True freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier threw for 351 yards and two touchdowns, while wide receivers Chase Roberts and Parker Kingston each topped 100 yards. The win came before a sellout crowd of over 63,000 and drew national praise—Fox's Big Noon Kickoff called Bachmeier “the most impressive freshman in college football.”The show previews BYU's next challenge, a road test at Arizona. The Cougars lead the all-time series 13–12–1 and will face an explosive Wildcats offense led by quarterback Noah Fifita. BYU's defense remains elite, currently No. 1 in the nation in scoring defense and among the best in third-down stops. Blaine revisits his “keys to the game,” while Kalani Sitake's postgame soundbite sets the tone for what BYU must improve to keep their perfect record intact. The episode also features three special guests. Pat Patterson, BYU Alumni leader in Arizona, shares plans for the Tucson tailgate, fan service project, and Cougar Nation's desert takeover. Jimmer Fredette, BYU legend and new podcaster, joins from his home in Colorado to discuss BYU basketball's offseason success, the signing of No. 1 JUCO recruit KJ Perry, and his advice for players handling early hype. Finally, Jay Drew of the Deseret News reveals his five-game BYU football report card, grading every position group and offering his forecast for the Big 12 race. This week's Re-Lyte Athlete of the Week, presented by Redmond, honors Parker Kingston, who totaled 111 yards and two touchdowns in the win over West Virginia. Kingston is the only player in modern BYU history with a touchdown rushing, receiving, passing, and on a punt return. The episode closes with Grace Ninsiima, a BYU Pathway Worldwide graduate from Uganda, whose remarkable journey from poverty to success was featured in Jane Clayson Johnson's new BYUtv documentary Pathway to Hope. On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about a historic weekend for this Trojan football team, with the first ever true Big Ten road win, the longest weather delay for a USC football game and the largest Trojan to ever score a touchdown! Coach Hyde gets into USC's 33-17 win over Purdue in West Lafayette that puts the Trojans at 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The game wasn't as clean as the first two in the Coliseum, but to be able to get a victory on the road against an improved team under bizarre circumstances with the over three hour lightning delay shows this team has some resilience and is capable of battling through adversity. The guys talk about some of the huge plays in this game, including the 360-pound defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett plucking a tipped pass out of the air and returning it 70-yards for the touchdown. The Trojans have had some big man touchdowns over the years, but no one as big as Jah who showed some impressive speed on his interception return. They also discuss USC making its AP Poll top-25 debut at No. 25 and the highly anticipated game at Illinois getting Fox's Big Noon Kickoff treatment on September 27. Coach Harvey Hyde has been part of the Peristyle Podcast since 2008 and in the USC football world he is an expert on X's and O's, personnel, coaching philosophies and recruiting. Happy Labor Day! Today on "Fearless," we have a fast-paced show, with Jason bringing the heat, as always. Arch Manning is getting slandered across social media, with Shedeur Sanders' supporters leading the way? Whitlock brings receipts reminding that Shedeur also scuffled in big road games. After that, Jason explores Coach Prime's poor clock management, wasting valuable timen and keeping time-outs in his pocket as Colorado lost its season opener to Georgia Tech. Deion foolishly attempted to defend his mismanagement. Whitlock calls him out on it. Lee Corso was honored during his final "College GameDay" as a pioneer and galvanizing force for what became a college football tradition. Dave Portnoy's first appearance on "Big Noon Kickoff" had all the elements of a WWE sideshow. Corso has the credentials; Dave Portnoy is a degenerate gambler. Wrapping the show, Whitlock reviews Alabama's loss to Florida State. What does this mean for Alabama? Is this the result of zesty Ryan Williams failing to perform in another big game? Would Nick Saban return to Alabama? Is Jon Gruden a candidate? Many questions abound in Tuscaloosa, and Jason provides answers. Buckle up! It's going to be a great show!
