Have you ever thought bravery was something some people were just born with? That it only shows up during a crisis - or that it's not really relevant to your everyday life or work? My guest on this episode of The Ambitious Introvert® is here to challenge all of that!Jim Moorhead is a keynote speaker, bestselling author, and trusted advisor to Fortune 500 companies. Drawing from his background as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, investment banker at Goldman Sachs, and law firm partner, he's developed a powerful framework for building and modeling bravery - both personally and organizationally. His book, The Instant Survivor: Right Ways to Respond When Things Go Wrong, is a go-to guide for responding to adversity with grounded, intentional action. In this episode, Jim breaks down the biggest myths around bravery, how leaders and teams can cultivate it (yes, it's learnable!), and why consistent small brave actions matter far more than one-off heroics. Whether you're leading a business, working in a team, or simply trying to show up more fully for yourself, you'll take something away from this conversation.Tune in to hear:Bravery isn't innate - it's a skill you can build over timeMisconceptions about bravery that are holding people and companies backHow companies that talk about, model, and reward bravery create space for innovationWhy naming and celebrating bravery helps reinforce it across teams and culturesWays to be brave every single day - no crisis required! If you've ever told yourself you're "just not brave", this episode is your invitation to rethink that entirely.LINKS AND RESOURCES:

Let's Go Again: A Philosophical and Practical Guide for Indie Creatives

Cue the air horns!SEASON TWO OF LET'S GO AGAIN HAS ARRIVED!This season of LGA has a very specific flavor: let's call it Ghost Pepper. It might sting a little, but it's also going to clear your sinuses and reveal that your lungs have about 15% more capacity than you originally thought. The deep breaths will just be that deep. With this season, I have one very specific intent: to convince as many independent artists as possible that they are holding a stacked hand. And then, to play it.Is this Self-Help? Is this Motivational Speaking? Is this Warm and Fuzzy Feel Good Stuff™?No.K, then what is?This, as the subtitle alludes to, is a philosophical and practical guide for indie creatives. Not only will we discuss how-to kinds of things:* tending to the long term artist-audience relationship* figuring out your content plan vs. art plan* how to write cold emails that you actually feel PROUD OF* the revenue *right in front of you* (on THAT table, yes)* making industry connections in a way that doesn't induce a shame spiralBut ALSO things like:* how applying an intentional infrastructure to your career is a safeguard against crazy dystopian uncertainty* building new worlds, universes, and thought patterns in the collective so we can have nice things again* the role of the artist in society* the way making art ends up making social media and other annoying non-negotiable things both irrelevant and negotiableAnd a plethora of other surprises along the way!IN TODAY'S EPISODE, we'll answer these questions:* What do you actually want from “breaking in” to the [insert your industry (mine is film) here]?* How'd people be artists in the 20th century?* How're people being artists now, in the 21st century?* What do we have to embrace/reject to be a 21st Century Artist?* What does writing have to do with getting attention?* What's the big mistake when it comes to posting your work?* Is teaching the only way to make money as an indie artist?* Why is a POV so important for indie artists?* What is the ultimate goal of working outside of the system? One last thing, if you like this episode…Please consider texting it to a friend. :)Okay! That's it!Enjoy! Up In The Air, boring or not, is this week's question. Why do I find this movie interesting, and why does Valerie find it boring? A Note from James:Ryan Estis is potentially the most successful public speaker worldwide. I've known him for about a decade, thanks to our mutual friend Scott Cohen, who has appeared on this podcast several times and is an outstanding entrepreneur.Over the years, Ryan and I have developed a strong friendship, partly due to our connection with Scott. Ryan is an exceptional public speaker, known for his inspirational talks. He possesses a wealth of knowledge in business, sales, and global affairs, speaking at various events worldwide.Recently, he co-authored a book with his brother Chad, an executive with several sports teams, including the Cowboys. The book, titled "Prepare for Impact," features many compelling stories. I particularly recommend the "30 Steps to Success" section, which encourages readers to devise their strategies for success.I was curious to learn how Ryan became a top public speaker, including how he started his career, increased his fees, and gained the confidence to work independently. I also wondered about his future plans, especially how he intends to adapt his career as he ages and possibly reduce his travel for speaking engagements. These inquiries, while specific to Ryan, are relevant across all industries for professionals considering the future of their careers, wealth, and success. It was a great pleasure to speak with my friend Ryan Estis. His insights, shared in our conversation and in his book "Prepare for Impact," are sure to inspire many. Episode Description:This podcast episode features a comprehensive conversation with Ryan Estis, celebrated as one of the most successful public speakers globally. The discussion touches upon Ryan's journey from a prolific sales professional to a distinguished public speaker and author. James and Ryan explore the essence of Ryan's new book, 'Prepare for Impact,' co-authored with his brother Chad, who has an extensive executive background in sports management. The book encapsulates 30 steps to success, offering insightful advice on professional growth and human-centered leadership. Beyond discussing his literary work, Ryan delves into the nuances of public speaking, including his start, evolving fee structures, branching out on his own, and envisioning a future where he doesn't have to travel as intensely. They also discuss the implications of aging on career and life choices, reflecting on personal development and shifting from proving to giving back to the community. The conversation further explores Ryan's new venture, ImpactEleven, which aims to support and accelerate the growth of public speakers, and contemplates the transformative impacts of global crises on personal and professional reinvention. Episode Summary:00:00 Introduction to Ryan Estis: The Public Speaking Prodigy03:07 The Art of Public Speaking: Ryan's Path to Mastery08:23 Navigating Career Transitions: From Sales to the Stage08:52 Building a Speaking Career: Strategies and Breakthroughs19:03 The Power of Free Gigs: Establishing Credibility and Demand26:40 Maintaining Integrity and Navigating Imposter Syndrome28:19 Navigating the World of Public Speaking29:37 Overcoming Stage Fright and Idolization32:50 The Impact of COVID-19 on a Speaking Career34:50 The Genesis of ImpactEleven: A New Venture36:10 Expanding Beyond Public Speaking48:13 Reflecting on Personal Growth and Future Aspirations54:12 The Evolution of Success and the Importance of Giving BackLinks:Check our Prepare for Impact Here: "Prepare for Impact"Official Website: ryanestis.comImpactEleven Official Website: ImpactElevenTwitter: Ryan Estis on TwitterLinkedIn: Ryan Estis on LinkedInInstagram: Ryan Estis on Instagram ------------What do YOU think of the show?
