On this episode of Talking Buffalo, The Buffalo Bills and Sabres had separate social media posts commemorating events that fans absolutely tore into inside the comments, and Patrick Moran reads many of them off, some hilariously funny and others downright mean. Terry and Kim Pegula just past the 10 year mark as owners of the Bills, while Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams celebrated his 50th birthday. Both were acknowledged via posts by their respective social media departments. Predictably, annoyed/angry fans got at them, spewing comments that range from comical to borderline cringe. Patrick decided today was a good day to something different and essentially dedicate an entire episode reading off several of the comments. Among them on the Pegula side is fans urging him/them to sell the team, accusing him of ruining Josh Allen's team, funding a stadium on the state's dime, being an absentee owner and a really good reference from the movie Caddyshack. That's nothing compared to Adams, who had people saying they hoped his birthday sucked, wondering if he had a party with the millions of cap space the Sabres still have, wanting him Robert Saleh'd, accused of having his thumb up his butt and someone who simply used a middle finger emoticon instead of saying Happy Birthday. All that and more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens and Joe reveals his 2024 Buffalo Bills Training Camp Bingo Board, a (mostly) satiric look at many of the things going on during Bills camp. There's not many people out there that despite the bells and whistles that come with Bills camp more than Joe and that's apparent as he goes through his board, taking subtle (sometimes more than subtle) shots and many topics and people (including Patrick) throughout. They include Josh Allen autograph content, outlets angry at national opinions of Allen, Terry Pegula's bucket hat, local media food and golf pics, general overreactions and Patrick pandering for camp tickets. They also spend some time talking a handful of more meaningful topics, including a Tim Graham story that caused a stir within the organization and led to Graham clarifying comments on Josh Allen. They also discuss Kim Pegula making a training camp appearance and photographs of it out there, including intimate photos and video from the Bills social media outlet themselves. That plus some development at camp through four practices and plenty more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens for a conversation on a handful of topics, highlighted by the Buffalo Bills wide receiver room and where it stands compared to its peers around the league. Patrick went through each team around the look and took a look at the top four wide receivers on each of their depth charts. In the end he created a power ranking for all 32 teams in addition to putting them in six separate tiers---as the difference between being ranked 13th to 20th feels a lot more distant than it actually is. In compiling the list he took into account their current talent, projected talent going forward and what teams he'd be willing to trade the Buffalo wide receiver room for. Patrick's assessment concludes that the Bills top four of Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Mack Hollins slides into the fifth of six tiers and more specifically ranks just 25th out of 32 teams. The guys have a conversation about the Bills group, where they slot in on the chart and how much more could they realistically rise in the reasonably near future. Also, Tim Graham of The Athletic recently posted a fascinating story about the Pegula's, including the revelation that Kim Pegula is now legally incapacitated with Terry as the guardian in addition to Terry's daughter Laura playing a much more prominent role in the the Bills and Buffalo Sabres organization than almost anyone knew about. Tim followed it up with several interesting viewpoints on his Tim Graham and Friends podcast and the guys have several thoughts on this story that's starting to have the feel of a HBO drama. That plus Joe wants to know if Bills fans are going to obsess more over what Stefon Diggs does in Houston or Xavier Worthy does with Kansas City, Patrick absolutely can't stand the Bills Chase Claypool signing and much more. Jessica Pegula, the No. 1 American-ranked women's tennis player and the daughter of Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula, speaks on Tuesday while visiting Bills practice in Orchard Park.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses some of his observations and biggest takeaways from Buffalo Bills training camp practice over the weekend and through the four practices he's been in attendance for so far. On the offensive side of the ball Patrick has thoughts on the competition between Ryan Bates and O'Cyrus Torrence at right guard being far from formally settled although he has an idea of who he thinks will start. He also has observed great camps from Gabe Davis and James Cook while not being as high on a handful of offensive lineman and saving his harshest criticisms for the quarterbacks behind Josh Allen. Defensively Patrick points out a great showing from cornerback Christian Benford, a budding roster spot competition between Jordan Phillips & Tim Settle, how Taylor Rapp may be deployed and more. Before leaving Patrick also points out Kim Pegula being in attendance, the relationship between Allen/Stefon Diggs blossoming and a funny physical comparison involving Bills beat reporter Sal Capaccio. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatMoranTweets. The Financial Guys, Glenn Wiggle and Mike Lomas, are filling in for Bob while he is on vacation. They talked about Kim Pegula, the vaccine, COVID, and the insurrection.
On this bonus Thursday episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest Joe from Queens (@BuffaloWins) to discuss some of their biggest Buffalo Bills 2022 takeaways now that the NFL season is officially over as well as taking a look at what could be loaded AFC east in 2023. Never one to mince his words on the podcast, Joe has a handful of takeaways from the Bills season including imploring them to spend big on offense while Patrick keeps coming back to the blown game against Minnesota as the catalyst for the season ultimately not turning out how Bills fans hoped. They also talk about how Miami and the New York Jets could potentially be just as good as Buffalo next year, react to the recent Kim Pegula news, other media notes and much more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatMoranTweets. Now that salary cap numbers have been released for the 2023 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills are $20.5 million over the cap. With $10 million needed for signing rookies, the situation looks far worse than it is. However, hosts Jamie D'Amico and big Chris Newton believe the Bills' salary cap situation is more than manageable. They break down potential cuts and provide details on which contracts will likely be renegotiated by General Manager Brandon Bean. D'Amico and Newton discuss whether the amount of money available will allow the Bills to be players in free agency this offseason. Other topics include the health status of co-owner Kim Pegula--as written about in The Players' Tribune by her daughter and professional tennis star Jessica Pegula, the Pro Bowl, and Super Bowl predictions. Jamie D & Big Newt is a podcast that talks Buffalo Bills every other week in the offseason; every week during the footballs season. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, it's Casual Friday which means Patrick Moran is joined by Aaron Quinn (Cover 1) to discuss a variety of topics, including if Gabe Davis is good enough to give the Buffalo Bills what they need and if the term "WR2" isn't as significant as it sounds. A hot button conversation making the rounds with Bills fans right now is Davis and if the Bills need to make getting an upgrade at starting receiver alongside Stefon Diggs a big offseason priority. Both the guys have plenty of thoughts on this as well as the actual significant of a guy called "WR2" and other things going on with the Buffalo offense including the future roles of Khalil Shaker and Isaiah McKenzie. They also talk about Lebron James becoming the NBA all-time scoring leader this week and the unavoidable Lebon vs MJ debate, something Patrick especially hates. That plus reaction to the Kim Pegula health update, Aaron Rodgers messing with Green Bay fans yet again, their “Finish the Sentence” segment and much more. It's Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by Noted Hockey author and Maintenance Day podcaster Joe Yerdon to discuss several topics, including the Buffalo Sabres re-signing goaltender Craig Anderson and how that may affect what they do this summer, reaction from their Kim Pegula conversation last week and this week's “Starting Five” draft of Best All-Time NFL Quarterbacks. Buffalo re-signed Anderson to a one year deal this week at double his previous salary. What does this mean for Anderson, UPL and what the Sabres may do this summer at the position from the outside? The guys talk about it and why getting this right is as crucial as anything the organization does in building a winner. The guys also discuss blowback from their candid conversation on Kim Pegula's medical condition, Patrick's Bills All-Time players series he recently started and how the media should be covering teams in 2022. Of course there's the “Starting Five” draft, this week focused on Best Fast Food Chains. All that and much more. Bob talks about Kim Pegula and her condition.
It's Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by Noted Hockey author and Maintenance Day podcaster Joe Yerdon to discuss several topics, including wondering why BillsMafia and so many fans (and gambling sights) around the league are sleeping on the AFC defending champion Cincinnati Bengals, parallels between the Buffalo Bills and Colorado Avalanche, exploring what's the proper way to cover something significantly newsworthy like Kim Pegula's medical condition, and this week's “Starting Five” draft of Best All-Time NFL Quarterbacks. The Bengals, despite nearly winning the Super Bowl last year with a young and ascending nucleus not to mention adding greatly to their offensive line in the offseason is the only 11th biggest favorite win the Super Bowl this year and just sixth-best in the AFC. The guys want to know why and Patrick's downright confused by it. They also spend time talking journalistic integrity, the PGA Tour looking like they could be in trouble and tons more. On this episode of the future-award winning Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran has a chat with friend and recurring guest Joe from Queens on a variety of topics highlighted by a discussion that intentionally plays devil's advocate to the Buffalo Bills Super Bowl chances this coming season. The Bills went 13-3 last year, made the AFC championship game and by nearly all accounts are among the strongest favorites to represent the conference in the Super Bowl. However, whether fans like it or not there's reasons that provide skepticism to the 2021 Bills and the guys dive into some worrisome items. Among them are questions on how much the offensive line, running backs and tight ends will improve given it's essentially the same cast of characters returning, as well as questions about the short term pass rush and being seemingly poised to run it back with Levi Wallace at cornerback alongside Tre White. They also spend some time talking about fans once again making their presence felt at sporting events, examining whether Rueben Brown or Eric Moulds are more worthy of going into the Bills Wall of Fame and Joe has a take on Buffalo Bills/Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula.
