As we navigate the intricacies of attachment, I emphasize the detrimental aspects that can lead to increased anxiety, highlighting how our clinging to outcomes, people, emotions, beliefs, and the need for control can fundamentally disrupt our inner peace. We begin by acknowledging the importance of mindfulness, taking a moment to breathe deeply and settle into the present. This simple act serves as a reminder throughout our discussion, inviting listeners to adopt a mindset of calm and reflection. I stress that this episode's focus is on how unhealthy attachments manifest in our lives and subsequently fuel our anxiety. The essence of the anxious mind often revolves around a tight grip on expectations, leading to turmoil when those expectations aren't met.I introduce the concept of attachment theory, differentiating between the various styles—secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized—while also illustrating how these styles can shape our experiences and relationships. The exploration goes beyond these styles to consider our broader attachment to how life "should" unfold, which creates an added layer of anxiety when reality diverges from those expectations. #anxiety #attachment #lettinggo #compassion #anxiousmind #mentalhealth #selfcompassion #mindfulness #emotionalwellbeing #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthsupport #anxietyrelief #anxietyawareness #wellbeing #innerpeace #presentmoment #anxietyhelp #endthestigma #youarenotalone #healing #stress #stressrelief #emotionalhealth #selfcare #wellnessjourney #mindful #recoveryispossible #itsokaytonotbeokay #positivementalhealth #attachmenttheory #secureattachment #anxiousattachment #avoidantattachment #disorganizedattachment #attachmentstyles #relationshipgoals #healthyrelationships #attachmentissues #breakthecycle #attachmenthealing #ACP #anxietycoachespodcast #GinaRyan Learn more about your ad choices. Podcast Show Notes: Scoliosis Treatment with Dr. Tony Nalda Episode Title: Do Spine Stretches Work for Scoliosis? Episode Summary: Stretching can feel like a natural response to tightness and discomfort—but for scoliosis patients, not all stretches are created equal. In this episode of Scoliosis Treatment with Dr. Tony Nalda, we dive into the question: Do spinal stretches actually help scoliosis? You'll learn the difference between improving flexibility and achieving structural correction, why stretching the wrong way can do more harm than good, and how to safely support your spine through scoliosis-specific movement strategies. What You'll Learn: ✅ Stretching and Scoliosis: What's the Real Benefit? Stretching may help reduce pain and improve flexibility But stretching alone won't reduce scoliosis curves, because scoliosis is a structural condition ✅ Understanding Spinal Rigidity in Scoliosis As the spine curves, asymmetrical muscle tension develops Tight muscles often serve a protective role, stabilizing the spine against progression Loosening the wrong muscles may actually accelerate curve progression ✅ Best vs. Worst Stretches for Scoliosis Patients✔️ Best: Stretches customized to your specific curve pattern Prescribed by scoliosis-trained professionals Combined with strengthening exercises to balance asymmetries ❌ Worst: Generalized or symmetrical stretches Compressive movements Stretches that pull on the curve in the wrong direction ✅ Why Generic Stretches Can Be Harmful Many scoliosis curves require asymmetrical treatment Stretching without understanding your curve type can worsen symptoms or deformity True improvement often comes from a multimodal program including: Stretching Therapy Rehab Corrective bracing ✅ What Should You Do Instead? Seek out a scoliosis specialist who can guide you through a safe, effective program Don't aim for “symmetry” at all costs—aim for balance based on your unique curve Use stretches as a supportive tool, not a standalone solution Key Takeaway: Stretching may relieve discomfort, but only scoliosis-specific exercises—prescribed by trained professionals—can truly support spinal health and structural change. Avoid generic programs and focus on personalized care that addresses your spine's three-dimensional complexity. Resources & Links:

So the Reserve Bank did the predictable thing today and cut 25 basis points. Good news for mortgage holders, good news for the economy, more money in our pockets and more money to spend. Of course it's not going to change the world, it's a quarter of as percent on the wholesale rate. And the wholesale rate is only makes up a portion of the bank's rate. And the bank's rate only matters if you haven't already fixed. And so far, the banks haven't budged on fixed rates, only floating. The banks' swap rates are most important here - and there's talk they could fall further too, so we could get a 4.5 percent rate this year instead of the current 4.99 on two year. Either way, it's the general direction that we like the sound of. Loosening, lowering, the direction of travel - to steal a term from Jacinda - is good. And our disposable income is going up. Great. But of course, the question then becomes - will we actually spend it? Are we now so worried about trigger-happy Trump and his tariffs that we don't get that new couch or don't upgrade the car or don't get the kids back to ballet class because the subs were too expensive? The answer is - we don't know yet, because we haven't had any confidence surveys for the past week. But if Trump doesn't start doing deals soon, then my bet is people will starting pulling back a bit. Maybe not all the way, but enough to slow a recovery. Just talk to your friends and family and ask how they're feeling about things at the moment. So there's reason to be weary - but one mustn't be ungrateful. When inflation is beat and the Government's talking about growth and a budget surplus rather than more borrowing, you've got to take the wins when you get them. No matter how small or teenie-tiny they may be. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When you stop insisting you already know, you make space for divine truth to reveal itself.✨ Every object is a doorway to the Divine: Nothing is too ordinary or insignificant to carry a message from Spirit. Even a table can become your teacher—if you're willing to pause, look again, and let it reveal its purpose.✨ The world changes when your mind does: This is the heart of a Course in Miracles. When you shift your perception, the world reflects that shift. Old triggers soften. New possibilities appear. Kim and Marc dive into the ongoing job struggles businesses face in Missouri and Illinois post-COVID, with many workers ghosting employers or leaving after just a few weeks. This issue has even led to changes in Florida, where lawmakers are pushing a bill to loosen child labor laws to help fill open positions. The bill would allow teens aged 14-17 to work longer hours and later shifts, sparking debate. While some Democrats oppose the bill, fearing exploitation, Kim and the team argue that it's a practical solution for kids looking to work and learn a strong work ethic, while also supporting parents' choices for their children. They also discuss the growing trend of parents teaching their children the value of hard work and saving for the future.
There's debate over the potential loosening of bank rules. Reserve Bank requirements —forcing banks to have enough capital to withstand a one-in-200-year shock— look set to be loosened. Banks say that could reduce the cost of borrowing. But Simplicity Chief Economist Shamubeel Eaqub told Andrew Dickens it won't address the underlying reasons why banks aren't lending more money. He says mortgage rates are currently 2% over the cost of borrowing, and banks aren't lending enough to businesses and farms. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Police Association is the latest group hesitant about moves to change citizen arrest laws. The Government's introducing legislation loosening general public arrest rules, including permitting citizen's arrests at any time of the day in response to retail crime. But association President Chris Cahill told Mike Hosking while it's not forcing people to take the law into their hands, it's still incredibly risky. Cahill says people make decisions without the full facts in front of them, and while someone may think they're dealing with a teenage offender, things can escalate. The Government hopes criminals will be deterred as it proposes loosening restrictions on citizen's arrests. It would mean businesses could arrest and detain people stealing at any hour, and use reasonable force. Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith says this doesn't mean people can't tackle others or force them to the ground - but they will be able to directly intervene. "The definition of reasonable force is something that the courts will work their way through - but yes, holding on to somebody's arm and stopping them from getting away is reasonable." Revelation 10 04 December 2024 Revelation 5:1 - Andrew of Caesarea, Commentary on the Apocalypse, ed. David G. Hunter, trans. Eugenia Scarvelis Constantinou, vol. 123, The Fathers of the Church (Washington, DC: The Catholic University of America Press, 2011), 85–112. o can stand?” Loosening of the First Seal 6:1. And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard one of the four living beings saying, with a voice like thunder, “Come!” And here the good order of those in heaven is shown, from the first orders coming down to the second. Thus, from one of the fourfold-appearing living beings, that is, the lion, he heard originating from the first voice the command “come” to the angel forming the vision through an angel in a figurative fashion. The first living being, the lion, seems to me to show the princely spirit of the apostles against the demons, about whom it has been said: “Behold, the kings of the earth have been gathered together,” and also, “You will appoint them as rulers upon all the earth.”2 [60] 6:2. And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and the one sitting on it having a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. … Thus we explained the loosening of the first seal as meaning the generation of the apostles, [61] those who bend the gospel message like a bow against the demons … [and the return of the nations] Loosening of the Second Seal 6:3. And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living being saying, “Come.” I think the second living being, the calf, is said to characterize the priestly sacrifice of the holy martyrs, while the first describes the apostolic authority, as was said. 6:4. And out came another horse, bright red, and the one sitting [62] upon it was permitted to take the peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another; and he was given a large sword. We suppose that this means the second succession of the apostles, which is completely fulfilled through martyrs and teachers, during which, while the remainder of the gospel message was spreading, the peace of the world was abolished, nature having been divided against itself according to that which had been said by Christ, “I did not come to bring peace to the earth but a sword,” through which the slain martyrs were lifted up to the heavenly altar. The fire-red horse a symbol of either the shedding of blood or the flaming disposition of those suffering for Christ. What was written about the one seated on , that he was permitted to take the peace, shows the all-wise allowance of God testing the faithful servants through trials. Loosening of the Third Seal 6:5. And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living being saying, “Come!” I think the third living being, the man, is said to signify the fall of people and, because of that, torment, on account of the easy fall into sin through the power of free choice. 6:5b–6. 5b And I saw, and behold, a black horse, and the one sitting on it having a scale in his hand; 6 and I heard like a voice in the midst of the four living beings saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm oil and wine!” It is likely and sensible for a literal famine to occur then, just as it will also be announced by what follows. … Loosening of the Fourth Seal, Showing the Chastisements Which Befall the Impious 6:7. And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living being saying, “Come!” [65] The fourth living being, that is, the eagle, its high flight and keen eyesight coming down upon its prey from above, can signify the wounds from the divinely led wrath of God for the revenge of the pious and the punishment of the impious, unless being improved by these they return. 6:8. And I saw, and behold, a pale horse, and the name of the one sitting upon was Death. And Hades follows him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword and by famine and by death and by wild beasts of the earth. The series drawn out previously are connected to the present events. For as Eusebius says in the eighth chapter of the ninth book of his Ecclesiastical History, in the zenith of the persecutions, during the reign of Maximin the Roman Emperor, innumerable crowds were killed by the coming of famine and plague among them, along with other calamities; and such that were not able to bury them, and yet the Christians then generously busied themselves with the burial , and many of those who had been deceived2 were led to [66] the knowledge of the truth by the philanthropy of the Christians. … Seal, Meaning the Saints Crying Out to the Lord About the End of the World 6:9–10. 9 And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of people who had been slain on account of the word of God and on account of the witness which they had . They cried out with a loud voice, saying, 10 “How long, O holy and true Master, before you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell upon the earth?” 6:11. And he gave them each a white robe and told them to rest again a little longer, until their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed in the future, even as they , completed . And by these the saints seem to be asking for the full consummation of the world. Wherefore, they are called upon to endure patiently until the completion of the brothers, so that they will not become complete without them, according to the Apostle Loosening of the Sixth Seal, Signifying the Upcoming Plagues at the End of Time 6:12–13. 12 And I saw, and when he opened the sixth seal, and a great earthquake occurred, and the sun became black as sackcloth, and the moon became like blood. 13 And the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree casts its winter fruit when shaken by a great wind; It seems to us that here a shift has taken place beginning from the time of persecutions to the time before the departure of the pseudo-Christ, during which so many afflictions were prophesied to come, and perhaps the people, being practiced in these afflictions, did not renounce the punishments brought upon them by the Antichrist, of such a sort as we have never known. We often find in the Scriptures that an earthquake certainly a change in events. … 6:14a. And the sky vanished like a scroll that is rolled up, The sky rolled up like a scroll hints at either the unknown of the second coming of Christ—because silently and in a moment the scroll is opened—or also that the heavenly powers feel pain over those who fall from the faith as if they will suffer some kind of twisting on account of sympathy and sorrow. … 6:14b–17. 14b And every mountain and island was moved from its place. 15 And the kings of the earth and the great men and the rich and the commanders of thousands [and the strong], and every slave and every freeman, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; 17 for the great day of his wrath has come, and who can stand?”

Welcome to today's episode, where we are diving into building and maintaining cohesive teams in a busy veterinary practice, especially one with multiple teams and shifts. In some practices, it's common for staff members to barely see each other, which can make it challenging to stay aligned with practice goals. How can we ensure everyone is on the same page, even when they work at different times? Our guest, Steph Ferkovich a CVT from a 24-hour clinic in Minnesota, joins us to share her experience. With a background in criminal justice and psychology, Steph has a unique approach to team dynamics. Her favorite part of the job is watching staff members thrive in their roles, which is why she's so passionate about fostering strong communication within her practice. Throughout this episode, Steph will discuss the challenges of managing a clinic where teams work different shifts. She explains how they overcame an “us vs. them” mentality and built a culture of open communication. From handling team conflicts to recognizing when training alone won't resolve every issue, Steph offers practical strategies for maintaining harmony in the workplace. We'll also hear about the evolving role of managers in veterinary practices. Steph shares how she's shifted from being seen as an authority figure to more of a coach for her team and how loosening control can sometimes be the key to success. If you're ready to learn how to build a more cohesive and communicative team, listen to this conversation with Steph Ferkovich. Show Notes: [2:51] - Working at a 24-hour clinic is unique with an unusual schedule. The different shifts overlap, but otherwise, the teams don't see much of each other. [5:07] - One thing that needed to change was the “Us Vs. Them” vocabulary. [7:27] - Team attitudes can be negative, but it's important for them to realize that there are reasons, sometimes personal ones, that a team member works a certain shift. [9:42] - Working with people means that sometimes there will be animosity. Steph explains how to bring two people together for conversations even with resistance. [12:37] - A mediator is highly recommended in conversations that address animosity and conflict. [14:49] - Fortunately, Steph's team is pretty open with communication after the culture had been developed that it was important. [18:18] - In some cases, training will not change or fix communication between some team members. [20:10] - As a manager, Steph has learned that if something isn't working, there are other ways to help teams communicate. [21:53] - How do teams see their manager? Steph explains how this has changed over time and how most of the time it is as a coach. [24:38] - Loosening up control can be a challenge for some managers. [26:55] - Change is okay. What was working three years ago might not work anymore. Thank you for listening. Remember you are not in this alone. Visit our website for more resources. The reason we have questions is that we don't see the bigger picture. As children, we don't recognize the trauma we experience, but as we get older the sense that something is not right in life may lead us to the spiritual path. What happened to us informs how we respond to life in the present, but we live out of the programming of the past. As long as we're reacting from childish programming that was designed to protect us then we're unable to accept what is in the present. Self-observation and writing are ways to practically work with our thoughts, emotions, and patterns. When we have reactivity, we can come back to the body, be as present as possible, and be kind to ourselves. We can learn to be with what is going on for us instead of thinking that we should not feel the way we do. Homeostasis is when the body brings itself back into a stable and balanced state. Our habitual reactions keep the world intact and keep us identified with the person we believe ourselves to be. Loosening the intensity of our reactions makes it possible for us to see who we are underneath that. There is always more, always a bigger picture. We don't fear the unknown; we fear the known ending. The prison we find ourselves in is the known. We may say we want to get beyond our known reactions, but it can be scary and our inner work will bring up resistance. Who are we if we don't have our stories about ourselves? We can see how affirming, denying, and reconciling forces operate in our lives. There is benefit to working with people in a group who can remind us of our practice. We can hold to and nurture the experience that we sometimes have of who we are beyond our reactivity and definition of ourselves based in the past. Elise Erro (e.e.) has been committed to a life of engaging spiritual principles and service through theater, support for the dying, and bringing enjoyment to others as a chocolatier.
"The things that's being done in the dark will always come to shine. If you're pouring nothing but good things into yourself, you reap what you sow." Jalen Milroe Alabama Quarterback Last year, Jalen Milroe walked into what he thought was just another post-game meeting after a tough overtime loss to Michigan. But things took a surprising turn when legendary head coach, Nick Saban, dropped the news he was retiring. Shaking up the college football world, the young quarterback was forced to Pivot, as he took the reins of the Crimson Tide football's immediate future. In this episode of The Pivot, in partnership with Fanatics, Ryan, Fred, and Channing sit down with Alabama's leader to talk about his journey from a young man who only started playing football to bond with his father to being named quarterback to one of the most storied programs and a Heisman favorite this 2024 season. Standing in the shadows of Bama stars like Bryce Young, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Milroe is next in line of an impressive lineage and continues to forge his own path forward, trailblazing the play-calling position into his own style and standard of excellence. Ryan calls Jalen out mid conversation and reminds him it's ok to be him and talk as one of the guys and doesn't have to be buttoned up in all his responses. Loosening up, the guys ask him about his infamous "LANK" mantra and the mentality of coining that phrase, "Let All Naysayers Know" as his way of quieting the critics and answering the doubt that surrounded him and his Crimson Tide teammates. The guys laugh and reflect back at that viral moment and how the phrase has taken on a life of its own, being the core of how athletes from the youth to the pros and even people in everyday life, who are tired of being questioned and doubted... Coming from a military family, Jalen shares how growing up with "helicopter parents" taught him the discipline and work ethic that has fueled his rise and understands there's no such thing as self-made but only self driven humans who experience true success. Recognizing the village of people through family, coaches, teammates and friends who keep him going each day, and help navigate the waters mentally and physically of being the starting quarterback for one of the winningest college football franchises. Jalen opens up on how he's handled the pressures, the transition to a new head coach, Kalen DeBoer, what it's like to balance the outside noise with his own high standards and why a Texas native chose to play for Alabama, simply stating it is a business decision for four years to set him up for the next 40 as he and Jalen keeps it real with the guys about everything: From what went through his mind after that Michigan loss last season to 2024 college football playoff hopes to NIL era of money making to his NFL Draft dreams to sharing who he is away from the field as someone who is known for avoiding "fun" but clarifies he doesn't put himself in uncertain situations because it's easy to get into trouble but hard to get out of. Jalen shares his thoughts on Alabama's newest offensive phenom, 17 year old wide-receiver Ryan Williams and what key thing he shared with Jalen that was a telling-tale of the type of player Williams wants to be and strives to be. Jalen also pays homage and respect to the rise of black quarterbacks in the NFL for paving the way for men like himself to continue to break barriers and have the opportunities they do. In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they discuss a topic that was frequently suggested through our online form - whether it's okay for a Christian to use profanity. And the questions went beyond the individual level to the church at large. Because there has been a recent trend where churches seem to have become much more lenient when it comes to cursing and name-calling. Episode Links The fact that churches and church leaders have seemingly loosened up when it comes to profanity is actually part of a larger trend of a general loosening within evangelicalism itself. This was the topic of a recent podcast episode that we'd recommend you go back and listen to if you missed it: CCP117: On the Loosening of Evangelicalism. The trend we're seeing within the church is absolutely reflective of a trend in today's culture where a coarsening has taken place - there is very little shock value today even when hearing someone use the “F-word.” Dr. White mentioned an article in Psychology Today written by Dr. Valerie Fridland that discussed this topic at length. You can find that article HERE. For those of you who are new to Church & Culture, we'd love to invite you to subscribe (for free of course) to the twice-weekly Church & Culture blog and check out the Daily Headline News - a collection of headlines from around the globe each weekday. We'd also love to hear from you if there is a topic that you'd like to see discussed on the Church & Culture Podcast in an upcoming episode. We are about to look at a passage of scripture with great significance. And I'm talking about that portion of the Bible that deals with messiahs entry into Jerusalem shortly before his death, burial, and resurrection. And that entry is commonly referred to as the triumphant entry. And here's what we need to understand that triumphant entry took place shortly before Passover. I've shared with you many times before that Passover is the festival of redemption.
