Taylor Ros shares his inspiring journey from being a shy kid to becoming a successful business owner, professional athlete, and coach. The episode is packed with valuable insights and lessons on entrepreneurship, fitness, and mindset that resonate with anyone striving for personal and professional growth. Taylor Ros opens up about the challenges he faced when he decided to open a gym with his dad, acknowledging his lack of knowledge about running a business. This led to a steep learning curve as he navigated aspects like taxes, incorporation, and business management. However, his dedication and willingness to learn allowed him to overcome these obstacles and excel in the fitness industry. The pandemic forced the shutdown of his business, prompting him to pivot and create an online platform to keep his community connected and provide virtual services, demonstrating his resilience and adaptability. Consistency emerges as a central theme throughout the episode, with Taylor emphasizing its crucial role in achieving long-term success in fitness and life. He shares how his transition from professional athlete to gym owner and online coach happened organically, with the pandemic accelerating the online aspect of his coaching. Taylor's emphasis on daily disciplines and consistency as crucial elements in developing mental discipline and resilience resonates profoundly, as he draws parallels to the dedication shown by Olympic athletes. The challenges of entrepreneurship are also addressed, with Taylor discussing the lack of set working hours and the direct impact of one's efforts on the success of the business. The necessity of balancing work and personal life is underscored, with both Wize El Jefe and Taylor highlighting the value of scheduling and time management. This discussion is complemented by Taylor's personal experience of overworking, resulting in physical symptoms like headaches and nausea, leading to a powerful realization about the need to prioritize time for family and self-care. Taylor's journey to empowerment is not just about personal success; it's also about his deep commitment to helping others achieve their fitness and mindset goals. He shares a success story of coaching a fighter, Ozzie Diaz, who made a triumphant comeback after 19 months, affirming the value of perseverance and teamwork in achieving goals. Taylor's legacy goal in the fitness industry is to help people find enjoyable ways to stay healthy and fit, making it a fun and educational experience for them. His dedication to impacting as many people as possible and inspiring them to realize their full potential reflects the profound impact he seeks to make in the lives of others. The episode also touches on the importance of continuous learning and mentorship as a coach and entrepreneur. Both Taylor and Wize El Jefe stress the need to evolve and improve constantly, highlighting their commitment to efficiency and creating better systems to streamline their work. The significance of building relationships and learning from others is also discussed, emphasizing the value of consistently working hard and not giving up. This spring I'm releasing bonus episodes of The Take Home. No new lectures on leadership, instead I'm sharing the amazing podcasts created by the students in my Leadership for Sport Professionals class. Today's bonus episode features "Captain Campfire" produced and created by Aliya Jackson, Yonnell Esprit, and Blake Poole. The podcast motto "Winning isn't just a goal, it's a mindset" sets the foundation for an excellent episode. In the podcast, they interview Trinity alumni Taylor Kotfas and Jimmy Tatum. Taylor is 2023 Graduate of Trinity University who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, with Minors in Business and Geosciences. She was a standout on the Trinity Women's team, including winning multiple conference championships and holding the school record in the 4x400. Jimmy has two degrees from Trinity, including his Masters in Accountancy which he earned in 2021. He played baseball during his undergraduate days at Trinity and is currently a Senior Audit Associate at KPMG. They discuss principles of Authentic Leadership and various Gender and Leadership theories. Both Taylor and Jimmy offer great advice - and their perspective as more recent university graduates is refreshing and eye-opening. Taylor highlights that great leadership is about building relationships before anything else. She says people must know they are cared for and it's the leader's job to make sure people are equipped with the skills to become a little bit better each day. Jimmy talks about the power of authenticity and self-awareness. He says great leaders must be okay with themselves and that "it's okay to not know." Humility and learning from failure are key messages that surface throughout the conversations. The episode is fun and upbeat, and that Curveball segment is top shelf. I hope you enjoy! Taylor Rooks & Joy Taylor: Two Personal on The Pivot, Shedding the sports talk to tackle hot button topics and discuss issues personal to them by sharing life experiences and answering the questions everyone wants to know! In the ever-evolving world of sports media, Taylor Rooks and Joy Taylor continue to turn heads and establish themselves as rising stars in a competitive media space of sports and entertainment. Whether it is co-hosting shows, interviewing A-list athletes and celebrities, delivering sideline updates during games and headlining studio shows, the duo has independently created a niche as some of the most respected in the business. But now, they are teaming up together for a new podcast, Two Personal, a weekly series going beyond what viewers see on television, diving deep into the lives of them as close friends and media trailblazers. With equal parts humor and wisdom, they talk culture and social issues while fearlessly exploring complex topics like relationships and dating, body image, racism, sexism, mental health and more. Sitting with Ryan, Channing and Fred, Joy and Taylor share their vision behind the podcast, the barriers they are trying to break and why they are comfortable being unapologetic in their own voice with sensitive topics and public pushback. Channing has known Joy for over 20 years after playing along side her Hall of Fame brother, Jason Taylor and how exposure to his career helped shape her own journey in sports. As the current co-host of “Speak” and veteran Fox Sports personality, Joy opens up about how her perspective being shaped through her experiences, pointing to the ways in which audiences interact with her content. Taylor's authenticity in interviews has made her one of the industry's best, and she mentions how the choosing her words carefully enables people to let guard down and open up. Whether it is Bleacher Report, Turner Sports or Thursday Night Football, Rooks' presence can be felt on any panel or sideline as a premiere talent, but that doesn't erase her from pushback and public scrutiny. Working in broadcast media, Ryan understands the expectations that come with being on tv and being viewed certain ways but not nearly the struggles Joy and Taylor face as females in sports as the two speak very candidly on the frustrations of viewers focusing more on their appearance and clothing than their sports commentary, often contriving falsities about their personal lives based on the work they do. Another hot topic talked about amongst the group was their varying opinions on relationships and objectifying women in general. Joy and Channing talk about the preference of having a guy who has female friends with Ryan and Fred weighing in their thoughts while Taylor later expands the conversation to the media frenzy of public relationships. Debunking many mistruths and internet inaccuracies, Joy and Taylor express frustrations with public assumptions and explain why it's sometimes difficult to be a respected female working in the sports world and have developed tough skin to rise above the noise. Both Taylor and Joy have worn many hats in their careers so far, but this candid podcast has shined a different light on them as people, revealing a side never seen before. New Pivot episodes drop on Tuesdays at 12 p.m. ET and Fridays at 3:30 p.m ET on YouTube, with audio available on all streaming platforms including Apple, Spotify and Amazon. As reported by E&P in May of 2023 (“Ghost papers: Journalists find themselves alone or with just a few left in the newsroom”), UNC's Hussman School of Journalism and Media's Knight Chair in Journalism and Digital Media Economics, Penelope Muse Abernathy stated, “Although the exact number is hard to pin down, we estimate, based on news accounts and industry data, at least 1,000 of the 7,200 newspapers still published in this country — and perhaps as many as 1,500 — have lost significantly more than half of their newsroom staff since 2004. As a result, they have become ‘ghost newspapers' with drastically curtailed reach and journalistic missions.” The article mentioned Abdulla Gaafarelkhalifa, who became the last remaining journalist at the St. Cloud (MN) Times, a Gannett-owned news brand that has served this city of nearly 70,000 since 1924. Gaafarelkhalifa told E&P that he found the responsibility and demands of his job as the last employee to be so overwhelming that it took a toll on his physical and mental health. So he publicly announced that he'd be taking some time off from the job — not to shame his employer, but to be transparent with the public about his leave. E&P has also reported on other communities that have suffered from downsized Gannett newsrooms, like Hutchinson, KS, a city of over 40,000 that had the family-owned, Pulitzer Prize-winning Hutchinson Newsfor years. Gannett bought the newspaper from the Harris family in 2016 and laid off most of the news staff, creating such a void that a local high-school junior, Michael Glenn, became frustrated with their coverage. In 2023, Glenn recruited a team of journalists and started the competing Hutchinson Tribune, where some days he out-reports the Gannett property ten to one on local stories. However, things at Gannett seemed to be changing recently, with more and more announcements of local reporters, managers and sales reps hired at the United States' largest media company. On this episode of “E&P Reports,” we get the inside story on Gannett Media's major hiring frenzy from their chief content officer, Kristin Roberts, and chief revenue officer, Jason Taylor. We learn about what is being called their “turnaround plan,” which has created hundreds of new local news media industry jobs in dozens of their markets across the U.S. Both Taylor and Roberts directly address the negative reporting that has been pointed at this media empire and how they are both bullish on the company's plans to continue serving their readers and advertisers.

This episode starts out full force and doesn't slow down as Taylor and Sam Johnston, of Alpha Body System, kick off the discussion by talking about the power and need to invest in ourselves, specifically our health. Taylor mentions something profound that Sam dives into with more detail. This is the sense that many of us don't even know what “good” feels or looks like. This is why investing in our own personal health and fitness is necessary. We see so many on the “after” side of the fitness journey and think that can never happen for us because we are in the “before.” We become complacent with the way things are. But when we start our wellness journey, all of the obstacles we face (like chronic illness) fade away, and feeling good starts to take on new meaning. With Sam's challenge to us that we should be radically different from others in our lives and to “be the weirdo,” the discussion transitions to the different ways and actions we can take to be able to invest in ourselves with everyone's favorite word– free. Taylor suggests things we have heard on the podcast before but become so much more meaningful when we think about the different benefits they could provide to us in the future. Things like sun exposure– watch the sunrise, guys. Taylor will even give you bonus points when you watch the sunrise barefoot! Get your body moving and go for a walk. Don't forget about the power of in-person meetings and connections, even physical touch. The all-important aspect of sleep. Practice your breathing– deep breathing, extend your exhale, maybe even breathing for performance as Taylor talks about as well. Finally, invest in your mindfulness as well with journaling and/or meditation. These are all things that are free, readily available, and can be done immediately. But what if you want to kick it up a notch? Invest in yourself financially, maybe? Both Taylor and Sam agree that the best way to go about this is to hire a coach. Whatever area of life you are trying to improve upon, hiring a coach could be the answer you are looking for. It will save you time which is a return on investment in more than one way.Tune in to learn more!Key Quotes“Your health is your Alpha system. It is GRAMMYS WEEK here on Talk Direction and Oh My God was it exciting! Harry Styles is the first member of One Direction to attend, perform at, and WIN at the Grammys. There was SO much to discuss: -Harry wore three different Gucci looks over the course of the night, all topped with colorful boas. Most notably, his performance look was a leather suit, no top, and green boa. -Harry opened the Grammys with a sultry version of Watermelon Sugar, arranged by singer/songwriter/producer Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange). We are obsessed and NEED Harry to work with Hynes more going forward. -Side Note: Sarah Jones, Harry’s drummer, smashed it on the drums in a full leather suit (gloves included) while very much pregnant! -Harry’s performance pod included HAIM, Black Pumas, and Billie Eilish, all of whom watched each other perform. -Harry won Best Pop Solo Performance for Watermelon Sugar and looked completely shocked. First of many to come in our opinions! -Finally we discuss the #Haylor (Harry & Taylor) and #Hizzo (Harry & Lizzo) moments of the night. Both Taylor and Lizzo looked FABULOUS and their support for Harry was truly lovely. Check out Talk Direction Down Low (TDDL) on patreon.com/talkdirection for EXTRA PODCAST CONTENT!! To continue the toxicity within fandom discussion we brought on three fans, Cassi, Taylor, and Jesus, who have all experienced stan culture first hand to talk in-depth about what it's like being a super fan in the days of social media. Both Taylor and Jesus are big fans of Taylor Swift and other mostly mainstream pop artists, whereas Cassi is a huge fan of British rockers, Catfish and the Bottlemen. Having trouble driving traffic to your content pages? The key is to understand methods of promoting content, including paid promotion on different platforms. In this episode, Solomon and Taylor talk about content marketing and strategies that they implement to increase the content’s visibility. Both Taylor and Solomon agree that one quality content, distributed across many platforms is better than a large amount of content distributed on one platform each. Some paid promotion options discussed in the talk are content discovery sites, long-tail search ads, carousel ads on Facebook and Instagram, promoted tweets, Reddit promoted posts, promoted pins, and Quora ads. I could seriously sit down with Taylor, grab some coffee, chat about anything, and feel like I have known her for years. Taylor has a laid back personality with an organized mind backed by an amazing team. No wonder they have been going full force since they first opened in 2017. Both Taylor and her husband, Preston, built and designed Chestnut Ridge. From being a total boss babe, a designer, a wife, and a mother of 3 rambunctious boys…what can she not do?
Welcome to LNT. This week Eric and Taylor talked about their early childhood and their Disney dreams. We also talk about being infected with the coronavirus and all the trending topics of last week. We hope you enjoy! Unfortunately, we recorded this video two days before the tragic news of Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Giana. We both are extremely torn up about his tragic incident. Both Taylor and I grew up playing Basketball and yelling the iconic term "Kobe" before you took a shot. We hope all can morn together and may Kobe and Giana Bryant, along with everyone else in the helicopter rest in peace. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Start off the summer with the new stars of Grease, Taylor Louderman and Bobby Conte Thornton performing May 28- June 29 at the Papermill Playhouse. They join host Robin Milling during their rehearsal in New York to talk about taking on the beloved roles of Sandy Dumbrowski and Danny Zuko. Broadway theater lovers may remember Taylor from Bring It On, but Bobby is making his musical stage debut while still in college balancing musical theater with playing tennis at the University of Michigan. Bobby tells Robin their show promises to take on more inspiration from the stage version than the movie which starred Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. The one change is adding 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' to their show which wasn't in the original musical. The other classic songs remain the same, but the two actors admit they had to step it up a bit learning the 50s style choreography of 'Hand Jive' by JoAnn M. Hunter. For their homework as members of the highschool gangs the Greasers and the Pink Ladies, they can still recall their former selves in highschool. Both Taylor and Bobby are the first in their families to make their way into show business. Bobby comes from a family of scientists while Taylor who grew up in Bourbon, Missouri says 'the cattle population exceeds the human population and there's really no theater!' Their families are very supportive of their careers and will no doubt be front row and center to see them starring in Grease!
