Researchers are increasingly partnering with patients, clinicians and others who use research to design, conduct, report and disseminate research studies. Today we hear about a conversation that involved over 600 patients, clinicians and carers, who were supported to nominate their top priorities for research on shoulder pain. Kristian Lyng (physiotherapst, PhD student at Aalborg University's Department of Health Science and Technology, and Center for General Practice) led the work as part of his PhD research looking at interventions for shared decision-making in collaboration with patients with subacromial pain syndrome. Kristian discusses the challenges and opportunities in translating research to clinical practice, and the benefits to researchers of engaging patients and the public in doing musculoskeletal research. ------------------------------ RESOURCES Research priorities for atraumatic shoulder pain: https://www.jospt.org/doi/10.2519/jospt.2025.13059 Patients as partners in research - It's the right thing to do: https://www.jospt.org/doi/10.2519/jospt.2019.0106 Help for researchers wanting to engage patients as research partners: https://www.jospt.org/doi/10.2519/jospt.2020.0104 How to talk about compensation with patient partners: https://www.jospt.org/doi/10.2519/jospt.2020.0106 Engaging patients and the public in musculoskeletal research: https://www.jospt.org/doi/10.2519/jospt.2024.12668

Former teacher and Wexford hurling captain, Diarmuid Lyng joins me to talk about his exciting new project, ‘The Wonders of the Wild,' and his fresh vision for exploring nature in a way that's both educational and inspiring.
Home is where the heart is, but what if your home was the heart of the cultural revival? Well, that's what Diarmuid Lyng, Owner of Wild Irish Retreats and former Wexford Hurler is offering with his new fundraiser to buy a space in Kilkenny.Diarmuid Lyng joins Kieran to tell more.
He was the star hurler who gave it all up to travel across Asia, spending months meditating in a Buddhist temple in Thailand, then returning home to live in the wilds of Kerry and become a champion of Irish culture, language and spiritualism. Diarmuid Lyng's life has been far from conventional. Diarmuid has spent a lot of time thinking about his life and his purpose in life – and he has had the courage to make some very difficult decisions in order to stay true to himself and what he believes he has been put on this earth to do. This episode of The Mario Rosenstock Podcast gets quite deep at times, but we also have some great laughs and get stuck in to things like the madness of hurling,, the beauty of the irish language , and Diarmuid's creative crowd-funding idea for finding a permanent home for his wild Irish family (CLICK HERE to learn more about that)COMEDY: Racing time, and the ‘What the hell is going on in world markets' handicap hurdle is about to get started…Produced by Patrick Haughey, AudioBrand

In March, I found myself at a retreat in the Wicklow mountains, facilitated by Diarmuid Lyng and Michael Ryan. An entirely transformative experience and one that I felt the need to share through a discussion with Diarmuid - Wexford County Hurler, TG4 Commentator, retreat facilitator, husband, father and builder of a cultural facility in south Kilkenny. The podcast covers alot of ground but is centred around the Summer Nature of Man retreat in Donegal 6th to 9th June 2025 - and the myriad reasons why some of you should attend. www.diarmuidlyng.ie will offer more detailed information on the retreat and the other projects that Diarmuid is involved in. The poet mentioned (I know) is David Whyte, the poem Self Portrait. I hope you enjoy - and if you do please feel free to share with those who might benefit from the retreat. Thanks for reading.

Marv and I are joined by Eoghan Lyng and Ken Michaels to discuss the "Living in the Material World" album with an emphasis on the 50th Anniversary remix as found on the "Super Deluxe Edition". Ken rates the record at the very top, but in general the reviews over the years have been on the positive side, but perhaps less than ecstatic.

He is a former Wexford hurling captain and a host on Newstalk's flagship sports programme 'Off the Ball'. With Wild Irish Retreats he is part of a team that is focused on the rejuvenation of the Irish language in relation to nature reconnection. With Nature of Man he runs retreats and online programmes with men that creates a space for them to do their own internal spiritual work. He also takes teams/groups of all kinds to the woods for overnight camps that focus on connection; to self, teammate and place. In this enlivening conversation, Diarmuid shares with us his unfolding path of purpose. We explore experiences of being truly listened to, of generosity of spirit, receiving love and developing self-acceptance. At long last we finally got around to recording this one! Author and Music Journalist Mr. Eoghan Lyng (Culture Sonar/Stripped), U2 On Track, George Harrison In The 1970s, joins Andy and Tom for Episode 261. In Part III of the Paul and George relationship we examine their mainly George's icy comments directed at Paul between the years 1982 and 1988. A lot happened during this interval of time. Yoko, George and Ringo discovered the infamous "McCartney Clause" in 1983 setting off a series of lawsuits which ultimately resulted in Paul not attending the Beatles 1988 Induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. George's comments on Broad Street, George's continued projects with HandMade Films as well as his commercial success with Cloud Nine are discussed in this episode with Eoghan. We will likely wrap up this series sometime in 2025 with a fourth and final installment which will carry us through the 1990s, Anthology, George's untimely passing in 2001, culminating with the celebration of life that was/is the Concert For George in November 2002. This week on 2Legs we were delighted to have back Mr. Eoghan Lyng (Author: George Harrison in the 1970s, U2onTrack) and contributor to publications Culture Sonar, Penny Black Music and Far Out Magazine for Part II of our "Deep Dive" on the Paul & George relationship. This installment centres on the years 1976 to 1981. While not a prolific period of trading barbs between the two but there are some nice quotes from the pair during this interval. We discuss among other topics, the 1978 Rutles Film All You Need Is Cash and Paul's response to it, Ringo's wedding and working together in 1981 for 'All Those Years Ago'. Eoghan also recently interviewed Genesis Guitarist Steve Hackett. (Link Below) We definitely have enough "legs" for a part 3 as we progress through the 1980s.
