    ​​Valerie Dowling is the Director of the Women's Democracy Network at the International Republican Institute. Since taking the role in 2016, Valerie has been passionately spearheading efforts to enhance women's involvement in elected offices worldwide, to foster inclusive and diverse political landscapes. Valerie's past roles include Director of Women's Programs in the Office of the Co-Chairman at the Republican National Committee, Political Director for the National Federation of Republican Women, and Pennsylvania Coalitions Director for the Romney for President Campaign. As a result of her initiatives, she successfully engaged more women within the Republican Party, leading to increased influence and amplified the voices of Republican women across the country. Valerie's experience in various capacities within the Bush Administration provided her with valuable insights into government operations and policy-making processes. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Valerie actively contributes to the Women's Public Leadership Network as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, advocating for the advancement of women in leadership roles.   Today, Valerie and I discuss the importance of increasing women's political participation, leadership, and representation globally. She emphasizes the need for women to take an active role in politics and highlights the power and potential of women in shaping policy and the future. Nilmini Rubin is the Chief of Staff and Head of Global Policy for Hedera. Previously, she worked on the global policy team at Meta, and before that, Nilmini headed Tetra Tech's global team, implementing energy and internet projects that resulted in millions of people gaining access to electricity for the first time. For 12 years, she served as a senior aide on both the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, where she spearheaded the passage of legislation to provide electricity access in Africa, increase global internet access, reduce corruption through transparency, and reform U.S. foreign assistance. She is an adviser to the Women's Democracy Network and the Energy Growth Hub, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Academy of the Global Teacher Prize, and the International Mindfulness Teachers Association.Betsabe Botaitis is the newly appointed treasurer and chief financial officer at Hedera. She was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. During the Mexican peso crisis in the 1990s. The crisis left many families in financial ruin, and after witnessing her family being negatively impacted, she enrolled in a 6-month course to become a bank teller at 14-years old. Betsabe began her career as a bank teller at Citibank at the age of 15 and rose through the ranks, growing more interested in fintech and financial inclusion as her career progressed. She has since held senior positions at companies like Citigroup, and Lending Club. Botaitis is a member of Hipower, a network of executive women leaders in Silicon Valley, and she was recently awarded Nasdaq's top honor at the annual Latina Disruptors Event. Katharine C. Gorka was the Executive Director of The Westminster Institute. Katharine spent nearly two decades working in Central Europe. She was the regional head of the USAID-funded Democracy Network program, run by the National Forum Foundation, covering the countries of Central Europe and the Balkans. Katharine later co-founded with her husband, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, the Institute for Transitional Democracy and International Security (ITDIS), which focused on issues of economic reform and the problems associated with former communists and secret police in post-communist democracies. In her former position as head of the Westminster Institute, Katharine was responsible for helping to define the threat posed by Islamic terrorism and subversion in the United States. She works closely with US government agencies, law enforcement and the intelligence community. Most recently she authored “Sharia Finance and the U.S.Constitution,” and she is co-editor of the volume, Fighting the Ideological War: Winning Strategies from Communism to Islamism.

Sui Lang Panoke, MPA is the Founder/ Director of Women Politics Media (WPM) – a global leadership and communications training organization designed to prepare today’s leaders to be highly effective leaders and communicators in their families, careers and communities. WPM trainings encompass a 3-tier core curriculum centered on personal empowerment, leadership development and professional communications training. She has secured multiple clients and partnerships with a myriad of local, national, and international women, minority, and young professional organizations throughout the U.S. and Africa. She is an op-ed author, ghost writer, and political/media strategist whose work has been published in the Washington Post, the New York Times and a number of local, national and global publications around the world. WPM is on track to launch its newest project, the RE-Think Tank for Women, on June 10, 2016 in Washington, DC. Sui Lang is also committed to getting more women and people of color elected to public office. She has served at Emily’s List, the Congressional Black Caucus’ PAC, the DC office of the Honorable James E. Clyburn, and the Young Democrats of America’s Women’s and Minority Caucus working on local, state-wide and national campaigns. 
 
WPM is committed to empowering women and minority leaders around the world to engage in the political process and pursue positions of power in the public and private sector.  In 2010, WPM partnered with the International Republican Institute’s Women’s Democracy Network and IRI Nigeria to train women aspirants, media experts, Political Party leaders, and members of the National Assembly on political communications and messaging in Lagos, Nigeria. Most notably in 2013, Sui Lang served as an Expert Trainer for IRI South Sudan training women and men serving as Political Party leaders and members of Parliament on strategic communications, political speech writing, public speaking, and debating skills in Juba, South Sudan. WPM has also facilitated media and political communications workshops at the bi-annual World Learning conference in Washington, DC bringing together over 240 International Fellows from over 40 different countries to gain practical skills and experience from American experts working in a diverse range of public and private sector fields.

Sui Lang currently serves on the Advisory Board of Vote It Loud – a national minority voter initiative aimed to increase civic engagement within minority communities in America. Vote It Loud successfully launched its Inaugural Multi-Cultural Media Correspondents Dinner on May 26, 2016 at the National Press Club bringing together over 450 multi-cultural leaders in the media and public policy arena. She has also served as Chair of the Young Women Leaders Board 2009-14 overseeing the WeLEAD program – a nonpartisan political leadership training program targeting young women pursuing careers in politics. She also served as Vice Chair of the National Governing Board of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum from 2011-14 and has served on the Executive Board of Directors for the Patsy Mink Project 2010-12. Clark Miller is associate director of CNS-ASU, with primary responsibility for the Center’s educational programs. His research focuses on science and technology policy, including particular emphases on the governance of new and emerging technologies and the global politics of expertise. Before joining ASU, he taught at Wisconsin and Iowa State and held a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Science, Technology and Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He also is a recipient of a prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER Award and over a dozen other major grants, including a Nanotechnology Undergraduate Education award. He serves on the advisory board of the Nanotechnology Informal Science Education Network and the Bovay Center for Engineering, Ethics, and Society at the National Academy of Engineering. He is a founding co-organizer and member of the governing council of the Science and Democracy Network, a global professional community for research on the politics of science and technology.
