Back to work in this crazy heat! Looking at cooler temps later this week! In the news this morning, an updated on the murder of Charlie Kirk, last Friday's Amber Alert in WI has been canceled after the young girl was found safe, flood victims in Wisconsin can now seek FEMA assistance, and Mike Wolfe from "American Pickers" is hospitalized after a car crash In sports, the Brewers took two out of three from the Cardinals this weekend and became the first team in MLB to clinch a postseason berth, the Bears & the Vikings both lost yesterday, the Badgers got dominated on Saturday, and Bengals QB Joe Burrow could be out for awhile with a toe injury. We talked about what's on TV today/tonight and looked at the list of winners from last night's Emmy awards. Really cool story about sportsmanship during the steeplechase at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. And check out this bride who was walked down the aisle by her landlord. Elsewhere in sports, some college coaches are already getting fired, the outcome of the Canelo/Crawford fight, and Cal Raleigh keeps hitting dingers! There's a new wedding trend that's trying to get the guests to help pay for the honeymoon of the newlyweds, and even though it's still summer…some stores have already got their Christmas stuff out on the floors. Some sad stats about people who are addicted to using ChatGPT, and there were not one….not two…but at least THREE green dildos thrown onto the fields during yesterday's NFL games! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who tunneled into his upstairs neighbor's apartment, a drone that was being used to locate some lost dogs in Maine was shot out of the sky, a couple spent four years trying to track down a wedding crasher who accidentally ended up in their wedding day pictures, and a #FloridaWoman who's mad at her bf for eating all her marathon snacks.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Do the Steelers have any chance in their NFL playoffs matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, considering how bad they've looked during their four-game losing streak? Do they still know more ways to stop Lamar Jackson than anyone else in the league? What factor will Mike Tomlin's past success vs. Ravens coach John Harbaugh play? He also has plenty of questions about the state of the team. What are Russell Wilson's biggest problems right now, and how can he fix them? Is George Pickens hurting more than he's helping? Did Arthur Smith have his worst game with the Steelers in the Week 18 loss to the Bengals? And does the defense deserve credit for slowing Bengals QB Joe Burrow after giving up a touchdown on the first drive?
Post-Gazette sports writers Adam Bittner and Paul Zeise react live after the Steelers' NFL Week 18 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium. Can QB Russell Wilson shake of his string of costly turnovers and build passing game momentum with targets including George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth, Calvin Austin III and Mike Williams? How will Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris manage in the running game? Were offensive linemen including Zach Frazier, Broderick Jones and Dan Moore Jr. able to provide better protection? How did Minkah Fitzpatrick, Joey Porter Jr and DeShon Elliott bounce back after a tough few weeks for the pass defense? And were T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward and Alex Highsmith able to get better pressure on Bengals QB Joe Burrow?
Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Gerry Dulac and Ray Fittipaldo react to the team's NFL Week 18 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium. Why did coach Mike Tomlin and OC Arthur Smith abandon the pass-heavy attack led by Russell Wilson that worked against this opponent a month ago to focus on Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and the running game? Was the game plan too reliant on a regressing offensive line, with names like Dan Moore Jr. and Broderick Jones struggling? What should we make of tight end Pat Freiermuth's busy night as the leading receiver? How were Bengals QB Joe Burrow and WR Ja'Marr Chase able to have success against Cory Trice Jr., Joey Porter Jr., Minkah Fitzpatrick and the Steelers secondary? And what are the likely NFL playoff scenarios heading into the final day of the regular season Sunday? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
Jimmy Burrow, father of Bengals QB Joe Burrow joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss Joe's amazing 2024 season and how the Bengals will finish their 2024 season. Joe has had an amazing 2024 season throwing for over 4,200 yards and 39 touchdowns. He would be the front-runner for MVP if the Bengals were in the playoff picture with the Chiefs, Bills, and others but with their 7-8 record they're on the outside looking in. The Bengals still have a slim chance to make the playoffs and upset the Bills in the first round but it starts with them beating the Denver Broncos this Saturday, who are also looking to secure that last playoff spot in the AFC. We want to thank Jimmy for being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics. December 2, 2024 - Season 15, Episode 59 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday afternoon episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers' Sunday afternoon road win against the Cincinnati Bengals and how it was an unexpected shootout that they came out on the right side of. There was not much in the way of pre-game news to discuss when it comes to the Steelers, but we knock that out early in the show. That includes no Saturday transactions being made, the inactive list being as expected and the team only sustaining one injury on Sunday against the Bengals. We also discuss the Steelers hopefully being a very healthy team next Sunday. With the housekeeping all out of the way, Alex and I dive into the Steelers' win against the Bengals and we start on the offensive side of the football. We discuss the great game that Steelers QB Russell Wilson had in Cincinnati and go over several plays he made in addition to several impressive stats from that contest. After spending a lot of time discussing Wilson's Sunday play, Alex and I make sure to go over several other things, most of which were very positive, concerning the play of the Steelers' offense. We talk about several individual performances on offense. We also talk some about WR George Pickens and his few penalties on Sunday and the reaction HC Mike Tomlin had to them after the game. We discuss how Pickens needs to stop the nonsense and grow up quickly. After spending a lot of time talking about the Steelers' offense, Alex and I move on to the defensive play from Sunday. We talk about the penalty-filled game that CB Joey Porter Jr. had for starters. We also discuss several other big plays, how the defense played against Bengals QB Joe Burrow, the red zone defense and more. We make sure to highlight the positive Sunday play of OLB T.J. Watt, DT Cameron Heyward, and OLB Nick Herbig. We also discuss CB Cameron Sutton playing a lot snaps on Sunday as well. The Steelers' special teams weren't perfect on Sunday but good enough. We go over the blocked field goal and more to wind down our recap of the road win against the Bengals. This 94-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey reacts to the Steelers' NFL Week 13 victory against the Bengals in Cincinnati. How important was it for coach Mike Tomlin's team to prove it could win a shootout, with Russell Wilson outdueling Bengals QB Joe Burrow? And does that ability make this team an AFC contender with the Chiefs and Bills? Jason tackles those questions, analyzes rough days with penalties for George Pickens and Joey Porter Jr. and praises the offensive line as well as T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig and the ferocious pass rush that forced Burrow into two strip sack fumbles and an interception.
