As we get to mid-April we get to Rivalry Week Part 1, and we see classic games like North Carolina-Duke and Army-Navy. For the most part we have great conference clashes up and down the schedule this week. However, one giant non-conference game highlights the schedule this week. Central New York powerhouses Cornell and Syracuse head to Long Island to square off in the Game of the Week. D-Fly and Dixie are here to set the table for all of this week's feast. This year, Inside Lacrosse is proud to partner with the NCAA to offer you, our loyal listeners, $5 off all single-day ticket options (men and women) by using the code ILPOD at checkout. So head to NCAA.com/LaxTickets and enter ILPOD at checkout to purchase your tickets. You know you're going to go to Championship Weekend, so why not get $5 off and help us show the NCAA how awesome our listeners are by purchasing your tickets today. Our guest this week is Rutgers standout sophomore goalkeeper and 2024 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Cardin Stoller. Stoller has been excellent, especially in last week's upset Maryland in which he stopped 14 shots and scored his second goal of the season. The guys talk about Camp Takajo, the MIAA to Rutgers pipeline, redshirting, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, the 2025 Scarlet Knights season, his Rutgers teammates, Goaliesmith, the upcoming matchup with Michigan, swimming in the Inner Harbor, Boys' Latin all-time greats and much, much more. WEEKEND PREVIEW Six games in our preview this week, with five legit Top 20 matchups and two Top 10 games and one of the best rivalries in the sport to highlight this week's schedule.  SATURDAY No. 5 Army (9-1, 4-1 Patriot) at Navy (7-4, 3-2), 12:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network One of the best rivalries in the sport. Army has won the last two years, but Navy won 4-of-5 prior to that. While this is one of those rivalries where record truly doesn't matter, that is not the case. We haven't talked about Navy in a while, but they're right behind Army. No. 19 Johns Hopkins (6-5, 0-3 B1G) at No. 8 Penn State (7-3, 1-2), 1 p.m., Big Ten Plus What can you say? The Jays need this. Hopkins has controlled this series, winning last year and four of the last five meetings. However, this one is at Penn State, and the Nittany Lions have won four of the last five meetings in University Park. No. 6 Maryland (8-2, 1-2 B1G) at No. 2 Ohio State (11-1, 3-0), 2 p.m., Big Ten Network Big game in Columbus. Maryland has dominated this series, 14-3, and the Terps have won six in a row and eight of the last nine.  No. 7 North Carolina (8-2, 1-0 ACC) at No. 12 Duke (9-3, 0-1), 4 p.m., ACC Network Fans may remember last year when a depleted UNC shocked No. 2-ranked Duke, 15-12. The 2025 Tar Heels aren't going to sneak up on anybody. No. 4 Syracuse (9-2) vs. No. 1 Cornell (9-1), Uniondale, N.Y., 4 p.m., Corrigan Sports Network Cornell has won four of the last five, including two consecutive. The game has gone into OT each of the last two meetings, with Cornell winning 18-17 in 2OT last year, and 16-15 in 2022. We can only hope for another one as good as those. SUNDAY No. 14 Michigan (6-5, 2-1 B1G) at No. 18 Rutgers (6-6, 2-1), noon, Big Ten Network Rutgers is 10-1 all-time against Michigan, dating back to 2012. RU lost in Ann Arbor in 2015 in the first ever meeting of the two teams as Big Ten foes. Since then, Rutgers has won nine straight, including a 6-0 all-time record at home against the Wolverines. In this week's Ovie-themed Give & Go, the guys talk about Ovechkin breaking Gretzky's record and Ovie's status in the pantheon of Washington, D.C. all-time great pros. Lorraine has been creating with fiber since she was a young girl. As a child she would while away the hours sewing, crocheting, and working with crewelwork. She learned to sew garments at the side of her mother and paternal grandmother who were both gifted seamstress'. She is a self-taught artist. She began quilting in 1997 and immediately was intrigued with the design elements of the quilt. Thus, began her exploration of color, repetition, design, and texture. Soon Lorraine began to experiment with a more contemporary approach to textiles and developed her own artistic voice. Her creative roots are firmly embedded in the traditional needle arts and this is reflected in her current body of work. Inspired by her Faith, her travels and the natural world, she employs layers of both hand and machine stitches together with various surface design techniques. This unique approach allows her to successfully captures the depth, color, contrast, and texture of her subject matter. Since 1993 Lorraine had lived in the Ithaca area of the Finger Lakes Region in Central New York until 2019 when she relocated to The Villages, Florida. She recently retired from a career in nursing. She enjoys the support of her husband, their children, and grandchildren. Lorraine is an exhibiting textile artist and has won several awards for her fiber art.She owns and operates The Tangled Thread, a longarm quilting business; gives presentations and teaches classes focused on mixed media and stitched art. These days, she dedicates her energy to facilitating a group of twenty-five local artists, who meet twice a month to share and explore their common love for textile art. Lorraine also enjoys writing poetry and painting with acrylics and watercolor. Laura is a long time audio engineer for film whose career expanded into hearing health as an audiologist after over-exposing her ears to her work and the bustling metropolis of NYC. She ran the Sensaphonics Musician's Hearing Clinic, a Chicago-based institution for three years. Now based in Central New York, Laura provides traveling and concierge audiology services for musicians, media professionals, and music lovers, as well as teleaudiology consultations through Tuned. In addition to her doctorate degree from the City University of New York, she has a Music Technology master's and bachelor's degree from New York University and the University of Colorado at Denver, respectively. We go back to Ithaca, one of our CLR superstar districts, where we meet Christine Barley, a self-professed white anti-racist educator. Here this outstanding educator's fascinating journey to responsiveness. Born and raised in the Central New York, Chris provides a unique perspective and one that we wish were far more common. AUNTIE: Wa'tkwanonweráton Sewakwé:kon. Today, we're visiting with Alex Jacobs Blum who is Cayuga and Wolf Clan, from Six Nations of the Grand River.Raised away from her territory, Alex now engages dual tracks of art and curation to find a pathway—to the natural world, her Haudenosaunee teachings and community - and to herself.Alex shares her remarkable journey back to Cayuga territory in Central New York a few years back where she reconnected with ancestors to find her path forward.AJB: You know growing up - there was a lot of shame built up around my identity, so I had been working to unpack and unlearn that. And then when I was there - you know I just felt so validated in myself and I felt so surrounded by so much care.AUNTIE: Alex is well-known for surrounding others with the same type of care as she nurtures a supportive web of relationships, uplifts young artists, and weaves Indigenous perspectives into institutional spaces. Through her transformative work she disrupts hierarchical power structures in storytelling and creates space for collective, Indigenous, matrilineal voices to be amplified. And in the wake of her mother's recent passing, Alex's work has become a way to make sense of her own profound loss.If you're in region around Six Nations, you can experience Alex's work firsthand—her In the Shadow of the Eclipse residency is on view at the Art Gallery of Hamilton until March 16, 2025. This week on the Truth From The Stand podcast, I sit down with Ty Jennings, a hunter who brings a wealth of experience from Central New York's diverse terrain. Ty grew up steeped in hunting culture, learning the ropes from his family and evolving into a skilled public land hunter. We cover his journey through changing techniques and tools, including how technology like trail cameras fits into the balance between modern hunting and old-school woodsmanship. Ty breaks down his approach to chasing specific deer, emphasizing the importance of understanding terrain, habitat, and how weather impacts movement. We dive deep into strategies like wind manipulation, choosing access routes, and knowing when to push aggressively versus when to hang back. Ty even shares the story of the F9 Buck—an encounter full of hard lessons and valuable takeaways. We also explore the differences between ground hunting and hunting elevated in a tree, debating their advantages and how they play into different hunting scenarios. Throughout the conversation, Ty's passion for bow hunting, curiosity, and adaptability shines, offering insights for hunters of all experience levels. Whether you're a seasoned woodsman or just getting started, this episode has something for everyone. Send us a textEver wondered how the body rebels against the cold, like a neighbor with a rare condition? We share our tales from a snowy Central New York, using personal experiences with Raynaud's phenomenon and herpes outbreaks to highlight the surprising power of mindset in managing chronic conditions. Join us in exploring the profound journey of healing by embracing our human experiences, focusing on self-compassion, and practicing self-care. We invite you to discover how these principles can lead to resilience and transformation. Our conversation also ventures into the complexities of subconscious triggers and behaviors shaped by past traumas. We challenge the confines of traditional talk therapy, advocating for holistic approaches like somatic healing. By exposing the destructive patterns that unresolved issues can yield, we emphasize the importance of breaking these cycles for authentic emotional recovery. Through shared stories of personal growth, we reflect on the power of reshaping subconscious beliefs and embracing the narratives born from our experiences—paving the way for true healing. We then question prevailing spiritual practices, questioning whether techniques like meditation and mindfulness truly foster self-awareness or are mere distractions. We argue for a genuine spiritual connection that integrates both the physical and spiritual realms, emphasizing the necessity of presence. Our discussion spans privilege, patterns of abuse, and navigating loss, urging a conscious embrace of the human experience. Through these reflections, we encourage a journey toward enlightenment and higher consciousness, challenging listeners to make informed choices rooted in presence and awareness.
