Apple CEO Tim Cook's unexpected appearance at Pop Mart's 10th anniversary showcase in China this week sparked both social media buzz and a stock rally. During his visit on Monday, Cook toured the "The Monsters" exhibition in Shanghai, met Pop Mart founder Wang Ning and artist Kasing Lung, and was gifted a custom Labubu figurine — a version of the brand's best-known character — clutching an iPhone. Videos and photos of Cook's meeting quickly went viral on social media, sending Pop Mart intraday shares up as much as 6 percent to HK$276.8 ($35.6) before paring gains to close at HK$263, with trading volume exceeding HK$4.4 billion. The company has reported record sales and a surge in demand for its collectibles across the globe. On Dewu App, a trendy online shopping platform, the Labubu third-generation series, released in April, has been purchased by 580,000 users, with more than 740,000 others listing it as "wanted". The hidden edition Labubu ID, initially priced at 99 yuan ($13.9), peaked at 4,523 yuan — a 45.7-fold increase — before falling back to around 664 yuan after restocks. Strong momentum was also seen in sales of its other intellectual properties such as Twinkle Twinkle and Skullpanda. Many figurines were sold out instantly upon release, driving robust resale premiums. Pop Mart's first-half 2025 financial report highlights its continued growth. Revenue from Labubu skyrocketed 6.7 times to 4.81 billion yuan, while Skullpanda brought in about 1.2 billion yuan, more than doubling from a year earlier. The rise of Pop Mart mirrors a wider wave of Chinese guochao (domestic trend) brands gaining global attention. In the first three quarters, China's exports of festive supplies, dolls and animal-shaped toys exceeded 50 billion yuan, reaching more than 200 economies, said Wang Lingjun, vice-minister of the General Administration of Customs. Travelers visiting China increasingly treat Labubu as must-buy souvenirs, and international fans have begun showcasing their collections online. China Open men's singles finalist Learner Tien from the United States, for instance, gave a public shoutout to friends who gifted him Labubu toys during a recent trip in China. Labubu has demonstrated strong resilience as an IP, said Tian Lan, analyst at Euromonitor International."Its evolution from picture-book art to plush formats has been a major success, showing a brand that knows how to innovate without losing its core DNA." Pop Mart's IP strategy has evolved meaningfully in recent years. The company is transitioning from a blind-box seller to a vertically integrated IP incubator, where hits like Labubu and Twinkle Twinkle serve as both growth engines and proof of concept, according to Lan. Twinkle Twinkle, in particular, demonstrates that consistent IP investment can generate sustainable creative and financial returns. The company's growing ecosystem — spanning product, animation, retail experience, and licensing — suggests a scalable model, said Lan."The key will be to maintain portfolio balance and cross-IP differentiation, ensuring that each property contributes to a coherent cultural universe rather than competing for short-term attention," Lan added. Speaking on fast-moving consumer taste in designer toys, Lan said it follows identifiable emotional and cultural patterns rather than pure randomness. Brands that continuously listen, co-create with fans, and express evolving values can capture long-term loyalty even in short-term trend cycles," Lan said. "What matters is cultural sensitivity and agility, not just predictions. In that sense, the designer toy market remains less about chasing hype and more about building emotional equity over time."“在短期潮流周期中,那些持续倾听消费者声音、与粉丝共同创作、并传递与时俱进价值观的品牌,能够赢得长期的用户忠诚度。 rallyn.回升,上涨/ˈræli/surgen. 适应力,恢复力;/rɪˈzɪliəns/scalableadj.

The world works in awfully strange ways sometimes. We had been having a blast recording our episodes on the Lucky Stars series, and we were looking forward to discussing the final film of the initial trilogy, Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars, for a multitude of reasons. Amongst those, are the stellar action scenes found throughout the film, particularly the finale, in which a trio of deadly assassins take on our lovable bunch of misfits in an epic throwdown! One of the most memorable aspects of this extremely hard-hitting and kinetic sequence is the battle between the legendary Sammo Hung and martial arts maestro Richard Norton. We were scheduled to record on Saturday, but work related events postponed our recording by a couple of days. Little did we know, that within that time frame, our mate Richard would suddenly pass away. Shocked, devastated, and utterly confused by the news, we initially decided to postpone our episode until a later point in time. Upon much reflection though, we ultimately came to the conclusion that we should move forward with the episode. Listen in as we breakdown why we enjoy this film so much, the similarities and differences between it and its predecessors, and our future plans for paying tribute to the wonderful human being that was Richard Norton. Don't forget to subscribe, download, like, and share with your friends! Thanks again for your continued support and we hope you enjoy.

Today we are talking with ASCAP award-winning composer, Matt Bowen. We discuss his musical development from a classically trained violinist touring with a youth symphony to a full-time composer. We also dive into the compositional process behind his project, the Amazon Series "Gen V." Topics Include: • Matt's Background in violin • San Diego Youth Symphony • Learning harmonic structure • Do you know how to wrap cables? The value of an internship • The Importance of asking questions • Gen V: Threading the needle of spinoff music • Creating the Gen V “gritty” sound • How experience as an orchestrator helps with synthesized music • The members of the Gen V music team • Advice for aspiring musicians https://mattbowenmusic.com/ Matt Bowen is an ASCAP award-winning composer based in Los Angeles. A classically trained violinist from the age of three and later a member of a touring youth symphony, he ultimately shifted to working behind the scenes. He teamed up with record producer Matt Wallace (Maroon 5, Faith No More) and worked as an engineer on RIAA-certified platinum singles Michael Franti & Spearhead's "All Rebel Rockers" and O.A.R.'s "All Sides.” As composing projects continued to ramp up, he ultimately pivoted to composing full-time. Bowen recently scored Hulu's R-rated feature film THE BINGE starring Vince Vaughn and Skylar Gisondo. His work can be heard on the gritty Emmy Award-winning documentary BLOOD ROAD (Red Bull Media House). He also teamed up with Christopher Lennertz to co-score the Netflix TV series BEST WORST WEEKEND EVER. Bible Reading: Psalms 46:10; 119:162-171Jasper leaned against a tree trunk, his hands behind his head. He loved the annual family camping trips. This year they'd seen deer when they hiked in the woods. They'd explored the river gorge and found fossils, and they'd climbed some of the rocks. They'd also fished and waded in the river. Jasper sighed with pleasure. "This sure is a cool place!" It was too dark to see, but Jasper could hear the smile in his mom's voice. "You seem to be enjoying yourself in spite of no playgrounds or ice cream shops or TV or video games." "Yeah." Jasper grinned. Late that evening, the family sat contentedly by the smoldering campfire, listening to it crackle and hiss. Crickets chirped, and small creatures scurried by, rustling the leaves. In the background, the river murmured as it flowed over the rocks. "Wow! Just look at all those stars!" Jasper said as he gazed up at the sky. "We sure can't see this many stars at our house. They seem closer to us here than they do at home!" The others laughed. "The stars aren't any closer," Dad told him. "But we're out in the country now, away from all the city lights. When there are a lot of bright lights around, we can't see the light of the fainter stars." "Oh, I get it." Jasper smiled, still looking upward. "I like it here--it's peaceful. It's kind of nice to have it quiet--you can think out here." "That's one of the reasons I like to come here too," said Grandpa. "The glaring lights of the city make it hard to see the stars, and the busyness of everyday demands can make it hard to see how God is working in our lives and blessing us. It's good to get away from the daily routine." Dad nodded. "Yes, but we don't have to go camping in the country to do that. We can take a break from our busy routine each day to spend time with Jesus and concentrate on the truth and promises He shares with us in His Word."Grandpa turned on his flashlight and searched through his duffel bag. "This would be a good time to do that," he said as he pulled out his Bible. "Tonight, let's read together and talk about some things God is telling us." -Sherry L. KuytHow About You?Is the busyness of everyday life interfering with your time with God? It's a good idea to set aside quiet time to spend with Jesus and remember what He's done for you. You don't have to go out to the country to do that. Find a place where you can take a break from your normal activities and pay attention to what God is saying as you read your Bible and talk with Him.Today's Key Verse:Be still, and know that I am God. A recent study by NOIRLab's educational project ‘Globe at Night', shows how light pollution is increasing fast, taking away the majestic view of our starry night sky. Our God is so powerful that all He had to do was speak, and the entire universe was formed. At the very beginning of time, God designed Jesus' birth to be revealed in the stars when He created the heavens and the earth -- and when He sent His Son to this world, He ordained that a star would proclaim that very birth.
God is so powerful that all He had to do was speak and the whole universe was created as vast and as detailed as it is. Within that creation, He ordained that a star would be near enough to the earth to proclaim the birth of His Son who was sent to save the world.
