“My daughter was required to be vaccinated at the end of her fifth grade school year at the age of 11 before she could move on to middle school. For the following couple of years, she deteriorated medically, physically, and emotionally at a very frightening level. And in the end, the diagnosis included autism, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, and obsessive compulsive disorder. She had systemic rashes, and severe environmental and food allergies. The sensory processing disorder would make her shut down for up to five days, unable to walk or talk. The list could go on and on, but in the journey to get her to recovery I learned through an occupational therapist about craniosacral therapy and I had never heard of it before. It's a light touch therapy that improves brain and nervous system functioning. And through that therapy and sensory integration therapy and biomedical supports, my daughter–against all odds–got to a degree of functioning recovery that was literally unheard of.” Tami Goldstein is Diplomate certified in Upledger Craniosacral Therapy (U-CST), Board Certified and an approved continuing education provider through The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. She is a Wisconsin licensed massage therapist. In 2004 she opened A Therapeutic Touch by Tami, LLC. She offers services as a therapist, advocate, international speaker and educator of bodywork specializing in individuals on the autism spectrum and other neurodevelopment disorders. She's the international award-winning author of “Coming Through the Fog,” an autism recovery journey, a contributing author in a Cutting-Edge Therapies for Autism, and other books & publications. Ms. Goldstein is a 2018 World Massage Festival Hall of Fame inductee, 2019 Teacher of the Year recipient at World Massage Festival, the founder of Wisconsin for Vaccine Choice and the parent of an individual with functioning recovery from autism.
We can have confidence that our prayers aren't falling flat or fading away into nothingness. Like Revelation 5:8 reveals, our prayers are preserved and still at work long after they are spoken. “And when He had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people.” SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: How to Push Through the Weariness of Prayer By Lynette Kittle “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”--Galatians 6:9 Each morning, my husband and I pray together for each other, family members, neighbors, friends, acquaintances, leaders, world issues, and more, depending on how God is leading us. While praying for some individuals and situations for years, at times, it can seem like we are just going through a list, day-after-day, year-after-year. Yet we keep at it, knowing God hears, listens, and answers prayer. As Psalm 66:19 assures us, “But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.” Pushing Through the Hard Times in Prayer When prayers for someone or a situation seem to go on endlessly, the enemy often tries to discourage us from praying, urging us to give up and causing us to believe God isn't going to answer or doesn't want to answer our pleas. As well, it seems like the more we pray for an individual or situation, the worse it gets, like it's headed in a completely different direction than we're praying for. During this time, it can seem like our efforts are in vain, yet we know that 1 Thessalonians 5:17 urges us to “Pray continually.” When praying seems hard at times, we can look to Daniel in the Bible, who knew how to keep pushing through difficult times of prayer. As Daniel 9:3 describes, “So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.” What's Happening When Answers Aren't Coming Through? Often, we don't understand what's holding up answers to our prayers or why we aren't seeing God fulfill our requests. The book of Daniel offers insight into what may be keeping our answers at bay. Daniel had a troubling vision that led him to some serious praying, yet it seemed that with all his efforts, he wasn't receiving an answer. Not understanding why he wasn't receiving answers, God sent Gabriel to give Daniel insight and understanding (Daniel 9:22), saying, “As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision” (Daniel 9:23). Then, later on, seeking answers again after three weeks of mourning (Daniel 10:2-3), Daniel experienced another divine encounter. “I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like topaz, His face like lightning, His eyes like flaming torches, His arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and His voice like the sound of a multitude” (Daniel 10:5-6). “He said, ‘Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.' And when He said this to me, I stood up trembling. Then he continued, ‘Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.'” (Daniel 10:12-14). Believing God Is At Work Through Our Prayers James 5:16, emphasizes the power of prayer, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” During times of pushing through prayer, Psalm 126:5 reminds us, “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.” In Luke 18:1, Jesus encouraged His disciples to always pray and not give up. Like Winston Churchill urged people on October 29, 1941, his words ring true, too, when it comes to feeling discouraged and doubtful in prayer: “This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.” The devil wants us to give up and stop believing that God hears and answers our prayers. But 1 John 5:15 urges us to hold on: “And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.” We can have confidence that our prayers aren't falling flat or fading away into nothingness. Like Revelation 5:8 reveals, our prayers are preserved and still at work long after they are spoken. “And when He had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people.” Intersecting Faith & Life: Are you feeling worn down and weary praying? If so, ask God to strengthen you to keep praying and to never give up. Today we're looking at a topic I think all of us can relate to: how to have faith in the midst of trials. All throughout Scripture we see examples of God's people struggling with faith in the midst of challenges. Doubt is something so natural, so human. And the world teaches us that when things get tough, we need to take this life into our own hands and sort it out. But God has a better way for us – the way of faith. May God empower us with revelation today that would bear the fruit of steadfast faith, even in the midst of trials. Our Scripture for today comes from James 1:2-4, and today's worship is Coming Through by First15 Worship (feat. Jeremiah Brinkley). -- This month kicks off an extremely important season at First15 — a time when your partnership and prayers are deeply needed. First15 has just launched a $216,584 Summer Initiative with the goal of connecting thousands more people to God and igniting their hearts for him. And today we're asking for your support to make that possible. Support the Summer Initiative You know the power of daily time connecting with God — the hope, clarity, and peace we find in his presence. And we're so grateful for the opportunity to encourage you in your faith with First15's free devotional resources. But to keep these resources freely available and take them to more people than ever before requires a fresh outpouring of support from friends like you. That's why we're really excited to share that some amazing friends who know the power of a deepening relationship with God have offered to match your gift today, up to a total of $20,000. This means your gift will now DOUBLE to have an even greater impact! And the impact you can have in people's lives is what excites us the most, because we're sure you agree that changed lives can change our culture. So please give generously to help meet the $216,584 Summer Initiative need — and lead more people into God's presence each day. Because when he gets a hold of our hearts, God always changes lives!
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Faith is the undercurrent of everything we do as followers of Jesus. Without faith we lose all that Christ died to give us while here on earth. It is by faith we access the peace, joy, guidance, love, and purpose that comes from restored relationship with our heavenly Father. In this week of devotionals, we're going to seek an increase in faith in response to God's faithfulness. May you experience a greater depth of intimacy with your living, Almighty, and loving heavenly Father. Our Scripture for today comes from 1 Corinthians 2:5, and today's worship is Coming Through by First15 Worship (feat. Jeremiah Brinkley). -- Thank you for listening to today's podcast on the heart of faith. I pray that this week your faith would be lifted and established as we focus on the incredible, unwavering faithfulness of our good and loving Father. If you haven't had a chance to rate and review this podcast, please take a moment to do that today! A few minutes of your time could make the difference in someone else finding us, and establishing the rhythm of experiencing God in a fresh way every day. I'm so grateful for you, and grateful that you're choosing to create space to experience the loving presence of God. May God bless you as you seek him today.

Vì sao gọi là The Crossing ?
Today we're wrapping up our week-long series of stirring up our affections for God by looking at what it means to have friendship with the Holy Spirit. The nearness of God's Spirit, the reality of his voice and leadership, is our deepest connection to God on this earth. And like any other relationship, any other connection, it takes time to develop a true friendship with the Spirit. So today we're embarking on a journey with one simple goal in mind: growing a little bit closer to the Spirit in friendship. May God guide us and empower us today, and reveal himself in a fresh way. Our Scripture for today comes from Romans 8:26-27, and today's worship is Champion by Brian and Jenn Johnson. -- We are so excited to share our latest worship song, Coming Through, featuring Jeremiah Brinkley! As we near the end of our week, creating space every day to simply have our affections stirred up for God, we're going to take time today to look at God's heart to forgive us. God's forgiveness is as constant as our need for his forgiveness. And today, I hope and pray that he reveals his heart to forgive us completely and immediately when we confess our sin to him, and his heart to constantly restore us to intimacy with him. In today's devotional, we're going to look at the value of solitude in making space to hear from God. In all the noise of our world, solitude is more important now than ever. We need quiet to tune our ears to the still, small voice of God. We need the type of peace that only comes from quieting our hearts and minds. We need the type of relationship with God that can only be formed in solitude. May God empower us to quiet ourselves today in his presence. In today's devotional, we're going to look at the role of meditation in hearing from God. Meditation for many reasons, seems to have found its way out of our Christian context. But the reality is that meditation has been central to our faith throughout its history. And the Bible is chocked full of encouragement to meditate on who God is, on his word, allowing space for God to fill in our daily lives. May God reveal his heart for us to meditate as a central discipline of our faith. And may he empower us to make room for his presence in a meaningful way today. As we arrive in the middle of this week-long focus on hearing from God, today we're going to look at the role of Creation in God speaking to us as his children. Throughout human history mankind has gone to nature to get a deeper sense of the divine. And I believe that when we open our ears to hear what God is declaring to us through that which he's made, we'll find a wonderful avenue to stay in communication with our heavenly Father. May God reveal his heart today to speak through his Creation. And may our hearts be stirred to listen. As we continue this series looking at different ways God speaks to us as his children, today we're going to look at what it means to hear God's voice. The idea of hearing the voice of God is something I get asked about all the time. And I think it's because, honestly, it sounds kind of crazy! But Scripture and Christian History tell us clearly that God loves to communicate with his people. So may he guide each of us into a fuller understanding of what it means to hear his voice, and may we grow in grace and confidence today to make space to simply listen to whatever it is God wants to say. As we continue our series looking at different ways God speaks to us as his children, today we're going to look at the role of Scripture in hearing God. The pages of Scripture contain so many amazing stories of how God spoke to his people. In today's devotional, we're going to explore the concept of sanctification in the Holy Spirit. Every day, every moment, God is working to mold us into his likeness. We were made in his image. And the Holy Spirit is so insightful, so good at molding us and correcting us. There is so much peace in store for us if we'll allow God to take away anything in our life that is holding us back from what we were originally created for: to live free from sin, free from shame, free from the weight of the world, and holy and righteous in him. May you be encouraged as we open our hearts and seek sanctification in the Holy Spirit today. Our Scripture for today comes from 1 Peter 1:2, and today's worship is New Wine (feat. Our human perspective is so utterly limited this side of heaven. We see ourselves, God, and others incorrectly on a regular basis. As we dive deeper into the fullness of life available to us this week, looking at the concept of acknowledging our need for God is essential. We will never taste the fullness of God's sufficient grace until we learn to live low, acknowledging our need and weakness before the Lord. God's goodness over our lives far exceeds anything we've experienced. We've only yet splashed around in the shallows of God's deep love and mercy. September 9, 2021: Our news-cycle has been dominated for years by the concept that systems can be overtaken in minutes. We are experiencing a frenetic pace within the industry to protect against malicious attacks - including destruction-ware, phishing, ransomware, and virus-based activities. We must have a vision, not only from the vulnerable sets of systems, but from looking through the lens of an attacker. Using the defensive-stance will improve the present-state posture and allow for the evolution of consistent and distributed awareness and control-models. Why is healthcare being targeted in these vicious attacks, and how is this going to be resolved? Is there a clear-path forward?Join our webinar “Coming Through a Ransomware Event - Best Practices and Lessons Learned” on Thursday, October 7th at 11:00 AM eastern time. September 8, 2021: We all log in to our machines to get started with our day. While this used to be just a terminal at your desk or workstation, the devices are with us all the time. Admission criteria for backup, compute, network, and storage relies on a consistent authentication model. Role-based access criteria is even more important as directory authentication is scaled and shared. Development of a consistent approach towards the development of controls will provide for an authoritative source of resources to access and control systems. As the access model for healthcare evolves, are we seeing steps taken that are going to change how we interact with technology? There have been a lot of breaches reported in the media - not just healthcare, but surrounding every organization in the world - is this the starting-point for our global remediation?Join our webinar “Coming Through a Ransomware Event - Best Practices and Lessons Learned” on Thursday, October 7th at 11:00 AM eastern time. September 2, 2021: Establishing routine protections for information security are paramount to establishing an effective set of security controls. While the technology is specific, the pedagogy of these actions may leave gaps for some of the new-mode approaches. Inspection of how we can define consistent control-planes are essential to the resiliency and scalability of the current- and future-state elements in all aspects of the protection model. Cloud has a known good baseline of security when it starts - how is this changing and adding risk? August 31, 2021: While moving to an agile-based methodology for core development processes, we must provide a consistent and effective model to protect not only the production of application development, but the process. Development of large healthcare systems places an undue burden on ensuring no additional threats are being added. As we evolve into the rapid digital-approach for ensuring patient experience satisfaction, how can the desire of being innovative be balanced with a secure approach? August 26, 2021: Technology enablement for healthcare providers has not changed overnight. We continue to innovate and enable in a positive manner however as systems are maintained, there is always a potential for risk. Managing risk is a crucial element of the information security lifecycle management. Through the routine use of existing control-planes for security technology, areas of improvement should be desired to promote an “always-on” threat detection and remediation model. Is there ever going to be a ‘Fort Knox' of healthcare information? What is the next disruption that will change the perspective of patient care and protection?Join our webinar “Coming Through a Ransomware Event - Best Practices and Lessons Learned” on Thursday, October 7th at 11:00 AM eastern time. Aug 24, 2021: Data is the problem. We seem to have created this problem through efficiency - processing, transmitting, and storing data. Using the continuity of knowing the absolute of what data is processed, transmitted, or stored within any environment - specifically the highly-regulated healthcare industry - is the highest priority of any critical clinical environment. This discussion explores the approaches that have yielded a highly protected calculus for the critical safety of patient information. Are we using the lessons-learned to date effectively? Will this transform technology fast enough to protect our overall responsibility to the care of the patient?Join our webinar “Coming Through a Ransomware Event - Best Practices and Lessons Learned” on Thursday, October 7th at 11:00 AM eastern time. This week on Episode 516 of Priority One: that's a wrap on filming for season one of Strange New Worlds, details on Trek panels for Comic-Con@Home, and Lower Decks beams back onto screens next month! In gaming news, Harcourt Fenton Mudd is at it again, scouring the galaxy to bring you deals and gear from across time itself, and the newest patch to Star Trek Fleet Command brings a commanding presence to the game. This week's Community Question is: What is the next Star Trek Online event reward you would like to be made available for purchase? Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! TREK IT OUT Edited by Thomas Reynolds Strange New Worlds Goes To Wrap 1 By Cat Hough Last week, Anson Mount tweeted that filming for the last episode of Season 1 for Strange New Worlds has started. He also hinted at some surprises in store, saying, “old school fans are going to [be] VERY excited to see what we're trying to pull off with this one. Getting to do many things I've never attempted as an actor. So much fun!" https://twitter.com/ansonmount/status/1412781659376787459?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1412781659376787459%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffilmdaily.co%2Fobsessions%2Fstar-trek%2Fstrange-new-worlds%2F No release date has been announced for Strange New Worlds, but to recap what we do know about it: first, it is more episodic than Discovery or Picard. Second, it will likely have a more classic Original Series theme and look. Showrunner Akiva Goldsman said it's important to keep continuity with The Original Series, while also distinguishing Strange New Worlds as its own show. Can't even tell the difference. Image: ViacomCBS. Goldsman described it to The Hollywood Reporter saying, “Remember the Enterprise existed as a little piece of [the show Discovery] but now is its own object. When you close your eyes and think of the key sets and situations that you think of in The Original Series, that's what we're looking to do." We may possibly get more information during Comic-Con@Home since a Star Trek Universe panel has been announced–though my best guess will be sometime in early 2022. Star Trek@Comic-Con@Home By Cat Hough Speaking of the San Diego Comic-Con–or the virtual version, Comic-Con@Home–Paramount+ announced back-to-back Star Trek panels starting Friday, July 23 at 10 a.m. PT. Paramount+'s Comic-Con panels will feature sessions with the cast and producers from Star Trek: Prodigy and Star Trek: Lower Decks. Images: ViacomCBS/Comic-Con International, via Deadline. Prodigy, the first Star Trek animated kids series [TAS doesn't count, we've been over this already–Ed.], will kick off the presentation with Lower Decks set to follow. The Prodigy presentation will be the inaugural panel for the upcoming kids series, following a crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together, while navigating a greater galaxy in search of a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered, but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents. Lower Decks voice cast members Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid and Eugene Cordero will then appear with creator Mike McMahan for an exclusive conversation and an extended look at Season 2 with Lower Decks' own Jerry O'Connell moderating the conversations. And speaking of Lower Decks… Lower Decks Season 2, Coming Through! By Rosco McQueen It's officially one month until Lower Decks returns to the screen for season two, with a very short teaser released this week. While the teaser was short, in Lower Decks fashion it was brimming with details. In the opening shot alone we saw the Cerritos alongside some Parliament-class starships, Andorian cruisers, a Maquis Raider and a couple of Daedalus-class ships, all docked at a starbase that seems inspired by the Watchtower-class from Trek-lit novels. In the teaser Mariner and Boimler crash through a space mall in a space dune buggy, and narrowly avoid some space fish people [they're not people!–Ed.] originally seen in The Next Generation. The lower deckers sport some flashy new dress uniforms, and just to add to the mix, some Commander Data collectable figurines fly out the back of the buggy. https://twitter.com/StarTrek/status/1414630633448480776?s=20 Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comment section at priorityonepodcast.com. Quick News Roundup Here are a few headlines that we didn't discuss but might interest you. The first four Star Trek films are being re-released...this time in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision and HDR10. What does that mean? You'll be able to make out every follicle of Ricardo Montalban's chest hair [what are you on about, dude was smoother than Michael Phelps on a Slip'n'Slide–Ed.]! Packed with extra features (much like Khan's chest) this 4-disc set doesn't have a release date yet but, we'll be sure to keep you updated! While we're talking about merch, Playmates just announced a new line of Star Trek toys coming in 2022. According to StarTrek.com, there will be a lineup of action figures and accessories from all era's of the franchise–new and old. Star Trek also gets to celebrate some recognition with five Emmy nominations this year. Discovery is up for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup, Outstanding Period And/Or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series, and Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Single Episode. Lower Decks has been nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series. You may find free codes for other Cryptic MMO bundles, including a STO Federation Elite Starter Pack and a Fleet Admiral Bundle–a combined US$70 value–as a thank-you for participating. Commanding Time In Star Trek Fleet Command By Rosco McQueen It's the best of both worlds, only this time it's part three! The third section of Star Trek Fleet Command's Next Generation arc has just landed, with Commander William T. Riker in the spotlight. Patch 32 brings with it a new officer, a new ship and, for Star Trek Online players, some familiar gameplay elements to the Kelvin Universe. “With the Enterprise-D mysteriously returned to its former glory, the time has come to find and rescue the rest of the crew and get them home to their own universe. You manage to track down Commander William Riker, who finds himself at the forefront of the Bajoran resistance against the rampant Cardassian Empire. And with the Cardassians holding many Enterprise-D crew members captive, the conflict is personal for Riker.” Amazing, The Beard actually overpowers the lens flare. Image: Scopely. Also there are some changes to the Away Team assignments. Introduced in Patch 30, this feature gives you the possibility to send officers on Assignments and receive rewards. Now the assignments are part of your daily goals, giving players the ability to gain more daily goal points and more speed ups. So in STO terms, duty officer assignments have been added to the endeavor system. Available to players in this patch is a new officer: Epic William Riker, a new ship: the Meridian, an isogen mining vessel, fifteen new missions and more.

To say that Erica Arvold is passionate about what she does is an understatement. Most actors know her as a casting director but, as she likes to point out, she is so much more than that. She is a producer, a director, and a committed educator. But one of the things that I most appreciate about Erica is how she loves learning about other people. If you’ve auditioned for Erica you know that during Covid she started the 30 second stories where actors got to share 30 seconds about themselves that was not related to acting. And at the end of our conversation, she asked me a question. That has never happened. Now you won’t hear that part as I edited it out because the podcast is not about me. What it did show is that, for Erica, it is as much about the other person as it is about herself. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Erica Arvold as much as I did. Erica Arvold, owner and CEO of Arvold, has spent 30 years as a casting director, educator, speaker, producer, writer, director and an advocate for screen artists. Erica has contributed to, participated in, or helmed the making of over 140 films, 85 television shows, and countless multimedia & commercial projects. Casting credits include The Black Phone, Red Notice, Dopesick, Swagger, The Good Lord Bird, House of Cards, Charm City Kings, Harriet, and Lincoln. Erica directed the short films Thursday and Here Today, for which she won ‘Best First Time Director’ at Indie Short Fest Los Angeles. She has served as a producer on projects including Coming Through the Rye, Elemental, House Hunting, Josephine, Texas Rein, Time Machine Guitar, and Wish You Well. She has been nominated for CSA’s Artios Award five times, inducted into First Lady of Virginia’s Opportunity Hall of Fame for contributing to the economic growth in the state. In 2010, Erica founded Arvold.Education to cultivate artistic growth in actors and filmmakers, which quickly expanded into offering classes for all humans. Her collaboration with master teacher/actor/director Richard Warner is now Arvold Warner Studio, and focuses on actor & multi-hyphenate screen artist training. EPISODE 155: BACK FROM THE DEAD Authors T. Fox Dunham and Phil Thomas have risen from the dead—well not really. The show’s just been on pause for a few months. But as we approach Spring 2021, they return with new ghost stories, horror fiction and witty banter. After chatting, they play a ghost story sent in by UK crime author Fraser Massey. Fraser is one of the authors included in Coming Through in Waves, a charity crime anthology based on the music of Pink Floyd. With his effective gritty style, Fraser tells the story of his visit to the grave of British music producer, Joe the Meek. Then, Fox shares some ghost stories from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Guess which president’s spirit has been encountered the most. And finally, English folksinger David Walton closes the show by narrating Nancy Kilpatrick’s Necromimicos—an eerie fiction set in a Parisian cemetery. Trust is something we are not created to give away lightly. We value trust like we value our own lives, constantly scrutinizing others to see if they’re worthy of our trust. But still we are made to do life with help. We are made to place our trust in that which will provide us with more life, joy, and peace. I pray that this week you and I will discover how trustworthy our heavenly Father is. I pray that we will willingly hand over control of our lives to a capable, loving, and near God. And I pray we will experience the abundant life that can only come through placing our trust in a God who gives up everything for relationship with us. Our Scripture for today comes from Psalm 22:4-5, and today's worship is Keep on Coming Through by Jonathan Traylor. First15 is a daily devotional written and recorded by Craig Denison. If you would like to learn more about the First15 app, books, blogs, videos and our other resources, please visit first15.org. You can always reach out to us on our contact page on the website. Click here to help even more people encounter God through the ministry of First15. _____ We just launched Vol. 7 of our First15 Devotional Series, Trust. And I couldn’t be more excited! Trust is one of the devotional books I’ve been most anticipating, because of how critical trust is to our ability to thrive in and out of life’s difficult seasons. This year has been arguably the hardest year we’ve faced globally in a generation. The pandemic has quickly taken its toll in every corner of our society, and every corner of the human heart. And the effects of systematic racism, and our lack of true racial reconciliation across the U.S. and beyond has brought us face to face with the mountain of division we’ve yet to overcome. Personally, when life is good I find it easy to trust God, to be grateful for the ways he’s providing for me. But when my circumstances get hard, I find myself taking my life back in my control, and suffering as a result. In Scripture, so many of God’s promises of peace, of provision, of safety are linked to our trust. Trust is like the “yes” that empowers God to move in deeper and more profound ways in and through us. So I want to sincerely encourage you to get Trust today, to immerse yourself in this 5-week guide that will help you genuinely and wholeheartedly trust God. Because when you give God your trust, you’ll find an abundant peace and life that can carry you with unshakable joy through even life’s hardest challenges. Click here to get your copy of Trust today.

Identity and Action: We continue exploring how the written word shapes our sense of self and how we put that into work in the world around us with a conversation with City of Roanoke Vice Mayor Joe Cobb. In this episode Joe discusses three books that weave through his way of being in the world. We touch on hospitality and fear, on seeing ourselves and on the power of claiming our bodies. "Living this life...," Joe says "is not about what or who we ought to be according to someone else, but who we come to know ourselves to be. And for me, love is the guiding force in shaping that." Joe Cobb is the co-author with Leigh Anne Taylor of Our Family Outing: A Memoir of Coming Out and Coming Through (self-published in 2011). This summer he marked one year of service on Roanoke's City Council. He has served in the past as pastor of Metropolitan Community Church of the Blue Ridge, and currently he’s a chaplain for hermitage Roanoke and Outreach Coordinator for Highland Park Elementary School. The three titles discussed in this episode: Reaching Out: The Three Movements of the Spiritual Life (Doubleday, 1975) by Henri Nouwen Beloved (Knopf, 1987) by Toni Morrison Let Your Life Speak:Listening for the Voice of Vocation (Jossey Bass, 2000) by Parker J. These soft tissue injuries are often ignored by the medical establishment because they are not obvious on X-ray, CAT scan, or MRI. Tami A. Goldstein is Diplomate-certified in Upledger CranioSacral Therapy (U-CST), Board Certified and an approved continuing education provider through the NCBTMB. She has been a Wisconsin licensed massage therapist since 2004. She owns and runs “A Therapeutic Touch by Tami, LLC.” She has fourteen years’ experience as a therapist, advocate, international speaker and educator of bodywork specializing in individuals on the autism spectrum, and neuro-developmental disorders. And she’s an international award-winning author of her book “Coming Through the Fog.” Find Tami's book at her website, Coming Through the Fog.
