Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) Episode 442: STEPHEN MCWHIRTER Acclaimed singer/songwriter and worship leader Stephen McWhirter and GRAMMY® and Stellar-nominated recording artist Jason Clayborn have joined forces for Highest Praise, a rousing celebration of soul-drenched worship bowing October 8 from Lula Street Records (Integrity Music). The nine-track live studio set pairs the duo's impassioned lead vocals with classic rock, Motown, Gospel, and contemporary worship moments.  Produced and co-written by McWhirter, Highest Praise also features eight selections co-penned by Clayborn. The title cut—a Stevie Wonder-meets-Humble Pie groove—is a joyful anthem crossing cultural and musical divides in unified worship. Additional highlights of Highest Praise include the Motown slow-burner “God Be Yourself,” a prayer which clings to His character even in the most difficult circumstances; the modern worship declaration of “Let There Be Love”; and “The Yes Song,” a resounding testament to the promises of God.  Highest Praise follows the duo's debut collaboration, McWhirter's 2020 Choir Sessions (feat. Jason Clayborn & The Atmosphere Changers). McWhirter and Clayborn also wrote and recorded the Christmas anthem “Born A King,” which was featured in last year's Christmas special for the blockbuster television series The Chosen.    Stephen McWhirter is a touring worship leader, producer, speaker and author whose powerful testimony of divine deliverance from addiction is the cornerstone of his ministry platform. A founding member of the former worship collective Iron Bell Music, he is also a songwriter with Essential Music Publishing/Sony PLG and a Lula Street (Integrity Music) recording artist.  Tyscot recording artist Jason Clayborn is a GRAMMY® and Stellar Award nominee and former member of the renowned hip-hop/gospel group The Righteous Riders. Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to being grateful. Being grateful for the good and the bad. Often times we're only grateful for the “good” that happens in our lives. However, it's important to be grateful for the “not-so-good” as well. What do I mean? How many times have you said, “thank you” for a gift, a job promotion or a kind gesture? Probably more times than you can count. When was the last time you said, “thank you” for someone telling you ‘no,' breaking your heart or thanking God for a ‘failed' opportunity? The answer? Probably NOT EVER! I am here to tell you to say, “thank you” and count it ALL joy! See every ‘setback' you have in your life is a setup for a come-up. Those setbacks set you up for who you are today. Who you are today, right now, in this moment is all that you'll ever be in this moment. Be grateful. You've gained so much wisdom and knowledge. It's who you are. Learn to love yourself because either you can stay the same or love yourself enough to change. Shouting at the top of my lungs, like the choir singing in Bishop Hezekiah Walker's hit single, “Grateful,” I can say, “flowing from my heart are the issues of my heart. It's gratefulness.” Whatever it is that you are going through. Count it all joy. Stop asking the question, “Why me?” Instead, look at yourself and say, “Why not me?” Just as things have worked in your favor in the past, be sure to shout, ‘Thank You!' for everything that did not. What is meant to be will be. If it's not alright, it's not over. It ain't over until it's alright. Be grateful and say it with me, “THANK YOU!” That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D" be sure to follow me on all social media @DawnDaiSpeaks and until next time, always remember, “You are your greatest asset!” Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Presenting: “Vincent Bohanan & The Sound of Victory Fellowship Choir” Young minorities who have experienced poverty stricken circumstances or who feel alienated and rejected by society are turning their lives around and evangelizing to all who will lend an open heart, thanks to the music ministry of “Vincent Bohanan and The Sound of Victory Fellowship Choir.” This choir allows 60+ young singers and musicians, predominantly in their twenties, commuting from across the New York City Metropolitan area, to join their voices in the heart of Brooklyn every week. Through their Gospel music, Bohanan and the singers offer a message of hope throughout the city and abroad. The choir presented their first year anniversary concert on January 16, 2015 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan to a packed audience which included the likings of gospel music greats Grammy Award winning artist Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Stellar Award winning artist Dr. Ricky Dillard and Choirmaster Bishop J.C. White. Visionary Vincent Bohanan, 25, founded The Sound of Victory Fellowship Choir just two years ago. Bohanan, who nurtured his musical virtuosity as a young child, was fortunate to have been mentored and has developed his credentials into a list of accomplishments with esteemed musical groups. Bohanan, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Business & Audio from Five Towns College, has had the opportunities to work with the Institutional Radio Choir and alongside Vy Higginsen and the Mama Foundation, a highly respected performing arts foundation located in Harlem. He is now branching out and sharing his musical affluence in a fresh, innovative and original way with the birth of The Sound of Victory Fellowship Choir, also known as “SOV.” Bohanan writes and composes all of the choir’s music. SOV was established to help overcome the negative image associated with today’s generation of young adults and to provide them with the platform and outlet to freely develop and express their musical talents in a positive way. The SOV singers come from various demographics and backgrounds. For some, membership in this choir provides the only sense of family and belonging that they have ever experienced. As some of the singers don’t even have a spiritual home, SOV provides their only experience of church right now. The choir has enabled them to join together in a Gospel-rooted, nurturing and musical environment to inspire and empower all people through song. Outreach and compassion are also at the core of SOV’s ministry. Indeed, the ensemble’s first community service event in June of 2014 was in line with the Gospel of Matthew 25:36 “I was naked and you clothed me.” SOV distributed free clothes and shoes; and of course they ministered through song with a free concert on the streets of Brooklyn. Highlights from the choir’s first two years in ministry consist of recording with Grammy Award winning gospel artist Cece Winans, backing up P.Diddy for a Biggie Smalls tribute during the 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend and being a featured choir for Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s annual Resurrection Sunday Concert. As an independent recording artist, the choir astonished the music world with the release of their second single “He Reigns,” which debuted on the Billboard Gospel Digital Downloads chart at #4. After drawing over 1,000 people to Bridgeport, Connecticut in January of 2016 to witness the live recording of their first album “One Sound,” SOV anticipates touring this spring to promote the release. The choir looks forward to fulfilling their ever growing demand for appearance from organizations all over the country throughout the year of 2016 and completing their first request for appearance outside of the country in Montreal, Canada this spring.
