Pointing out the problems that are plaguing America is pretty simple. Identifying solutions takes a bit more thought. Michael Ryan says, if you're scared for your country, here's what you can and must do. Truth isn't just a matter of being right. As Andrea Widburg explains, it's essential to the function of a Republic. Which is why the left is working so hard to manipulate it. Looking at the growing economic uncertainty, some of us wonder how we would weather hard times. Benjamin Williams explores the question, were Americans really better off during the Great Depression? As someone who makes use of AirBnBs when traveling, I've seen a lot of advantages to a short-term vacation rental over a hotel or motel. However, as Charles Hugh Smith explains, America's resort towns are being destroyed by these short-term rentals. Article of the Day: Lawrence W. Debates about what should or shouldn't be taught in RSE can so often be driven by misinformation, fear-mongering, and political agendas — but at what cost? Who does this benefit, and crucially, who does it harm? Evidence-based research has proven that high-quality sex education can not only protect young people from countless harms, but give them the tools to navigate the real and online world with more agency, more empathy, and more control. Let's Talk About Sex (Education) is a one-off documentary examining some of the (many) reasons why a comprehensive and inclusive sex education curriculum matters. It features the voices of sex educators, journalists, students and others, all of whom wish they'd learned, wish they'd been taught, more. Let's Talk About Sex (Education) was produced and presented by Lucy Carr. It was mastered by Benjamin Williams. This is a Broccoli Production. Benjamin gives his insights on what it means to be an educator these days and what he sees as the strengths and weaknesses of Gen Z.Benjamin shares the challenges of messaging students as this group of people changes every 4 years. However, despite that, the basics of building up younger people remain the same: show authenticity to get authenticity, relationships remain the most important thing, and growth happens after failure—so don't be afraid to take risks! HIGHLIGHT QUOTESFear of failure disregards the fact that you CAN succeed - Benjamin: "I wouldn't be where I am today in my career if I hadn't been willing to fail. Taking risks and innovating means you're going to try something and it might not work. And if you're so afraid of what might not work, then you're going to be stuck in a job you don't like, in a place you don't like, doing things you don't like because you're afraid of what happens if you fail. But what if you succeed?"The number 1 skill to learn is relationship-building - Benjamin: "Put me in a room with strangers, I'm here for it. You don't have to be that, but you can for yourself as an individual figure out, well, how am I going to approach this person? What is my default elevator pitch? How do I want to start that conversation? And you build that skill, you practice it with people in your friend group and others. You just find it because you can go so much farther with relationships than anything else."Connect with our awesome guests: Benjamin | ChrisIf you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review on your favorite podcasting platform. Sharing the gospel isn't reserved only for charismatic personalities and extroverted Christians. That is exactly what the enemy would want us to believe so that a large portion of the church doesn't feel equipped, called, or empowered to share Christ and release His kingdom. We all are called to share the good news, but we aren't all called to do it in the same way. On the latest episode of Awaken Podcast, Michael Lombardo speaks with Pastor and Evangelist Benjamin Williams who has personally led over 50,000 people to Christ, and he claims to have an introverted personality naturally. Dr. Benjamin Williams talks about what we have to leave behind if we want to move ahead.
SHOW NOTES INTRODUCING BEN WILLIAMS! I never get tired of hearing from FFA students who have started businesses that require them to drive around when they are not old enough to drive. I run into this most often with landscaping businesses, but today's story is a bit different. Ben Williams wanted to do two things when he started the FFA his freshman year of high school and found out that he needed a supervised agricultural experience: support dairy farmers and start his own business. The way he decided to accomplish this was to purchase an old utility truck and convert it to an ice cream truck. Ben had a sound system and freezers wired and installed. He came up with a great name for his business, "Ben's Jammin Ice Cream" and he had the truck professionally wrapped with his business name and logo. Then he found a driver - his older brother, that could work for him and get him where he needed to be to sell ice cream. Ben knew that folks in the dairy industry were having a difficult time, so he decided to source his ice cream directly from a dairy in his area to help them open up a new revenue source. To get all of this started, Ben took out a loan for $10,000. Then he found an opportunity to obtain a $5,000 grant through a "shark tank" competition in his home state of Kentucky. He entered the competition, and he was one of the winners. He used the $5,000 to pay down some debt and to make some further repairs on his truck. Ben is well on his way, and I am so glad that nobody stood in front of him and said "you're a freshman, you can't do that". In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants. With your donations, more students can get this head start - pay it forward. REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA: Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world. FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food. Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation. The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth. Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store: “The future of American agriculture depends on the involvement and investment in America’s youth, In order to prepare for the population of tomorrow, we need to encourage America’s youth today, and show that careers in agriculture are profitable, rewarding, and vital.”.
