But it was the chance invitation to church that truly turned his life around. Today he's six years sober, fresh off the release of his fourth studio album, and doing collaborations with superstars like Carrie Underwood. Scott Hill wraps up our series for Lent in 2025 leading us into the practice of Silence & Solitude, through the story of Moses in 1 Kings 19.
Join us this Sunday as we conclude our series, Deeper Still, by looking at Jesus' final words in at his last supper with his disciples. Remarkably, those last words were spent praying for you! How does it make you feel to know that the eternal Son of God prayed for you in some of his final moments before heading to the cross?
This Sunday, we'll dive into the first half of John 17:1-19, where Jesus prays not only for his disciples, but also for himself. Why would the Son of God need to pray for himself, we might ask? And how is that prayer relevant for us? Join us as we consider this prayer from Jesus as he approached the cross.
Rebecca continues our lenten series, deeper still, exploring how we go deeper in our connection to Jesus through Prayer & Fasting.
This Sunday we'll be exploring the rest of John 16. If Jesus promised to give us his peace (John 14:27), then why do our lives still feel un-peaceful so much of the time? If he promised to answer whatever we ask in his name, then why do we still feel anxious so often, even when we seek relief in him? Join us at Reunion as we explore some of the answers to these questions, and the durable hope we have in Jesus.
Colin continues our teaching series throughout lent, exploring spiritual practices which lead us deeper in our faith. This week, he focuses on Worship & Gratitude, exploring the role of the song, our bodies, and The Spirit.
Join us this Sunday as we explore John 15 and 16. We see Jesus return to the theme of the Helper, the Spirit of God, that He sent to us. What role does the Spirit play in our lives? What role does the Spirit play in the world as we await Christ's return? And can it really be true that we are better off without Jesus here with us in the flesh?
Scott continues our series Deeper Still exploring Jesus practices and life of hospitality & community, and how we can be a people who make space for the stranger.
On Sunday, Dilys continued our series for Lent called Deeper Still, sharing about the practices of Sabbath and Celebration and God's gift to his people of both rest and delight.
This Sunday when we join together in Reunion we'll be considering Jesus' words in John 15. Andrew Murray once said that if every Christian would let the words of this passage sink into their hearts, then "all will be right." Let's come together and soak up these words from our friend and King, Jesus!
Hello COTC family! We have a bold, beautiful vision for Guelph. We long for a day when every person in our city could encounter Jesus and experience the wholeness of life in his kingdom. In some ways, this vision grows bolder every year, as our city continues to grow: the Guelph census area surpassed 180,000 people last year! Sadly, the church in Guelph is far from keeping pace with this growth. We don't believe it is the responsibility of the lost person to seek out the church and ask to hear the gospel. We are called to go out into the world, showing and sharing the love of Jesus, making disciples who make disciples. We take our cues from Jesus on this: "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost." (Luke 19:10)This is the driving passion behind missional communities. We desire to be outposts of God's kingdom scattered throughout the city, following Jesus together and inviting others to follow him with us. This is beautiful work, but it is also very often hard, and it is almost always slow. This is our goal for Missional March: to commit ourselves to this vision again. To be willing to make a sacrifice in order to see this vision realized, and to encourage one another in our acts of generosity that we are, indeed, following Jesus together in Guelph. Our goal to raise this month is $45,000, but really, the invitation is to make a sacrificial investment in this ministry with us, whatever that may be for you. You don't need to earmark your giving in any way to be a part of this campaign; we're just tracking all of our donations through the month of March. You can find all the ways you can give here! Stay tuned for stories all month of what God is doing in and through everyday disciples on mission.
Rob opens our new series for Lent 2025; Deeper Still, exploring how spiritual practices can lead us further and deeper in our discipleship in the season ahead.

In this episode of Deeper Still, Suanne Camfield interviews Pete Stearns, the lead pastor of St. Mark's Community Church in Burlington, NC. Pete opens the episode by sharing an unexpected way his church got involved with relief efforts for Hurricane Helene, what he's discovered about the joys and challenges of becoming a lead pastor and how he's learned to preach without notes. Suanne & Pete spend the second half of the conversation exploring the concept of sin, reframing its focus from behavior management to understanding it as a sickness form which there is only one cure. Pete emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit, defining the process of sanctification, as the Spirit transforms our hearts and cultivates our character, as well as the need for consistency and community as we find our way.Time Stamps00:00 Introduction and Context Setting02:37 Hurricane Relief Efforts and Community Response09:00 Transitioning to a New Community and Family Life13:31 Surprises of Lead Pastorship18:03 Preaching Without Notes: The Process22:57 The Theology of Sin: A New Perspective28:18 Redefining Sin and Its Implications33:23 The Journey to Freedom from Sin38:16 Understanding the Role of the Holy Spirit43:57 Sanctification: A Process of Growth49:20 The Importance of Bearing Fruit in Community

This podcast is not a substitute for professional counseling or qualified medical help. [00:00:26] Now, here is Diana. [00:00:33] Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. How are you doing today? It has been a crazy week. It is very hot here right now. We Phoenicians like to talk about the weather and how horrible it is in the summer. So right now we're in our tropical storm season. [00:00:55] It's 110 here, but we have now humidity [00:01:00] about 38%, I'd say. So for us, that's very sticky and very hot. I was out in the garden at 6am doing my chores. I stopped at 8. 30 because I was getting nauseous and dizzy, uh, that is the first stage of heat exhaustion. So, I stopped my chores today. Uh, and it will 120 degrees every summer it does. [00:01:28] That's, that's normal for us, and why do we live here and put up with that heat? Well, because the rest of the year, it's gorgeous. It's, it's 75 degrees during the winter. And so that's what we live for.
The truth was too shameful, and the feelings were too painful. So, Mark and Marti locked up their teenage secret in a box never to be opened. But as Christ so lovingly does, he has been gently opening the box and letting his light in. The effect has been beauty and healing in the most unlikely place. In this episode of Breaking Bread, Mark and Marti Teubel share their post-abortion story. Show notes: Post-abortive care includes caring for the living victims of abortion – Mom and Dad. Many moms and dads carry the wounds of loss, regret and shame for decades after their abortion. The unique pain that moms and dads carry is the hindered ability to grieve loss and heartache in their families. They erroneously tell themselves, “I can't grieve this loss because I caused that loss.” Or “This pain is retribution for my actions.” Abortion influences how moms and dads parent. They desperately want to prove that they are “good” parents. Good post-abortive care is available. Deeper Still is one such resource.
