premises solution — a major milestone in our journey to deliver ZTNA as a full customer-managed on-premises solution.Host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Todd SmithCo-host: Geremy MeyersCo-host: Patrick Coble
It has only been a month since Citrix announced our strategy to support “Hybrid as the Destination”, an initiative to develop features both for on-prem and cloud customers, and already we are pleased to announce that Web Studio is now generally available for all Citrix customers! Regardless of the deployment scenarios, our customers now share the same modernized admin experience when using both Citrix DaaS and/or Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) on-prem deployments.Host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Geremy MeyersCo-host: Todd Smith
Over the past few months, you may have heard about some significant changes to Citrix. Most notably, Citrix Systems went private in September of 2022 and became a business unit of Cloud Software Group. Now, naturally you're asking yourself, “What does this mean for me?” And honestly, that's a fair question. After all, tech companies are restructuring and merging at a regular occurrence these days, and it often doesn't alter much from a customer perspective. However, in this case, Citrix going private means many positive, tangible changes are coming to our customers. With this new structure, the Citrix business unit of Cloud Software Group now has the flexibility and autonomy to focus on our core strength: providing an enterprise platform for app and desktop delivery. And that doesn't just mean Windows apps. We're evolving the platform itself to support and secure the growing number of enterprise web and SaaS apps critical to your business.Host: Andy WhitesideCo-host: Bill SuttonCo-host: Geremy MeyersCo-host: Todd Smith
