Mallory SoRelle says no. SoRelle is an assistant professor of public policy at Duke University and author of “Democracy Declined: The Failed Politics of Consumer Financial Protection.” She explains that only Congress can shutter the agency. La follia e i deliri che hanno caratterizzato gli ultimi anni di vita di Ferdinando Palasciano, medico vissuto alla fine dell'800, sono al centro del romanzo "Di spalle a questo mondo" (Neri Pozza) di Wanda Marasco. Con una prosa lirica, un lessico ricercato e uno stile immaginifico, l'autrice racconta in un mix di realtà e fantasia la vita di Palasciano, una vita ossessionata dall'idea della cura: voleva curare tutti anche i poveri e i nemici in guerra (cosa che fece e per la quale fu condannato a morte ricevendo poi la grazia dal Re). Il racconto parte il 2 novembre del 1887 quando, dopo l'ennesimo delirio, la moglie Olga fece internare Ferdinando. Nel romanzo si intrecciano così la narrazione del dolore mentale e il racconto del passato sia di Ferdinando che di Olga, arrivata a Napoli dalla Russia dove aveva vissuto un'infanzia durissima con la madre affetta da disturbi psichici. Nella seconda parte parliamo di "Le sorelle di Lisistrata" (Mondadori), nuovo romanzo di Federico Baccomo che aveva esordito nel 2009 con "Studio illegale" diventato anche un film. L'ironia è da sempre una caratteristica che contraddistingue il lavoro di Baccomo (è anche sceneggiatore di Call My Agent Italia), ma in questo romanzo cede quasi subito il passo al sarcasmo e rapidamente quella che sembra essere una commedia pungente scivola nel dramma e diventa tragedia. L'autore immagina un'Italia in cui il Parlamento approva una legge che rende illegale l'interruzione volontaria di gravidanza. Una giovane deputata dell'opposizione, Gaia Zavattini, lancia sui social una provocazione: ipotizza uno sciopero del sesso come aveva fatto Lisistrata, personaggio di una commedia di Aristofane, per costringere gli uomini, ateniesi e spartani, a interrompere la guerra. In questo caso la protesta è per far cancellare questa legge. Da qui una spirale di eventi che portano al dramma. Un romanzo che fa un'analisi spietata della società patriarcale, una feroce disamina dei meccanismi dei social, delle ipocrisie dei politici, della manipolazione della comunicazione.

Monica Sorelle is a Haitian-American filmmaker from Miami. Her first feature film, Mountains, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. It follows a construction worker whose job is to demolish homes in his own neighborhood, Little Haiti.

"Sorelle - Una storia di Sara" (Rizzoli) è il sesto romanzo con protagonista Sara Morozzi, personaggio creato dalla penna di Maurizio de Giovanni, comparso per la prima volta nel 2018. Sara era stata un'agente dei servizi e ha una grande capacità: interpretare il linguaggio del corpo. Ha un passato pieno di sofferenze, ma anche di sensi di colpa e ora le rimangono pochi affetti. Questo romanzo si concentra sul rapporto tra Sara e Teresa, la mora e la bionda, amiche e colleghe nei Servizi con un legame piuttosto turbolento. Ora Teresa, a capo di quell'unità di cui aveva fatto parte anche Sara, è scomparsa e l'amica deve fare di tutto per ritrovarla. Un romanzo della serie di Sara che si concentra sul rapporto fra le due amiche-nemiche: "Siamo due sorelle che si sono scelte -dice Teresa- che non si sono trovate per caso nello stesso posto e nella stessa famiglia".

Un libro che parla di amicizia, in particolare di amicizia femminile. Amicizie dell'infanzia e quindi assolute, amicizie come innamoramento, amicizie invece nate in età adulta e dunque più legate a luoghi e circostanze. In "La via delle sorelle" (Bompiani) Gaia Manzini intreccia esperienze personali e amicizie famose, le storie intime si rispecchiano nei legami di grandi donne della letteratura, che diventano quindi spunto di riflessione sul proprio vissuto.
