La Crosse County Democratic Party chair William Garcia in studio discussing a Wisconsin GOP anti-trans bill, reports of another Derrick Van Orden outburst. We also talked evil Star Wars and hell houses. After that, Meagan Waddell talks about recreating Thriller video in La Crescent. Began the show simply talking about William's role — he's also the 3rd US House District Dem chair — but that led into a meeting he's hosting about Republicans test running autocracies in the state. And then we got into some Star Wars, with Ahsoka just concluding. After the break, we talk about the Wisconsin GOP anti-trans bills in regards to sports. The second half of the show was a bit about reports of Derrick Van Orden's latest outburst during a White House press briefing. And, we ended talking with Waddell's fifth annual Thriller remake in La Crescent, which anyone can participate. Just search Thriller Parade on Facebook. It all culminates Oct. 29.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In Star Wars, there is always the conflict between good and evil, light vs dark, the Rebels vs the Empire, and the Resistance vs The First Order...but did the bad guys know they're evil? What did they think of Palpatine? Did their views ever change after the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Welcome to Watchers of Tomorrow! A podcast where we go through the world of science fiction television episode by episode, talking about the themes, concepts, ideas, the good, the bad, and the weird. We are great fans of sci-fi and would like to invite you on our journey through the funky and strange worlds that we are to explore… Today's episode: Well, here it is, the episode that cuts short a character. Badly. But which does evoke a bit of conversation about the nature of evil at least. Is Armus a robot in effect? Or can Armus learn to get along with people? We don't know. But at least we get some interesting character stuff. ====== Who are we? Anthony Horowitz knows the advantages and limitations of writing in a major franchise. In his latest James Bond novel, With a Mind to Kill, Horowitz uses his own brand of fast-paced dialogue and gripping storytelling to revitalize the Bond franchise while working within the confines of Ian Fleming's original world. Anthony has written over 40 books, with his Alex Rider series selling more than 19 million copies. To purchase With a Mind to Kill, follow the link below. From Amazon.com: I have over forty-five published novels to my name. The game changer for me was Stormbreaker, the first Alex Rider adventure, published in 2000. There were eleven more books in the series - the latest, Never Say Die, was published in 2017 - and they are now being developed for TV. I have plenty of other children's books out there - I was delighted to discover my Power of Five series (Raven's Gate, Evil Star etc) on sale in a tiny bookshop in Elounda, Crete only a few days ago. In this episode, you'll discover: The differences between the Bond movies and books The challenges of writing in Fleming's universe Why you should get hooked by your own writing Why Horowitz rejects routine His philosophy on collaboration Links: J. “Born and brought up through childhood with wild animals for playmates”, Frank C. Bostock was no ordinary child. From the age of 15, he became the “Boy Trainer” for his parents’ travelling menagerie, and went on to become a pioneers of showbiz across Britain - before monopolising the prime real estate of Dreamland in Coney Island with his epic displays. From fighting the world’s first boxing kangaroo to fishing one of his performing lions out of the sewers of Birmingham, Bostock’s career was a rollercoaster ride of success, disaster and death. Also this week - a debate on the merits of “ragging” at universities, and an Australian poem (-?). Hello fair listeners, and welcome to the beginning of a new era for Just One of the Guys. Due to contract negotiations with the DiManziCorp of Milan, Italy, the show has been bought out and I've moved to the brand new Two True Freaks website. But despite the new ownership, you'll still be getting the fine quality programming that you've come to expect from this show...... ... Okay, you'll get me yammering on about Green Lantern comics. In fact, this week's comic is another couple of crossovers dealing with the Underworld Unleashed story that ran throught all the DC comics at this time. In Green Lantern we get a meeting with an amped up Batman villain, Kyle and Donna getting snuggly, and the resolution of what happened to the guy Kyle gave ring construct legs to (Spoilers...He becomes evil). In Guy Gardner, we get cameos by Darkstar Colin Ferrell, Evil Star, Neron, and John Stewart, who Guy tries to kill...maybe. It was kind of a deal with the devil thing that was going on during this crossover. All of that, and more Fabio references, so that's something to look forward to. So unless you want a taste of Guy's "Spank Ray", I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Welcome back, dear listeners, to an All Star episode of Just One of the Guys. Well, maybe all star is a bit of an oversell. How about an Evil Star episode? Yeah, not quite as good, but at least more accurate. This time out we finish up the three part story dealing with...Evil Star. I guess Hal needed to start out small when dealing with his rogue's gallery. This time out we get creative uses for sport jackets, supervillains that might be a little slow, supervillains with lame superpowers, and supervillans who monologue...A LOT!!! It definitely makes it easier for Green Lantern to beat them, though. All of this, plus a look at ads. Welcome back mateys, to another thrill packed episode of Just One of the Guys. Okay, maybe not so thrilling, unless you find loan application to be a pulse pounding experience. Or perhaps you'll be swept up in the romantic tribulations of Hal and Carol. Or marvel at the awesome threat that is EVIL STAR!!! Yeah, no amount of exclamation points could make that villain seem threatening. But his little purple suited midget minions are creepy, so there's that. Plus, seaweed bondage!
