On September 13th, 2009, the lifeless body of Annie Le was found carelessly shoved in a wall in the basement of a Yale research building. In the first part of this split episode, Laura tells us about Annie's incredible but short life, the events that ended it, and how investigators tracked down the man responsible. Tragedy seemed to follow Nathan Carman. First, his grandfather was murdered, then his mother died in a tragic boating accident. Coincidence? In the second half of this episode, Marina explains the millions of reasons pointing to something more sinister than misfortune.

When a young bride to be goes missing 5 days before her wedding day, is it cold feet or foul play? Listen along as I analyze the case of Annie Le, the Yale doctorate student who went missing and was then found on the day she was supposed to get married.Music by GioeleFazzeri from Pixabay
Annie Le was a brilliant young woman destined for greatness. While enrolled in a pharmacology graduate program at Yale University, Annie was just days away from marrying her college sweetheart. However, on September 8, 2009, Annie vanished from the campus laboratory in which she regularly worked. Annie's disappearance sent shockwaves across the campus and tragically on September 13, 2009, the day she was to be wed, Annie's body was discovered. Retired New Haven Police Lieutenant Lisa Dadio discusses her involvement with the investigation, how it evolved from a missing person case to a murder case, and how their work led to the swift arrest of Raymond Clark III. Lisa Dadio spent 20 years with the New Haven Police Department, 16 of which were spent with the detective division. After ultimately rising to the rank of Lieutenant and commanding the Major Crimes Unit, Lisa retired from law enforcement and entered into the realm of higher education. She currently serves as the Assistant Dean for the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences at the University of New Haven. Episode 17 Annie Le In 2009, pharmacology graduate student and soon-to-be bride Annie Le went to her research lab in the basement of a medical research facility at Yale University. She never left. She was finally found on her wedding day, stuffed into a tiny hole behind a wall panel in the laboratory building locker room. Investigators knew that her killer had to be someone with access to the facility – someone who, like Annie, was affiliated with Yale. And it was not long before they homed in on their suspect – a laboratory technician with no known relationship with Annie. What motivated Raymond Clark III to kill Annie Le? How was he able to hide her body – and much of the evidence – without attracting any attention during a busy school day? And – did an incident in his past foreshadow what he was capable of? It's back to school time, twisted listeners! And as you know, we listers love us a timely theme, so we're doing cases of people murdered while on campus!Diva and Cindy went to college together, and even lived in the same dorm, so they know just how wild college campuses can be (kidding, their campus was very boring) and Diva went on to go to school at UC Santa Barbara, where many tragedies have taken place, so beyond being timely, this subject matter hits close to home. Our cases this week include incredibly negligent police, a coworker with no sense of discretion, a possible Zodiac connection, and sadly, another First Nations murder. Everyone who knew Annie described her as a bright and smart young woman and when she disappeared just 5 days before she was due to get married, her husband-to-be knew that it wasn't a case of cold feet. Before Annie could ever graduate and walk across the stage at Yale, her life was taken away from her. On this week's episode of True Crime New England, Katie and Liz discuss the brutal murder of a 24-year-old Yale student. Studying for her doctorate in pharmacology, Annie Le was a smart spitfire of a girl who was engaged to her equally as intelligent fiancé. On September 8th, 2009, Annie left her office to head to the research lab on Amistad Street in New Haven, Connecticut. Surveillance cameras show her walking into the building, but they never capture her leaving. Due to keycard activity logs that are used in the Yale buildings, police were able to track a lab technician, Raymond Clark III, and discovered that he was the last person to see Annie. It wasn't long before the evidence was stacked up against him, and the police uncovered Annie's body shoved in a wall of the building. Tune in to hear the disturbing story of the future of a brilliant student being cut short. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/truecrimene/support
Patricia Douglas had been misled. She, like all the other girls and young women who'd answered MGM's casting call, thought she'd been hired to dance in a movie. Instead, she was taken to a wild party, held in honor of MGM's salesmen. Patricia did her best to avoid a creepy salesman named David Ross, but he followed her into the parking lot and attacked her. Then Brandi tells us about the disappearance of Annie Le. Annie had a lot going on. She was a busy doctoral student at Yale School of Medicine's Department of Pharmacology. In a few days, she was set to marry the love of her life. But then she disappeared. Surveillance footage showed her entering a Yale building, but never leaving. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia.
