MiLB Talk is back as Hunter has a report from the Worcester games this week. Derrik, Jake, and Hunter discuss the heroics of Jhostynxon Garcia, and Hunter hates AI. They get into the first base discussion more. Derrik's happy that Allan Castro's back. Why are we talking about the NBA Draft? Greenville's pitching rotation is a cheat code. Justin Gonzales isn't 6'4”, and Jake highlights Enddy Azocar in the FCL minute. Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @ThePeskyReport. We are officially a part of Beyond The MonsterTwitter: @BeyondtheMnstrSubstack: https://beyondthemonster.substack.com/
In the final hour, DVD discusses Cam Ward earning the respect of the locker room and how he can do that. Dmase shared his experience with a young Rookie QB with Joe Flacco in 2008 with Baltimore. The ended the show with the transition with Jared Stillman
The MiLB trio have a lot to discuss as they dive into first base options in the minor leagues. Jake, Derrik, and Hunter try to figure out who could be depth for the 2025 season, and who could solidify the position down the road. Derrik gives his report from Worcester. They yap about the ridiculous Payton Tolle and Brandon Clarke starts, and wonder where they'll finish the season. Franklin Arias made an impact in High-A, and Conrad Cason is officially here as the FCL season has started. Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @ThePeskyReport. Jake, Derrik, and Hunter return for a normal episode of MiLB Talk. The trio discusses the ridiculous offense of Triple-A over the last week, including big weeks from Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, and Vaughn Grissom. Andy Lugo and Big Al went viral for different (but great) reasons in Greenville. Jhostynxon Garcia and Mikey Romero's improved approaches make us happy in Double-A. Salem's offense is just the Franklin Arias and Antonio Anderson show. The pitching was great, though. Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @ThePeskyReport. The MiLB Talk crew is joined by Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. Jake, Derrik, and Hunter grill Speier about the Boston Red Sox farm system. What do the Red Sox do with Roman Anthony, and how soon does he push the issue? How does Speier (and people in the system) view Franklin Arias? Does Marcelo Mayer stay at shortstop, or do they move people around? The trio asks about a few standout hitters. They also talk plenty of pitching in the system, including Juan Valera, Brandon Clarke, Payton Tolle, and more.Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @ThePeskyReport. Weather issues led to canceled games throughout the minor league system, but it couldn't stop MiLB Talk. Derrik, Jake, and Hunter return to discuss the games that WERE played. Roman Anthony is hitting the ball hard, he's not a first baseman, though, so stop asking. Portland's offense is cold, but the pitchers are dazzling (including Yordanny Monegro's Double-A debut). Yophery Rodriguez makes his organizational debut, and Miguel Bleis returns in High-A. Juan Valera is still a cheat code, and Franklin Arias isn't going to be in Salem long. Jake, Derrik, and Hunter rejoice as all four levels of the minor leagues are back in action. Hunter starts the show with a long rant about his last week, including dealing with some not-so-great stadium workers. He talks about his time at the Worcester game and the Portland series in Reading. The trio discuss the Quinn Priester trade, Juan Valera's start, Franklin Arias dominating, and more. "Guess The Prospect" makes its triumphant return. Who starts the new season on top? Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @ThePeskyReport. The MiLB Talk trio is back in full force. Derrik, Jake, and Hunter try to predict the 2025 Triple-A and Double-A rosters for the Boston Red Sox. They wonder about the depth of certain positions and make their claims on breakout players for Worcester and Portland this season. The trio realizes how many players are close to promotions and that creates issues when figuring out how the rosters will actually look. Jake's cat gives us their thoughts on Marcelo Mayer and Derrik is bringing back the Allan Castro fan club with a vengeance.Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @ThePeskyReport. Our Wild Card Weekend preview is so jam-packed, we had to separate it into two episodes. Robert Mays and Derrik Klassen dig into the three AFC games on this episode of The Athletic Football Show. Chargers-Texans is a matchup of arguably the most overachieving and underachieving teams in the playoff field. There is plenty of talk covering his defense, but they also discuss his offensive potential, his speed, and his leadership. We talk about his time in Salem and Greenville, as well as his teammates and what he wants to achieve this offseason. Make sure to follow us on Twitter, @ThePeskyReport. Derrik was a 16 year old student when he was given a walk-behind trenching machine to guide through through a field. Derrik was earning school credit with the Battle Ground School District for his work off site with the construction company Rotschy. With no training or oversight, Derrik was severely injured by the machine, eventually losing both of his legs. He survived the work accident, and is now a senior in high school. His story highlights big questions about work based learning programs at Washington schools, and whose job it is to make sure that teens exploring the workforce are kept safe. MiLB Talk is back as Derrik, Hunter, and Jake (remotely) hand out minor league awards with the help of the listeners. Someone wins multiple awards, and they discuss how unfair it was for the other nominees that Roman Anthony and Kristian Campbell were available as options for certain honors. Unsurprisingly, the award ceremony turns into the two yapping about each player and going off on unrelated tangents. The duo reminisce about their days as Little League baseball players as Derrik brags about his elite speed. Hunter is uncharacteristically mean in this episode, so apologies (not really) for that.
Derrik and Hunter are back for another MiLB Talk (minus Jake). It's the end of the season for Worcester, as the Red Sox minor league seasons are all officially over. The duo discusses Vaughn Grissom's season and how he fits into the equation in 2025 and beyond. What's Kristian Campbell's health situation? Phillip Sikes and Alex Binelas make their Triple-A debuts. Hunter Dobbins still needs more love. Let's gush about Roman Anthony more. Hunter gets bullied by some kids and almost gets hit with a baseball. What are their final thoughts on the season?
Derrik and Hunter are back for another MiLB Talk (minus Jake). With just Triple-A and Double-A to discuss, they decided to do a surprise mailbag episode. The duo discuss Roman Anthony's dominance, the rise of Vaughn Grissom and Kyle Teel, and Hunter Dobbins in Triple-A. What is Blaze Jordan's outlook following an unlucky 2024 season in Double-A? How good was Isaac Coffey to finish the year? The two get dangerously deep into trade talks with prospects and Major Leaguers. They finally answer your questions and have an elite yap session.
Derrik and Hunter are riding solo this week for MiLB Talk. Will they ever shut up? They discuss the terrorizing reign of Roman Anthony and Vaughn Grissom's improvements in Triple-A. Connelly Early has his best career start in Double-A. Mikey Romero is hitting home runs in bunches. Greenville's season ends on a high note as Bryan Gonzalez breaks a record. They discuss who could be promoted to Double-A for the final stretch. Salem's season also ends so they discuss Franklin Arias, Nazzan Zanetello, Jojo Ingrassia, and more.
