Benchmarking Legal AI: Measuring the Delta Between Man and Machine (Anna Guo Legalbenchmarks.ai)

Is artificial intelligence custom-made for legal tasks better than general AI tools like Google Gemini and ChatGPT? That is the topic of this episode featuring Legalbenchmarks.ai Founder Anna Guo. Anna is a former BigLaw lawyer who left the practice to become an entrepreneur and now focuses her energies on quantifying the utility of AI in the legal industry. Anna's initial anecdotal research for colleagues quickly revealed a strong community interest in a systematic approach to evaluating legal AI tools. This led to the creation of Legalbenchmarks.AI, dedicated to finding out where the promise of humans plus AI is truly better than humans alone or AI alone. The core of the research involves measuring the "delta," or the extent to which AI can elevate human performance. To date, Legalbenchmarks.ai conducted two major studies: one on information extraction from legal sources and a second on contract review and redlining. Key Findings from the Studies: Accuracy vs. Qualitative Usefulness: The highest-performing general-purpose AI tools (like Gemini) were often found to be more accurate and consistent. However, the legal-specific AI tools often received higher marks in qualitative usefulness and helpfulness, as they align more closely with existing legal workflows. Methodology: The testing goes beyond simple accuracy. It includes a three-part assessment: Reliability (objective accuracy and legal adequacy), Usability (qualitative metrics like helpfulness and coherence for tasks such as brainstorming), and Platform Workflow Support (integration, citation checks, and other features). Human-AI Performance: In the contract analysis study, AI tools matched or exceeded the human baseline for reliability in producing first drafts. Crucially, the data demonstrated that the common belief that "human plus AI will always outperform AI alone" was false; the top-performing AI tool alone still had a higher accuracy rate than the human-plus-AI combo. Risk Analysis: A significant finding was that legal AI tools were better at flagging material risks, such as compliance or unenforceability issues in high-risk scenarios, that human lawyers missed entirely. This suggests AI can act as a crucial safety net. Strengths Comparison: AI excels at brainstorming, challenging human bias, and performing mass-scale routine tasks (e.g., mass contract review for simple terms). Humans retain a significant edge in ingesting nuanced context and making commercially reasonable decisions that AI's instruction-following can sometimes lack. Discussion Highlights: [0:00] – Introduction and background of Anna Guo and Legal Benchmarks AI. [4:30] – The impetus for starting systematic AI benchmarking. [6:00] – Explaining the concept of measuring the "delta" in performance. [9:00] – Detailed breakdown of the three-part AI assessment methodology. [15:00] – Discussion of the contrasting results: general LLM accuracy vs. legal AI qualitative value. [19:00] – Results on AI performance matching human reliability in contract drafting. [21:00] – Debunking the myth about Human + AI always outperforming AI alone. [23:00] – The finding that legal AI excels at surface material risks that lawyers miss. [27:00] – A SWOT analysis of when to use humans and when to use AI. [30:00] – Future roadmap for Legal Benchmarks AI research.

Thank you for joining us today. Our guest is at the sharp end of what makes a successful PR campaign tick in 2025: data and insight. She is the managing director of Censuswide, a respected international market research consultancy, who help agencies and brands write the headlines that drive media coverage. For years, PR has known that original research can fuel earned media coverage, but in the post-AI era, the need for credible, first-party data has never been more critical. And on the show today we're going to dive into the Censuswide's Voice of the CMO 2025 Report. The report is a crucial temperature check of how marketing leaders' roles and priorities are changing for 2026.This research zeroes in on the biggest tension facing the C-suite today: the massive adoption of Generative AI and the concurrent consumer skepticism about it. Nicky will help us dissect the findings that show 100% of CMOs are using AI, yet many are still struggling to connect their digital spend directly to long-term brand equity and sales growth. If you're an agency or an in-house leader looking to benchmark your strategy, understand the future of budget allocation, and learn how to navigate the complex world of brand activism, this report - and this conversation - are essential listening. What's great about this report is that it takes its research results from 500 CMOs and 2000 consumers, so you get perspectives on the same issues from both sides. The data was collected in June 2025.Before we start, our PR Masterclass the Agency Growth Forum is now live. And do these match the CMO perceptions? Why are customer expectations higher than ever? Ben and Nicky have a discussion on whether this is a symptom of the increasingly angry society we live in, fuelled by keyboard warriors answerable to no-one but the social media algorithms.Budget and Measurement are forever problems for CMOs, but what is different in 2025?What are the top 5 risks for CMOs right now? What are the top five priorities for CMOs at the moment? 313: Why DEI Pushback is a False Narrative with Nancy Levine Stearns

Nancy Levine Stearns, founder of ImpactDevise, a nonprofit journalism project, discusses the corporate response to the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) backlash. Stearns' project covers DEI initiatives in the private sector, and her reporting on corporate social responsibility has been cited by publications like The New York Times, NBC News, and Forbes. Stearns, a former executive recruiter, began focusing on the DEI space after the "heated" backlash following a recent election. She was initially intrigued by a story about Costco taking a public stance on DEI. This led her to discover that other companies were also standing firm on their commitments. Key Findings from Impactivize Corporate Commitment: Stearns and Impactivise track approximately 400 companies, including publicly traded, private, and large nonprofit organizations, that have made public commitments to DEI. A recent audit found that only two of these companies have completely removed their DEI statements. Stearns believes that a stated commitment is a bold and courageous decision, as it can make a company a target for anti-DEI groups. Shareholder Support: Stearns reports that in 2025, 30 anti-DEI proposals were put forth for shareholder voting at various corporations. Shareholders overwhelmingly rejected these proposals, typically by a margin of 98% to 99% of voting shares. Stearns notes that while shareholder rejection of outside proposals is common, the overwhelming margin of these votes is unusual. The Business Imperative: Stearns states that the primary reason companies are maintaining their DEI initiatives is because they recognize it as a "strategic imperative" and a "business imperative". She cites a statement from Rob Davis, the CEO of Merck, who called diversity and inclusion a strategic imperative. Stearns emphasizes that the data and metrics show that these initiatives positively impact a company's performance and bottom line. Shifting Language: Stearns acknowledges that some companies are changing the language they use to describe their initiatives, perhaps using terms like "belonging and inclusion" or "culture and engagement". However, she notes that adversarial groups, such as the Heritage Foundation, are aware of this change in terminology and still view these efforts as DEI. Consumer Influence: Stearns believes that consumers, particularly younger generations, are a powerful force in this movement. She suggests that consumers are "voting with their wallet" and supporting companies that have strong DEI commitments. This consumer support provides a "strength in numbers" for corporations, reinforcing their commitment. Stearns argues that while the media often focuses on the narrative that DEI is "dead," the data show that it is very much alive and supported by both corporations and consumers. She maintains that the business case for diversity and inclusion is a powerful and objective force, stating, "It's not political, it's not ideological, it's not personal, it's just, it's just business". Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) has published its Generative Artificial Intelligence Survey Report 2025, offering a data-rich snapshot of how generative AI (GenAI) is reshaping the Irish education landscape. The report draws on insights from over 2,200 staff and learners across further and higher education and the English language education sector. The first national survey of its kind in Ireland, the Generative Artificial Intelligence Survey Report 2025 outlines how generative AI is understood, used and perceived within educational settings, and its anticipated impact on teaching, learning, assessment and the workplace. Key Findings of the QQI report Limited awareness of institutional supports: both staff and learners indicated limited awareness and clarity of institutional policies or guidance on the use of GenAI, highlighting the importance of clearer strategies and more structured support. Urgent need for GenAI literacy: the report identifies a critical need for targeted training and digital upskilling to ensure that in cases where GenAI is applied in teaching and learning, that it is used ethically and effectively. Apprehension around GenAI used for admission processes: both staff and learners expressed discomfort with the possibility that GenAI could be used in admission processes, raising concerns about fairness and clarity. GenAI and academic integrity: about a third of staff and learners think it is appropriate for students to use GenAI tools in assessments; as long as they clearly explain how and why they used them. Impact of GenAI in assessment: many staff and learners believe that GenAI is very to extremely likely change how learners are assessed over the next five years. Worry regarding reduced credibility of qualifications: a significant number of both staff and learner respondents believe that trust in qualifications may decline if it becomes difficult to determine whether GenAI was used to obtain them. To support deeper engagement with the data, QQI has developed interactive dashboards that allow users to explore the survey findings in greater detail. These dashboards offer dynamic visualisations and filters, enabling employers, educators, and policymakers to examine trends by types of institutions, age, gender and role of respondents, and fields of education. This tool is designed to help stakeholders make informed decisions about workforce development, digital skills training, and strategic planning in response to the evolving role of generative AI. In this solo episode, Matej breaks down the new rules of user acquisition for mobile games in 2025, backed by real survey data from 20,000+ newsletter subs and hundreds of UA managers. Full report: https://lancaric.substack.com/p/q1-2025-brutally-honest-ua-reportFrom channel splits and rewarded UA to the creative volume arms race, fraud, AI hacks, and why your next UA hire needs to be a creative prompt engineer, nothing is off the table. This is the data-driven, brutally honest update the industry needs. What's inside:UA Channel Reality: Most studios still pump 80 percent of spend into Facebook and Google, even when running across nine channels and doing seven million a year. Some are forced to pause Facebook or shift heavy budgets to Applovin—yet diversification is still rare and risky.Rewarded UA Surge: Rewarded UA channels are exploding, with more vendors than ever. The scale is better, but fraud and LTV prediction remain massive headaches. Retention falls off after D7, so you need tougher targets, multi-step offers, and real post-install engagement to make the math work.Creative Arms Race: The volume of creatives needed has never been higher. The best ad-monetized games now pump out 2,000+ creatives a quarter—more shots on goal, more winners, and more chance to beat your “stuck” top creative. Iteration and refresh speed is everything.AI Eats Creative: AI-generated creatives, AI UGC, and meta-style hooks are not a trend—they're the new default. The best teams use AI to pump out, localize, and iterate hooks, voiceovers, and even UGC cameos faster than ever.Creative Testing & Skills: Most teams test new creatives by launching them straight into BAU (business as usual) campaigns, rather than in separate tests. TikTok and Apple, not just Facebook, are where new winners show up. If your UA manager can't write a killer AI prompt, you're already behind.Key Takeaway:2025 is not about more channels or smarter spend—it's about creative firepower, AI leverage, and hiring UA pros who are part prompt engineer, part analyst, part storyteller. Let's talk about the trends, but first, some housekeeping with some numbers: A total of 1,732 data compromises were reported in the first half of 2025, resulting in a little more than 165.7 million breach notices. That's about five percent ahead of where we were at this time last year in terms of compromises. Life is Just One Big Marshmallow Test - Ep #86

Welcome to episode 86 of the One for the Money podcast. In the late 1960s and early 70s, a famous psychological study was conducted that has since been called the Stanford Marshmallow test. The study was designed to explore the concept of delayed gratification. In this episode, I'll share how life might be considered one giant marshmallow test.In the tips, tricks, and strategies portion, I will share a tip regarding how to not eat the entire marshmallow. In this episode...The Marshmallow Test [0:36]Delayed Gratification in Personal Finance [2:23]Investing Rewards Patience [10:01]Teaching Financial Discipline [10:46]In the late 1960s and early 70s, a psychologist named Walter Mischel at Stanford University conducted what has become a famous psychological study. The study was designed to explore the concept of delayed gratification — the ability to resist the temptation for an immediate reward in order to receive a larger reward a short time later. Here is how the Experiment was set up:600 preschool-aged children, roughly 4-6 years old, participated in the study. Each child was placed in a room with a marshmallow placed on a table. The researcher told the child that they could either eat the marshmallow immediately or wait 15 minutes without eating it. If they waited without eating the marshmallow, they would be rewarded with a second marshmallow. The researcher then left the room, leaving the child alone with the first marshmallow. The Key Findings as a result of this research were that Individuals had varied Self-Control: Some children immediately ate the marshmallow, while others were able to wait the full 15 minutes for the larger reward. Now you might be wondering what a 4-6-year-old eating a marshmallow has to do with personal finance? Well, that's what was most remarkable about this study was what the follow-up studies revealed. The outcomes were very successful at Predicting Future Outcomes: Over the subsequent decades, Mischel and his colleagues followed up with many of the children who participated in the experiment, and the results were astounding:It found that the children who were able to wait for the second marshmallow, decades later, tended to have significantly better life outcomes in terms of higher SAT scores, lower rates of obesity, more likely to be financially stable as well as to have greater job satisfaction. The ability to delay gratification was a more accurate predictor of future success than their scores on an IQ test. Now it should be noted that while the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment became a widely discussed study about the power of self-control, later research showed that the environment in which a child grows up, including factors like trust in caregivers, socioeconomic status, and stability, can influence how well they are able to delay gratification. For instance, children in more unstable environments may have less reason to trust that the promised later reward will actually come. But suffice it to say, the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment remains one of the most influential studies in psychology, because it exposed the impact that self-control has on later life outcomes.I've read about this study numerous times over the years, but recently it has led me to this thought: is life really just one giant marshmallow test? Is delaying gratification part of the better planning one needs to implement to have a WAY better life?As I thought about this more, I came to the belief that generally speaking, life is one giant marshmallow test and that individuals can both learn and develop the skills so they too can have much better life outcomes. It also seems to me that businesses and politicians can hijack our desires for immediate gratification to their advantage.Individuals...

Brian emphasizes that young adults will encounter pornography, often leading to shame and guilt. He highlights the importance of understanding the motivations behind pornography use, which can range from curiosity to emotional coping mechanisms. Brian also addresses the stigma surrounding addiction labels. He explains that only about 10% of users experience compulsive behavior, while many others face problematic use. Church leaders should focus on creating a safe environment for youth to discuss these issues. By asking questions about triggers and providing coping strategies, leaders can help youth navigate their experiences.
