Cal and Liam return with the beginning of the end of their The Zeta Project coverage with the 5th to last double feature , this week with the episodes "Ro's Gift," which sees the return of a group of villains that debuted in Batman Beyond and "Lost and Found" which features the previously unseen origin stories of our lead protagonists. The hosts discuss a disappointing return of villains, how the episode was originally a Batman Beyond crossover and how the series continued to be hamstrung by a lack of action. With the second episode they discuss a surprisingly fun and well-written episode by a DCAU writing veteran, some fun visual easter eggs and some unique music and recognizable voice actors from the DCAU all combining to result in one of the highest-rated Zeta episodes to date. The hosts chat about the adaptation from the source material from writer Jeph Loeb and artist Ed McGuinness, necessary departures from the source and how the plot does nothing to disguise itself as anything but an old-fashioned superhero story. Liam & Cal also discuss the choice from Andrea Romano to cast many voices from Batman The Animated Series and Superman The Animated Series in familiar featured roles as well as recognizable names from other favorite childhood media. This podcast episode is a deep dive into The Absolute Universe, a fresh take on the DC universe led by writer Scott Snyder. The hosts discuss how the series reimagines Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, making bold creative choices that shift their traditional narratives. Batman is portrayed as a rugged engineer-turned-fighter, using makeshift tools and a forklift as his Batmobile. Superman grows up on Krypton, raised by his parents, making him more anti-establishment and less of a Boy Scout. Wonder Woman is reimagined as a warrior raised in hell, wielding magic, with a synthetic arm and a darker, more brutal persona. The episode also touches on how fans react to these changes, debating whether they should embrace them as Elseworld stories or cling to the classic versions. The hosts then move into a fun segment of versus battles, debating matchups like Nightwing vs. Black Widow and Nightwing vs. Captain America.Jason is onhttps://www.youtube.com/@saintsandsinnerspodcasthttps://www.youtube.com/@MultiVersePodcast8Intro Music:Main Theme (Overture) | The Grand Score by Alexander Nakarada | https://www.serpentsoundstudios.comMusic promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.comAttribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Just like that, the much discussed, but never official, Nova Disney Plus series, has gone from rumored to confirmed with Deadline reporting the onboarding of a showrunner: Criminal Minds' Ed Bernero. Bernero, who also co-created the Criminal Minds spinoff, Suspect Behavior, will serve as writer and showrunner for the Richard Ryder-focused series. Additionally, off the heels of last week's reports about Chris Evans' return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, last Friday, Variety broke the news that Evans' frequent scene partner, Hayley Atwell is also expected to reprise her role as Agent Peggy Carter. While the DCU officially launched earlier this month with the premiere of Creature Commandos on Max, James Gunn's first live action offering, next summer's Superman, unveiled its official poster via social media Monday morning. The image, a motion graphic, is an obvious allusion to Christopher Reeves' take on the character, and showcases David Corenswett's Superman ascending in flight, accompanied by a remix of John Williams' classic score and a tagline that reads, ‘Look up.' Exciting details; all of which preempts the gut punch that the official teaser trailer will not release until Thursday… (Thanks, James…) Elsewhere, horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan has been given the go ahead to write his standalone Clayface film. Without a director attached yet, it's unclear whether this film will be a part of the Matt Reeves The Batman/Penguin crime Elseworld, though Gunn referred to it as a DCU film. Currently slated for a September 2026 release, Flanagan previously described it as a horror/thriller/tragedy while expressing interest back as early as 2021. Kraven the Hunter, the latest and perhaps final entry of Sony's Spider-Man-less universe, opened this weekend to a disappointing $11 million total, a franchise low. In the wake of this fumble, just the most recent in a long string, many a Sony insider have come out of the woodwork to spill the tea, resulting in the internet being ablaze with claims that the studio is finally pulling the plug. But, not so fast! While it does sound like Sony will stop making spin-offs without Spider-Man, the studio remains quote, ‘deeply invested' in projects that include the marquee character and his many variations, including the Spider-Man Noir series that is in production in partnership with Amazon. Michael Gracey is in talks to direct Disney's live-action Tangled with a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson  from the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. Variety has learned that Austin Butler is set to star in Luca Guadagnino‘s new interpretation of the book “American Psycho” by Bret Easton Ellis for Lionsgate. Per Deadline, Joseph Quinn is reportedly set to play George Harrison in Sam Mendes' upcoming Beatles biopic series. Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal is expected to play Paul McCartney, and Harris Dickinson is the frontrunner for John Lennon. Marvel Comics announced Godzilla vs. Marvel, a six-issue one-shot series marking their first Godzilla crossover in nearly 50 years. The series spans different time periods, starting with a Fantastic Four story. Malcolm in the Middle is returning for a four-episode revival on Disney+ to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Original stars Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek will reprise their roles as Malcolm and his parents, Hal and Lois. The Hollywood Reporter claims Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach pitched a Barbie sequel to Warner Bros., but both their rep and the studio deny it. “There is no legitimacy to this,” says the filmmakers' rep, while Warner Bros. calls the report “inaccurate.” The previously announced DCU film Dynamic Duo has received a release date of June 30th, 2028.

Jace chatted with Nick Dragotta and Scott Snyder about the highly anticipated Absolute Batman at the recent San Diego Comic Con. The first of the rumored Absolute Universe titles to be seen, the development process for this version of Batman is very interesting. Snyder has talked at it at various times, and mentions it here, that using this version of Batman as an example of what Absolute version of the DC characters would look like. This was how he pitched the concept of the DC Absolute Universe to other creators and DC themselves. We certainly have seen many versions of Batman over the years and some of them have been very different when it comes to Elseworld tales, however, coupled with the incredible visuals of Nick Dragotta this feels like a singularly unique take on the character that has the potential to reach new fans or fans who haven't had a particular affinity for Batman before. Dragotta's designs are awesome and it was great to see his enthusiasm for the project. Also to hear him say he wants to do an log epic run is encouraging when we see so many artist move on from things quickly in the current state of the industry. When it comes to Snyder, you might be as surprised as we were to find out that he had some reservations about returning to an ongoing Batman title. Hearing him talk about why, though, it makes a lot of sense. Scott has always had a fear of failure, which is what has him constantly striving to give his all. We've always found that Snyder's work is at it's best when it is most personal and hearing his comments about Absolute Batman and how he relates him to his sons has our expectations very high for this series. There's lots more to unpack in the interview including Alfred and villains both old and new, so join us.

Cal & Liam wrap up the month of April with a visit to an Elseworld not visited since April 27th, 2019! After the Good Brothers recap where we stand in the series, they discuss a plot that introduces a lesser known recurring villainess in Magpie, and the classic plot device of the police not yet trusting Batman. The hosts also discuss Kurtwood Smith's turn as Jim Gordon, the surprisingly adult-oriented character design of our main baddie, and music that fits the procedural theme of the episode. All of this and more plus the reveal of next week's episode kicking off a month-long celebration of the Man of Steel's 86th birthday and more on this week's all new DCAU Review! But this year, it's a very specific type of Elseworld: the historical Elseworld, ones transplanting DC heroes and concepts into bygone days. And specifically we're looking at three stories from the early 20th century: Batman as a Robin Hood-esque thief in the 1910s, Batman doing all sorts of bizarre stuff in the mid-30s (He goes to a party with Hitler, for &%*#$ sake) and a film star playing Batman who maybe gets a little into his role. Happy New Year, everybody! To celebrate the holiday season, The Arkham Sessions takes a detour back to Gotham City! Merry Little Batman (2023), a new animated film by Warner Bros. and DC Studios (but released on Amazon!), is an Elseworld holiday special that takes place on the night before Christmas. Bruce Wayne has retired to focus his attention on raising his son, Damian, in what has been a crime-free Gotham. However, little Damian's obsession with becoming a superhero lands him into a lot of trouble--and triggers the resurgence of the city's most contemptible villains. 'Tis the season to be SCARY and the Good Brothers are visiting their favorite Elseworld to get in the mood with a review of the Batman The Brave and The Bold episode "Trials of The Demon!" - With a prologue that involves the king of fear himself the Scarecrow and his diabolical plan to ruin Halloween for all of Gotham, the hosts set the stage for an enjoyable trip for Batman to the 1800s London to team up with Sherlock Holmes and The Demon Etrigan to stop a mysterious thief of souls. The hosts talk about one major visual nod to an all-time Elseworlds comic, a soundtrack that capitalizes on the setting, Etrigan speaking in rhyme as God intended and what they may have improved on when it came to the good but somewhat overstuffed plot. After last week's special Flash-themed Spotlight episode derailed the Good Brothers a bit, they're back on track with one of their last original Superman: The Animated Series reviews wrapping up the trilogy of Bizzaro episodes with "Little Big Head Man." The hosts decide whether Writer Paul Dini and producer Bruce Timm's thoughts of this episode being "annoying" align with their own thoughts while discussing a tag-team of visuals by two animation studios with less-than-stellar histories. The hosts also talk about a wonderful Kristopher Carter soundtrack utilizing a few different styles of music, head-canon for why the Metropolis SCU has such powerful weaponry, Mxyzptlk's hatred of Superman for being Superman and why there's only one formal wear for female attorneys, teachers and newscasters in the DCAU. What do you do when you don't feel like subjecting you or your audience to more Zeta Project reviews? The answer is you take a trip around the DC Animated Multiverse to see what fun you can find and that's just what the Good Brothers are doing for this week's final review in the month of May. The hosts break down an episode of Batman The Brave and the Bold, admittedly their favorite Elseworld to visit. The episode "Knights of Tomorrow!" stays on brand for the boys' "Back to the Future" theme as this episode tackles a look at the future of a retired Bruce Wayne passing the mantle of the Bat to the next generation to continue Batman's immortality. Along the way the writers included an entire Batcave full of Easter Eggs and references that you can hear the hosts try and name each and every one of them. Plus a discussion on the BTBTB characterization of the very controversial Damian Wayne, the surprising amount of death and violence in the episode, why this is the perfect episode for fans of the history of the Dark Knight and how the Dynamic Music Partners paid homage to themselves with the style of music for the episode. Never fear, the Good Brothers are here once again with a brand new review as they continue in their return to the future of the DCAU and a discussion about the Batman Beyond Season 3 episode "Inqueling." As the title suggests this episode features the return of Terry's most memorable villains in Inque. Inque is unable to hold herself together (literally) and the surprise backstory to the character that leads to a discussion by the hosts about whether adding humanity to a villainous character automatically makes them sympathetic. Cal & Liam also talk about the little bread crumbs that would eventually lead to one of the most controversial plot points in DCAU history (#KeepEpilogueASecret) - the hosts also talk about their enjoyment of the unbound visuals that accompany Inque in her episodes, where this episode ranks in the "Inque Trilogy" and how an inverted Beyond musical number communicates emotion in the final battle. Plus the hosts talk about a voice cast that doesn't feature one major DCAU voice and previews next week's return to the show's favorite Elseworld! On January 31st, James Gunn announced the initial outline of what he and Peter Safran intend for DC's movies and television for the next ten years. James Gunn, who became Co-CEO of DC Studios (with Peter Safran), said that their goal moving forward is to keep their DC products connected to one another, and whenever there are products outside of this continuity, these will be clearly labelled as “Elseworld” products. This special episode will take a look at the roadmap of the future of DC Studios. We break it all down and discuss, from the reset of the DC film universe, what “Elseworlds” means, the announcement of new projects – movies, TV shows, animations; as well as what the future holds for some of the already existing projects.

As always, we are here to ask the big questions: Does the story make sense? How does it compare to the comic? And most importantly, has the film remained sweet, or has it soured over time? This week we are reading SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW, by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The 2021 limited series from DC's Black Label - which is basically DCs new mature / Elseworld's imprint. Most just assume that Kara Zor El is simply Superman's girly cousin - which is probably how she was created years ago. But in this cosmic adventure, she is anything but. Yes there is girl power, but as we tag along for a girls trip for justice - basically True Grit in space - we are brought to face the best and worst humanity has to offer. There's a rocket ship, a space bus depot, space drugs. a space dragon, space pirates...and space racism! And let's not forget Supergirl's super dog Krypto and Super horse Comet. And the story's true protagonist, Ruthye, a young lass from a rural backwater planet whose on an Eniga Montoya styled revenge quest, where she enlists a reluctant Supergirl after Krypto gets shot with an arrow by Krem, the murderous villain who killed Ruthye's poor yet noble father. On their journey we see the best and worst we have to offer on full sci-fi display. With moral quandaries that are often hopeless - which hurt a bit more given the times we are in - along with good humor, beautiful art, and a lovely script, you can't help but find something to love about this book. Well, except Ryan...

This week we're talking about BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT - Sean Murphy's 2017 alternate universe mini-series that flips the status quo for Batman - and asks some hard questions along the way. In the book, the Joker cures himself of his psychosis, and reverts to Jack Napier - upon which he begins a campaign to interrogate WTF the city of Gotham has been doing all these years, with law enforcement allowing a masked vigilante and some teenagers with military grade equipment take the law into their own hands. What starts out as an Elseworld's like plot becomes a not so subtle commentary to the limits of law enforcement. But hey, it's also got TWO Harley Quinns, a Batgirl, a Nightwing, a Duke, Mr. freeze, and a whole lotta Batmobiles! joining us to talk about White Knight is my old friend and favorite digital nerd from the future, making his long overdue quarantined Comics appearance Brad Berens - whose nerdy takes you can read on his eponymous weekly dispatch - bradberens.substack.com

The month of September is upon us and not only are the Pumpkin Lattes spicy, but so is the focus of our Elseworld's theme month. With a focus on various villains across the multiverse, the Good Brothers kick things off with a review of the Green Lantern: The Animated Series episode "In Love and War..." which focuses on the introduction of the Star Sapphires to this universe. The hosts break down a plot that's light on action beats, but in true Green Lantern fashion is heavy on emotion. With CGI visuals, Cal & Liam discuss costumes for Carol Ferris and the rest of the Sapphires, a few short action sequences including the space ghost (not that one) and a Silver Age homage to Carol's original suit. Plus music that plays like a movie soundtrack punctuating the most emotional scenes and a small voice cast that has several members pulling double duty throughout the episode. All of this and much more await, as well as an exciting reveal for our 175th episode on this week's DCAU Review! DC Comics surprised the internet with three big announcements out of the animated universe last week. A reimagining of the 1990s Batman: The Animated Series, complete with the original artist Bruce Timm as well as JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves. Along with that, a new Superman Animated Series will also be created, both of these for HBO Max. Plus, the hit fighting game from DC Comics 'Injustice' which birthed an entire Elseworld-like story in DC comic books continuity will also be getting an animated movie adaptation. Robbie and Ben go through each of these projects and talk about their hopes and dreams and their fondness for what came before.
