In this week's podcast I speak with Bodywork Project student Lisa Fahay, a brand new bodyworker who tells us about her challenges and success stories. Learn how a skiing accident 30 years ago introduced Lisa to CranioSacral Therapy and how The Bodywork Project gave her the confidence to create a vision for her own practice for kids and teens. “I am speaking as Miss Independent. I can do all myself. There's just not a reason to. The Bodywork Project is such a great road map and one thing I realized when I first looked at the syllabus — you don't know what you don't know. In that kind of a situation I think it would be really easy to make mistakes that might be hard to recover from.” —Lisa Fahay This week on the Do It With Intention Podcast: Find out how, as massage or bodywork practitioners, we must give ourselves the same space and grace that we offer our clients. Learn how creative, big hearted people — even those just starting out — can also build successful businesses with the proper guidance. And how The Bodywork Project specializes in breaking down giant tasks into smaller, digestible morsels to help you move forward instead of experiencing analysis paralysis.   Resources from this episode: Lisa Fahay has long been drawn to Craniosacral Therapy (CST). After a life-changing experience, she enrolled in Massage Therapy school in order to pursue training in the CST modality. Rigorous learning at this stage of life has been humbling and gratifying and her Craniosacral Therapy practice will combine her vast history and love of working with children in many disciplines — from art therapy, children's yoga, and beyond. She discovered a particular love of working with tweens and teens, offering an experience of safe touch and access to a calm nervous system. A perennial creator, Lisa's mindfulness props and toys reduce stress and enhance a sense of peace. In this insightful Spotlight episode, we explore the gentle yet profound world of Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) techniques. Discover how these hands-on, non-invasive approaches tap into the body's natural rhythms of self-healing in different ways. We discuss the subtle power of craniosacral rhythms, the role of the "breath of life", and how practitioners facilitate deep, holistic healing with a practice that has evolved from the groundbreaking work of osteopath William Sutherland. Keith shares his personal exploration of craniosacral therapy, tracing its roots in cranial osteopathy and discussing how pioneers such as John Upledger and Franklyn Sills have shaped this hands-on somatic therapy. From the surface rhythms to the deeper layers of the body's innate breathing mechanism, you'll learn how practitioners can attune to these movements. We contrast the methodologies of Upledger's CST with Sills' BCST approach, each offering their own resolution strategies. Discover how the biodynamic model's metaphor of ocean tides reveals the deeper energetic layers of the breath of life. Keith shares his perception of these tidal layers in his own practice and how craniosacral work led him to study energy healing. He discusses his love of energy work for self-practice, personal growth and how it lends itself to profound philosophical inquiry. Whether you're curious about CST's benefits or the more energetic BCST approach, this episode offers a deep dive into these transformative practices, and creates a comprehensive map for understanding the potential of craniosacral therapy in fostering better health and holistic wellness.Liked what you heard? Kimberly Painter introduces us to how CranioSacral Therapy can positively impact every part of your body and every part of your child.  What is CranioSacral Therapy (CST) and why haven't you heard of it?  Is it a “real science” or “quackery?”  How does all this anatomy talk actually relate to real people?  And what did you say about an orange, snags in your sweater, belief patterns, pregnancy and babies?Kim covers how CST helps to release strain patterns which frees up tissues in a child and thus allows him or her to reach their growth potential and possibly be less prone to injury in the future.  She says CST can have a positive impact structurally, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.  How could falling out a tree when you're 7, give you an earache when you're 8? And can CST really help your child POOP?  Yeap, she'll get into this too.  What is “Inner Wisdom?”  How can you teach your child to connect with their “Inner Wisdom” to better understand their bodies, emotions, and environment? While CST is not going to provide a cure, this therapy is another tool and another possibility for you and your family.   We discuss how this gentle touch can enhance and support the quality of life for your child and your family.“We help our kids, we help the world.” – Kimberly Painter Resources:For a directory of CST practitioners in your area, visit www.iahp.com. Connect with Kim at kim@healtheself.net. If you have a baby, are expecting a baby, or just want to understand what bodywork and craniosacral therapy is—is episode is for you! Austin Rees is back on the show to share her wisdom with us. She was here for Episode 026 talking from the mom perspective about education reform and self-directed education…and now she is here to share all of the info from a professional standpoint as someone who specializes in craniosacral therapy, lactation, babywearing, tummy time, and reiki. I’ll link to all her wondering offerings available through her website www.nourishandalign.com You know how it goes…we set out to talk about infant craniosacral therapy (what it is, how it helps, who it is appropriate for) and went on to talk about other types of infant bodywork, tummy time, tongue tie, fussiness while riding in the car (information I wish I would have known years ago!), finding the right practitioner, trust, community, all the things. Austin’s Bio: Austin Rees (she/her) has been engaged in the health field for over 20 years. She began researching pregnancy, childbirth, and lactation through independent studies when she was completing her degree in biology at Hollins University. Following graduation, she enrolled in the Lotus School of Integrated Professions’ Massage Therapy Program from which she became a Licensed Massage Therapist. Austin began assisting parents with breast/chestfeeding support in 2005 as an accredited La Leche League Leader. Eventually she became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2011 and a Certified Babywearing Consultant through the Center for Babywearing Studies in 2013. Since 2015, she has trained and become a Certified TummyTime! Method Professional, a Reiki Master Practitioner, and a Tethered Oral Tissue (TOT) Trained Professional. As an IBCLC, Austin often saw families struggling with the symptoms caused by tethered oral tissue (TOT): A restriction in the mouth caused by a tongue, lip, or buccal ties. Such restrictions have been responsible for many latching difficulties including pain and low supply. When paired with a frenotomy: tongue tie release, Austin saw firsthand how Craniosacral Therapy (CST) contributed to improvements in latch, comfort at the breast, and changes in the infant’s tongue and jaw movement. Through continuing education in tongue tie release habilitation, it became evidently clear and a natural next step for her to combine her massage therapy and lactation backgrounds and become a Craniosacral Therapy Practitioner. She specializes in pre and post frenotomy (tongue/lip tie release) bodywork for infants using an individualized approach for each client and family. Austin is a mother to four children and is married to an army veteran. The Rees family chose to move to Baltimore, Maryland in 2015 when her husband retired from the military. Immediately, they felt at home and are dedicated to volunteer in local organizations that strengthen the Baltimore community. In today’s episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Mighty Pete invites Sharon Bannister, a Registered Craniosacral Practitioner, so we can get an expert’s view on Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and a glimpse on her journey. CST can be an effective way for people to heal from trauma or any undesirable conditions in the body. Sharon herself has had her fair share of traumatic experiences and stress-filled phases too. So, she wants to help and share her treatment approach with everyone. You can regain your health and live your life with no holds barred again. Listen in to know more. Other topics discussed were how your ancestry can tell more about who you are, talking to people who are still dealing with their past traumas, Sharon’s interest for other cultures, and many more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Sharon is currently tracing her ancestry. So far, she has found out that she has an interesting ethnic background. She now knows where she got those distinctive physical features and her natural talent for music. Being acquainted with her roots helps her know herself more. When someone’s sharing their traumatic experiences, you must observe, allow them to talk about what happened, and not pass judgment quickly. Be compassionate; listen carefully. Sharon also shared her travels. She’s quite adventurous and very curious about other cultures. She has even lived in other countries and admits that she had an affluent lifestyle doing so. But during one of her trips, she got into an accident which caused her a back injury. This made her go back to London and start a new life again. If it wasn’t for that unfortunate event, she wouldn’t have discovered about mentoring, personal development, and other things that helped her shape who she is now. She wouldn’t have met and helped other people too, she adds. BEST MOMENTS “When I’m traumatised, what happens is I lose my voice.” “I love live and I respect life. I like learning about other cultures.” “I will find out more (about myself) when I learn more about my family.” “When you don’t have good mentoring, then you don’t know what you are creating.” “I want to be the best human being I can be in this planet.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Visit the Connect to Health Official Website: https://www.connectohealth.net/ Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061)! Hmm… babies aren't supposed to stand up at two weeks or arch their head back." —Annette Leary About Annette Leary:Annette has been working with families for over 30 years as a pediatric/postpartum nurse, childbirth educator, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Tami Goldstein is a CranioSacral Therapist in Wisconsin, who is also a speaker, and author of the book, "Coming Through the Fog," a healing journey bringing her daughter back from the fog of autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. Her passion is teaching classes to parents about understanding autism based on her own life knowledge.  Tami shares how CranioSacral Therapy (CST) allows the body to heal itself from soft tissue injuries to the brain and nervous system, including neurodevelopmental disorders, stroke, autoimmune disease, inflammation (encelphalopahty), and the condition known as autism. These soft tissue injuries are often ignored by the medical establishment because they are not obvious on X-ray, CAT scan, or MRI. Tami A. Goldstein is Diplomate-certified in Upledger CranioSacral Therapy (U-CST), Board Certified and an approved continuing education provider through the NCBTMB. She has been a Wisconsin licensed massage therapist since 2004. She owns and runs “A Therapeutic Touch by Tami, LLC.” She has fourteen years’ experience as a therapist, advocate, international speaker and educator of bodywork specializing in individuals on the autism spectrum, and neuro-developmental disorders. And she’s an international award-winning author of her book “Coming Through the Fog.” Find Tami's book at her website, Coming Through the Fog.  Check out Rosanne books on self-healing based on her own expereince:  Free Your Voice Heal Your Thyroid: Reverse Thyroid Disease Naturally and The Nature of Healing: Heal the Body, Heal the Planet
