Being a part of community isn't required to practice BDSM, although it may seem like it due to visibility. What is important is knowing the positive and negative ways community influences the kink subculture. Yes, mainstream myths and stereotypes contribute to BDSM stigma, however, misleading info from the community causes harm too. On ep 188 of American Sex, Sunny Megatron & Kate Loree discuss this plus give advice on verifying the validity of educational info, sniffing out gatekeeping and “one twue wayisms,” doing effective gut checks in consent situations, and more. Sunny also discusses the far-reaching implications of overturning Roe vs. Wade & how the Earn It Act ties in.  Guest Bio – Sunny Megatron (Kink-Specific Bio) Sunny began teaching about BDSM in 2010. Her area of expertise is soft skills--which center around things like ethics, cultivating self-awareness, and strategies for effective communication. She received a FROST Certificate of Gratitude in 2020 honoring her service to the kink community, was voted XBIZ Sexpert of the year in 2021, Kinkly's sex blogging superhero in 2017, plus her alternative sexuality focused podcast American Sex won the AASECT podcast award in 2020. Sunny also creates curriculum & teaches about BDSM for sexuality educators, therapists, and care professionals including professional certification courses like the Sexual Health Alliance's Kink Informed Certification Program. With AI technology changing so quickly, we often need to step back and take a big picture look at the market. In this episode, Manoj Suvarna of Deloitte joins Frederic Van Haren and Stephen Foskett to discuss the many products and applications of AI in the enterprise. It is important for business executives to survey the many ways that AI and data science are being applied across the enterprise and try to find ways to leverage this work in other areas. Deloitte recently conducted a survey of companies around the world to get a sense of the many ways AI is being adopted. 92% of those surveyed said that AI is a competitive area these days, and 83% realize the value of multiple ecosystems. A majority of businesses see AI as a strategic differentiator that they want to invest in, while most of the rest are trying to determine the value of AI to the business. Stephen: Are there any jobs that will be completely eliminated by AI in the next five years? The Psychedelic Renaissance is well underway, but thirty years ago there was another revolution in psychiatry, the introduction of prozac, the first SSRI. Today's guest Dr Priya Parmar started her residency at that time but today she is ending her relationship with traditional psychiatry. Since 2017 she has been using ketamine in her practice which she feels is a potent frontline treatment for mental health disorders… with the caveat of the importance of integration. On the show Priya and I share a long preamble about the state of the American healthcare system and we talk about the crisis in confidence in Western medical authority. Priya explains why she started using ketamine and her particular protocol with the medicine. We discuss set and setting, group vs individual sessions, recreational use of ketamine, as well as tolerance and dependency. Finally Priya shares her passion for supporting patients in getting off of the antidepressants that were once heralded as a miraculous cure. Priya is a board certified psychiatrist in Los Angeles, California. After almost twenty years in a solo practice in San Francisco, she is now the CEO of State of Mind Wellness Center where she offers ketamine-assisted therapy based on the social theory of primates.
