Text: Prov 20:17 ESV17 Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be full of gravel..-Prov 20:17 ESVCRIME DOES NOT PAYThere is a temporary pleasure involved in sin (Prov 9:17). It may give fleeting pleasures.[Heb 11`:25] But the consequences of that sin will come, eventually. Those results can be intensely bitter. The metaphor is about one eating something sweet but later he finds he's mouth is bleeding. Yet this is what sin does. It promises freedom and pleasure (Gen 3:4–5) But, unbeknownst to the person it leads to misery and slavery (Gen 3:16–19; Rom 6:17–18; Jas 1:13–18). This is the same as the phrase "crime doesn't pay." That is, the eventual consequences greatly outweigh the short-term benefits. There is more trouble than benefit in committing a crime. One sad example is Achan. he ignored God's warning. He hid the forbidden items and suffered. Joshua and the people of Israel took Achan and confiscated the illicit goods. Achan's sons and daughters and all accomplices in the theft were brought to the Valley of Achor, where they were stoned to death.[Joshua 7:21–25], The warning today is “Be sure your sin will find you out.”[Num 32:23] Regret in life is always the result of presumptuousness. That, one can continue sinning without dire consequences.-------------------------Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

The Second Hand Pistol

Alan Baxter made a name for himself playing dangerous characters on screen - moody men on the wrong side of the law. He turned to television as film roles dried up in the postwar years, and he was busy on the small screen up through the 1970s. In his one and only visit to Suspense, Baxter played a bank teller with an elaborate plan to get away with robbery in "Money Talks" (originally aired on CBS on July 3, 1947). We'll also hear Mr. Baxter in two more thrillers: "Make No Mistake" from The Mollé Mystery Theatre (originally aired on NBC on April 30, 1948) and "Law of the Jungle" from the syndicated series Crime Does Not Pay. Note: No intro this week; allergy season claimed my voice again but hopefully I'll be back soon!

Airing from 1933 – 1939, Calling All Cars is an old-time radio police drama examining cases that had been handled by the Los Angeles Police Department. A typical episode began by relating the facts of a particular crime, then introducing individuals who were associated with the case. A dramatization followed, climaxing in the arrest of the criminal. The outcome of a trial wrapped up the story.
