One that has characters you fall in love with. And the Bad Batch was just that. A found family of brothers, a sister, and all sorts of adventure. But there's sunlight in the sky, instead of a broody, overcast day, as the team survives their final battle...and completes their last mission. Save Omega. Save their brothers. And stop Hemlock. It all worked out ok in the end. And so maybe we don't bid farewell, maybe it's see ya later instead...as we watch Omega fly away to join the rebellion as a pilot. The galaxy is a lot darker tonight.... In Identity Crisis, The Bad Batch goes into some gloomy territory with the stories of this double episode, as we see just what Hemlock is up to in his experiments. Kids are being kept as specimens, used for their blood and treated like lab rats. Emerie Karr gets promoted to Chief Science Officer, and finds out what Nala Se was working on...or who rather once she gains access to the vault. She isn't comfortable with the situation, but feels powerless to do anything. Moving into Point of No Return, we are met with the most tense episode yet, as Pabu is invaded when the operative finds out where Omega is hiding! He brings a full assault on the peaceful island and will stop at nothing to capture her. Things do no end well, as we see the team fail in keeping Omega safe, and once again she becomes a prisoner of Hemlock. How will the team find her now? Send in your thoughts to the show! Bad Batch delivers another 2-pack of episodes in its final season with "Identity Crisis" and "Point of No Return". "Indentity Crisis" delivers one of the best episodes of the series with its grim tone and fantastic atmospheric storytelling. Emri's character has been a highlight of the season and I can't wait to see what she does next. "Point of No Return" sees us back on Pabu as the Empire closes in on Omega. This episode was solid but felt like it pulled its punch a bit when it came to stakes. Hear all my thoughts and analysis on these two episodes. Enjoy!Follow on Instagram: @star_wars_markofbalance
Emerie Karr takes over the Empire's cloning mission, but she's not ready for what she learns in the process. Meanwhile, the Bad Batch has to defend Pabu from becoming the next world to fall.
11 episodes down and, unfortunately, only four to go. "Identity Crisis" gave us the first episode of the season - possibly the entire series - that doesn't feature any member of The Batch. And what an incredible episode it was as Emrie finds herself as the head of Project Necromancer. "Point of No Return" saw CX-2 finally arrive on Pabu, decimating The Batch in a surprise attack (RIP Marauder). In a word, we're both pretty numb (and honestly, in awe because these episodes were stellar). We cover everything there is to cover with these two episodes including our theories for what's to come. Dr. Emerie Karr wrestles with the treatment of Force sensitive children at Mount Tantiss, and the Bad Batch attempt to escape from the Empire on Pabu in the two most recent episodes of The Bad Batch.
This final season of 'The Bad Batch' is coming at us fast. It was less than a month ago that we were treated to a dramatic two-part episode that left the team reeling, and now again this week another two-part episode drops, and it's another doozy. First, with "Identity Crises" we spend time back on Tantiss with Doctor Emerie Karr as she takes over for Nala Se on Project Necromancer. It's the first time a current or former member of The Batch doesn't appear on screen, as we instead spend the entire episode on Tantiss learning more about the insidious work being done there. It's gripping dramatic television. Next, with "Point of No Return", the stakes ramp up to 1000 as the Empire strikes out against Pabu in an attempt to recapture Omega. The action here is stunning and where the episode leaves off sets up a thrilling final few episodes as we lead into the series finale.
The galaxy is once again plunged into turmoil as dark forces tighten their grip. In "Identity Crisis", the ominous specter of the Empire's past rears its head in the form of a sinister project aimed at children with high M-counts, echoing the days of Jedi hunting. Amidst this backdrop, the return of the notorious Cad Bane adds another layer of tension as he procures a young child for nefarious experiments. Meanwhile, Emerie, with a haunting past of her own, finds herself torn between loyalty to the Empire and her burgeoning empathy for the innocent victims of its atrocities. As the story unfolds in "Point of No Return", the hunt for Omega intensifies, leading to a devastating confrontation in the peaceful town of Pabu. Chaos erupts as bombs detonate, homes burn, and the Imperials descend upon the unsuspecting populace. Amidst the chaos, Omega grapples with guilt over the destruction wrought upon Pabu, while the larger mission to outmaneuver the Empire takes center stage. In a daring gambit, Omega surrenders herself in a bid to plant a crucial tracking device, while Crosshair, amidst a storm of blaster fire, struggles to carry out the plan.Through pulse-pounding action and heartfelt moments of introspection, these episodes explore themes of identity, sacrifice, and the eternal struggle between tyranny and freedom in a galaxy on the brink. As the stakes escalate and loyalties are tested, the fate of Omega and her companions hangs in the balance, with the shadow of the Empire looming ever larger on the horizon.

Before turning to the currently releasing third season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Hyperspace Theories podcast returns to the concluding episodes of Season Two. Having previously analyzed the first ten episodes, Tricia Barr and B.J. Priester discuss episodes 11 through 16, starting with “Metamorphosis” and “The Outpost” and ending with Tech's (apparent) self-sacrifice by implementing the tragic “Plan 99” during the squad's fateful mission to Tarkin's base on Eriadu. On the theme of metamorphosis and transformation, we consider the introduction of Doctor Hemlock as the Batch's new primary antagonist, the significance of Crosshair's realization that the clones are expendable to the Empire, how the Batch's experience on Pabu provides a new perspective for their understanding of their place in a changing galaxy, and the increasing stakes for the Bad Batch and all of the clones as the threat posed by Hemlock becomes clearer. We also examine the visual symbolism throughout these episodes, particularly the significance of water and Crosshair's ice vulture, as well as the themes presented in the sometimes conflicting motivations of the Bad Batch, Rex and Echo, Saw Gerrera, and within the Empire itself. The exciting escape last week left us with the unresolved conflict between Crosshair and the rest of his former squad. In the podcast we discussed how it would be a good idea for the show to slow down for a moment and let Crosshair hash things out with Hunter and Wrecker before jumping back into a larger plot driven narrative. Fortunately it seems like the folks over at Lucasfilm Animation were way ahead of us, as they did just that this week. With a return to Pabu for a reset, the team meets up with Echo to gather additional intel on the whereabouts of Tantiss. The mission takes Crosshair back to the events of "The Outpost" for a spiritual sequel, which feels more than appropriate considering where Crosshair is now in his character arc. Julian and Rachel break down every moment of discord whilst Crosshair does the difficult work of earning back trust.
