Have you ever felt devastated by your failures? Felt stuck, like you couldn't see a way through or out? Felt absolute loss, like things could never be as good as they once were? You're not alone--God's people felt all this, too. In this series on Ezra-Nehemiah, we explore how God's Spirit redeems broken hearts, restores what was lost, and builds beauty from the ashes. The Kingdom of God is coming, and the Spirit has called us to join Him in His building work!June 6th, 2026Rev. Kelcie Exline
Novelist Elliot Ackerman and retired Admiral James Stavridis — the former NATO Supreme Allied Commander — join the Chuck Toddcast to discuss their new novel 2084 and to deliver some deeply uncomfortable warnings about where war, technology, and great-power competition are actually headed. The duo, whose previous collaboration 2034 imagined a U.S.-China war, are quick to clarify that their work isn't predictive fiction — it's cautionary fiction, written from the conviction that major disasters almost always stem from a failure of imagination, and that the only way to prevent the worst-case scenarios is to seriously imagine them first. Ackerman and Stavridis argue that war has fundamentally changed, that superpowers are now uniquely vulnerable to asymmetric warfare, and that victors are made or unmade by their willingness to adapt to new technologies — pointing to the Ukraine war as a real-time revolution in drone combat and AI-driven battlefield decision-making. They raise the hardest moral question facing modern militaries: do you always need a human in the loop of the kill chain, and if not, who is morally responsible when something goes wrong? Different countries are answering that question in different ways, with profoundly different ethical and strategic consequences. The conversation broadens into the deeper structural concerns animating 2084. Ackerman and Stavridis warn that one of the gravest threats to the international order is the rise of corporations whose power is beginning to rival that of nation-states — and they argue the defining feature of a nation-state has always been its monopoly on violence, meaning governments will eventually be forced to ensure corporations can't apply violence at scale (a fight that has already begun in subtle ways). They flag Trump's recent summit with Xi Jinping as a massive win for China, with Xi clearly presenting himself as the senior partner while Trump walked away with very little — and the meeting was particularly catastrophic for Taiwan, whose strategic standing has now been visibly weakened. The authors discuss whether democracy will remain the defining feature of America going forward, whether the country can overcome its current internal divisions, and how human patterns of warfare repeat themselves across centuries even as the technology evolves. They make the case that the 1983 film War Games was prescient and overdue for a reboot, that military action against Cuba would be nothing like Venezuela — politically much tougher given the engaged Cuban-American community in Florida, and economically far more expensive on the reconstruction side — and that Venezuela itself has the natural resources to one day become "the Dubai of the Caribbean" if its politics ever stabilize. Their bottom-line warning is the one most worth sitting with: the war between the United States and China is the one we all hope to avoid, and the only way to make sure it never happens is to take seriously the possibility that it could. Chuck Todd uses the fallout from the Texas runoff to identify a much bigger pattern emerging across the Sun Belt — and argues we may be watching a generational realignment of American politics in real time. For decades, Southern states moved steadily from blue to red, with the Sun Belt providing the demographic engine of every Republican majority and Democrats traditionally finding their path to power through the upper Midwest. But Trump's GOP has now moved so far right that it's quietly opening the door for Democrats across the South — the blue shift we've seen in Georgia over the past decade is starting to happen in Texas, and the Trump brand has badly complicated things for the centrist voters who used to keep these states reliably Republican. Chuck argues that successful Southern Republican governors of the past spent enormous energy doing coalition management — keeping their activist wing at bay while delivering for swing voters — but Republicans misread their recent electoral dominance and started catering exclusively to their base instead. The data is clear: election deniers consistently lose in Georgia, and when every single issue becomes a loyalty test, you bleed exactly the kind of voters you need to actually win. But Chuck’s larger argument is that Democrats are blowing the opportunity. He argues the Democratic path back to power is genuinely simple — economic inequality and the concentration of corporate power are causing virtually all of America's ills, and there's a coherent coalition waiting to be built around those issues — but progressives behave like they've already won the intellectual argument and refuse to do the actual work of persuasion. There's no "pure" way to win, Chuck says: winning coalitions are inherently messy, both party bases want movement politics, but the actual electorate consistently rewards coalition politics. Americans increasingly dislike both parties for very different reasons — moderate voters think Democrats are weak and Republicans are too extreme — and what they're actually hungry for is a coalition that is stable and visibly capable of governing. Then, novelist Elliot Ackerman and retired Admiral James Stavridis — the former NATO Supreme Allied Commander — join the Chuck Toddcast to discuss their new novel 2084 and to deliver some deeply uncomfortable warnings about where war, technology, and great-power competition are actually headed. This powerful message centers on John 14:6 where Jesus declares He is the way, the truth, and the life, challenging us to understand that Jesus isn't just a good option among many—He's the only way to the Father. We're invited to see Jesus as perfect theology, the exact representation of God. Every healing, every miracle, every act of compassion Jesus performed reveals the Father's heart. When we wonder what God is like, we need only look at Jesus. He never made anyone sick, never killed anyone, never brought lack—He only healed, raised the dead, and multiplied provision. This means we can stop asking why God allowed certain hardships and start examining our own participation in His will. The message emphasizes that God's sovereignty doesn't mean He controls everything like a puppet master, because God is love, and love doesn't control. Instead, we're called to be active participants in seeing God's will manifest through faith. Mark 11 shows us that Jesus spoke to a fig tree and it withered, then explained that whoever believes and doesn't doubt can speak to mountains. Faith isn't needed for what we already have—it's required for the greater things of God. This teaching liberates us from passivity and invites us into a life of victory where we partner with God through believing His word and declaring it in faith.

Host Grant Mona reacts to a landscape-shifting Monday and Tuesday. We start with the scenes in Indianapolis as Dusty May's Michigan Wolverines reach the mountaintop, before returning to the West Coast to break down a vital weekend for the Clippers and a shootout thriller for the Kings. Segment One: "Hardest Playing Team in Basketball" | Michigan Wins It All The Michigan Wolverines are national champions! In a tactical masterclass, Michigan defeated the UConn Huskies 69–63 on Monday night to claim the 2026 National Title. The Lendeborg Legacy: Grant reacts to the postgame presser from Dusty May and tournament breakout star Lendeborg, who played through a sprained MCL and rolled ankle to secure the title. Lendeborg's blunt assessment: "We're the hardest-playing team in basketball. We are the best team in college basketball, and we want to be one of the greats ever. Mission accomplished." Defensive Clinic: Analysis of how Michigan held the high-powered UConn offense to just 31% shooting. Grant discusses Dusty May's rapid turnaround of the program and why this Wolverines squad—which scored 90+ points in every tournament game leading up to the final—proved they could win in the mud when the trophy was on the line. Segment Two: California Postseason Push | Clippers & Kings Stay Alive It was a high-stakes 48 hours for the pro teams in Los Angeles as playoff positioning comes down to the wire. Clippers Statement in Sacramento: Over at the Golden 1 Center on April 5th, the LA Clippers dismantled the Sacramento Kings 138–109. Kawhi's Response: Kawhi Leonard (26 points) addressed the recent "contender" chatter, emphasizing that despite roster changes, the goal remains building daily. Ty Lue's Focus: We hear from the head coach on the team's late-season surge: "I feel confident in our players. Our goal is to make the playoffs, and if we get there, anything can happen." Kings Edge Predators in the Shootout: Back at Crypto.com Arena on Monday night, the Los Angeles Kings tightened the Western Conference race with a gritty 3–2 shootout win over the Nashville Predators. Kempe's Clutch Gene: Reaction to Adrian Kempe, who netted the lone shootout goal to secure the vital extra point. Locker Room Grit: We hear from Jim Hiller and the Kings veterans on the importance of the two points as they move into sole possession of the final playoff spot. The message: "In April, style points don't matter—only the result." Produced by: Grant Mona Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Hail to the Victors! UNC hired Michael Malone?!?! The Starting Five.
Michigan won a national championship Monday night and we're going to talk about it. Matt Norlander is live in Indianapolis where he's been holed up for the last 6 days, Hartzell is comfortably back at home in NC, and the fellas have a lot to unpack from the Final Four. Beyond the actual games (which were, let's face it, just ok), what was Indy like as a host venue? Is the UConn dynasty over or are we just hitting the pause button for now? Is Michigan about to be cooking for the foreseeable future with Dusty May confirmed to stay in Ann Arbor? What did Norlander think of Hartzell's basketball game when they hooked up at Hinkle Fieldhouse? What the hell was going on with the Chainsmokers on Saturday night? And did North Carolina panic last Sunday when everyone in the college basketball world was saying 'no' to their head coaching vacancy? A lot to cover from a wild - and final - weekend of the college basketball season. Let's dig in!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Listen along as we look at the Palm Sunday story. Notes//Quotes: Mark 11:1-10 Luke 17:20-21 Matthew 11:4-6 Zech 9:9 “One the one hand this looks like all other triumphal entries. Two hundred years earlier Simon Maccabeus had defeated foreign armies and kept Israel independent and he rode in to Jerusalem with people shouting cheers and waiving Palm branches because he delivered them… This triumphal entry parodies the entries of kings and armies. Victors in battle do not ride into their capital cities riding on donkeys but on fearsome horses, but this kind does not, and will not triumph through force of arms.” Stanley Hauerwas “Jesus is the Lord of all and under his hand nothing but harmony and peace comes about. The animal knows and loves his true master for who he is. This is a foreshadowing of the healing and completion of all nature as found in Isaiah 11, the wolf shall live with the lamb” Tim Keller Donkey cross 1/2/3/4 “Humans are very attached to outcomes. We say we trust God but behind the scenes we work our fingers to the bone and our emotions into a tangled fray trying to control our outcomes. We praise God when our normal looks like what we thought it would. We question God when it doesn't. And walk away from Him when we have a sinking suspicion that God is the one who set fire to the hope that was holding us together…What if disappointment is really the exact appointment your soul needs to radically encounter God?” - Lysa TerKuerst - Not Supposed to Be This Way
Jens og Anders har SCIFI SNAKKET Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. Vurderingen Jens: ⭐⭐ (to stjerner — “kunne have været én”). Shownotes til episoden om Frankenstein Siden sidst Anders Så Project Hail Mary i forpremiere (Ryan Gosling som Ryland Grace, Rocky-alienen, “let’s science the shit out of this”-vibe); sammenligner med The Martian. Har læst Good Morning, Midnight (Lily Brooks-Dalton) — bog bedre end Netflix-filmen for ham. Nævner femte sæson af For All Mankind (premiere 27. marts 2026). Læser There Is No Antimemetics Division (qntm) — “weird” puzzle-anti-mem; stor anbefaling. Victors write the histories. When you live under the umbrella of what you believe is the worlds victor, you believe the histories they write. Iran is said to be a terrorist state. Those words hold an ideological framing of another nation that blinds us to their capabilities and intent. We don't see their capabilities as adaptive but as terrorist and unfair. We don't see their innovation as capabilities but as inferior, even though we know nothing about them. We don't see our vulnerabilities because of our assumptions of victory. See your adversary clearly. Sometimes American leaders invoke the idea that their policies and practices are on the “right side of history”—and that their opponents are therefore on the wrong side of history. What does that mean, that perhaps what's popular right now is the right side of history? Or that a certain political perspective is the right side of history? Or the opposite? Join Kevin as we take a dive into the topic “on the wrong side or the right side of history.” // Download this episode's Application & Action questions and PDF transcript at whitestone.org.

In this episode, Dr. John Neufeld explores Isaiah 41:11-20 and the journey from victim to victor. Using the apostle Paul as an example, he examines how believers can move beyond a victim mentality to embrace confidence in God's help, promises of triumph, and provision of abundance. Dr. Neufeld reminds us that our hope isn't found in positive thinking, but in the resurrection of Jesus and God's unwavering commitment to His redeemed people. When God is for us, who can stand against us?God and the World's Idols: What are you really worshipping? In this series through Isaiah 40–44, Dr. John Neufeld explores one of Scripture's most powerful confrontations between the living God and the idols humanity creates. Writing to a nation facing exile and questioning whether their God has abandoned them, Isaiah paints a stunning portrait of who God truly is — His wisdom that needs no counsel, His power that never grows weary, His sovereignty over history itself.

PREVIEW — Victoria Coates — Winners and losers of the Ukraine conflict endgame. Coates analyzes the victors of the Ukraine conflict endgame, naming China as a significant beneficiary. Should Russia succeed, its status as a global player will be restored, though suspicion of Russian intentions persists because they extract more than they contribute. The conflict most significantly undermines the U.S. image as a reliable ally committed to securing nations' freedom—a credibility loss reminiscent of earlier historical failures during the World Wars and Kuwait crisis.
One consolation of defeat is that it provides an opportunity to adapt to reality. Victors, on the other hand, tend to get lost in the high. Just a week before the Democratic Party's landslide last Tuesday, Simon Bazelon released the “Deciding to Win” report in the hopes of persuading liberal elites that they're alienating the moderates […]
Can a Christian be possessed? Can Satan read your mind or control your thoughts? Chip shares that victory over Satan requires knowing who he is, how he works, and what weapons he uses against you.GENERAL Command (Eph. 6:10) “Allow yourself to be continually strengthened by the power already made available to you in your new position and relationship with Christ.” It is the power that raised Christ from the dead and now dwells in you.SPECIFIC Command (Eph. 6:11) How? By continually and repeatedly putting on, at specific points in time, the spiritual protection God has provided for you... for the express purpose of holding on to your position in Christ as you are bombarded by Satanic strategies designed to destroy you and/or render you ineffective in Kingdom pursuits. The REASON for Commands (Eph. 6:12) It's because our real struggle is not against physical/material adversaries, but against a hierarchy of demonic forces doing battle in the spiritual realm.Five basic truths about spiritual warfare:There is an INVISIBLE world that is just as real as the visible world. We are involved in an invisible WAR, a cosmic conflict that has eternal implications. Our foe is FORMIDABLE and his goal is to destroy us and discredit the cause of Christ. We must RESPECT our foe, but not FEAR him – become acutely aware of his “methods,” but not be preoccupied by them.As believers in Christ, we do not fight “for” victory, we fight “FROM” victory. On January 14, 1973, when Super Bowl VII was played, perfection was on the line. Up to that point in the American football season, the Miami Dolphins had a perfect record—sixteen games without a loss. And when the Super Bowl was over, the victorious Dolphins would go down in sports history as the only team in professional football with a perfect record. Victorious. That’s also a designation that fits Jesus. A close look at His ministry reveals one victory after another. Matthew’s record of Christ’s ministry in Galilee (Matthew 4:23-9:38) includes summary statements on the front and back ends. “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people” (4:23; 9:35). Christ was victorious over demons, disease, and death (see Mark 5:1-43). And what looked like a crushing defeat—His death on the cross—turned out to be the final victory. He defeated the ultimate enemy—death—by His own resurrection (see Acts 2:24). Victors—whether in sports or other fields of endeavor—are showered with awards and gifts. What’s the appropriate response to Jesus whose life, death, and resurrection have secured forgiveness and a right relationship with God for all who embrace Him? Nothing less than worshipful allegiance!
