Conan O'Brien discusses with the New Yorker Radio Hour the murders of Rob and Michelle Reiner, reflecting on seeing them at his party the day they were killed, and notes Nick Reiner's not-guilty plea in LA Superior Court with an April 29 court date; Nick Reiner faces two murder counts with an enhancement that could bring the death penalty or life without parole and is held without bail at Twin Towers.Conan also comments on Stephen Colbert being angry about the situation around his show, the impact on staff, and broader issues of voices being silenced, while noting he's enjoyed opportunities after leaving late night.Colbert is scheduled to be live after tonight's State of the Union. The episode highlights new specials: Taylor Tomlinson's fourth Netflix hour “Prodigal Daughter,” filmed at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids and covering topics including coming out as bisexual, faith, religious trauma, sexuality, and fear of death; and Pete Holmes' “Silly, Silly, Fun Boy” premiering on the 800 Pound Gorilla YouTube channel, plus mention of Matt Rife and Paul Elia's “Low Key” special.Brian Posehn tells Northern Public Radio he's always been an alternative comic and comments on today's comedy climate as a ‘revenge of the jocks.'Jim Jefferies explains his political positioning between Australia and the U.S., criticizes religion in politics, says most people are moderates, and says he's glad he isn't hosting a topical show in 2026, preferring to do a multicam sitcom.Jenny Zigrino discusses fundraising for her new special “After Birth,” the financial pressures of algorithms and social media, how her 2017 Comedy Central special paid $20,000, how she used GoFundMe for a later special that Comedy Central released in 2023, and how platforms like Facebook can pay comedians but require constant posting; she says Netflix won't look at you without 500,000+ followers. Jim Breuer criticizes American Airlines, saying he was removed from a paid first-class seat on a Honolulu-to-Phoenix flight to accommodate a commuting pilot, calling it theft; reports say he received a $400 refund and a $500 voucher and his request to speak to someone went unanswered. Johnny notes a surprise bonus episode with Mike Chisholm from the Letterman Podcast, updates on the Comedy Survivor Facebook group after a mini controversy and Jim Gaffigan being voted out, lists remaining comedians, reads a listener email comparing his voice to Maynard James Keenan, and shares press comments from Joel McHale and Dennis Leary, including Leary's interest in doing a musical and McHale's joke about Netflix airing only ‘Animal Control' and not Leary's show. 00:26 Conan on Reiner Tragedy01:25 Late Night Pressure Talk02:26 Tonight's Specials Lineup04:10 Jim Jefferies Politics Split05:26 Jenny Zigrino Algorithm Grind06:53 Jim Breuer Airline Caper09:58 Bonus Episode and Survivor11:41 Listener Voice Comparison13:35 Leary and McHale Press Bits Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/daily-comedy-news-with-johnny-mac--4522158/support.Daily Comedy News is the number one comedy news podcast, delivering daily coverage of standup comedy, late night television, comedy specials, tours, and the business of comedy.COMEDY SURVIVOR in the facebook group.Contact John at John@thesharkdeck dot com For Uninterrupted Listening, use the Apple Podcast App and click the banner that says Uninterrupted Listening. $4.99/month John's Substack about media is free. This is the animal sanctuary mentioned in the February 10 episode.

On this episode of Another Goddamn Horror Podcast, we're joined by the always sharp and endlessly funny Jenny Zigrino, here to talk about her brand-new stand-up comedy tour, Afterbirth. We dig into the writing process behind the tour, what it's like building a new hour in the wild world of modern stand-up, and how comedians keep their edge while constantly evolving.Jenny breaks down life on the road, making comedy that actually says something, and the weird behind-the-scenes realities of the stand-up grind. We still sneak in some pop-culture talk, some light genre chatter, and plenty of laughs — but this one's all about comedy, craft, and Jenny's killer new material.Perfect for fans of stand-up comedy, comedy tours, female comedians, comedian interviews, independent comedy, and anyone who wants to know what really goes into shaping a new hour.A smart, funny, real conversation — and a must-listen before Jenny hits your city on the Afterbirth Tour.

In 2011, Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl released The Binding of Isaac, a crude Flash project that grew into one of the most influential indie games of its era. We trace McMillen's path from comics to Super Meat Boy, his partnership with Himsl, and the deeply personal religious themes that shaped Isaac's grotesque story. The episode highlights its Zelda-inspired dungeons, roguelike randomization, and item transformations that turned every run into a new tale of survival. Our conversation explores critic and fan reactions, Nintendo's rejection over “blasphemous” content, and how expansions, remakes, and community mods expanded it into Rebirth, Afterbirth, and Repentance. From small experiment to genre-defining giant, we explore how Isaac sparked the roguelike revival. Join us as we dodge, cry, and descend into Isaac's basement on today's trip down Memory Card Lane.Read transcript

FanGraphs' Michael Baumann is back to discuss the results of the Fan Exchange Program we discussed earlier this summer. He crunched the numbers, synthesized, and analyzed so we could come to our own wild ass conclusion and slander cities we don't like. We also discussed his article about the playoff field being cemented earlier than recent years and how we should all be panicking and demanding changes to the playoff format. Then we discuss some Phillies rollercoaster stuff like them getting swept in New York, Schwarber's four-home run game, and JT getting his in the danglers yet again. We wrap up with some mailbag that gets into discussions about food safety when bringing in your own treats to the ballpark. Check out all of Baumann's recent articles: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/author/mbaumann/ Get ahold of us on discord or bluesky if you can go to the Royals game on the 17th and get us the Royals TTRPG giveaway. This month we have a cross promotion with Tuck Woodstock's Gender Reveal podcast! Our patreon subscribers can get a free month of the Gender Reveal patreon for free! The hotly anticipated Jurassic World: Rebirth has finally hit theaters after the excruciatingly long, three-year wait to see what happened after Jurassic World: Dominion. Get ready for the seventh iteration of people going to an island with dinosaurs for money. It's full of surprises! Follow us on Instagram and email us at coffeeanddeathsticks@gmail.com
Here we are once more, 3 years after Dominion and the podcast is staring down the barrel of another Jurassic Park sequel. And once again, we have thoughts. This time, Charlie and Kevin are a little more divided on their feelings on this latest entry into the Jurassic franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, but they can both agree on one thing: at least its not Dominion. Another Paternity Leave Installment, and we're grabbing another wildly problematic episode pulled from the back catalog. As mentioned over the past couple of months, this has been behind the Patreon paywall for a while. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. After that first payment, you won't be charged again until we're dropping new content (which we'll warn everyone is coming), so if you want more of this it can be had, along with access to the fully uncut episodes from 100 to present and Movie Club episodes. When proceedings kick off with a pooch gleefully dragging discarded afterbirth down the sidewalk, you know you're in for something special. “Taboo” (S7E14) delivers on that opening promise, proffering some of the wildest, most disgusting things seen in the Munchie annals. As Adam and Josh frolic through the filth, they talk pseudocyesis, the history of Bellevue, bus fight Twitter, and the epidemic of incest in the U.S. And speaking of incest, wow, does this installment of SVU find a way to make something already SUPER disturbing mindblowingly revolting. This episode is so nuts, you'll feel the Unit needs to interview you afterwards. Hold onto your butts coz this one is BONKERS.Sources:Cryo-Cell International: Is Placenta Stem Cell Banking Worth the Hype?NIH - National Library of Medicine: Endocrinology and Physiology of PseudocyesisThe Atlantic - America Has an Incest ProblemMusic:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Lauren A, Jannicke HS, Giselle V, Roni C, and Nourhane B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! I invite you to my Shabbes table instead, so we can actually talk to each other and face her fears." Spoiler: no one accepted her invitation. Bio:Elisa Albert is the author of the novels Human Blues, After Birth, The Book of Dahlia, the story collection How This Night is Different, and the essay collection The Snarling Girl. Her work has been published in n+1, Tin House, Bennington Review, The New York Times, Michigan Quarterly Review, The Literary Review, Philip Roth Studies, Paris Review, Los Angeles Review of Books, Longreads, The Cut, Time Magazine, Post Road, Gulf Coast, Commentary, Salon, Tablet, Washington Square, The Rumpus, The Believer and in many anthologies.
