JUST ANNOUNCED! BOOK EDINBURGH FESTIVAL WORK IN PROGRESS HERE https://www.pleasance.co.uk/event/colin-hoult-work-progressActor and comedian Colin Hoult continues his oddesy into his neurodiverse brain. Each week he looks at a different aspect of neurodiversity, how it can be embraced, explored and understood. This week, instead of an interview because his internet is being a right prick, Colin looks at some of the things that neurotypical people say and do which can feel weird, icky and uncomfortable to the neurodiverse brain. On the way he talks about his unconvincing audition to be a space marine, a little tip from Joe Lycett, his daughter watching the same Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film 11 times in 3 days and recalls his days in the double act Colin and Fergus and how, with hindsight, his undiagnosed neurodiversity probably doomed it from the beginning. Then he offers a way he has of dealing with scary stuff you have to do. It might help! Who knows....SUPPORT THE SHOW patreon.com/colinhoult - at some point I will need money to keep me doing this. Welcome back to the Neuroverse.Actor and comedian, Colin Hoult, leads us into the Mines of Misinformation. For the Neurodiverse it can be very easy to be carried away with the onslaught of misinformation the modern world peddles, yes peddles.Colin here attempts to unpick some of it, explain how all sorts of crazy ideas took over his head from an early age, and offers some advice on how to separate fact from fiction and take a breath thanks to some helpful actors who are also carpenters. It ends with a sweet little tale of how somehow the imaginary can also be rather wonderful. There's at least 8 minutes of waffle here if you can find a way past that its worth it.Topics discussed: Trump Ascending!, flatulence!, 'Mother', gullibility, reincarnation, sports (ugh), SQUAT WIFE (typo), Attwood and whether Harrison Ford uses buses in Nottingham. Colin's sublime creation "Anna Mann" is a faded actress (little ripple of recognition?) on a mission to fight the fascists! But she is only the tip of phenomenally creative and hilarious iceberg of talent. We shine a light on the darkness of his "Carnival of Monsters", and discuss surviving depression, moving on from a double-act, and get some unbelievable detail on how he "invites Anna in"...See Anna on tour at www.colinhoult.net/tourAnd discover Anna's new podcast by following @ColinHoult on Twitter! John Kearns is one of the most exciting, creative and remarkable comedians on the circuit. Sight Gags For Perverts is John Kearns’ debut hour at the Edinburgh Festival and having performed for several years at The Fringe as part of ‘Dinner Party’ with Pat Cahill in 2011,The Lunchtime Club in 2011, The Pleasance Reserve in 2012, Kearns’ first solo show is an experience not to be missed. The show has previewed at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, ARGC, and Machynlleth Comedy Festival, which has already received rave reviews from critics. John Kearns will also be performing in Colin Hoult’s Real Horror Show at Assembly Roxy throughout The Fringe. Kearns has been a staple in Weirdos Comedy, performing the lead role of Peter in the spectacular production of ‘Hook’ in December 2012. Kearns also performs with Dan Cook in the online comedy series ‘Yellow Card’. About The Show "‘Sight Gags for Perverts’, is how one critic described Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove upon its release. Stan cherished this, writing it down on a list headed ‘Titles in Search of a Script’. It was never made, this won't be either. I wear a little wig and some false teeth. It’s a disguise you see. I talk about holidaying on your own, the state of comedy as we know it and how we all just want to bloody feel something for gods sake. There is a sing-a-long at the beginning and support is provided by Yogi Baby. You’ll know when the show has ended, as I’ll be in a dress, sporting heels and singing ‘Wrecking Ball’ by Bruce Springsteen. People have told me to take the wig off, some say I don’t need the teeth, others wonder what the voice is, what they’re laughing at, what’s true and what’s made up. There’s one bit that can go either way depending on the audience. Not me." ‘Weird, room splitting lunacy’ – Chortle ‘A wonderful weirdo… brilliantly bonkers’ - Time Out ‘One of the most bizarre and brilliant hours of comedy I've ever witnessed...there is so much going on in his performance at any one moment, that I'm really finding it quite difficult to sum it up in easily digestible English sentences." - Leicestercomedyscene.co.uk "Tremendous originality... a jumpy and unpredictable raconteur... a shot of nervous energy, an elastic band about to snap... I can't see him waiting in reserve for long." - Broadway Baby ‘Original, dark, bold… won’t be for everyone’- London Is Funny ‘Spectacular Style… keeps the audience riveted and delivers the laughs.’ -British Comedy Guide ‘Highly imaginative… excellent, surrealist ranter.’ – Spoonfed Image credit Darren Russell www.thatjohnkearns.co.uk www.twitter.com/johnsfurcoat - Sara Shulman is the Founder and Editor of Comedy Blogedy, TEDxUCL speaker on 'The Power of Funny', former Head of Comedy at UCLU Rare FM and produces the Humour Me Comedy Podcast.
