It’s been a huge week of news ahead of the biggest races of the year. On the eve of the Indy 500 some of the Team Penske Executive have been shown the door as the fallout continues from its latest saga. Two of its cars failed tech inspections after qualifying and have been sent to the back of the grid. Rusty steps through the past week (what the heck is an attenuator anyway?) and Roger Penske’s bid to restore integrity. You’ll hear a little of The Captain who spoke with Jamie Little for the Indycar on Fox coverage. Then Matt Hickey from Code Sports and the Daily Tele dials in for a preview of Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix. The bold pass by Max Verstappen on Oscar Piastri last week at Imola, Charles Leclerc’s chances of going back-to-back for Ferrari at this legendary race and how the driver’s gathered to preview the new F1 movie in the lead-up….except Max….he was busy iRacing. And what if we park all the neg on socials for a minute and just thought objectively, we’d see some real positives from James Warburton’s return to the top job in Supercars. Rusty shares his thoughts on Warbo’s 2nd coming and why it makes sense right now.Head to Rusty's Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and give us your feedback and let us know who you want to hear from on Rusty's Garage. In this episode of the Grip Strip Podcast, Austin Cindric wins the NASCAR Cup at Talladega, while Toyotas attempt to race around the half-throttle action. Austin Hill wins for the first time at Dega with a late yellow in XFinity. Cleetus McFarland gets a Top 10 in the ARCA race, which wasn't a total cluster. The announcing was also good since Jamie Little wasn't on the call. Thoughts about the "run what you brung" All-Star Race idea being canned along with Lionel halting die-cast production due to tariffs, but there are definitely other reasons. The podcast also reviews the NFL Draft for our teams and other key players, with the standout being Travis Hunter going to Duval. The GSP Roundup covers WRC Rally Islas Canarias, MotoGP/Moto2 at Jerez, NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at Charlotte, WSBK at Cremona, Formula E Monaco E-Prix, Indy NXT at Barber, F1 Academy at Miami. The guys preview and make picks for the F1 Grand Prix of Miami Preview, IndyCar at Barber, and NASCAR Tripleheader at Texas. Will Ed Carpenter put another car in the race or focus on the drivers already on his roster, including himself? The conversation expands into a larger one about total cars in the 500, teams, engines and drivers. In the second hour, Kevin and Curt begin with discussing Ross Chastain's gutsy move at the end of the NASCAR race in Martinsville and Tony Stewart's NHRA debut. Then, they discuss Roger Penske investigating more ovals on the IndyCar schedule and the locations the series is considering. Our guest is veteran motor sports reporter Jamie Little. Little joined FOX NASCAR in 2015 to cover pit road for the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series. Little was named in November 2020 as the play-by-play voice of the ARCA Menards Series, making her the first woman in history to call TV play-by-play for a national racing series. In October 2021, she was named to the prestigious Cynopsis 2021 Top Women in Media list in the Game-Changing On-Air Talent category. Little also serves as a reporter for NASCAR RACEDAY, FOX Sports' pre race show for the Cup Series. Her additional FOX NASCAR assignments over the years also have included select races and special events, including her pit reporting debut for the 2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona, hosting duties for FOX Sports' coverage of Supercross and periodic guest hosting roles on FS1's NASCAR RACE HUB.

Most recently, she became the play-by-play voice of the ARCA Menards Series, making her the first woman in history to call TV play-by-play for a national racing series. Little has been a NASCAR pit reporter for FOX Sports since 2015 and is now in her 21st year as a broadcaster. Simply put, she's amazing.

You've probably seen her on NASCAR's digital platforms, but Alex Weaver didn't grow up an avid follower of the sport. She joins Davey this week (8:20) to discuss her career path that began at Clemson University covering football and eventually led her to NASCAR. Despite being involved in sports from a young age, she almost pursued a career as a scientist before deciding otherwise. Working behind and in front of the camera at Clemson, she learned the tricks of the trade before trading in her purple and orange. Originally hired to work in the partnership division of the company, Weaver learned the ins and outs of NASCAR before dabbling in on-camera content. As she improved, her time on screen rose. She describes the challenges being a female in female dominated sport present (including when a driver tried to mansplain something to her), how she's leaned on broadcasters like Kaitlyn Vincie, Shannon Spake and Jamie Little among others and what interviews have been her most memorable. Plus, being a cat mom, her Chick-Fil-A obsession, being an Instagram influencer and what her future career aspirations look like. Davey touches on Kyle Larson's dominant performance at Sonoma for the second consecutive week, ponders what has happened to the All-Star Race and Papa Segal gives an ode to the No. 11.
TV personality and former Supercross announcer Jamie Little stops by to talk about everything "Beyond the Track" with Daniel Blair.

Motorsports broadcasting legend Jamie Little is back for a return visit on the pod after her history-making weekend, becoming the first woman to handle play-by-play duties for a national motorsports series. Davey and Jamie discuss why actually calling the ARCA Menards Series race live was easier than practicing in the weeks leading up, her insanely busy week covering all four series at Daytona, including yet another Great American Race. Little had the opportunity to interview the President of the United States last season, something that the White House personally asked her to do. She details what went into chatting with the POTUS and gets real about the important responsibility and struggle in covering death in motorsports, notably when her friend Dan Wheldon lost his life in 2011 at Las Vegas. From owning two Jimmy John's and Nothing Bundt Cakes franchises, Little somehow is in impeccable shape. She discusses entrepreneurship with her husband, Cody, her passion of working with dogs on "America's Top Dog" and differences between reporting on motorsports and the Westminster Dog Show, her cameos in Netflix's "The Crew" with Kevin James, Fantastic Four, being on the cover of a video game and more. Plus, after all she's accomplished and as she continues to break barriers, what's next for her? Michael McDowell is a Daytona 500 champion, but it's not all that surprising. Davey explains why the journeyman driver's triumph was a long time coming and shouldn't be a shock to NASCAR fans. He also recaps the entirety of Speedweek after being on site in Daytona, previews the DIS Road Course this weekend and hits on Lug Nuts. As a bonus, listen to hear Austin Cindric's favorite cut of beef...IYKYK. (For more on Jamie Little, check out Episode 86 in the archives!)

She’s been breaking barriers for the better part of two decades, and 2021 will be no different for Jamie Little. The FOX Sports reporter joins Davey (12:05) to discuss her career in racing, including how she got started in the industry and how being bold and brave led to her first professional opportunity in Supercross. As they say, the rest is history. From covering her first Indianapolis 500 for ESPN (and becoming the first female to do so) to paving the path for a plethora of other females in motorsports, Little hasn’t had much time to reflect on her accomplishments. But she does exactly that in this conversation while remaining humble and knowing there’s more left to do. Being named the first woman to call television play-by-play for a national racing series (ARCA) for the 2021 season comes with a unique set of challenges, in addition to learning a new skillset. Little details those, and explains why the timing was right to make this move. Little dives into how she’s been able to do her job flying solo due to COVID, with the aid of many group chats and people in her ear. Plus, that time when she beat Truck Series legend Mike Skinner in a Toyota Pro/Celebrity race and proved Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick wrong. Also, in this week’s Wayback segment, Papa Segal pays homage to a frequent visitor of the show (if you know, you know) and it went about as weirdly as you’d expect.

This badass woman learned from her mom to "say yes first and figure it out later". With that advice in mind, Jamie became the first pit reporter to cover the Indy 500 - and the first to cover the Daytona 500 and Indy 500 in the same year - and was the first female reporter in X Games history. But being the “first female” isn't necessarily what drives her. She's also a dog lover, cake baker and a franchisee (she and her husband own two Jimmy John's in Las Vegas and Nothing Bundt Cake in Indianapolis). She's a wife, a busy mom of 2 young kids and 4 rescue dogs. She's also a sideline reporter for America's Top Dog on A&E. But what really makes her happy? Having happiness, joy and balance.
