Hey friends, Chase here. Ever feel like you're taking life a little too seriously? Wake up. Work. Hustle. Repeat. Somewhere along the way, we stopped playing—and started grinding through our days like machines. Why We Get Stuck in Serious Mode We were taught that being serious means being responsible. That fun is a distraction. That joy is something we earn. But let's be real—seriousness without joy just leads to burnout. Play Isn't the Opposite of Progress Play is where creativity begins. It's what makes challenges fun and failure less scary. It helps you breathe, think, connect, and feel again. You Don't Need Permission to Lighten Up You already know how to play, you've just forgotten. But it's still there, waiting. So try it. Loosen the grip. Smile more. Make life a little less rigid and a lot more yours. Until next time, stay curious, and stay in the game.
In this episode we discuss the movie Sinners and vampires! We also dive into supernatural creatures! Do you believe? Enjoy!
Whiny White liberals are complaining to me about how they felt penned in at a local protest in Staunton on Saturday. My message: one, stop being a whiny White liberal. Seriously, not a good look. Your problems with being protected from people who would rather run you over with a truck as they would spit on you are what we call First World problems. Two, and this one should be obvious: if you want to take your protest to other people and to elected leaders, you don't need anybody's permission.

“Why You Should Never Let Anyone Tell You ‘You Won't Make It'”On this ride, Lee, Christie, and Mike get real about one of the most common — and harmful — things kids in hockey (and beyond) hear: “You'll never make it.” Whether it's a coach, a parent, or even your own doubts, this episode is a rallying cry for young athletes to chase their dreams and embrace the journey — with eyes wide open and skates on the ice.We talk about why dreaming big matters, how to handle criticism, what it really takes to succeed, and why the path might change — and that's okay. This episode is all about believing in yourself, putting in the work, and owning your journey, no matter where it leads.Click To Text The Our Kids Play Hockey Team!
In this episode, Ben and Carl dive deep into the psychology of permission-seeking that stops so many creative professionals from taking the next step in their careers. Through the story of an artist hesitant to perform her first solo show, they explore why we often wait for external validation before pursuing our goals – whether that's raising our rates, reaching out to dream clients, or sharing our creative work.Discover:Why we fear judgment for actions that most people won't even noticeHow taking risks transforms skeptics into supportersThe assumptions that prevent us from sending that first message to potential clientsWhy bold mixing and production choices follow the same psychological patternHow success often comes to those willing to execute without permissionBen and Carl's Weekly Inspiration Playlist - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1IpnxDVoTY44JBV1j19H4h?si=0f80e020d8ae497eLA Wildfire Relief:Musicares - https://donor.musicares.org/page/lafirereliefWAMTN - https://give.wearemovingtheneedle.org/campaign/654724/donateLearn more about StudioLand - https://www.welcometostudioland.com/a/2147995182/bmyFf8p5Download our free guide: "The Future-Proof Mixing Engineer: 8 Essential Skills for 2024 and Beyond" - https://mpe-ebook.benwallick.com/future-proof-mixingConnect with us:Secret Sonics - https://www.instagram.com/secretsonicsBen - https://www.instagram.com/benwallickmusic/Carl - https://www.instagram.com/carlbahner/Learn more:https://www.benwallick.com/https://www.carlbahner.com/This episode with edited by Gavi Kutliroff - https://www.instagram.com/pleasant_peasant_music/
In Episode 220 of the Joyful DVM podcast, Dr. Cari Wise addresses a universal yet often emotionally charged topic in the veterinary profession: leaving a job. She explores why it's perfectly okay to move on; and how to do it with integrity, clarity, and grace. Whether you're running toward a new opportunity or running away from a challenging environment, this episode provides practical wisdom and encouragement for navigating professional transitions without burning bridges.Key Takeaways:You Don't Need Permission to Leave: Your desire to move on is valid, even if others don't understand it. The most important thing is that you like your reason for leaving.Clarity is Power: Understanding why you want to leave — whether you're running from discomfort or running toward opportunity — is crucial. The latter tends to lead to more fulfilling results.Avoid the "Same Situation, Different Clinic" Trap: If you're only trying to escape a bad experience without fully understanding the root cause, you may end up recreating that experience in your next role.Small Profession, Big Connections: The veterinary world is tightly knit. Leaving with grace preserves relationships that might benefit you in the future.Preserve Your Peace: Departing from a job should be an act of empowerment, not destruction. You owe it to yourself to walk away in a way that maintains your integrity and peace of mind.Resources & Links:Website: www.joyfuldvm.comLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/18257625/Instagram: www.instagram.com/joyfuldvmFacebook: www.facebook.com/JoyfulDVM/✨ If this episode resonated with you, share it with a friend in the veterinary profession! If you're thinking about leaving the law but feel stuck, ask yourself this question. Who are you waiting for permission from? Many lawyers aren't just worried about logistics. They feel like they need approval. They worry about how their family, friends, or partner will react. They feel the need to justify their decision and have others validate that leaving is the right move. But the only permission you need is your own.See show notes at formerlawyer.com/259
We all have the ability to create. So why do some people feel they need permission in order to move forward with their ideas? Dan Sullivan and Jeffrey Madoff discuss how to cast off the need for permission and create value like you were meant to do. Show Notes: Permission means that you can't move forward unless someone else says you can. If you're asking permission, you're giving someone power to exercise over you in certain situations. Some people's first consideration when they have a new idea is to prepare a proposal and get permission to move forward. Some parents give their children free rein to do whatever they want to do. If you have a lot of children, you have to manage, not just parent. Being a parent is like being a business owner in that you're always being watched. If you ignore your surroundings and you aren't tuned in, you can get old without having any wisdom. When you go for the easiest, fastest solution, you're usually going for the worst one. In this episode, we speak with Scarlett Longstreet, a madre of 3, who said EFF IT and decided to get out of her marriage before she thought she would. She had known it was over for a one time but was determined to stick through it till her kids graduated from high school. But she realized that she wasn't able to be the good mom that she always wanted to be because she was in a marriage that she knew was over. So, she got out of it, and even though it was hard, she knew it was the best decision she could make for herself and her kids. What would you do if your child came to you with the same issue that you are currently having? We want the best for our kids, but for some reason, sometimes, we don't give ourselves that same grace that we need. It's so important that we follow the advice that we would give our kids! To follow Scarlett, give her a follow at @scarlettlongstreet.

Hey friend, Ever feel like you're waiting for a nod or a green light to just... breathe? To decide what's truly right for you and your family? You're not alone. This episode is all about breaking free from the ‘permission slip' we think we need—whether it's to pause for self-care, shift gears, or dive into homeschooling. It's time to talk about why we stall, waiting for approval that, deep down, we know we don't need. Why do we do this to ourselves? Guilt, doubt, fear of judgment—these shadows loom over us, making decisions feel heavier than they should. We're diving deep into self-trust (or the lack thereof), the fear of falling behind, and the worry about what others will think. It's these feelings that often send us seeking validation from anyone but ourselves. Tune in for a real talk on granting ourselves the permission to live on our terms. Discover strategies to manage the inner critic, celebrate our autonomy in homeschooling, and more. You'll learn to embrace planning with flexibility and how to build your own circle of trust for those moments when you crave a bit of backup in your choices. Though we zero in on homeschooling, this episode is a must-listen if you've been waiting for someone else to say “It's okay” about any aspect of your life. Listen, breathe easier, and share the journey with a friend. It's time to claim the power of your choices. xo, Inga, your Homeschool Life Coach

Peter Denbigh grew up in what he describes as “the middle of nowhere,” Virginia. He wanted more, and as soon as he was old enough, he used his entrepreneurial mindset to start earning money. In this episode, Peter shares the many business lessons he's learned from growing his own companies. Here's some of what you'll learn in this episode:How Peter learned to think long term. The tech company he founded while he was a university student. How Peter recovered from a dark time in his career. How he created one of the best-selling games of 2016.What The Strategic Coach® Program has given him.Show Notes: The Strategic Coach Program was designed for entrepreneurs who are active and “all over the place.” It's a tremendous strength to realize that being an entrepreneur is a life sentence. Luck is involved in entrepreneurial success, but the entrepreneur needs the capability of taking advantage of luck. The more value they provide, and the faster they can provide it, the more an entrepreneur gets paid for their time. When you're a little bored and you have your eyes open, interesting opportunities come your way. Kickstarter lets you test a product and validate it, and if it works, you get money. An idea is worthless without persistent and productive execution. You don't need permission to say, “This is how I'm going to be in the world.” The ride is what teaches you to hang on. Some people are born with the permission to be themselves, but a lot of people aren't. No matter how you describe or define it, I love living a simple life. But for me, a more traditional simple life fits better with who I am. So, what's the difference between the two?To be honest, there is very little difference between a ‘simple life', and a ‘traditional simple life'. A simple life is one where you actively focus on slowing down, choosing your priorities, and following your passions. A Traditional Simple Life takes this lifestyle a bit deeper. It encompasses various aspects of life that are centered around a more intentional approach combined with traditional values and practices. There are elements of living within your means, less dependency on outside sources, and a more hands-on approach, rather than using technology for everything you do. Listen in to find more on living a Traditional Simple Life, including why it may be considered a ‘radical' way of life and what some of the benefits are!You Don't Need Permission to Live a Simple LifeSupport the showThe Farm Wife (website)Let's Visit!
