Insulin Resistance in Women: Why Weight Loss, Energy, and Hormones Feel Stuck (Ep. 115)

Today's episode is a metabolic reality episode because insulin resistance isn't rare and it's not something that suddenly appears out of nowhere. If we zoom out and we look at the landscape of metabolic disease, type two diabetes, cardiovascular disease, non- alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin resistance sits at the center of all of it. And when we look at the data, close to ninety percent of metabolic disease is driven by lifestyle factors. This means it's how we eat, how we sleep, how we move, how we manage stress, and how sedentary or active we are over time. That makes this an everyday conversation. Insulin resistance shows up in women long before anyone ever uses that language. And most women, they can feel it before they can name it. We'll unpack insulin resistance, how this affects women different than men, insulin signaling, and what we need to do as women to stave off this complex issue.   Time Stamps:   (0:48) Insulin Resistance (4:15) Gender Differences with Insulin Resistance (8:30) Insulin and Insulin Signaling (13:50) What We Need As Women ----------  Apply for SF Coaching Method  https://sarahfechter.ac-page.com/sfhq-cc Complimentary Health Content  https://sarahfechter.ac-page.com/Health_Wellness_Community ----------  Follow Me On Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/sarahfechter.ifbbpro/   Check Out My Website - https://www.sarahfechter.com ----------  This Podcast is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute the practice of medicine, nursing, other professional health care services, or any professional practice of any kind. But Mel also has the life experience. She grew up in the Western Suburbs of Sydney in a violent, often inconsistent household and came back from less than nothing in her early thirties, after giving all of her money to charity (a move she instantly regretted). Despite these starts, set-backs and mistakes – she is now a multi-millionaire gaining financial independence from the strategies she put in place for herself. Mel genuinely believes, as a result of her own story and working with tens of thousands of women and families, that understanding how to build wealth shouldn't be abdicated or just for the select few who can afford it – but is something that everyone can achieve. Mel is regularly asked to comment on money and finances making regular TV and radio appearances including Triple J's The Hack, the Today Show, Weekend Sunrise, Weekend Today, Sky Business and The Daily Edition. She has also been featured in or written articles for a variety of places including CEO Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Who, Vogue, Yahoo Finance and had a fortnightly column in the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne's Age for 7 years.

TELL The Everyday Life Lesson

Episode Overview: In this deeply insightful episode, Jean explore how religious language impacts survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The conversation intricately examines the interfaces between trauma, faith, and the body—challenging common assumptions and inviting listeners to consider the nuanced ways reassurance can help or hinder real healing. ' A brief note for transparency, the structure of this interview was created with the support of AI. While the insights and answers you'll  hear are Jean Dorff's own.' What's Covered in This Episode: - The Body's Response to Disclosure:   Jean shares what happens at a nervous system level when survivors hear religious reassurance after disclosing abuse. Sometimes reassurance is calming, but other times it creates subtle pressure, making survivors feel responsible for the listener's comfort. - Metabolizing Meaning Beyond the Mind:     The hosts discuss why meaning-making isn't purely cognitive—the body itself must have safety and regulation in order to integrate new understandings, especially after trauma. - Moral Labeling and Identity Injury:   Jean reflects on how moral labels (e.g., "dirty," "whore," "bastard") inflict lasting harm, fusing selfhood with trauma and making certain religious reassurances unintentionally reinforcing of shame. - Gender Differences in Trauma and Faith:    The discussion highlights how men and women experience religious frameworks differently in the wake of abuse, with men often lacking permission to recognize harm due to cultural ideals of masculinity. - The Collapse of Belief and Its Impact:    The episode examines what happens when survivors, especially those abused by clergy, lose faith—not only in doctrine but in their communities—leading to significant declines in mental health unless they find safe spaces for doubt. - Threshold Moments and New Meanings:   Jean describes the vulnerable stage when old beliefs fall apart but new ones aren't formed yet, arguing this moment, if properly supported, is pivotal for authentic healing. - Trauma-Informed Spiritual Support:   The conversation centers on ethical, non-directive presence: not pushing for quick resolution, but offering space for survivors' own meaning to develop with safety in mind. - Relief vs. Vitality:     Differentiating between temporary relief (which keeps survivors functioning) and true vitality (which brings a return of aliveness), the episode underscores the importance of moving beyond easy answers. - A Key Reframe for Faith Leaders and Clinicians:     Jean leaves listeners with an essential message: "Religious language is not neutral–it's an intervention. Meaning must follow safety, not precede it." Pausing for safety is where true healing begins. Key Takeaways: - Timing matters: The impact of religious reassurance depends on the survivor's readiness and sense of safety. - The nervous system leads: Healing unfolds when the body is allowed to guide the process, not just the mind. - Authenticity over performance: Survivors need the choice to question and rework their beliefs at their own pace. - Ethical restraint: Faith leaders' ability to tolerate uncertainty is more healing than immediate explanations. Memorable Quote: "Meaning must follow safety, not precede it. If we understood that, much secondary harm would stop—not because faith disappears, but because people learn to wait." – Jean Dorff Thank You for Listening This episode is a must-listen for survivors, clinicians, faith leaders, and anyone interested in trauma and spiritual care. Jean remind us that genuine support comes from presence and patience, not premature reassurance. *The Empowering Story Podcast will be here when you're ready to return.*

Christian Soul Prepper Podcast

Send us a textIn “Gender Blenders”, we will be covering Gender Differences & Roles, Women Pastors, Sex Changes, Homosexuality, Incest, and Angels Mating With Humans.Gender Roles: It is not the genitalia that matters most, it is the spirit God placed into the body that matters. The genitalia represent the “Role” and the “Spirit” of that person that was given by God Himself. Men are given leadership spirits, and women are given fellowship spirits. They are to be in fellowship with the leader in their life. That is why Satan wants to try to reverse engineer the sexual anatomy of people. Satan wants sex changes and sexual emulsification to try to prevent and change God given and clearly assigned spiritual roles. These roles are clearly represented by the reproductive organs given that individual at birth. You cannot change the type of spirit God has assigned to the individual, yet a person's spirit can become dominated by demonic forces. Which makes their own spirit submit to spiritual, and then sexual perversion. With this in mind, we must start out with God's original design and a great lie of Satan.Lie: Women & Men Are Created Equal.Truth: Women & Men Are One In Christ.Websitehttps://brotherlance.com/gender-blender/Watch The Videohttps://youtu.be/OkP26eKjOEMNew IntroSupport the showBecome A SupporterJOIN US!> Main Website: https://brotherlance.com/> Free Book: http://weshallbelikehim.com/> Free Music: https://brotherlance.com/brother-lance-music/> Social - Gab: https://gab.com/BrotherLance

The wife having sex 5+ times a week who's being pressured to set midnight alarms so her husband can wake her up for more—why this isn't about frequency at all, and the real need he's actually trying to fill. That guy who insists oral sex should only happen "on special occasions" because it gets "taken for granted": what this scarcity mindset reveals about his past relationships, his skill anxiety, or his actual preference—and whether this is a dealbreaker you're discovering early. The biological reason men wake up ready for sex in the middle of the night while their partners are deep asleep—and why disrupting your sleep hygiene to feel "desired" is a Band-Aid on a much deeper issue. When your partner believes doing something too often creates expectations they can't meet: the philosophy problem that shows up in bed and everywhere else, and what "taken for granted" really means about their view on compliments, effort, and intimacy. Why oral sex as foreplay is the norm, not the exception—and how to navigate a partner who sees it as the main event that loses its magic with repetition. Plus: the conversation framework for exploring where your partner's sexual beliefs actually come from, and why the first few months of dating are just data collection on whether you're actually compatible. What Fresh Hell: Laughing in the Face of Motherhood | Parenting Tips From Funny Moms

Amy and Margaret tackle one of women's most exhausting challenges: the nonstop onslaught of small asks, random requests, invisible labor, and mental load that quietly drains them. They break down why saying "no” to additional responsibilities is not laziness, and why "just say no to" is actually not a realistic option in many situations. Drawing on real-life examples, Amy and Margaret explore the emotional calculus behind every “yes,” the hidden costs of over-accommodating, and why moms often feel pressure to be endlessly available. They offer practical scripts, boundary strategies, and mindset shifts to help you pause before automatically agreeing, tolerate the discomfort of disappointing others, and value your own limits. What actually shapes the way we connect with our babies? Our biology or our environment? In this episode of The Birth Lounge Podcast, HeHe sits down with neuroscientist Dr. Rocio Zunini to unpack the wildly fascinating science of parenthood and attachment styles. You'll learn how your brain literally changes during pregnancy and parenting (yes, your brain rewires itself!), why nurturing is far more powerful than we ever realized, and how those early interactions shape lifelong emotional regulation and resilience. Dr. Zunini breaks down groundbreaking research on how nurturing behavior in animals translates to humans, from secure to anxious, avoidant, and disorganized attachment styles and what that means for how we show up as parents. They also dig into how mothers' and fathers' brains adapt differently, the critical role of “allo parents” (those loving caregivers beyond mom and dad), and how awareness and mindful connection can actually rewrite generational patterns. Calf muscles are notoriously difficult to grow in strength. Tendons require time to recover and adapt to training loads. Gabby Reece sits down with William von Hempel to explore the essential role of human connection in our happiness and overall well-being. Together, they unpack the ongoing tension between our craving for independence and our deep need for community—highlighting how modern life often pushes us toward isolation. The conversation spans gender differences in how we connect, the effects of technology on our relationships, and actionable ways to build real community in today's world. They also dive into parenting in the digital age, the pressure of social comparison, and how to stay present in a fast-paced, screen-heavy culture. From shifting gender roles to leadership, social anxiety, and the art of reinventing oneself with age, this wide-ranging dialogue underscores one central truth: connection isn't just helpful—it's foundational to a fulfilling life. For nearly a century, scientists believed we had discovered ALL of the essential fatty acids the human body needs. But what if they were wrong? Stephanie Venn-Watson, a veterinary epidemiologist and longevity researcher, joins Dave to reveal a groundbreaking discovery—a newly identified essential fatty acid, C15, that may hold the key to healthier aging and even longer lifespans. Originally uncovered in an unlikely place—U.S. Navy dolphins that were outliving their wild counterparts by decades—this forgotten fat is now shaking up the scientific community. So why hasn't anyone told you about it?? Decades of misguided dietary advice stripped this crucial nutrient from our food system, leaving an entire generation unknowingly deficient. Even worse, pregnant women have been some of the MOST hurt from this cruel change to our modern diet. Now, cutting-edge research is proving that C15 plays a critical role in cellular stability, mitochondrial function, and total mental health. What You'll Learn in This Episode: • The first new essential fatty acid discovered in nearly 100 years—and why it matters • How dolphins led to one of the BIGGEST breakthroughs in human nutrition • Why the removal of C15 from our diets is accelerating aging • The surprising connection between C15 and mental health • How this “missing” fat could outperform some of the biggest longevity drugs today! • What foods naturally contain C15—and should you supplement it? *** Get 15$ off Fatty15 at www.fatty15.com with code: DAVE *** SPONSORS Puori | Visit https://puori.com/dave and use code DAVE for 20% off.Calroy | Head to https://calroy.com/dave for an exclusive discount.
