Our culture despises judgment. But it's not just judgments in a legal setting that are so disdained, it is discrimination—choosing anything over anything else—that our culture finds disgusting. That attitude has crept into the Church. In this vivid episode I work through how it is that we should look forward to the day of our judgment! The cosmos itself eagerly anticipates God's final judgment day, the Day of the Lord. To make my case I work through both some of Jesus' own sayings and what the book of Revelation shows us about judgment. March 20, 2026 Daily Devotional: “The Beauty of God's Timing”Isaiah 60:22  ​"The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly.” ​We live in a world obsessed with "big", a world that prizes "speed". We want the promotion now, the healing now, and the answers yesterday. When we look at our lives and see small beginnings or perhaps feellike the "least" in the room, it is easy to feel overlooked by God. ​Isaiah 60:22 offers a profound shift in perspective. It reminds us that God is not just the God of the outcome; He is the God of the timing. Track big data, chase big dreams, and celebrate big breaks. In the middle of this hustle, it's easy to feel like our "small" is a sign of failure. We look at our small progress, our small influence, or our small bank accounts and wonder if God hasforgotten us in the corners of the world. This verse flips the tension in the "wait". It isn't just a pep talk; it's a sovereignty statement. The verse starts with a radical transformation; the "least" becoming a thousand. God loves to work with small things because it ensures that when the growth happens, the glory belongs to Him. If you feel small, insignificant, or "behind" today, remember that you are the perfect canvas for a miracle. There is a beautiful tension in the divine paradox: "In its time I will do this swiftly.” This sounds like a contradiction. How can something be "in its time" which implies waiting and "swift" which implies speed? ​It means that while the preparation may take years, the activation can happen in a moment. When the "due time" arrives, God moves with a momentum that no human effort can replicate. The delay isn't a denial; it's a gathering of strength. ​God specializes in the math of multiplication. He doesn't need a head start, and He doesn't need you to be "mighty" before He can move. He takes the "least", the person who feels overlooked or under-equipped and turns them into a thousand. He takes the "smallest" and builds a nation. ​The weight of the promise doesn't rest on your ability to grow yourself; it rests on His character. The verse ends with a powerful signature: "I am the Lord." He is the guarantor of the growth. If you are in a season of waiting, don't mistake God's silence for His absence. He is aligning the pieces. Your job isn't to force the "swiftly" to happen today; your job is to remain faithful in the "small" things so you are ready when the "thousand" arrives.

When was the last time we truly stopped to appreciate beauty for its own sake? This powerful exploration of God's beauty challenges us to slow down and recognize that we serve the perfection of beauty itself. Drawing from Psalms 27:4, 50:2, and 96, we're reminded that David's deepest desire was to dwell in God's house specifically to gaze upon His beauty. This isn't just poetic language—it's a profound theological truth. God reveals His beauty in two magnificent ways: through creation and through humanity. Genesis shows us that God didn't just create functionally—He created aesthetically, making things 'pleasant to the sight' as well as good for food. The Hebrew word 'tov' carries both meanings of good and beautiful, reminding us that God cares deeply about how things look. But here's where it gets personal: we bear God's image. Every person we encounter, whether we like them or not, whether they know God or not, carries the image of God. This transforms how we should treat others, speak to ourselves, and care for the world around us. The woman who poured expensive ointment on Jesus wasn't being wasteful—she was doing something beautiful, and Jesus defended her actions. Sometimes we need to appreciate and create beauty simply because it reflects the character of our beautiful God, not because it's the most practical or efficient choice. Have you ever wondered how to make sense of God's promises when they seem unfulfilled? Romans 11 takes us on a remarkable journey from confusion to worship as we explore God's sovereign plan of salvation.Paul begins with a burning question: Has God rejected His people? If salvation comes through faith in Christ alone, what about the many Jewish people who haven't embraced Jesus? The apostle's answer is a resounding "By no means!" He offers himself as living proof—a Jewish believer from the tribe of Benjamin who found salvation in Christ. Throughout Israel's history, God has always maintained a faithful remnant according to His gracious election, just as He preserved 7,000 followers during Elijah's time who hadn't bowed to Baal.Through the powerful metaphor of an olive tree, we discover how natural branches (unbelieving Jews) are broken off while wild olive shoots (Gentiles) are grafted in through faith. This illustration reveals a profound truth: salvation comes only by grace for everyone. For Gentile believers, this requires humility. If God can graft wild branches into His cultivated tree, how much more can He restore natural branches that return through faith?The most hopeful revelation comes when Paul unveils God's ultimate plan—a future large-scale revival among Jewish people who will recognize Jesus as their Messiah. While the timing remains mysterious, the promise stands firm. God's redemptive story includes both widespread Gentile salvation and a remarkable restoration of many Jewish people through faith in Christ.What's most striking is how Paul concludes this complex theological discussion. After wrestling with difficult questions about God's sovereignty and redemptive plan, he doesn't offer neat explanations. Instead, he erupts in worship: "Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!" When we reach the limits of understanding God's sovereign ways, worship becomes our most authentic response.Where do you stand in this story? Are you already grafted into God's family tree through faith in Christ? Or perhaps today is your opportunity to become part of His family. The invitation remains open to everyone who trusts in Jesus.

May is Stroke Awareness Month. Strokes can happen to anyone at any age. When I had a stroke in 1972 at age 2, that wasn't the case. Back then, strokes happened to people 65 years and older who were unhealthy: obese, smoker, drinker, and rarely exercised.My guest, Lori Vober, is also a stroke survivor. Her hemorrhagic stroke happened when she was twenty-nine years old.
