In my recent episode of the Blogger Genius Podcast, I'm interviewing Megan Porter, host of the Eat Blog Talk podcast, about the world of food blogging now. Megan shares her thoughts on the current trends and challenges in the food blogging space including how food bloggers are finding success right now in diversifying their traffic and selling their knowledge as digital products. Key Trends in Food Blogging Diversifying Traffic Sources One of the most significant trends Megan highlights is the shift away from relying solely on Google for traffic. With recent algorithm changes causing fluctuations in traffic, many bloggers are turning to alternative sources like Pinterest. Leverage Pinterest as a Search Engine: Treat Pinterest not just as a social media platform but as a search engine. Conduct keyword research to optimize your pins and ensure they are discoverable. Create Multiple Pins for Each Post: Develop various pins for each blog post, targeting different use cases and scenarios. For example, a chili recipe could be marketed for family dinners, camping trips, or potlucks. Consistency is Key: Plan to invest at least six months to a year into your Pinterest strategy before expecting significant results. Create around five unique pins for each new blog post and update older content regularly. Updating Older Content Another trend Megan discusses is the practice of updating older blog posts. This strategy helps maintain or boost traffic by improving the relevance and searchability of your existing content. Audit Your Content: Regularly review your blog archives to identify posts that could benefit from updates. Focus on improving the quality, adding new information, and optimizing for current SEO best practices. Repurpose Content: Consider repurposing older content into new formats, such as videos, infographics, or social media posts, to reach a broader audience. The Impact of Google Changes Building Authority and Expertise Google's algorithm changes have made it more challenging for newer bloggers to gain traction. Megan emphasizes the importance of building authority and expertise over time. Consistency and Persistence: Stay committed to producing high-quality content consistently. It may take time, but persistence is key to building credibility. Develop a Unique Point of View: Differentiate yourself by sharing your opinions and personal experiences. Authenticity can attract a loyal audience who resonates with your perspective. Focus on Domain Authority: Work on building your domain authority by earning backlinks from reputable sites, guest posting, and collaborating with other bloggers. Monetization Strategies Exploring Digital Products Megan and I discuss digital products as a potent revenue stream for food bloggers. With a solid email list, bloggers can effectively market ebooks, online challenges, and other digital offerings. Understand Your Audience: Conduct surveys or engage with your audience to understand their needs and preferences. Tailor your digital products to meet these demands. Start Small: Even with a smaller email list (around 1,000 to 2,000 subscribers), you can find significant potential for income. Focus on delivering value and building trust with your audience. Evaluate and Double Down: Regularly assess your monetization efforts to identify what is generating income. Double down on successful strategies and refine those that are underperforming. Affiliate Marketing Despite the challenges posed by Google's algorithm changes, affiliate marketing remains a viable income source for many bloggers. Create High-Quality Content: Focus on producing content that genuinely serves your audience. High-quality, informative posts are more likely to attract and retain readers. Diversify Affiliate Programs: Don't rely on a single affiliate program. Explore various programs and products that align with your niche and audience interests. Transparency and Trust: Be transparent about your affiliate relationships and prioritize building trust with your audience. Authentic recommendations are more likely to convert. Leveraging AI in Blogging Embracing AI as a Tool Initially, there was concern about AI's impact on blogging. However, many bloggers are now embracing AI as a valuable tool for brainstorming and content creation. Use AI for Idea Generation: Utilize AI tools to brainstorm content ideas and generate prompts. This can help overcome writer's block and provide fresh perspectives. Collaborative Writing: Treat AI as a supportive companion in your writing process. Use it to refine your writing and explore new angles. Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest AI tools and technologies that can enhance your blogging efforts. Experiment with different tools to find what works best for you. Community and Support Building a Supportive Community Megan highlights the importance of community among bloggers. She runs various groups and memberships designed to provide support and connection for food bloggers. Join Blogging Communities: Participate in online groups, forums, and memberships where you can share challenges, seek advice, and celebrate successes with fellow bloggers. Network and Collaborate: Build relationships with other bloggers in your niche. Collaborate on projects, guest post on each other's blogs, and share each other's content. Mentorship and Learning: Seek out mentors and learning opportunities within the community. Continuous learning and support can help you navigate the ups and downs of blogging. Overcoming Burnout and Staying Focused Managing Burnout Burnout is a common struggle among bloggers, especially those who are creative and often drawn to new ideas and projects. Regularly Assess Priorities: Ensure that your efforts are directed toward activities that will yield the best results. Focus on what aligns with your goals. Set Achievable Goals: Break down your long-term vision into smaller, manageable goals. This can help you stay motivated and track your progress. Stay Connected to Your “Why”: Understand the reasons behind your blogging journey. Staying connected to your purpose can help you push through challenges and remain focused. ✨MiloTree Black Friday Sale starts November 22nd! Join the waitlist here!✨ In my newest episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I interviewed online business coach, Jenny Melrose, where we delve into the evolving landscape of online business and blogging, particularly as we look ahead to 2025. Shifting Mindsets: From Pageviews to People One of the central themes of the episode is the critical need for bloggers and online entrepreneurs to transition from merely chasing pageviews to focusing on building meaningful connections with their audience. Jenny and I argue that the landscape of online business has changed, and success now hinges on how well one can serve and educate their audience rather than just generating traffic. MiloTree MiloTree Black Friday Sale Waitlist The 3 AI Prompts You Need to Create a Freebie Cheatsheet Join The Blogger Genius Newsletter Jenny Melrose Personality Quiz: What Digital Product Should I Create? Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify Key Takeaways Focus on Relationships:Building a loyal audience is more important than ever. Instead of focusing solely on pageviews, prioritize creating content that addresses the specific needs and problems of your audience. Educator Mindset: See yourself as an educator and expert in your field. This shift in perspective can help you create more valuable content and build stronger connections with your audience. Building a Strong Foundation Jenny highlights that many entrepreneurs struggle at the foundational level of their business. She points out that a significant number of clients come to her with websites that are cluttered and unfocused, making it difficult for visitors to understand what they offer. A well-structured website is essential for nurturing relationships and driving sales. Website Essentials Opt-in Opportunities: Your homepage should prominently feature an opt-in or freebie to encourage visitors to join your email list. This should be placed above the fold, ensuring that it's visible without scrolling Clear Navigation: Ensure that your website has clear navigation to three main areas of your business, such as educational resources, services, and products. This helps visitors quickly understand what you offer and how they can benefit. Content Integration: Showcase your latest blog posts, podcast episodes, and other content, along with additional opt-in opportunities to keep visitors engaged. Nurturing Your Audience I reiterate the importance of an email list as the most effective way to nurture relationships with potential customers. The number of social media followers is not as important as having a dedicated list of engaged subscribers who are interested in what you have to offer. Actionable Tips: Email Marketing: Focus on growing your email list and regularly engage with your subscribers through valuable content and offers. Personal Touch: Use your email list to build personal connections with your audience. Share your story, insights, and behind-the-scenes content to foster a sense of community. Clarity and Strategy Jenny positions herself as an educator who provides clarity and strategic plans for her clients. She encourages entrepreneurs to focus on solving specific problems for their audience, which can lead to the development of products and services that people are willing to pay for. Strategic Steps: Identify Problems: Conduct keyword research to understand the problems your audience is searching for solutions to. Content Distribution: Choose three platforms to distribute your content consistently, whether it be through podcasts, blog posts, or videos. For instance, if you start with a podcast, transcribe the audio into a blog post for greater visibility and engagement. Product Development: Develop products and services that address the specific needs of your audience. This positions you as an expert and creates additional revenue streams. Overcoming Overwhelm Many entrepreneurs feel overwhelmed by the myriad of options available to them. Break down your goals into manageable tasks and prioritize them based on their impact on your business. Don't hesitate to seek support from mentors, coaches, or online communities to help you stay focused and motivated. Learning from Experience Jenny reflects on her journey as a former lifestyle blogger and the lessons learned from her experiences, including the challenges of algorithm changes and the importance of adapting to the evolving digital landscape. We both stress the value of sharing these lessons to help others avoid similar pitfalls. Lessons Learned: Adaptability: Stay flexible and be willing to adapt your strategies as the digital landscape changes. Continuous Learning: Invest in your education and stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in your industry. Final Thoughts Focus on building a solid foundation for their businesses, prioritize nurturing your audience, and embrace a mindset of education and problem-solving. By doing so, you can position yourself as an expert in your field and create sustainable, scalable businesses in the ever-evolving online landscape. In the most recent episode of the Blogger Genius Podcast, I sit down with Kimberly Espinel, a renowned food photographer and Instagram expert behind the blog The Little Plantation. Together, we explore the evolving landscape of food blogging, the impact of AI, and actionable strategies for leveraging Instagram to build community and engagement. The Evolution of Food Blogging The Pandemic Boom Kimberly reflects on the surge in food blogging during the pandemic. With more people cooking at home, the demand for recipes and food content skyrocketed. However, as the world returns to normal, maintaining this momentum requires a strategic approach. The Importance of a Blog as a Home Base While social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are essential for showcasing personality and connecting with your audiences, Kimberly emphasizes the importance of having a blog as a home base. A blog provides a stable platform for your content, unaffected by the ever-changing algorithms of social media. Show Notes: MiloTree The 3 AI Prompts You Need to Create a Freebie Cheatsheet Join The Blogger Genius Newsletter The Little Plantation Eat Capture Share Podcast How to Make Your Food Famous Personality Quiz: What Digital Product Should I Create? Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify The Role of AI in Content Creation AI as a Tool, Not a Replacement Both Kimberly and I discuss the impact of AI on content creation. Tools like ChatGPT can generate recipes and content quickly, but they lack the personal touch that makes your blog unique. Kimberly stresses that while AI can provide information, it cannot replicate the unique voice and personality of a content creator. This personal touch is essential for building a loyal audience. Building Connections Through Personal Branding Injecting Personality into Content Kimberly suggests that bloggers need to inject more of their personality into their content to stand out. This can be achieved through various formats on Instagram, such as reels and stories, where creators can share personal anecdotes and behind-the-scenes glimpses of their lives. Overcoming Introversion One common concern among content creators: the discomfort of being on camera, especially for introverts. Kimberly acknowledges that while it can be challenging, showing one's face and personality can significantly enhance engagement. She encourages introverts to start small, perhaps by using voiceovers or sharing behind-the-scenes content, to gradually build their comfort level. The Importance of Authenticity Testing Different Content Formats Kimberly shares her experience of testing different content formats on Instagram. She found that posts featuring her face or personal stories garnered significantly more engagement than text-based posts. This reinforces the idea that audiences crave genuine connections with creators. The Future of Food Photography Kimberly addresses the rise of AI-generated images in food photography. While some may see this as a threat, she believes there will always be a demand for authentic, human-created content. Clients often prefer working with photographers who bring a unique perspective and personal touch to their work. Actionable Strategies for Instagram Success Creating Engaging Reels Kimberly emphasizes the importance of creating reels, as they are currently the most effective way to reach new audiences. Reels allow you to showcase your personality and creativity in a short, engaging format. Sharing Personal Stories Sharing personal stories and experiences fosters a sense of community and connection. Kimberly suggests using Instagram stories to share behind-the-scenes content, personal anecdotes, and day-in-the-life posts. Analyzing Performance Metrics Kimberly emphasizes the importance of reviewing your analytics to understand what content resonates with your audience. For instance, while carousel posts may receive more likes, reels often lead to greater follower growth. By analyzing performance, you can identify trends and replicate successful content strategies. Engagement Strategies To drive engagement and move followers off Instagram to your website or email list, Kimberly recommends using prompts in stories and captions. Instead of direct links, she suggests asking followers to DM for links or use specific keywords, which can increase engagement and visibility. Sustainable Posting Practices Consistency is crucial, but it should not come at the expense of your well-being. Kimberly advises finding a posting rhythm that feels sustainable and enjoyable. Ideally, posting three times a week can be effective, but it's essential to adjust based on your personal circumstances and mental health. Utilizing Different Instagram Features Each part of Instagram serves a different purpose. The grid is for outward-facing content, stories are for building intimacy, and DMs are for deeper connections. Kimberly suggests creating unique content for each feature rather than simply resharing reels, as this can lead to lower engagement. Building Your Email List Offering Freebies and Running Challenges Kimberly shares her strategies for growing her email list, including offering freebies and running challenges. These initiatives not only provide value to her audience but also encourage sign-ups for her newsletter. Adapting to Change Flexibility and Openness The digital landscape is constantly evolving, and Kimberly stresses the importance of being flexible and open to change. Regularly reviewing analytics and being willing to adjust your strategy is key to long-term success. Finding Joy in Content Creation Embracing the Journey While Kimberly acknowledges the challenges of content creation, she encourages embracing the opportunity to express oneself and connect with others. The emotional rollercoaster of blogging is part of the journey, and finding joy in the process is essential. Conclusion Personal branding and authenticity in the evolving landscape of food blogging have become paramount. As AI continues to change the way content is created and consumed, bloggers who embrace their unique voices and connect with their audiences on a personal level will thrive. By following Kimberly's actionable tips and strategies, you can enhance your Instagram presence, build deeper connections with your audience, and achieve greater success in your blogging endeavors. The Importance of Black Friday Sales Black Friday is a prime time for bloggers and online entrepreneurs to test their digital products. Consumers are already in a "spending" mindset, making it the perfect moment to introduce your offerings, whether it's your first digital product or your hundredth. This is an opportunity not to be missed, even if you are just experimenting with an idea. With MiloTree, you can create an AI-generated sales page in just two minutes, making the process incredibly efficient. Plus, we offer 30-days free so you don't have to pay a dime! The Shift in Blogging There has been a significant shift in the blogging landscape. Traditionally, blogging operated on a one-to-many model, where content was created for anonymous users and monetized through ads and affiliate marketing. However, the trend is moving towards a one-to-few model. This means that you only need a thousand true fans who are willing to spend $100 a year on your products or services to generate a substantial income of $100,000. I believe this is one of the best times to be a blogger and to start selling what you know. The playing field has been leveled, and those who are willing to experiment and try new things will find success. Setting Up Your Sale Here is my step-by-step approach to setting up your Black Friday sale: Brainstorm Your Product Use the AI prompt from my Black Friday guide to come up with product ideas that resonate with your audience. Think about what problems you can solve or what value you can add to their lives. Choose Your Product I recommend selling simple digital downloads, such as: Checklists Guides Ebooks Digital art Printables Alternatively, you could offer online coaching sessions in your area of expertise. For coaching, you can use a free Calendly account for scheduling and Zoom for hosting. Create Your MiloTree Account With a free 30-day trial, you can set up your account without any financial risk. Connect it to Stripe for payment processing, add your product details, and watch as MiloTree generates your sales page with AI. Promote Your Sale Share your sales page across social media, your blog, and especially through email. Email is the most effective way to sell so I've provided seven customizable email templates in my guide to help you reach your audience effectively. Overcoming Challenges Many listeners may feel disillusioned due to their drop in traffic and income. But you don't need a massive audience to make sales; you just need to connect with those who already trust you. Perfection is not necessary; what matters is providing something valuable and actionable. Crafting an Irresistible Offer To make your offer enticing, consider creating a sense of urgency. Since it's Black Friday, you could offer: Discounts Limited-time bonuses Exclusive add-ons for early buyers MiloTree allows for coupon codes and upsells, making it easy to enhance your sales strategy. The Future of Selling Digital Products Selling digital products is a powerful way to pivot your business and build a reliable income stream. However, it requires testing and experimentation. You may have ideas about what people will buy, but the only way to know for sure is to try. Get your offers in front of potential buyers during Black Friday, as this is a time when people are ready to spend. As we look towards 2025, owning your products and services will become increasingly important. The digital landscape is changing, and while you can't control traffic fluctuations or social media algorithms, you can control what you sell. Key Takeaways for a Successful Black Friday Sale Set a clear, realistic sales goal to measure your success. Choose a product or service that is easy to set up and valuable to your audience. Create your offer simply and make it appealing with discounts or bonuses. Don't overthink the process; just start. Leverage urgency and fear of missing out (FOMO) to encourage purchases. Promote your sale everywhere, especially through your email list, social media, and communities where your ideal customers hang out. Conclusion I encourage you to take action by downloading my Black Friday guide and starting your free trial of MiloTree. This Black Friday could be the most profitable one yet and I'm rooting for everyone to succeed. If you have questions, you can reach out to her directly via email. In my newest episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I welcome back Tammy Overhoff, food blogger turned digital product entrepreneur at Reset and Flourish. This episode is the third installment in our series (listen to the first and second episodes here) where Tammy shares her journey and insights into leveraging Facebook ads to enhance her sales funnel for digital products. If you're looking to dive deep into the nuances of using Facebook ads effectively, this episode is a goldmine of actionable advice and expert strategies. Understanding Facebook Ads: A Continuous Process Tammy emphasizes that running Facebook ads is not a "set it and forget it" endeavor. Many people mistakenly believe that once they set up their ads, they will automatically generate sales without further intervention. In reality, successful ad campaigns require ongoing monitoring and adjustments. I liken the process to gambling in Las Vegas, where one must be vigilant and ready to make changes based on performance. She looks for patterns in sales, noting which times of day and days of the week yield the best results. For instance, she has observed that Sundays may not be the most profitable days for her ads. If she doesn't see a return on her ad spend by a certain time, she is quick to reassess and potentially turn off underperforming ads. Freebies to Tripwire Strategy: Building a Sales Funnel One of Tammy's key strategies is using freebies to lead into tripwire offers. This approach allows her to build her email list while also generating sales. She finds that this method is less risky compared to direct sales offers, as it helps her capture leads and nurture them through her sales funnel. Tammy encourages those new to Facebook ads to consider starting with a freebie to tripwire strategy, as it has proven effective for her. Building a Solid Foundation Tammy and I discuss the importance of having a solid foundation before diving into Facebook ads. Tammy likens ads to gasoline on a fire; if there's no fire (i.e., a solid product or funnel), pouring money into ads can lead to significant losses. Therefore, it's crucial to have a well-structured funnel and a clear understanding of the audience before investing in ads. The Importance of Email Lists Once potential customers are on Tammy's email list, she can engage them through launches, flash sales, and other marketing strategies. Her email list becomes a valuable asset, allowing her to maintain a relationship with her audience and drive future sales. Continuous Learning and Testing Tammy emphasizes that mastering Facebook ads is a journey that requires time and experimentation. She has spent two years refining her approach, testing various offers, and tweaking her sales pages and email funnels. This ongoing process of learning and adapting is essential for success in digital marketing. Creating Engaging Content I highlight the importance of creating compelling content for ads. I suggest that new entrepreneurs start small, perhaps by developing a freebie that addresses a specific problem for their audience. This initial step can lead to greater insights and help in building a more comprehensive sales funnel. Connecting Products and Freebies Tammy advises that when creating freebies, it's important to pay attention to the audience's response. If a freebie is well-received, it can provide valuable insights into what the audience is interested in, guiding the development of future products. Balancing Organic and Paid Strategies Both Tammy and I agree on the importance of having a balanced approach that includes both organic and paid strategies. This balance provides more control over your business and helps mitigate the uncertainties of relying solely on algorithms or organic reach. Encouragement for New Entrepreneurs I wrap up the episode by encouraging listeners to take the plunge into setting up your digital product sales funnel, emphasizing that while the process may be challenging, it is entirely doable. With persistence and the right strategies, entrepreneurs can achieve significant success. Conclusion Tammy's journey illustrates that while the path to mastering Facebook ads and building a successful sales funnel may be filled with challenges, it is also rewarding. By focusing on building a solid foundation, continuously learning, and strategically using ads, entrepreneurs can effectively grow their businesses. For those interested in starting their journey, I offer resources and support to help you get started. This episode is for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of Facebook ads and digital marketing, Tammy provides actionable insights and encouragement to take the next steps in your entrepreneurial journey. In my recent episode of the Blogger Genius Podcast, I had a conversation with Devin Schubert, a business coach specializing in leadership, team building, and innovation through a Christian lens. The episode dives deep into the strategic use of Facebook for building relationships and growing a business. Here, we break down the key takeaways and actionable advice shared during the episode. Optimizing Social Media Profiles Key Points: Profile Optimization: Devin emphasizes the importance of a well-optimized social media profile. This includes a clear and compelling bio, a professional profile picture, and a banner that communicates your brand's message. Pinned Posts: Utilize pinned posts on Facebook to highlight your story and the value you offer. A strong hook at the beginning of your pinned post can capture attention and encourage engagement. Actionable Tips: Bio and Banner: Ensure your bio succinctly describes who you are and what you do. Your banner should visually represent your brand and include a call to action or a tagline. Pinned Post Strategy: Craft a pinned post that introduces you, shares your mission, and invites followers to engage with your content. Use a compelling hook to draw readers in. People are unlikely to make a purchase or schedule a call if they don't know you yet. Engagement Over Sales: Focus on providing value through your posts to build trust and rapport with your audience. Actionable Tips: Content Strategy: Share valuable insights, tips, and personal stories that resonate with your audience. Avoid pushing sales too early in the relationship. Engagement Tactics: Respond to comments, ask questions, and engage in conversations to build a community around your brand. The Role of Facebook Groups Key Points: Community Building: Despite claims that Facebook groups are declining, Devin argues they remain a powerful tool for fostering community and engagement. Private Groups for Memberships: Use private Facebook groups for memberships to create a familiar and accessible space for your audience. Actionable Tips: Group Engagement: Ask engaging questions during the sign-up process to capture emails and nurture relationships. Tag new members in welcome posts and provide valuable content through videos and training sessions. Content Sharing: Regularly share resources, host live sessions, and encourage member participation to keep the group active and engaged. Engagement Strategies Key Points: Simple Communication: Devin highlights the importance of simplicity in communication and calls to action. Straightforward prompts encourage more responses and engagement. Creative Posts: Use creative and fun posts to spark conversation and engagement. Actionable Tips: Engaging Questions: Ask simple, intuitive questions that invite participation. For example, "What time do you see this post?" can generate comments and boost visibility. Fun Interactions: Create playful posts that encourage debate or sharing, such as asking whether a cup is half full or half empty. Long-Term Mindset Key Points: Patience and Consistency: Devin and I stress the importance of a long-term mindset. Building relationships and nurturing trust takes time. Avoiding Discouragement: Don't get discouraged by low engagement on business-related posts. Visibility is key, and silent observers may still be considering your content. Actionable Tips: Consistent Posting: Maintain a regular posting schedule to stay top-of-mind with your audience. Focus on Relationships: Prioritize building authentic connections over immediate sales. Trust and rapport will lead to long-term success. Email as a Central Tool Key Points: Email Marketing: While social media is great for attracting followers, building an email list is essential for nurturing relationships and maintaining control over communication. Call to Action Philosophy Key Points: Value Posts: Devin prefers to avoid calls to action in value posts, allowing the content to resonate without pressure. Strategic CTAs: Use calls to action in other types of posts to encourage engagement and interaction. Actionable Tips: Subtle CTAs: In value posts, include subtle calls to action, such as inviting comments or shares, rather than direct sales pitches. Engagement CTAs: Use clear and direct calls to action in posts designed to drive engagement, such as asking followers to join a group or sign up for a webinar. Building Trust Key Points: Engagement: Responding to comments and engaging in conversations builds trust and deepens relationships. Voice Messages: Devin finds voice messages more effective for building genuine relationships than text alone. Actionable Tips: Active Engagement: Make it a habit to respond to every comment and message. Show appreciation for your audience's participation. Understanding Sales Funnels A sales funnel is a step-by-step process that guides potential customers from initial awareness of your and your product to the final purchase. The goal is to create a seamless journey that addresses the specific needs and pain points of your audience, ultimately leading them to make a purchase. Key Components of a Sales Funnel Awareness: Attracting potential customers through content marketing, social media, and other channels. She uses a five-day challenge as the entry point into her sales funnel. This challenge introduces participants to the concept of meal prep and its benefits for weight loss. Actionable Steps: Create a Free Challenge: Design a short, free challenge that addresses a specific problem your audience faces. For example, a five-day meal prep challenge for busy moms. Promote the Challenge: Use social media, email marketing, and your blog to promote the challenge and attract participants. Engage Participants: Provide valuable content and support throughout the challenge to keep participants engaged. Strategic Email Writing Tammy highlights the importance of crafting strategic emails that guide your audience through the sales funnel. She starts by mapping out the customer journey and considering what her audience needs to hear to take the next step. Actionable Steps: Map Out the Customer Journey: Use pen and paper to outline the steps your audience will take from initial engagement to purchase. Craft Engaging Emails: Write emails that are caring and supportive, focusing on leading your audience rather than pushing for sales. Incorporate Testimonials and Videos: Use testimonials and video content to enhance engagement and build trust. Review Email Statistics: Regularly review your email statistics to refine your strategy and improve performance. Frontloading Sales Funnel Work Creating email sequences requires upfront effort, but once the majority of the work is done, the system becomes automated. This allows you to focus on driving traffic into your funnel and monitoring audience reactions. Actionable Steps: Create Email Sequences: Develop a series of emails that guide your audience through the sales funnel. Automate the Process: Use email marketing tools to automate the delivery of your email sequences. Monitor and Adjust: Continuously monitor audience reactions and make necessary adjustments to improve performance. Advice for New Entrepreneurs Tammy offers three key steps for new entrepreneurs looking to create effective sales funnels: Analyze Audience Engagement: Look at email statistics to understand what content resonates with your audience. Identify Specific Pain Points: Dig deeper into the challenges your audience faces and create products that address these pain points. Generate Product Ideas: Use tools like ChatGPT to brainstorm product ideas that solve your audience's problems. Actionable Steps: Review Email Statistics: Analyze your email open rates, click-through rates, and other metrics to identify what content resonates with your audience. Conduct Audience Research: Use surveys, social media polls, and direct feedback to understand your audience's specific pain points. Brainstorm Product Ideas: Use AI tools and brainstorming sessions to generate product ideas that address your audience's needs. Creating an Opt-In An enticing opt-in is crucial for attracting potential customers. Tammy suggests creating a quick guide or a list of meal starters that help busy moms get dinner on the table quickly. Actionable Steps: Identify a Specific Problem: Focus on a specific problem your audience faces and create an opt-in that provides a solution. Create Valuable Content: Develop a quick guide, checklist, or e-book that offers immediate value to your audience. Promote Your Opt-In: Use your blog, social media, and email marketing to promote your opt-in and attract sign-ups. Upselling and Bundling Once the initial product is established, consider upselling or bundling additional products to provide comprehensive solutions to your audience's problems. Actionable Steps: Develop Complementary Products: Create additional products that complement your initial offering, such as workshops, e-books, or meal plans. Create Bundles: Package your products together to offer more value and increase the average order value. Promote Upsells: Use email marketing and sales pages to promote your upsells and bundles. Avoiding Overcomplication Tammy and I stress the importance of simplicity in the product creation process. New entrepreneurs should focus on smaller, manageable products that can be validated through audience feedback. Actionable Steps: Start Small: Begin with smaller products, such as e-books or workshops, that can be created quickly and easily. Validate Your Ideas: Use audience feedback to validate your product ideas before investing time and resources into larger projects. Iterate and Improve: Continuously improve your products based on customer feedback and market trends. Understanding Your Audience Knowing your audience is crucial when selling digital products. Tammy has found success with e-books and bundles, but emphasizes the need to nurture the audience over time. Actionable Steps: Build Relationships: Use email marketing, social media, and content marketing to build relationships with your audience. Provide Value: Continuously provide valuable content that addresses your audience's needs and pain points. Nurture Leads: Use nurturing email sequences to build trust and guide your audience through the sales funnel. Pricing Strategy Tammy discusses her pricing strategy, noting that digital products can be priced effectively to ensure profitability. For example, her ultimate bundle is priced at $89, with sales often bringing it down to $57. Actionable Steps: Research Competitors: Analyze the pricing strategies of your competitors to understand market trends. Test Pricing: Experiment with different pricing strategies to find the optimal price point for your products. Offer Discounts: Use sales and discounts to attract customers and increase conversions. Continuous Learning and Adaptation Building a sales funnel is an ongoing process. Once the initial setup is complete, entrepreneurs can learn from audience interactions and make necessary adjustments. Actionable Steps: Monitor Performance: Continuously monitor the performance of your sales funnel and make data-driven decisions. Learn from Feedback: Use customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments. Stay Updated: Keep up with industry trends and best practices to stay ahead of the competition. Conclusion This episode of the Blogger Genius Podcast provides valuable insights into the world of sales funnels for digital products. By focusing on audience needs, simplifying the product creation process, and continuously learning from customer interactions, entrepreneurs can build effective sales funnels that drive engagement and sales. Today I'm rebroadcasting one of my most popular episodes from 2024 where I interview Pinterest marketing expert, Kayla Watkins, on how bloggers can amplify their organic traffic and monetize their content through Pinterest. The Ever-Evolving World of Pinterest In the digital age, staying ahead of the curve is crucial, and for niche bloggers, the recent Google updates have been a game-changer. As someone who's passionate about helping fellow bloggers diversify their income streams, I've seen many turn to selling digital products as a viable option. In fact, I offer a free 20-minute digital product strategy call to help develop a digital product strategy and share best practices for monetization success. During my chat with Kayla, we explore the current trends in Pinterest marketing and how to make the most of this visual platform. Kayla's expertise in crafting effective Pinterest strategies to increase pageviews is invaluable, especially for bloggers in the food, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle categories. Kayla emphasizes the importance of finding the right keywords so you can create fresh pins to pin to your relevant boards, and updating existing blog content to stay relevant and maximize engagement. She also shares her approach to content scheduling and distribution, recommending tools like Tailwind to schedule pins and Canva for designing eye-catching Pinterest pins. Kayla's advice on pin design, Pinterest boards, pin titles and descriptions is clear: keep them concise, informative, and keyword-rich to resonate with Pinterest users. The Long Game: Building Sustainable Traffic from Pinterest One of the most striking points Kayla makes is the long-term nature of Pinterest traffic. Unlike the instant gratification of platforms like Instagram, Pinterest rewards patience and persistence. It's about trial and error, refining strategies over time, and understanding that significant results may take months to materialize. Kayla also touched on the future of Pinterest, predicting a continued focus on e-commerce. She encourages businesses to align their strategies with user behavior on the platform and to consider Pinterest ads to amplify viral content and evergreen posts. Leveraging Pinterest for Long-Term Stability Pinterest stands out as a social media platform that drives traffic to blogs or websites, offering a level of stability and control that's hard to find elsewhere. Kayla contrasted this with the fleeting nature of success on other social media platforms, highlighting Pinterest's role as a reliable partner in a business's long-term strategy as long as you understand the Pinterest algorithm. Repurposing Blog Content for Maximum Impact and Pageviews During our conversation, Kayla shares a personal success story about repurposing her Instagram content on Threads, the new social media platform by Instagram. By translating her most saved Instagram posts to fit the Threads format, she's seen a significant increase in engagement and email subscribers. This strategy has proven to be a game-changer, allowing her to insert her expertise into relevant conversations and grow her community. Key Takeaways and Next Steps My biggest takeaway from this enlightening discussion is the importance of a comprehensive Pinterest marketing strategy. It's essential to have a defined blog niche, solve problems for your audience, and incorporate relevant keywords into your content. Remember, Pinterest is a marathon, not a sprint, and it rewards those who are consistent and strategic in their content creation. If you're looking to diversify your income and drive traffic to your blog, consider leveraging tools like MiloTreeCart to sell digital products and create sales pages with ease. It's an excellent way to start monetizing your content and expanding your revenue streams. I hope you've found this blog post informative and inspiring. Today I'm diving deep into one of my favorite strategies for growing your email list: leveraging the power of freebies. But before we get into that, I want to touch on a crucial aspect of your business strategy—diversifying your income streams. If you're still relying solely on traditional methods like ads and affiliate links, you might be putting your business at risk. This is where MiloTreeCart shines, allowing you to sell unlimited memberships, digital downloads, workshops, coaching, and mini-courses swiftly and seamlessly. We've even upgraded to AI-driven sales pages to make the process faster than ever! Why Email Lists are More Crucial Than Ever In the current online landscape, where social media algorithms are a moving target, owning your blog and email list provides a stable, reliable platform for business growth. I can't stress this enough: your email list is where the money is. The larger your list, the more potential customers you have for your digital products. Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify The Power of Freebies What's the fastest way to grow this valuable list? Offer something of value for free in exchange for an email address. But it's not enough to just offer anything; your freebie needs to be like a Hershey's Kiss—small, desirable, and immediately satisfying. Imagine you're at a manicure salon, and right by the cash register, there's a bowl of Hershey's Kisses. You're likely to grab one and enjoy it right there, rather than saving it for later—because you can't just put a Hershey's Kiss in your pocket; it will melt! This is the essence of a great freebie. It should be something your audience can consume instantly and leave them wanting more. It's about immediate gratification. The Ideal Freebie Your freebie should be: Immediately consumable: It should be something that can be accessed and used as soon as it's downloaded, viewed right on the phone or computer. Satisfying yet simple: Not a ten-page ebook, but something that provides a quick "sugar rush" of value—solve a problem, answer a question, or satiate a curiosity. Engaging and desirable: It should make the new subscriber crave more interaction and content from you. Types of Effective Freebies Through numerous discussions with you, my audience, we've seen that the most engaging freebies aren't necessarily the most complex. They are: Guides and cheat sheets: Short, sweet, and to the point. Interactive content like quizzes: Especially those that offer personal insights or fun revelations. Done-for-you resources: Templates or printables, like those we offer on Catch My Party, provide immediate utility. Using AI to Generate Ideas One tool I find incredibly useful in generating freebie ideas is ChatGPT. You can prompt it to brainstorm freebie ideas that fit within specific categories, like saving time, making money, or raising social status. These are triggers that motivate people to opt into your list. Chat GPT Prompt: "Generate a list of freebie ideas for [insert niche] that fits into one of these categories: Make somebody money. Save somebody money. Save someone time. Move someone toward happiness. Move someone away from pain. Raises their social status." Introducing MiloTreeLeads And speaking of making things easier, I'm thrilled to introduce MiloTreeLeads, a new addition to our product suite. This tool allows you to effortlessly create and distribute unlimited freebies. It integrates with major email service providers, simplifying how you collect and manage your leads. It's designed to help you set up a freebie in less than five minutes, so you can start growing your list right away. Final Thoughts Remember, your freebie is often the first impression you make on a potential subscriber. Make it count. It's the first step in a relationship that can climb the ladder from a simple free download to purchasing high-value products or services. For those eager to try out MiloTreeLeads and take advantage of our special launch pricing, head over to MiloTree.com/leadsbeta. This is an exciting step forward for anyone looking to expand their digital footprint and monetize more effectively. Before I wrap up, if you have a freebie that's working wonders, or if you're seeing success in a particular area, I'd love to hear about it! Lily emphasizes the importance of understanding that these cycles of updates are not new and that recovery from such hits can take time. The Plight of Niche Bloggers The impact of Google's updates on niche bloggers can be devastating, as seen with a Trader Joe's enthusiast who lost significant traffic overnight. As the host of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I've had the unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of building an online business. It's a journey filled with excitement and potential, but it's not without its challenges. One of the most significant hurdles I've faced, and I know many of you can relate to, is managing stress and maintaining a healthy mindset amidst the chaos of entrepreneurship. This is why I'm sharing my top 10 stress relief secrets, which I hope you find helpful in your own life. Show Notes: Book Your FREE 20-Minute Strategy Call MiloTreeCart: Digital Product Sales Software MiloTreeCart Affiliate Program MiloTree Pop-Up App Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify The Reality of Online Business and Blogger Stress In the digital world, stress levels are at an all-time high. We're all constantly grappling with Google algorithm updates, the pressure of competing with AI-generated content, and the overall uncertainties of the digital landscape. It's a lot to handle, and I've felt the weight of it myself. But through my experiences, I've developed these ten habits that have been my anchor in the stormy seas of online business and that's why I recorded this solo episode. Here are my 10 tips to relieve stress as an online entrepreneur and blogger... Tip 1: Setting Boundaries for Work-Life Balance The first habit I can't emphasize enough is setting clear boundaries between work and personal time. Working from home blurs these lines, and without strict boundaries, burnout is inevitable. I've found that having specific work hours not only boosts my focus but also keeps my motivation levels high. It's about quality, not quantity. Tip 2: Prioritizing Tasks with the Eisenhower Box Next up is prioritizing tasks. The Eisenhower Box has been a game-changer for me. It's a simple yet effective method to differentiate between what's urgent and what's important. This approach has allowed me to concentrate on tasks that truly move the needle for my business, keeping the overwhelming to-do list at bay. Tip 3: Embracing Simple Tech Tools for Productivity In the realm of productivity, I'm all for using simple tech tools. The Pomodoro Technique, paired with straightforward tools like tomato-timer.com, has revolutionized my workflow. I also love Google Docs and Google Sheets even thought they're ugly! It's about finding tools that are easy to use, like MiloTreeCart, that get the job done so you will want to return to over and over again. Tip 4: The Power of Connections Another habit I hold dear is maintaining connections. Whether it's with family, friends, or business peers, nurturing relationships is vital. It's easy to feel isolated in this line of work, so building a network within your niche and leveraging the power of networking is crucial for support and growth. Tip 5: The Importance of Continual Learning I dedicate time each day to continual learning. Staying informed about online business trends and emerging technologies is non-negotiable. It's how I empower myself to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing digital environment. Tip 6: Mindfulness and Gratitude Mindfulness practices, such as expressing gratitude is central to my stress management strategy. Reflecting on blessings are not just good for my soul; they're essential for my mental clarity and well-being. Before I go to bed. Each night, I make a list in my head of all the things I'm grateful for, and it puts everything in perspective for me. Taking this time to slow down and reflect, focusing on gratitude and how far I've come and all the blessings in my life does wonders for me, so I recommend you try that as well. Tip 7: Get Moving If you're not regularly moving your body, I recommend you start. It doesn't have to be intense, but what a difference it's made in my own life, especially for me who spends a lot of hours sitting in front of my computer. It gives me energy, boosts my mood, and gets me out of my head. If you hate exercise, just try walking outside. It honestly does wonders. Tip 7: Embracing Imperfection and Setting Realistic Goals I've learned to embrace imperfection and set realistic goals. Aiming for "B minus" work and celebrating small victories helps maintain a healthy perspective on achievement. It's about progress, not perfection. And those times when I can't reach my goals I try really hard to give myself grace. I don't always achieve it, but I have realized that punishing myself doesn't help and that if I can be gentle, it's amazing how much faster I can pick myself up and try again. Tip 9: The Value of Feedback Seeking feedback from trusted sources is invaluable. It offers fresh perspectives and insights that are crucial for refining business strategies and personal growth. And as you know, I offer free 20 minute calls with bloggers and online entrepreneurs who want to start selling digital products. People tell me they get so much out of these calls because I'm unbiased. I have distance, I am fresh eyes. So, you want people close to you who can see those opportunities. If you're feeling stuck and you're ready to explore digital products. Definitely book a 20 minute call with me. Tip 10: Prioritizing Mental Well-Being I try not to sweat the small stuff. It's incredibly easy to get caught up in those minor setbacks. So what I have found is that when I fixate on these small details, I can't focus on the important goals. So I try to recognize what small in the grand scheme of things like these are the things that when I look back in a year, I won't even remember. I also try to practice letting go. I also keep my eye on the prize, which are the big goals. I think about what the tasks are that can have a real impact on my growth and my success, and I point my north star that way. Sometimes it's just remembering that with a little bit of time, the pain will dull and it will pass. Keeping perspective is key to staying in the game, even when it feels tough. Conclusion In closing, I urge my fellow entrepreneurs to prioritize mental well-being. The tips and habits I've shared are more than just strategies; they're a testament to the resilience and determination needed to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape. Remember to give yourself grace and seek support when needed. By sharing my journey, I hope to empower you to face the challenges of online business with confidence and a healthy mindset. We're in this together, and with the right habits and mindset, we can not only survive but thrive in the world of online entrepreneurship. In today's episode, I sat down with Brooke Riley, the creative force behind the DIY blog Re-Fabbed, and the founder of Re-Fabbed Boutique, to delve into her entrepreneurial journey and the lessons she's learned along the way. The Power of Social Media and Personal Connection One of the pivotal moments in Brooke's journey was her decision to leverage Facebook live video content to connect with her audience. This strategic move allowed her to foster strong relationships with her followers, which translated into increased engagement and growth for her blog. It's a testament to the importance of authenticity and energy in every interaction, a principle that Brooke holds dear. This unexpected demand led her to explore the world of e-commerce with Re-Fab Boutique. Starting with dropshipping, Brooke faced the challenges of long shipping times and logistical hurdles, but her transparency and authenticity won over her audience, leading to impressive sales. Embracing Imperfection and Taking Risks Throughout our conversation, Brooke emphasizes the importance of embracing imperfection and the willingness to take calculated risks. She shares her transition from dropshipping to managing inventory and the mindset shift required to start small and scale based on customer feedback and demand. Overcoming the Fear of Imperfection A common struggle for many aspiring entrepreneurs, especially women, is the fear of imperfection. Brooke and I discuss the need to overcome this fear and the power of taking action, even when things seem messy or unconventional. Brooke's approach to launching her coaching group and various businesses without waiting for the perfect timing is a powerful example of this principle in action. The Joy of Serving and Connecting with Your Audience Brooke also highlights the significance of serving and connecting with your audience. She urges entrepreneurs to personalize their approach, understand their community, and find joy in serving others. This, she believes, is the foundation for building authentic relationships and successful businesses. Consistency, Authenticity, and Adaptability Our discussion also touched on the challenges of maintaining consistency and the pressure to see immediate results. Brooke acknowledges the struggles but encourages entrepreneurs to stay committed to showing up consistently and focusing on the long-term impact of their efforts. The Unpredictability of Online Traction Brooke shares her experience of a two-year-old post suddenly going viral, reminding us of the unpredictable nature of online traction. She advises treating each viewer or customer as the most important person, as this can lead to exponential growth over time. The Entrepreneurial Journey: A Parallel to Motherhood Drawing a parallel between the challenges of building a business and the early stages of motherhood, I emphasize the need to prepare for difficulties, seek feedback, and be open to making adjustments. Both Brooke and I stress the importance of consistency and the willingness to adapt and pivot when necessary. Seeking Feedback and Building Relationships Brooke discusses the need for self-assessment and the willingness to change strategies if the current approach is not yielding results. We both underscore the value of seeking feedback, being open to constructive criticism, and building relationships within the business community. Embracing Challenges and Uncertainties In closing, I encourage entrepreneurs to embrace the challenges and uncertainties of business. Through MiloTreeCart, I offer support and guidance, emphasizing the normalcy of feeling uncertain and the potential for growth through experimentation and learning from others. An Invitation to Connect I invite you to connect with me for further assistance and reassurance on your entrepreneurial journey. Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes YouTube Spotify Building Authentic Connections on Social Media One of the key takeaways from our conversation is the importance of building real connections and relationships on social media. Lauren points out that social media success isn't just about going viral; it's about fostering a community and creating authentic connections with your followers. She emphasizes the marketing principles of repetition and the balance of giving versus taking, highlighting the need for consistent content and the importance of providing value to your audience. A Success Story: The Power of a Dedicated Audience Lauren shares an inspiring success story of a client who, instead of aiming for a vast audience, focused on a smaller group of engaged followers. This targeted approach led to a successful product launch, underscoring the power of relationship-building and engagement with a dedicated audience. Managing Social Media Stress We also touch on the potential stress and mental health impact of social media. It's common to feel overwhelmed, but Lauren reassures us that it's possible to approach social media in a manageable way. She advised starting with small, consistent efforts rather than succumbing to the pressure of doing too much at once. The Art of Engagement: Quality Over Quantity Lauren and I explore the nuances of engagement on social media, noting that it varies based on individual goals and content. She stresses that engagement is crucial, regardless of how often you post. For some, daily posting is necessary, while for others, like mom bloggers, one post a week with daily follower interaction can be enough. Three-Phase Engagement Strategy Here is Lauren's social media strategy: Review your profile to ensure it resonates with your ideal audience. Respond to comments and new followers to foster a sense of community. Reach out to ideal followers to build authentic connections. She encouraged responding to those who regularly engage with your content, even if it's just to express gratitude for their support. Embracing the Personal Touch We discussed the personal nature of engagement, with Lauren urging me to connect with those who consistently interact with my content. Authenticity is key, and making genuine connections can be as simple as acknowledging someone you regularly see on the street. The Human Connection in a Digital Age Lauren highlights the irreplaceable value of the human connection and personal touch in an age where AI and automation are on the rise. Creating a warm and welcoming environment for followers is essential. From my own experience, I've seen the shift towards meaningful connections with followers. Authenticity and transparency in messaging are crucial for providing genuine and valuable content to your audience. The Significance of Real Connections As our conversation wraps up, both Lauren and I emphasize the importance of building real connections and relationships on social media, rather than focusing solely on metrics and numbers. The impact of genuine engagement and the value of showing up authentically cannot be overstated when it comes to creating a loyal and supportive community. Exploring Social Media Platforms: Facebook's Resurgence and Instagram's New Features We also discuss the resurgence of Facebook and Instagram's new community feature as potential tools for building community. While Facebook remains a staple for live events and group conversations, Instagram's Threads feature and the new community option offer additional touch-points for engaging with followers. TikTok vs. Instagram Reels The differences between TikTok and Instagram Reels were also a topic of discussion. Lauren explains that TikTok caters to shorter attention spans and a younger audience, making it a valuable platform for those targeting users under 30. Conclusion Our insightful conversation sheds light on the evolving landscape of social media and its implications for online entrepreneurs and bloggers. The key is to focus on authentic engagement and leverage the platforms that best suit your audience and goals. Remember, it's not just about the numbers; it's about the relationships you build and the community you foster. So, let's continue to navigate this digit

Pinterest has evolved from a simple visual search engine to a complex platform with various features like videos, story pins (now idea pins), and a focus on e-commerce. Despite these changes, my own experience with Catch My Party has taught me that sometimes, sticking to the basics, like static pins and keyword optimization, can still yield the best results. Missy echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of testing and finding what works best for your unique account. The Evolution of Monetizing Knowledge Let's talk about something crucial for all content creators and bloggers: monetization. Have you ever considered selling your knowledge and expertise directly to your audience? If you're still relying solely on ads and affiliate links, it's time to rethink your strategy. In this rebroadcast episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren Litt, a social media coach. Lauren helps people overcome their social media anxiety and achieve real results. Lauren shares valuable insights on why some people don't like Instagram and how to overcome these concerns. She suggests getting more educated about the platform and implementing grounding habits to protect oneself from the dopamine rush. She also emphasized that follower count doesn't determine business success and that focusing on real conversations and connecting with your desired audience is key. The Importance of Being Authentic on Social Media As the host, I add that if you want to grow a business, you need to be where your audience is, even if you don't personally like the platform. I compare it to niche blogging, where some may feel confined but need to focus on a specific niche to make money. Lauren agreed, stating that running a business often involves doing things you don't want to do. She reveal that she herself doesn't like social media due to past negative experiences but helps people who feel the same way because she believes they have important messages to share. She believes that people want to work with authentic individuals who show up as themselves. She also acknowledges that while there is a wealth of information available online, the value of paying for a course or coaching lies in the personal connection and trust that is established with the instructor. Tailored Approaches to Social Media When it comes to social media content, Lauren suggests focusing on the main feed, using carousels, going live, and sharing behind-the-scenes moments in stories. She explains that while reels can help grow followers, they are not as effective in driving clicks and conversions. Building Connections and Community on Social Media Lauren and I also discussed the importance of building connections and community on social media. She emphasizes that social media platforms are primarily meant for deeper engagement and relationship-building with the audience. While sales can happen on Instagram, she highlighted the value of having a newsletter list to further nurture and convert leads. Using Social Media to Drive Sales Lauren shares her own experience of working with clients who were not equipped to effectively capture leads and convert them into sales. This led her to expand her company and focus on online marketing strategies that move people from social media platforms to email newsletters, where the real profit can be generated. The Power of Engagement Lauren also provided a three-step process for daily engagement on social media: review, respond, and reach out. She encourages entrepreneurs to take just five minutes a day to review their social media accounts, respond to comments and likes, and reach out to new circles of potential customers. Taking Action and Making Personal Connections I admire Lauren for her practical strategies for selling digital products. I believe in the importance of taking action, even if you don't have an existing audience. Hello everyone, I'm your host, Jillian, and today I interviewing copywriter, Samantha Burmeister. MiloTree Pop-Up App Samantha Burmeister Join My Blogger Genius Email List Catch My Party Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group MiloTreeCart Affiliate Program All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes Stitcher YouTube Spotify The Importance of Messaging The main topic of the episode is messaging. Samantha and I discuss the importance of getting visitors and customers to understand the "why" behind the content. This "why" can drive actions such as joining an email list, taking action on blog posts, and making purchases on sales pages. We also touched on the role of AI in copywriting and the significance of brevity, authority, and selling the transformation. Samantha explains the difference between content and copywriting, stating that content is written for computers and focuses on discovery, while copywriting is about understanding the audience's needs and desires and crafting compelling messaging to inspire action. The Power of Offering Value Samantha stresses the importance of offering valuable content to capture email addresses and generate leads. She emphasized the need to provide immediate value and ensure that the freebie or content offered aligns with the paid products or services being promoted in the future. She also addressed the hesitation some people, especially women, feel when it comes to selling and promoting their offerings. Samantha encourages them to overcome this mindset and view selling as a way to serve and help others. The Role of Emotions in Purchasing Decisions We discussed the role of emotions in purchasing decisions. Samantha confirmed that people often buy based on emotions and then justify their purchase afterwards. I shared an example of buying a purse because it sparked my interest, even though I later justified it by saying I needed it for a wedding or a job interview. The Use of AI in Copywriting We also discussed the differences between using AI for content and AI for copy. When using AI for content, it can aggregate information from the internet to answer specific questions or provide recommendations. However, when it comes to copywriting, it's important to understand the desired transformation or outcome that the audience wants. I shared my approach to using AI for copywriting. I prompt my AI, ChatGPT, to be a world-class copywriter who understands human psychology. By setting up the AI with this prompt, I can then ask it to generate sales copy that will lead to the desired transformation for my target audience. Brevity and Authority in Sales Pages Samantha discussed the importance of brevity and authority in sales pages. She advises against using blocks of text, except for the about section, as people are usually more interested in knowing what they will get from the sales page. However, she acknowledges that the about section can help build authority and humanize the product being sold. I agree with Samantha's points and suggest that imposter syndrome can be overcome by putting yourself out there confidently. I emphasize the need to establish trust and authority in the sales pitch, even if you don't have formal qualifications in the field. Conclusion To sum up, the key takeaways from the episode are the need to communicate authority, establish a personal connection, and guide customers on a transformative journey. If you want to learn more about Samantha and her services, she can be found at Nomad Copy Agency and on Instagram at nomad.copy. In today's episode of The Blogger Genius Podcast, I'm excited to share with you Part 4 in my series on selling on the importance of mapping out your customer journey as bloggers and online entrepreneurs. If you missed Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3, you can hear them here. Part 1 – Why Selling is So Uncomfortable? Part 2 – Insider Tips on 6 Best Ways to Sell Part 3 – Unlocking the Psychology of Selling Your customer journey is the way you build your know, like, and trust factor so people will come back to your blog, click on your posts, and ultimately buy your products and services. I provide recommendations for improving the customer journey, such as talking to customers, analyzing analytics, and practicing empathy. I talk about how every post on your blog needs to be a sales page with a clear call to action. I also highlight the importance of understanding how our content and products are perceived by those unfamiliar with our brand, emphasizing the need for clear communication. I conclude by emphasizing the long-term nature of building a customer journey and why this will set you up for success as you continue to compete with AI. I also emphasize the need for bloggers to sell products and services and introduce MiloTreeCart as a tool for non-techies to sell digital products easily. However, it's equally important to sell products and services. This not only diversifies our income streams but also adds value to our readers. Every page on our blog should be a sales page with a call to action, guiding visitors and providing value to them throughout their journey. Understanding the Customer Journey The customer journey is the sum of experiences a visitor goes through when interacting with our brand, blog, or product. It typically involves four stages: awareness, consideration, decision-making, and retention. Awareness: This is when potential customers first come across your blog or brand. Consideration: At this stage, they are evaluating your offerings and deciding whether they align with their needs. Decision-making: This is the point where they decide to purchase your product or service. Retention: This final stage involves keeping your customers engaged and loyal to your brand. Improving the Customer Journey Improving the customer journey involves understanding how our content and products are perceived by those who are unfamiliar with our brand. For instance, I once came across a food blogger who failed to communicate clearly to potential readers with autoimmune diseases by using unfamiliar terminology. This highlights the need for putting ourselves in the shoes of our audience to ensure that our message is clear and relatable. To improve the customer journey, I recommend: Talking to customers: Direct conversations can provide valuable insights into their experiences and needs. Analyzing analytics: This can help identify areas that need improvement. Practicing empathy: This involves understanding the customer's perspective and addressing their needs effectively. Tools for Selling Digital Products For those of us who are not tech-savvy, tools like MiloTreeCart can be a lifesaver. It allows us to sell digital products easily, making it a valuable asset in our blogging journey. The Long-Term Nature of Building a Customer Journey Building a customer journey is not a one-time task. It's a long-term process that requires continuous effort and optimization. Start small and focus on areas that will have the biggest impact. Remember, small changes can make a big difference. Today, I'm thrilled to share some this podcast episode rebroadcast with my friend and Pinterest expert, Kate Ahl. We discussed the evolving landscape of Pinterest, its impact on bloggers and entrepreneurs, and how to leverage it effectively for your business. My Journey as a Blogger and Entrepreneur Before we dive into the details of our discussion, let me share a bit about my journey. My husband and I started Catch My Party in 2009, and later developed the MiloTree pop-up app. Recently, we launched MiloTree Cart, a platform designed to help bloggers sell digital products. We also have a digital product personality quiz on our website to guide people on where to start with digital products. Pinterest: A Changing Landscape In our conversation, Kate and I delved into the recent changes on Pinterest. The platform experienced a surge in users during the pandemic, but as the world started to open up again, there was a decline. To keep users engaged and attract e-commerce sellers, Pinterest introduced Idea Pins and the Verified Merchant Program. They also recognized that Pinterest is a great platform for informing future purchases. Pinterest vs. Instagram: A Unique Position Pinterest has carved out a unique position in the social media ecosystem. Unlike Instagram, which is more like a bar, Pinterest is more like a library. Pinterest aims to keep users on the platform longer to attract big brands for advertising. However, they also acknowledge that 97% of searches on Pinterest are unbranded. The Impact of Removing the Creator Fund We also discussed the removal of the Creator Fund, where Pinterest would pay creators for content, and its impact on creators today. Kate believes that this move is a net positive for creators in the long term. She explained that the program had frustrations for some creators, such as limited participation and the distraction of creating content for Pinterest instead of their own websites. Pinterest's Shift Towards Ecommerce Kate sees Pinterest shifting towards ecommerce and partnering with platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce, indicating a focus on smaller sellers. This shift towards retail and ecommerce raises questions about how it will affect bloggers, DIY bloggers, and party bloggers. However, Kate suggests that Pinterest is becoming more friendly towards both digital and physical products, allowing self-hosted sellers to upload their products and update listings easily. Building Your Own Online Presence Kate and I emphasized the importance of building your own online presence and not relying solely on social media platforms like Instagram. Your main content should be on your own website, with platforms like Pinterest used to bring people into your ecosystem. The Future of Social Media Platforms Looking ahead, I shared my thoughts on the future of social media platforms, as they are constantly changing. I advised creators to build their businesses on their own platforms and create products that they can sell and own the customer relationship. Conclusion Despite the various changes and struggles Pinterest has gone through, I am optimistic about its future. I see it as a slower-moving platform with potential for business growth. I encourage you to explore the possibilities of creating digital products to take control of your businesses. Remember, patience is key when it comes to seeing significant results from platforms like Pinterest. Show Notes: MiloTreeCart Personality Quiz: What Digital Product Should I Create?
