Offense vs Northwestern Starts at 1:00 We got in a time machine and went back to 2023 and it felt pretty good. Michigan and Northwestern were about even in yardage towards the end of the first half and then Michigan runs the worst two-minute drill to result in a touchdown ever. Can you do anything Michigan did in the 2nd half against Ohio State? No. A rare compliment to Kirk Campbell. Looking ahead to Bryce Underwood. Michigan is also going to portal a quarterback. A few guys who will contribute next year got to play in this game. There's a vibe about upcoming coaching/coordinator changes. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Defense vs Northwestern Starts at 34:01 Michigan was playing one of the worst offenses in America and made them look like it. Who comes back next year? The defensive tackles are gone but some ends are probably back. Will Johnson is gone but Hall is probably back. Zeke Berry is a safety playing corner so he has his limitations. 3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 48:06 Takes hotter than Tavierre Dunlap. What would be this team's record against last year's schedule? What would this team's record be with last year's coaching staff? Zvada is 6/6 on 50+ field goals this year. The transfer portal opens in one week and is only open for three weeks! Evaluating next year's offensive line. It will be interesting to see how a new offensive coordinator would evaluate the talent. They're probably fine at linebacker next year but the secondary is a concern. 4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:19:27 Ohio State 38, Indiana 15 Indiana's offensive line got destroyed which doesn't bode well for Michigan! Indiana's coaches are great but they played this game with James Madison's talent. Michigan State 24, Purdue 17 This one was fun to watch after the Victors signing event. This was being enjoyed by anyone who wasn't a Michigan State or Purdue fan. Michigan State has a "win and you're in" against Rutgers! Illinois 38, Rutgers 31 A wild ending to this one. Rutgers just stops playing defense on Illinois' game winning touchdown. Penn State 26, Minnesota 25 Penn State just hanging on by the skin of their teeth all game. There's a blocked extra point for a 2-pt return! This was a very MGoBlog score. Nebraska 44, Wisconsin 25 Nebraska is bowl eligible for the first time since 2016! Another poor performance for Wisconsin on both sides of the ball. Wisconsin hasn't had a losing season since 2001 (they're 5-6). Iowa 28, Maryland 13 Iowa runs their running back 35 times, naturally. Is it time for Maryland to move on from Locksley? Iowa Nebraska on Black Friday is now a fun tradition we're excited for. USC 19, UCLA 13 One of the Big Ten's all time greatest rivalries! There was a kickoff at the 5 yard line. The decision to bench Miller Moss is weird because he didn't appear to have been the problem. MUSIC: "Life Is"-- Jessica Pratt "Lou's Tune" -- DARGZ, Moses Boyd "The In-Between" -- In This Moment “Across 110th Street”—JJ Johnson and his Orchestra

-Nebraska let a 2-5 team come into Lincoln and push them around and keep the bowl berth at bay for 2 more weeks…at this point it seems like a psychological issue, right? Maybe it always was.-Your next opponents…USC lost to Washington to fall to 4-5 but they will be a tough team at home. Then, Wisconsin in Lincoln---a very average team who has Nebraska's number…and then, at Iowa-Nebraska is now 1-30 since 2018 in games they had a final possession tied, or trailing by one score. Iowa has the Big Ten West locked up, but it of course still wants a 10th regular-season victory and the Heroes Trophy on Friday against a Nebraska team that has bowl eligibility on the line. Amie Just of the Lincoln Journal Star joins this episode of the Hawk Off The Press podcast to preview the game with The Gazette's John Steppe.
In the opening take, Lee talks about what he saw after rewatching Jackson Arnold in the 2nd half of the BYU game. Then Grant joins to talk about the fact that OU's about to play its final Big 12 game. Will we miss the Big 12 (6:10)? Will Dillon Gabriel play against TCU? If not, what should we expect from Jackson Arnold (14:30)? Lee provides some reasons why you should be optimistic about OU's chances against TCU, but also points out where there's some concern. OU's defensive line is struggling to get sacks, and TCU is perfectly capable of throwing all over the Sooners. At least OU's been awesome at getting takeaways, and it would be great if Gentry Williams is back healthy (23:25). TCU QB Josh Hoover is on a pretty hot run right now and the Frogs have some playmakers who can give OU trouble. This matchup for OU's offense may be the inverse of the UCF game. Lee has a couple of things that the Sooners may do on offense that has worked against TCU this season. We beg Jeff Lebby not to run Jackson Arnold all game because we don't want to see Davis Beville take a meaningful snap (39:30). TCU is playing for bowl eligibility, while OU's playing to send seniors like Drake Stoops out on a high note. Grant laments OU losing a couple games in what he says has been an easy schedule this season. Both offensive coordinators are from the Art Briles tree (49:00). The last time a true freshman made his first career start at Owen Field, Caleb Williams led OU to a double-digit win over TCU in 2021 (53:00). We turn our attention to the Big 12 games that don't have much consequence this week. Lee talks about how many bowl teams the Big 12 could get (55:45). Grant continues to rip OSU for not being a good team as we talk about the Cowboys' upcoming matchup with BYU (59:55). Oddsmakers sure seem to be telling us to take K-State against Iowa State. Our discussion leads to a talk about the fake 2020 season and how that's the only time Lincoln Riley has won a bowl game. Grant lays out a scenario that could have gotten OU to the Playoff in 2020 (1:03:40). Grant wants to talk about how OU has underachieved this season (and last season) and Grant uses Louisville as an example to make a really good point (1:10:20). Grant brings up Danny Stutsman not being in the mix for the Butkus award (1:20:30). We go to the picks where Lee continues to be hot somehow. We begin with Iowa-Nebraska so Lee can complain about how bad Iowa is. Grant lays out how Nebraska is choking once again (1:25:00). Next up is Texas Tech-Texas where a Red Raiders win would help out OU. Has Quinn Ewers been mid (1:31:00)? To the Oregon State-Oregon Civil War (1:34:10). Ohio State-Michigan is the biggest game of the week. The guys are on opposite sides. Lee wants to talk about Marvin Harrison Jr. compared to other recent elite college WRs (1:37:20). We finish up with the Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn. Can the Tigers please knock Alabama out of the Playoff race? Grant wants to know if Jayden Daniels will be considered for the top pick in the NFL Draft? And despite a lot of losses, Caleb Williams is surprisingly having a great statistical season (1:44:40). Hopefully OU wins Friday, but Grant can't help but be bothered by the fact that OU is probably going to let Texas win the Big 12 (1:52:15). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
