Which actors have appeared in more sci-fi, fantasy, and comic book movies than any other? Which ones will dominate with fans at pop culture conventions over the next decade? On today's pod, we run down actors with the most “geek credibility.” Names that are synonymous with far-flung futures, magic wands, and caped crusading such as Samuel Jackson, Sigourney Weaver, Karl Urban, Hugo Weaving, Zoe Saldana, and more. We also discuss the careers of actors like Mark Hamill and Linda Hamilton who live in the shadow of popular characters they've played, and how taking those roles has been both a blessing and a curse.
Who has the most geek cred? Probably your next door neighbour. He's got a lot of Funko Pops and Star Wars t-shirts.
In our latest episode, we share our appreciation/understanding of what's going on in the world, and then try to regain some of our geek-cred. Note: Nate still has a long way to go. Hey friends! Join us this time for an ill-advised, under-cooked, helluva show where we discuss snubs from the previous episodes Top 100 Television Shows of All Time. We nominate some shows that shoulda woulda coulda made the cut. Which ones to YOU say got snubbed? Speaking of what may have been... we play a round of "Shoulda, Coulda Star Wars". Who did they almost cast in Star Wars key roles?? You may know some, but you'll be shocked by others. Add to your Geek Cred with this round of trivia! Wow. Full Disclosure: The audio may be problematic in this one, if you're a hardcore audiophile. If you're like 99% of us, you probably will think it sounds just fine. Bad boys, whatcha gonna do when the sherrif John Brown come for you?
Ken takes advantage of the empty campus and brings his little Tank along to work. Show X sends good birthday wishes to Jesse, Hide, and Ryoichi. Wayne was able to see My Neighbor Totoro in theater which he highly recommends. Amy and Wayne are going to visit Japan this year and take advantage of knowing someone with an extra room. Kicking off Geek Cred, Ken is playing WoW as usual, but even more so this last week. He also attempted to bring the console world and PC master race together throguh Rocket League. Ken had an anniversary with his Kitten Features, thanks to technology for reminding him. Amy has been playing Splunky and Catherine. Wayne is still playing Pokemon Go and trying to catch them all and working with Kopii to beat Trine 2 and start Trine 3. Wayne also surprisingly enjoyed the new Ghostbusters movie and The Acountant with Ben Afleck. Kopii writes in to remind us all to check out Awesome Games Dones Quickly on Twitch and to donate money to help charities they support. Ken also found time to watch Hardcore Henry! After Wayne fails at how long a music break is, the guys finish the rest of the show talking about CES 2017. For their disfunctional deviations, they team shares what they did for the holiday season, including adventures with family and friends. For gaiming in Geek Cred, Kopii has been introduced to VR through the Oculus. Wayne picked up a new GoPro for himself and Kopii and Wayne went Pokemon hunting with Earthweaver, catching many a SantaChu. Wayne also took Kopii to experience the South Park endorsed Casa Bonita. Ken shares the geeky gifts he received for the holidays and can now talk to all of his technology. Wayne is also trying to talk more to technology. Both the guys want to be more technology. Ken took his parents to see Rogue One as well, this time in 3d, while Wayne took Kopii to see it along with his parents. Both groups continue to enjoy it. Ken wants to enjoy more "adult" content in VR. Happy Holidays everyone Wayne is pretending to be a professional photographer these last few weeks. Wayne has started celebrating the holidays with a pajama party, working all night, and enjoying some Karaoke. As he does the show, he has to run right away to make a flight out to the East coast for the week. Wayne is all packed to go, in his new car. He is still learning all of the cool features that a modern vehicle has. Ken is just back, late in fact, from a trip to Greece. He took many photos and learned many science things about computres and space. He also presented his paper to experts. Ken also explains Greek quisine. In the Geek Cred section, Ken was surprised with personal VR for Christmas. Wayne got his VR Oculus touch controllers in. Both of the guys talk about their new VR expereineces. Al and guest Dan from the Radio Free Borderlands podcast have a talk about geek cred. What exactly is it and why do some people feel the need to test for it?
Ken is hosting a Chinese edition of Show X, well at least the intro. Ken is continuing to be healthy by drinking mostly water, except on today's show, where he is drinking like a proper Scott. Many thanks to everyone who is supporting the show and network! Ken has contributed to the overall human knowledge by submitting his paper for his doctorate. Ken got a little to entertained while working out at the Gym. Ken has some choice words for those who take advantage of their license to drive. Heading to the Geek Cred, we get some opinions on the new Battlefield 1 beta, check up on VtW Tumblr, and Ken's uptake in photography. Ken roll back in time in his Deviant Art days. Then the WoW Legions discussion begins... What makes a game "Pretty"? Ken then stumbles through some news and articles to end out the show. Ken is hosting all by himself again, it has been a while. Since all he has been doing is working he jumps right into Geek Cred to talk all about the Pokemon craze that has recently grabbed the world. Ken regails us with his ninja Pokemon skills and tricks to how to control Evee evolutions. Ken has also reinstalled Skyrim along with loads and loads of mods. He had much fun until he broke it and went back to Payday 2. Ken has finally realized that games can get dull once you get far enough along that you can beat anyone. Ken has upgraded his video consuption ability with a new Chromecast. In the Geek-O-Scope, did Bethesda steal content from a modder? Evolve going free to play is apparently a successful move. According to science, Pokemon is hugely popular. Warning, pay attention to your surroundings while playing Pokemon GO. On this episode, Ken finally gets to sit down with one of his favorite souls in Hollywood; host, actress, and the glamorously geeky Tiffany Smith. Ken digs deep and gets Tiffany to open up about growing up a California surfer girl on the East Coast, having Geek Cred, and being a light in a dark place. It's also episode 42 proper of the show... which carries a special meaning for Ken... Ken is a busy man and can't make the show, but we are rescued from a Wayne only, solo show, by the awesome Lt. Fork. She helps Show X spend almost an entire episode talking about Geek Cred instead of any real news. We look at Fork's "retro" gaming on her PS1, the crazy beats that happened at the Global Dub Festival, and sneak in a little bit of Anime discussion since Ken isn't here to stop us. Welcome to episode #54 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. I'm grappling with some side-comments and feedback that now there is too much about what's going on in my world. I'm not sure I'm completely happy just doing interviews, just talking about what I've seen in the past week of Marketing and Advertising or DJing the audio comments, so I'm going to push ahead by mixing it up and having a hearty balance of everything. This is an experimentation for my digital marketing agency, Twist Image, to "walk the walk" and Podcast. I love doing this show. I love the many global voices, and when I talk about events I am attending or speaking at, I love the fact that it incites people to get involved and show up. What do you think?
