Listen hereto the entire composition. Organizational commitment and employee behavior Hello and welcome to “Work and Organizational Psychology with Gerhard Ohrband”, the only psychology podcast in the world in Turkish, with a German accent. In this episode, we will talk about Organizational commitment and employee behavior From the last episode, you will remember that there are three types of commitment: - Affective commitment: I stay, because I like my job. - Normative commitment: I feel obliged to stay. - Continuance commitment: Not staying would be too costly for me. Researchers in this area study the correlations of those three types of commitment with work-related criteria: - Turnover intentions - Actual turnover - Absenteeism - Job performance - Organizational citizen behavior. A meta-analysis by Meyer and others showed that affective commitment has the highest correlations with all those criteria. However, there are cultural differences. In more individualistic regions like North America, affective commitment is more important than in more collectivistic countries. There, normative commitment and continuance commitment are relatively more important. I thank you for listening to this podcast. I wish you a nice day, and, goodbye!
