When it comes to battery storage deployment in Europe, most of the attention has been focused on familiar markets like the UK, Germany, and southern Europe. But in the background, a quieter shift has been taking place in the Nordics - one that's now starting to accelerate.Long seen as too stable, too hydro-dominated, or simply too slow, the Nordic markets were largely overlooked by early battery investors. Yet growing volatility, falling capex, and the evolving needs of a decarbonising grid have started to change the picture. In this episode of Transmission, we explore what's driving battery investment in Sweden, Finland, and beyond. From market signals and dispatch dynamics to cross-border optimisation and grid readiness, this conversation offers a window into a part of the European market that's now waking up and scaling fast. Quentin speaks with Nicklas Bäcker, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer at Ingrid Capacity. Over the course of the conversation, you'll hear about:Why the Nordics were initially overlooked: How the prevalence of dispatchable hydro capacity led many investors to undervalue the incremental role of batteries in grid flexibility.Shifting storage economics: How declining capex, increased price volatility, and evolving ancillary service markets have improved the commercial viability of BESS in the region.Scaling rapidly in a new market: Insights into how more than €250 million was raised to deliver more than 200 MW of battery capacity within a compressed timeframe.Complementing hydro with fast-response assets: Why batteries offer unique value even in hydro-heavy systems. From frequency control to short-duration balancing and market arbitrage.A cross-border approach to Nordic flexibility: How project developers are expanding into Finland and other markets, and what differentiates the Nordic power system in a European context.About our guest:Nicklas Bäcker is Chief Strategy Officer at Ingrid Capacity, one of the fastest-growing battery storage platforms in Northern Europe. Interview with Jeff Quartermaine, Managing Direcotr & CEO of Perseus Mining Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/perseus-mining-asxpru-gold-operations-deliver-22-profit-growth-6748Recording date: 29th April 2025Perseus Mining Limited (ASX/TSX: PRU) has emerged as one of Africa's most compelling gold investment opportunities, demonstrating exceptional financial strength and a clear growth trajectory. With its March 2025 quarter results revealing cash and bullion reserves of US$801 million, zero debt, and an additional US$300 million in undrawn credit facilities, Perseus stands on remarkably solid financial footing among mid-tier gold producers. The company's operational excellence continues to impress, with quarterly production of 121,605 ounces at a competitive all-in site cost (AISC) of US$1,209 per ounce. This efficiency, combined with strong gold prices averaging US$2,462 per ounce during the quarter, has generated substantial cash margins of US$1,253 per ounce and a notional operating cashflow of US$152 million. Such robust margins highlight Perseus's ability to maximize value from its existing asset base. Most significantly, Perseus has now taken the Final Investment Decision to develop the Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania. This strategic expansion represents a US$523 million investment to develop a large-scale, wholly open-pit operation expected to produce first gold in Q1 2027. Over its initial 11-year mine life, Nyanzaga is projected to produce 2.01 million ounces of gold, with production averaging over 200,000 ounces annually from FY28 to FY35 and peaking at 246,000 ounces. The project's strong economics are reflected in its pre-tax NPV10% of US$404 million and IRR of 26%, figures that improve dramatically at higher gold prices.Complementing the Nyanzaga development is Perseus's commitment to the CMA Underground project at its flagship Yaouré operation in Côte d'Ivoire. This development will make history as Côte d'Ivoire's first mechanized underground mine while extending Yaouré's operational life until at least 2035. With Byrnecut appointed as the specialized underground mining contractor and mobilization already underway, the project is advancing rapidly toward portal development in July 2025.Despite these significant capital commitments, Perseus continues to prioritize shareholder returns through its ongoing A$100 million share buyback program, which was approximately 33% complete at quarter-end. This balanced approach to capital allocation demonstrates management's commitment to creating both immediate and long-term value for investors.Perseus Mining has clearly positioned itself for sustainable growth beyond this decade. CEO Jeff Quartermaine's strategy of building "a sustainable, geopolitically diversified but African-focused gold business involving 3-4 operating mines that produce between 500-600koz of gold per annum" is now coming to fruition. With its exceptional financial position, strong operational performance, and two major growth projects underway, Perseus offers investors exposure to a well-managed gold producer with significant upside potential in a favorable gold price environment.—View Perseus Mining's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/perseus-miningSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
This week we welcome Raghu Ramanathan, President of Legal Professionals at Thomson Reuters, for an insightful discussion on the profound impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the legal industry. Raghu shares why he believes the legal sector, alongside healthcare, stands at the forefront of the AI revolution. His journey into the legal tech world, driven by the transformative potential of AI, sets the stage for a deep dive into current trends, future predictions, and the strategic initiatives shaping the future of law.Central to the conversation is Raghu's updated perspective on the evolution of law firms, revisiting predictions he first made in 2017. He outlines a compelling framework describing "three waves" of AI adoption currently underway. The first wave, "Optimization," which many firms are experiencing now, focuses on using AI to enhance existing workflows, making tasks faster and more efficient. The second wave, "Re-engineering," involves fundamentally rethinking processes, staffing models (including the traditional pyramid structure), pricing strategies, and the very nature of legal work to leverage AI's capabilities more deeply. Looking further ahead, the third wave anticipates the emergence of entirely "New Business Models."Thomson Reuters is actively navigating and shaping this transformation, particularly through its AI platform, CoCounsel. Raghu highlights the rapid evolution of CoCounsel, emphasizing the continuous development of new "skills"—capabilities ranging from summarization and research to drafting and complex analysis like the innovative "Claims Explorer." He explains TR's strategy involves integrating proprietary data (like Westlaw), client-provided documents, and public information, leveraging advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) from various providers to deliver comprehensive and powerful AI assistance. Prioritizing new skill development involves balancing significant client value with technical feasibility, constantly informed by close collaboration with innovation-focused customers.Beyond law firms, the conversation explores the crucial role and adoption of AI within the court system. Raghu notes a surprising enthusiasm among courts, driven by the urgent need to address growing case backlogs and enhance access to justice within tight budgets. He points to Thomson Reuters' significant partnerships, including a major agreement to deploy AI tools across the US federal courts and ongoing collaboration with the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), which is fostering education and policy discussions among judges and court staff nationwide. Complementing product innovation, TR's expanded "Customer Success" initiative underscores the importance of user adoption, providing dedicated resources and best practices to help lawyers and legal professionals effectively integrate AI tools into their daily workflows, ensuring technology translates into tangible value.Raghu anticipates that smaller and mid-sized law firms may initially leverage AI more aggressively as a competitive equalizer, pushing larger firms to make bolder, more strategic moves beyond simple optimization. He stresses that the ultimate differentiator for success in the AI era will likely be less about the technology itself and more about effective change management. The rapid pace of AI adoption already witnessed in the legal sector signals that this transformation is not a distant prospect but a present reality reshaping the industry at an unprecedented speed.Listen on mobile platforms: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube[Special Thanks to Legal Technology Hub for their sponsoring this episode.] Blue Sky: @geeklawblog.com @marlgebEmail: geekinreviewpodcast@gmail.comMusic: Jerry David DeCiccaTranscript

In this episode, Dr. Carol McMakin and Kim Pittis discuss Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) protocols for treating nerve pain, including post-herpetic neuralgia and ataxia. They explain the mechanisms behind nerve inflammation, polarization, and scarring, and shares case studies demonstrating effective FSM treatments. The conversation covers topics such as treating the psoas muscle, addressing ticklishness, and managing complex neurological cases. Dr. McMakin also provides insights on using FSM for patients with cancer and emphasizes the importance of comprehensive assessments in identifying the root causes of pain. 01:13 Understanding Voltage-Gated Ion Channels 02:42 FSM and Nerve Pain Treatment 05:59 Case Study: Cavernous Hemangioma 07:42 Nerve Pain Treatment Insights 12:03 Treating the psoas Muscle 17:04 Scarring and Tissue Treatment 18:14 Case Study: Knee Pain Post-Surgery 23:14 Holistic Approach to Pain Treatment 28:12 Addressing Ticklishness in Treatment 30:23 Nerve Inflammation and Pain Management 34:18 Case Study: Ataxic Gait and Neurological Concerns 42:02 Chronic Conditions and Treatment Approaches 47:08 Treating Cancer Patients: Guidelines and Considerations 50:04 Upcoming Courses and Final Thoughts As medical practitioners, it's crucial to constantly refine our approaches to treating conditions like nerve pain, ataxia, and other related dysfunctions. In a recent episode of the Frequency Specific Microcurrent podcast, various experts, including Dr. Carol and Kim Pittis, shared valuable insights that can benefit practitioners seeking to enhance their understanding of nerve-related treatments. Understanding Nerve Pain and Treatment Modalities Dr. Carol emphasizes the complexities of nerve pain treatment, explaining how conditions like postherpetic neuralgia and traction injuries can influence nerve function. Practitioners are encouraged to consider the underlying causes of nerve numbness or hypersensitivity. Dr. Carol suggests the combination of polarizing frequencies and specific microcurrent protocols to address these issues effectively. One primary focus is on using combinations such as 40 Hz and 396 Hz to alleviate inflammation and enhance nerve conductivity. Complementing this approach, Dr. Carol underscores the importance of addressing the surrounding scar tissue, often by applying frequencies such as 13 Hz to reduce adhesions and further alleviate nerve discomfort. Techniques for Addressing Complex Cases Throughout the podcast, both Dr. Carol and Kim Pittis share personal case studies to illustrate treatment strategies. For instance, Dr. Carol describes a particular case wherein a patient developed knee pain post-tummy tuck procedure. Here, the importance of a holistic approach is evident. Realigning the patella and addressing underlying scar tissues from the surgery was pivotal. Additionally, careful inquiry into the patient's history—identifying past surgical or traumatic events—can help in piecing together effective treatment plans. Addressing Ataxia and the Importance of Neurological Assessments In discussing ataxia—an often misunderstood and misdiagnosed condition—Dr. Carol stresses the potential need for thorough assessments beyond standard examinations. She shares anecdotal experiences highlighting that an ataxic gait may stem from spinal, rather than purely cerebral, origins. This revelation points medical practitioners toward the need for detailed diagnostics, including MRI assessments of both the brain and spinal regions. Promoting Safe and Effective Treatment Environments Kim Pittis touches on the critical aspect of patient safety and comfort. Ensuring the nervous system perceives treatment interventions as safe is paramount for achieving lasting results. Furthermore, practitioners are encouraged to adopt a patient-centered approach, considering the individual experiences of pain and discomfort and adjusting treatment protocols accordingly.

Renowned rapper, Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy, had a remarkably tumultuous year, with his life unraveling in ways he could hardly have imagined. Caught in a whirlpool of legal trouble, financial loss, and a social defamation attack, the seasoned musician found himself on shaky ground.A tirade of lawsuits and a federal indictment quite literally snowballed Diddy's life into a turmoil. Battling extensively on legal fronts, his freedom teetered on edge. Lawsuits seemed to pour in relentlessly, escalating the intensity of his predicament and tugging his survival instincts into overdrive. One of the most prominent legal battles Diddy encountered stems from a federal indictment. This not only threw him into the forefront of public scrutiny but also served as a potential threat to his freedom. Given the seriousness of federal indictments, this introduced an unshakeable uncertainty about his future, hanging over him like a Damocles sword.Complementing the legal issues, Diddy's reputation suffered a serious dent. The exposure of his personal and professional issues in the public domain led to an image crisis that could have far-reaching implications on his career. The reputation he had meticulously built over many years seemed to be crumbling, making it harder for him to navigate his misfortunes. This roller-coaster of a year also took a massive toll on Diddy's finances. Welcome to the 7th of 12 episodes where I unshame the houses of the chart with a different guest astrologer for each episode. My guest is Colin Bedell aka QueerCosmos! I am so honored and excited that Colin said Yes to this because he's my favorite astrologer talking about relationships. To the ancients, the 7th House was called The House of Setting, because it represents the western horizon at the moment of birth. Here we're discussing how shame can show up in the department of life we call the 7th House, which includes: - one-on-one legal contracts like marriage, business partners, therapist-patient - one-on-one energetic contracts (who's agreeing to what in this relationship) - enemies - significant others - psychological projections - buyers in a purchase or the other party in a negotiation - how we understand ourselves in counterpoint to another person's perspective Colin Bedell is a bestselling author, speaker, and media expert on astrology and relationships. As the cofounder of QueerCosmos (a comparative Astrological resource for LGBTQIA+ folks), Colin is committed to updating ideas on identity, relationships, and spirituality that are inclusive to a wider range of racial, sexual, and gender diversity. Which is why Well & Good Magazine listed Colin as one of the most influential people in the wellness industry and as a 2020 Innovator. Complementing his work with QueerCosmos, Colin writes weekly horoscopes for Cosmopolitan.com. Colin's been featured on Good Morning America, New York Magazine, MTV, and TLC's show Stargazing, and Colin is a season regular Astrologer on “Written In The Stars,” which premiered November 2022 on Discovery Plus. Additionally, Colin is working towards certification by The Relational Life Therapy Institute to become a Couple's Coach where he can integrate astrological approaches with leading theories, models, methods, and skills for healthy relationships. Hello there listeners! We have a special issue today ft our good friend Jeremy from The Geekly Grind interviewing the incredibly talented Tom Scioli for his latest book Godzilla's Monsterpiece Theater! Here are Jeremy's words prefacing his interview with Tom: "I'm always stunned by the breadth and depth of talent to be found in the comic industry…as well as the opportunities to pursue visually and thematically interesting stories. So, when I saw a unique issue come into my inbox in the form of Godzilla's Monsterpiece Theater, which pits a handful of classic literary figures like Gatsby, Sherlock Holmes, Jules Verne and others against Godzilla, the Grandfather of all Kaiju, my curiosity was more than piqued. Complementing this unique story was an aesthetic in the vein of comics from the late 1950s to early 1960s, and both the story and art were brought to life by Tom Scioli. I had a chance to chat with Mr. Scioli about this recent work, so take a listen!" Interview with Martin Stein, CFO of Altech Batteries Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/altech-batteries-asxatc-powers-up-to-seize-the-future-of-the-grid-storage-revolution-5430Recording date: 27th August 2024Altech Batteries Limited (ASX:ATC) is positioning itself as a key player in the rapidly evolving battery technology sector, targeting two critical areas of the sustainable energy transition: grid-scale energy storage and enhanced electric vehicle (EV) batteries. With innovative approaches to both segments, Altech presents an intriguing opportunity for investors looking to capitalize on the global shift towards renewable energy and electrification. The company's flagship CERENERGY project focuses on sodium-chloride solid-state batteries for grid energy storage. This technology offers several advantages over traditional lithium-ion batteries, including longer lifespan, lower maintenance requirements, and improved sustainability due to its use of common table salt as a key component. The project's recently completed bankable feasibility study reveals promising economics, with projected annual free cash flow of €48 million and a net present value of €169 million at a 10% discount rate.Altech is actively engaging with German utility providers transitioning to renewable energy sources, positioning CERENERGY batteries as a solution for grid stabilization. The company has appointed KPMG to manage financing for the project and is exploring green bonds and government grants to fund the construction of a 120-megawatt-hour plant in Germany.Complementing its grid storage solution, Altech is also developing the Silumina Anodes project, which aims to enhance EV battery performance. This innovative technology involves coating silicon with high-purity aluminum to create a more efficient anode material for lithium-ion batteries, potentially increasing capacity by 30% compared to graphite-only anodes. A pilot plant in Germany capable of producing 120 kg per day of the Silumina Anodes material is currently being commissioned, with plans to provide commercial samples to major EV manufacturers and battery companies for testing. To fund the development of both projects, Altech is raising up to A$8.5 million through an entitlement offer, with A$5 million underwritten by a board member, demonstrating internal confidence in the company's prospects. While Altech's dual-project approach positions it to capitalize on two significant trends in energy technology, investors should be aware of the challenges and risks involved. These include the need for extensive technological validation, potential competition from established players and other startups, and the capital-intensive nature of battery technology development. The successful commercialization of either project could lead to significant revenue streams and establish Altech as a key contributor to the global sustainable energy ecosystem. The company's engagement with major industry players and its focus on addressing critical pain points in both grid storage and EV applications suggest a well-considered strategy aligned with market needs. For investors considering Altech, key factors to monitor include progress in customer testing and validation, particularly for the Silumina Anodes project, developments in the broader battery technology landscape, and the company's ongoing financing activities. As with any investment in emerging technologies, thorough due diligence and an understanding of the broader energy landscape are essential. As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change and the need for efficient energy storage solutions, Altech Batteries represents an opportunity to participate in potentially transformative developments in the battery sector, catering to both stationary storage and electric mobility markets.View Altech Batteries' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/altech-batteriesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Joyce is the CEO & Founder of Brenny Transportation, a Minnesota based trucking company that specializes in the transportation of large, heavy, and bulky items that necessitate specialized handling, equipment, and permits. Summary: Charity Champions: Specialized Trucking and a Mission In this podcast, we explore the world of specialized trucking with Joyce Brenny, CEO and founder of Brenny Transportation, and discuss her role as president of the St. Christopher's Trucker Relief and Development Fund. Brenny shares insights into her Minnesota-based company, which hauls unique freight like granite for the Smithsonian and steel bases for windmills, and how they support their drivers through transparent lease purchase programs and customized trucks. We also delve into the mission of the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, which provides medical and psychological support to truck drivers in need and promotes initiatives to improve driver health and wellness. Throughout the podcast, Brenny emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and empowering environment for truck drivers and showcases her commitment to improving the trucking industry. #TMSAElevate #BrennyTransportation #StChristopherTruckersFund About Joyce Brenny Joyce Brenny's trucking career began in 1981 behind the wheel of a semi-truck. She later transitioned to customer service, sales, and leadership roles, eventually founding Brenny Transportation, a Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) in her hometown of St. Joseph, MN, in 1996. A tireless advocate for the industry, Joyce has held numerous leadership positions including the Minnesota Trucking Association Board (first woman trucker Chair), the American Trucking Associations' Safety Policy Committee, and the American Transportation Research Advisory Committee. Currently President of The St. Christopher's Trucker Relief & Development Fund, Joyce has also been recognized by Women In Trucking as a Top Place for Women to Work and Most Influential Woman in Trucking. Most recently, she was nominated for positions on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Policy Committee, Women of Trucking Advisory Board, and the American Trucking Association Executive Board of Directors. Complementing her extensive industry experience, Joyce holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Behavior and Behavior Psychology from the College of St. Scholastica. Driven by a personal mission to create a safe and welcoming work environment for women in trucking, Joyce champions the rights and respect for all professional truck drivers, believing her purpose is to improve the industry for those dedicated to this essential service. About Brenny Transporation Brenny Transportation was founded in 1996 because Joyce and Todd Brenny wanted to be part of a company that treated people with respect, a company which honored champion character, with a team driven to serve. Brenny's inception into the trucking world began in a very humble way: in a small rented office in Waite Park, MN with three employees and the power of a big idea. Joyce and Todd wanted to show the trucking world that providing Grand Champion Customer Service in an honest and ethical manner could lead to success, and it has. Brenny's growth has been adaptable to the needs of their customers. Brenny has grown because of their superior respect for their customers' needs, as well as honoring the hard work and dedication of their champion team members. Customers and team members never question if Brenny cares. They know that Brenny cares. There are many years of transportation knowledge and experience leading Brenny; experience you can count on. Joyce's career in transportation began in 1980 and Todd's began in 1988. Brenny's Vice President, Bonnie Supan began her career in transportation in 1994. You could say Joyce, Todd and Bonnie are transportation experts. Todd and Joyce both started their careers in transportation behind the wheel of a truck. Between Joyce, Todd and Bonnie they have performed most duties involved in the transportation industry. This expanded knowledge of transportation has helped Brenny secure a stable place in the trucking industry. It's complicated, as a man, to know how to respond to receiving a nude photo from a female partner. The obvious answer is you should be complementary, and not respond with a dick pic or similar. But then, how strong should the complements be? Is she forcing you to interact with her insecurities? We struggle often to define the term "fingering" as it applies to women. Is it an internal or an external act? And, what could be going on with a woman who needs deep, aggressive fingering to (sometimes) get off? Is it smart for a man to tell his partner that her ass is "too bony" for doggy style sex? And, what does the term "pillow princess" mean? We get a lot of our questions from Reddit, so for our listeners' enjoyment, here are links to some of the questions we discussed this week: https://ymmv.me/167/fingering https://ymmv.me/167/cow https://ymmv.me/167/dirty-photo https://ymmv.me/167/pillow https://ymmv.me/167/bony https://ymmv.me/167/cow Twitter: @ymmvpod Facebook: ymmvpod Email: ymmvpod@gmail.com

Discover the infectious energy and key insights into personal success in this compelling episode of "Shark Theory", featuring the dynamic host, Baylor Barbee. As a speaker and author, Baylor knows a thing or two about making lasting impressions and connecting with an audience. In this discussion, Baylor shares his observations from a recent book signing event, revealing the unspoken traits he believes forecast financial and professional triumph. Baylor explores the phenomenon of infectious energy and how such magnetism can be a powerful tool in creating memorable interactions. He touches on the importance of being genuinely inquisitive and sharing personal stories and experiences as means of building connections. Complementing these interactions, Baylor emphasizes the impact of nurturing relationships and being thoughtful to others' needs in these significant moments. Through real-life examples and engaging storytelling, this episode dissects the intricacies of human connections and their role in forging successful paths. Key Takeaways: Infectious energy is a catalyst for drawing attention and being memorable. It isn't based on skills or talent but rather the presence and aura one brings into a space. Genuine inquisitiveness and a desire to know more about others can leave a lasting impression and facilitate strong connections. Commonality found through conversations can open doors to new opportunities and relationships. Considering others even in personal gains, such as buying books for teammates, is a trait that bodes well for future success. Following up and showing appreciation – even through small gestures – can significantly strengthen newly forged connections. Notable Quotes: "You have the same opportunity to be remembered by just saying, 'hey, I just have to know one thing. What kind of energy do I bring into a room?'" "When you get to the point [where it's] informal, when it's authentic, that's when real conversation happens. That's when real learning happens." "If you want to make a big impact of your life, you wanna make a big future for yourself, do those small things. Show that you care." "Don't be one of those people in life that just shows up, stands in a room, stands in a corner, doesn't say anything to anybody."

Graphic artist, illustrator, painter, and cartoonist Rahel Szalit (1888-1942) was among the best-known Jewish women artists in Weimar Berlin. But after she was arrested by the French police and then murdered by the Nazis at Auschwitz, she was all but lost to history, and most of her paintings have been destroyed or gone missing. Drawing on a range of primary and secondary sources, this biography recovers Szalit's life and presents a stunning collection of her art. Szalit was a sought-after artist. Highly regarded by art historians and critics of her day, she made a name for herself with soulful, sometimes humorous illustrations of Jewish and world literature by Sholem Aleichem, Heinrich Heine, Leo Tolstoy, Charles Dickens, and others. She published her work in the mainstream German and Jewish press, and she ran in artists' and queer circles in Weimar Berlin and in 1930s Paris. Szalit's fascinating life demonstrates how women artists gained access to Jewish and avant-garde movements by experimenting with different media and genres. This engaging and deeply moving biography explores the life, work, and cultural contexts of an exceptional Jewish woman artist. Complementing studies such as Michael Brenner's The Renaissance of Jewish Culture in Weimar Germany, Traces of a Jewish Artist: The Lost Life and Work of Rahel Szalit (Penn State UP, 2024) brings Rahel Szalit into the larger conversation about Jewish artists, Expressionism, and modern art.
