Imagine the water gathering all the stress, The worries, The heaviness, And taking it from you as it floats away, Leaving everything submerged within it deeply relaxed. And to do that, we must be clear on the answer to one big question...what do I need right now? Asking yourself this question regularly - especially in stressful or low moments - is a powerful way to gain clarity and connect with joy. It helps remove the haze of confusion that can often lead us to making poor choices that can lead to burn out, depression or bitterness. So this morning's meditation will have some brief guidance to relax you, and then will simply ask you to sit in stillness with this question. So go ahead and take a deep, cleansing breath in, Filling your belly with air, And exhaling all the air out. Take one more deep breath in, Feeling the air fill up your entire body, And breathe it all out. Bring your breathing to a slow and easy rhythm, As you sink deeply into comfort. And just be here. PAUSE… Aware of the circular, calming motion of your breathing. Allowing any thoughts that pop up to be released with each exhale. PAUSE… Find your stillness. PAUSE… And for the next few minutes, Invite yourself to sit in silence, with no judgements, no boundaries, Simply being with this question… What do I need right now? And then breathe out, Releasing the air, and everything not needed inside. PAUSE… Breathe in deep again, This time letting the air stretch your spine straight, From the bottom of your tailbone, All the way up to the crown of your head. And then let the air go, Exhaling and softening your body into comfort. PAUSE… Relax your breathing, And let it find a nice, easy rhythm. Imagine yourself looking out onto the vast landscape here. Notice the hills and slopes, Where the light shines, And where the dark hides. PAUSE… See if you can find the pain and suffering that is living here. The disappointments, The heavy memories, The tears. PAUSE… Imagine the loving white light spreading out into the open lands, Finding each one, And swirling its gentle warm energy around it. Soothing the pain, Relieving the suffering. Dissolving it all with every breath. LONG PAUSE… The tenderness of the white energy relieves, But also extracts the lessons learned, The wisdom gained, And the beauty in each of the pockets of pain and suffering it touches. And also what can keep you from living as fully as you want. PAUSE… So this practice is an opportunity for you to tune into your thoughts. So you can practice separating yourself from them, Letting them go, Or choosing them, And understanding the role they play in your life. So settle into comfort, And relax into your body. PAUSE… Find your breath, And invite yourself to sink into its rhythm. Maybe even silently saying, Breathe in as you breathe in. And breathe out as you breathe out. LONG PAUSE… Now just be here, Open, And calm. Noticing when thoughts arise. PAUSE… Allow yourself to observe each thought, Choosing to let it float on by, Like a cloud in the sky. Or stay here with you, In the imaginary basket beside you. PAUSE… See if you can practice this noticing, This choosing, Without judging the thoughts, Or connecting emotions to them. PAUSE… Just…observing, And tuning in, For the next little bit. LONG PAUSE (3 MINS)... Your thoughts are incredibly powerful tools for you to create the life you want. These are the thoughts to keep in your basket. But your thoughts are not you. But it can be difficult to love others when things are tough or when someone has different values or opinions than we do. To empathize means to understand and share the feelings of others. And when we take the time to truly empathize with others, we can open up a space for compassion and love, even in tough times. And even with those who we disagree. So go ahead and settle in, Resting your eyes shut, And making any adjustments to your body you need to make, And then exhale as you drop into your position. PAUSE… Find your breath, Expanding each inhale and exhale as it slows you down. Breathe, And keep your attention on the rhythm of your body as you breathe in, And breathe out. PAUSE… From this place of calm stillness, See if you can think about someone with whom you've had a moment of friction lately. This could be a life partner who recently drove you crazy, Or a work colleague with whom you disagree. A child with whom you can't see eye to eye, Or even a public figure who has enraged you from afar. PAUSE… As you think about this person, Notice any emotion or judgemental thoughts that come up. Let them gather like rolling storm clouds above you, And every time you breathe out, Imagine that cloud is drifting away, Releasing you from its negativity. Breathe it all out. And keep coming back to the calm stillness inside. PAUSE… Now with the vision of this person in your mind, Clear from the clouds of triggered emotions or judgements, Imagine yourself looking deeply into their eyes. Inside you can see scenes of their humanness. You see this person as a baby, Vulnerable and fresh. Just like you were. You see this person in tears, In a dark and lonely moment. Just like you have been. You see this person hugging someone they love, Just like you have. You see someone's past shaping their character and worldview, Just as yours has. PAUSE… Be here with this vision for a bit. LONG PAUSE… Bring your hands to your heart as we end with this intention. May I infuse my heart and my actions with empathy for others today, so that I may add more love into the world. Namaste, Beautiful.

PAUSE… Each raindrop enters you, Repairing what has been broken, Restoring what has been disturbed. PAUSE… Feel yourself relax, Opening even further to the hum of the healing raindrops. LONG PAUSE… Now imagine this gentle cloud expanding, Covering your entire body. PAUSE… Its warmth soothes you, And its waters soften you. PAUSE… Each raindrop falls upon you, Absorbed into your skin, And searches for the dark, Seeks out the pain. PAUSE… No memory can hide. No part of you is invisible. PAUSE… The trees are surrounding you, Protecting you, And breathing life into your body. The soft forest floor tenderly holds you, And invites you to rest. PAUSE… This is your place of serenity, Your place of peace. Breathe in the air, And feel it warm you, And bring you home. LONG PAUSE… The bubbles may still arise, But they easily float off into the night. And each time you see one go by, You nod in its direction, Acknowledging its existence, And then gratefully say goodbye as its journeys into the darkness. But it can be difficult to love others when things are tough or when someone has different values or opinions than we do. To empathize means to understand and share the feelings of others. And when we take the time to truly empathize with others, we can open up a space for compassion and love, even in tough times. And even with those who we disagree. So go ahead and settle in, Resting your eyes shut, And making any adjustments to your body you need to make, And then exhale as you drop into your position. PAUSE… Find your breath, Expanding each inhale and exhale as it slows you down. Breathe, And keep your attention on the rhythm of your body as you breathe in, And breathe out. PAUSE… From this place of calm stillness, See if you can think about someone with whom you've had a moment of friction lately. This could be a life partner who recently drove you crazy, Or a work colleague with whom you disagree. A child with whom you can't see eye to eye, Or even a public figure who has enraged you from afar. PAUSE… As you think about this person, Notice any emotion or judgemental thoughts that come up. Let them gather like rolling storm clouds above you, And every time you breathe out, Imagine that cloud is drifting away, Releasing you from its negativity. Breathe it all out. And keep coming back to the calm stillness inside. PAUSE… Now with the vision of this person in your mind, Clear from the clouds of triggered emotions or judgements, Imagine yourself looking deeply into their eyes. Inside you can see scenes of their humanness. You see this person as a baby, Vulnerable and fresh. Just like you were. You see this person in tears, In a dark and lonely moment. Just like you have been. You see this person hugging someone they love, Just like you have. You see someone's past shaping their character and worldview, Just as yours has.
