We had the pleasure of interviewing The Guess Who over Zoom video!Earlier this year, Canadian rock legends The Guess Who shared their brand new LP, Plein D'Amour, via Deko Entertainment. Upon its release, the track immediately landed on multiple editorial Spotify playlists. With follow up singles "Plein D'Amour" and "Headline," the three tracks racked up over 250,000 streams collectively and making this record the highest new release in the band's history.The Guess Who Bio:The Guess Who is a legendary Canadian band who enjoyed chart topping hits in the late 60s and early 70s with an impressive catalogue of songs including "American Woman," "These Eyes," and "No Time." During the course of its career, the band has released 11 studio albums, and charted 14 Top 40 hit singles, 2 of which went to number one in the United States. Before The Guess Who, Michael was the guitarist for Lou Gramm. Michael is one of only a few guitar players to work with Lou Gramm, the voice of “Hot Blooded,” “Head Games,” “Juke Box Hero,” “I Want to Know to What Love Is” and other signature songs of the classic-rock era. That makes him a full-fledged member of a significant guitar-playing fraternity that also includes Foreigner founder Mick Jones, Nils Lofgren and Vivian Campbell. Michael has been the focus of articles in Guitar World, Guitar One and Vintage Guitar magazines, and he was featured in Gbase.com's Gearhead Gazette as well as  featured on many popular podcasts. He expresses his admiration for musicians that continue to come up with new material that is both good and fresh, and that's exactly what he sees with their new album. Derek Sharp is the longest tenured singer in The Guess Who, who recently released their first major album in over 20 years, entitled ‘The Future IS What It Used To Be’. Derek has spent over 20 years playing music professionally and over a decade touring with one of Canada’s greatest rock acts.   D Sharp joins the DTP to talk about how he ended up joining The Guess Who, and how after years of playing together the band decided it couldn’t wait any longer to get into the studio. Writing songs that could fit seamlessly into their setlist of classic rock tracks, what legendary bassist Rudy Sarzo brought to the group when he joined, releasing new music in the age of streaming, and even winning an award for best actor for one of the bands music videos! A new KISS tribute album is coming out in August. Many KISS fans will let out a collective yawn when they hear this news. But, this time it's different; for many reasons. Good friend of the Decibel Geek Podcast and a podcast personality in his own right (Dropping the Needle and Three Sidesof the Coin), Mitch Lafon joins us to discuss project he's put together that is nearing completion that helps celebrate 40 years of the Hottest Band in the Land. The kicker? It's all done for a good cause; and the KISS Army has supported it in droves.  A World With Heroes features professionally recorded performances from many artists that warm the hearts of Decibel Geek listeners everywhere. The artists involve donated their time and efforts for free and all of the proceeds go towards helping The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care, a cancer care hospice that took care of Mitch's father-in-law in his final days.The project has been funded through Pledge Music We hear the whole story of how this project was launched, its personal meaning to Mitch, and why KISS fans truly have the biggest hearts of any rock fans with how they've embraced this project and helped it come to fruition.
