Medio centenar de estudiantes de Formación Profesional (FP) del IES Bezmiliana de Rincón de la Victoria participarán en las II Jornadas de Jóvenes Emprendedores impulsadas por la Diputación Provincial de Málaga a iniciativa del Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud. El alumnado del 2º curso del Grado Medio en Telecomunicaciones, Grado Medio y Superior en Informática, y Grado Superior en Administración de Empresas se desplazarán hasta Vélez-Málaga el próximo 5 de febrero. La concejala de Juventud de Rincón de la Victoria, Belén Gutiérrez (PP), ha asistido junto a la diputada de Empleo y Formación, María del Carmen Márquez, el director general del Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud, Pedro Ramírez; la delegada territorial de Inclusión Social, Juventud, Familias e Igualdad en Málaga, Ruth Sarabia, y otros representantes municipales a la presentación de las jornadas. La edil ha explicado que “el objetivo de esta iniciativa en la que participamos es dar a conocer a nuestros jóvenes las herramientas y ayudas disponibles para desarrollar sus proyectos empresariales y fomentar el espíritu emprendedor”. El alcalde de Rincón de la Victoria y presidente de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga, Francisco Salado (PP), ha animado a los jóvenes “a aprovechar sus cualidades y habilidades para poner en marcha nuevos proyectos y negocios”. Por su parte, María del Carmen Márquez ha explicado que “se trata de empoderar a los jóvenes para animarles a emprender y visualizar un camino profesional en función sus habilidades y cualidades. “En las jornadas, los jóvenes encontrarán herramientas que les permitirán desarrollarse a nivel personal y profesional”. Por su lado, Ruth Sarabia ha apuntado que en las primeras jornadas, celebradas el año pasado, se demostró que en la provincia hay mucho talento y, sobre todo, ganas de emprender. “Casi el 40% de los jóvenes de Málaga tiene interés en emprender, y eso supone un salto de 20 puntos en un año. Y queremos que ese interés se vuelque y se concrete en la puesta en marcha de nuevos proyectos o negocios en la provincia, que es motor económico, turístico y empresarial”, ha resaltado. Y Pedro Ramírez ha recalcado que se trata de unas jornadas enriquecedoras para los jóvenes y ha abundado en que desde el Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud se apuesta por el emprendimiento no solo a través de la línea de subvenciones Innoactiva, sino también a través de talleres de emprendimiento en institutos. Celebración de las jornadas Las jornadas -que cuentan con el apoyo de empresas patrocinadoras como Grupo Vértice, Digi Tech y Mejoradora- arrancarán el jueves próximo, 23 de enero, en el IES La Rosaleda, en la capital; y continuarán el 30 de enero en el Teatro Felipe VI, de Estepona; el 5 de febrero en el Teatro El Carmen, de Vélez Málaga; y el 18 de marzo en el Teatro Manuel España, de Las Lagunas, Mijas. El evento contará con la participación de importantes figuras del ámbito empresarial como Google Safety Engineering Center, Freepik y Harper&Neyer, y tiene como objetivo ofrecer un espacio de aprendizaje y colaboración entre jóvenes emprendedores, expertos y empresas. La jornada presenta un programa de actividades que incluirá ponencias motivacionales, espacios de ‘networking’ con empresarios y emprendedores para que relaten sus experiencias, así como información y ayudas para los jóvenes emprendedores.

It is difficult to imagine life without them,” she continues. “At the same time, there is reluctance to face the realities hidden within them, a fear of thinking about what happens inside them. Thus, the prison is present in our lives and, at the same time, it is absent from our lives.” --Angela Davis, Are Prisons Obsolete?Joining me for a conversation on this topic is Bryan Davis and Nicholas Leete of LGBT Books to Prisoners and Mira Braneck of A Room of One's Own bookstore.LGBT Books to Prisoners was born out of the Wisconsin Books to Prisoners (WI BtP) in 2007. LGBT Books to Prisoners is a prison abolitionist, volunteer-run project which primarily works to send books requested by queer people in prison in the United States. With me today are two volunteers, Nicholas Leete and Bryan Davis.Bryan Davis is a graduate from UW-Madison's School of Human Ecology with a degree in nonprofit management. He first became involved with LGBT Books to Prisoners as a volunteer in 2016 and eventually joined the board of directors. He also worked in the non-profit sector in fundraising, development, and communications for an organization serving children who experience neglect and teens in the foster care system. He currently serves on the Social Justice Center's board of directors located off of Willy Street which manages the building's operations and programming which includes renting space to numerous nonprofits like LGBT Books to Prisoners.Nicholas Leete has been a volunteer with LGBT Books to Prisoners since 2016, and has been a volunteer organizer with the group for the last few years. Additionally, Nicholas is a WORT volunteer and a worker at Rooted, a local food sovereignty non-profit.A Room of One's Own is a local, independent feminist bookstore, in Madison since 1975, currently on Atwood Avenue. Asustar o avergonzar a alguien para que vote de una determinada manera es una estrategia tramposa e inmadura que siempre será contraproducente porque a nadie le gusta que lo traten como a un niño asustándolo o engañándolo para que haga cosas. Esto es típico de dictadores como Nicolás Maduro, Fidel y Raúl Castro, Kim Jong Un y Vladimir Putin -todos ellos de izquierda- o Adolfo Hitler y los ayatolás de Irán en la derecha. Cualquier político que no sepa persuadir a la gente con respeto, integridad y argumentos inteligentes y que tenga que recurrir en cambio al miedo y la intimidación para ganar votos es indigno de liderar ningún país, partido o empresa. Cantantes de pop, rap y R&B, y actores aturdidos como Robert de Niro, Oprah Winfrey y Whoopi Goldberg, hicieron el ridículo amenazando en voz alta con la inminente llegada del nazismo, la dictadura y el fin del mundo si la gente no votaba como ellos querían. Lamentablemente, este tipo de engaño político se utiliza en todo continente y en todo partido político. Así pues, es hora de meditar en el fatalismo o catastrofismo como estrategia para conseguir y mantener el poder. The Army is actively seeking innovative programs and ideas to address the recruitment and retention challenges it faces. One such idea is the newly designed Blended Education Program (BEP) at the U.S. Army War College. The BEP is a hybrid program that combines the best aspects of the residential program, including staff rides to Gettysburg, Washington D.C., and New York City, with the remote flexibility of the distance education program, all within a 10-month academic year. It aims to help retain talented senior officers who wish to remain at their current duty stations while furthering their professional military education. Carl Benander, an AY24 BEP graduate, and Dr. Mark Duckenfield, the director of the program, joined podcast editor Ron Granieri to discuss the program's early successes and lessons learned. The BEP offers a mix of synchronous and asynchronous learning, allowing students to interact with each other and their instructors in real time. Although still in its early stages, the BEP has been a success so far and is expected to continue and grow in the future. And so I was looking for any opportunity to to have some stability for the family. So that was really the appeal. Carl Benander is a Special Forces officer and a colonel in the U.S. Army. He is the commander of the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Liberty, NC. He is a 2024 graduate of the Blended Education Program (BEP) at the U.S. Army War College. Mark Duckenfield is Professor of International Economics in the Department of National Security and Strategy (DNSS) and at the Strategic Studies Institute and the Director of the Blended Education Program (BEP). He is the former Chair of DNSS at the U.S. Army War College. Mark holds an MA and a PhD in Political Science from Harvard University where he specialized in European political economy. He has written numerous academic articles on gold, financial crises and international political economy and is the author of the book Business and the Euro.
