Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 1 Episode 10 – No Small Parts We’re back with the tenth and final episode of Season 1 of Star Trek: Lower Decks, titled No Small Parts. This episode was written by creator, executive producer, and showrunner Mike McMahan and directed by Barry J. Kelly, who also directed S1E1 Second Contact, S1E4 Moist Vessel, and S1E7 Much Ado About Boimler. SPOILERS AHEAD!!! If you haven’t seen the season finale of Lower Decks, stop right now!!! Go watch it, then come back!!! We’ll be here for you! Mariner’s secret is out… and it’s now more than just Boimler that knows! The cold open starts with Boimler not only telling Mariner that he knows her secret that she is the Captain’s daughter, but everyone else on ship finds out, too! That might have been a little convenient for the secret to be broadcast over a communicator, but it got the job done. Sucking up to Mariner… We see a lot of people sucking up to Mariner all of the sudden, even senior officers you might not expect to do so. We thought one of the funniest was Lieutenant Levy, who I don’t think we’ve seen before, a conspiracy theorist who thinks that Wolf 359 was an inside job (well, if you think that it was led by Locutus, it WAS an inside job of sorts!!!), that the Dominion War didn’t happen, and that Changelings don’t exist. There were other funny encounters, but that one was among the funniest. Ensign Peanut Hamper… We encounter the Exocomps, which were first seen in the TNG episode The Quality of Life, and one has even joined Starfleet and is Tendi’s new recruit. It was interesting to think of the Exocomps as Starfleet officers, but since they became sentient, I guess that makes sense. However, unlike when we saw them in The Quality of Life, this Exocomp didn’t want to make the sacrifice. It was more interested in saving itself than saving the crew. Peanut Lore… Here’s something I didn’t mention on the podcast. It’s funny that the Exocomp was left floating in space, much like Lore was… You may recall that the Pakleds were the ones who found Lore when he showed back up in the TNG episode S4E3 Brothers. I wonder if that will be a story they pick up on in Season 2. Spot the References… Again, there were a lot of references this week. I used this Den of Geek article to help find them. Obviously, the Titan was not only referenced, but seen, but there were a lot more! Did they stick the landing? Most of us agreed that they did stick the landing, though we had a couple of dissenters, including last week’s guest host, LT. Kyle gave it his third 10 in a row, and I gave it my second. This had lots of action, heroes, dramatic tension, and a new bad guy from someone you might not expect. It also left the show in a much different position than where it started. Shaxs is dead, Boimler has been promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and transferred to the Titan, Rutherford no longer has his implant and has suffered memory loss, and Tendi, well, she’s Tendi. It seems like the adversarial relationship between the mother captain and the daughter ensign is over, replaced with a much more collaborative one. What are some essential strategies that district leaders should put into place to make sure all students have the ability to engage in deeper learning? How can school leaders and teachers collaborate more effectively to maximize impact on diverse groups of students? What are some ways to strike the appropriate balance between structure and agency when implementing project-based learning practices? We discuss these questions and much more with Dr. Carmen Coleman, Chief Academic Officer of Jefferson County Public Schools in Kentucky. In 2018, Dr. Coleman launched the “What’s in Your Backpack?” video series, with each episode focusing on a specific aspect of the Backpack of Student Success Skills development. The program focuses on providing students with a backpack full of universal essential skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication. Students fill their virtual backpacks with examples of their work and defend that work during the school year. Dr. Coleman previously served as an associate clinical professor at the University of Kentucky (UK) in the Department of Educational Leadership Studies. She was the program coordinator for the Principal Preparation Program and the director of the Next Generation Leadership Academy. Before joining UK, Dr. Coleman served as superintendent of Danville Independent Schools. Previously, she was director of elementary schools in Fayette County. She began her career in Scott County, where she worked as a teacher and principal. This episode is a follow up to S1/E10, when we spoke with Jefferson County's Donna Neary about "Accelerate to Graduate", her team's project-based learning initiative that helped newcomers graduate before aging out of high school. We were curious to learn more about the role school leadership plays in implementing this kind of program. As you will hear, Dr. Coleman provided us with that and much more! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/highest-aspirations/message
Season 2 Episode 2 SASQUATCH SOLDIER Welcome to the I Want to Believe podcast, episode 2! We are just getting started and happen to have a unique Sasquatch tale to discuss... BUT FIRST, as of RIGHT NOW, you can watch me and Bill Brock’s documentary, Abducted New England on Amazon Prime. And my book Otherworldly Encounters, is available wherever books are sold. Links are below! Let's get to it... We have discussed Sasquatch on our show before, arguably in S1E1 when we talked about the Missing 411 phenomena but also in S1E10. In that episode, we had Bill Brock on to tell a story of a Sasquatch investigation that he was on in Florida, and then Kyle and I discussed and shared some stories on the Sasquatch/UFO connection, by way of Stan Gordon . This time, we’re talking about a Sasquatch encounter on a Military Base. This occurred at the Fort Lewis Army Military Installation in 1978. A soldier named Edwin Godoy and numerous others were heading back to base from a training exercise. During their trip back, their vehicle broke down. Godoy stayed with the vehicle while the others headed back to base on foot. Later that night, as Godoy sat by himself, he heard something near the trees... He went to investigate and was terrified to find a, "massive figure skulking about and looming near a stand of trees around 300 meters away." It was tall, broad and covered in hair. What happened next? Listen to the episode to find out. Without saying too much, this podcast is all about getting back to our roots and getting connected with the environment. I took a listen to an NPR podcast, that really motivated me to see things connected environmentally, and it showcases perfectly all of the beautiful intricacies of life. Star Trek: Discovery – Season 1 Episode 10: Despite Yourself On this episode of The Star Trek Discovery Podcast, new co-host Ruthie and I discuss the mid-season premiere of Star Trek: Discovery, S1E10, titled Despite Yourself. In the long-standing tradition, we find out that the USS Discovery has traveled to the Mirror Universe, after not knowing where it ended up last time. We both LOVED this episode!!! Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the Emperor of them all? So much happened in this episode! We discover that Burnham is the Captain of the ISS Shenzhou, or at least was before being presumed dead. Lorca is a fugitive in this universe, and although he captained the Buran as he did in the prime universe, was never captain of the ISS Discovery. Instead, Tilly is the captain, and she has earned several nicknames for her command, including Captain Killy. Who’s Got a Secret? We learn more about the Tyler/L’Rell situation, and it gets really complicated, while we lose a valued member of the crew as a result. Get in your feedback! Star Trek Discovery – Season 1A Roundtable Star Trek Discovery returns on January 7th, but we return a bit early for a Season 1a roundtable, discussing the first nine episodes of Season 1. Joining Adam and Brian are Mark Des Cotes of Solo Talk Media and my former co-host of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Ruthie Rink! Bittersweet Announcement We begin the episode with an important announcement about this podcast. Unfortunately, Adam has decided to step down as co-host of the podcast. This is his last episode for the immediate future, due to other commitments that make it difficult to do this podcast. It’s sad to see Adam go. He’s been a big reason for the podcast’s success, and this podcast wouldn’t be where it is without him. However, I am pleased to announce that the new co-host is Ruthie!!! Ruthie and I have been podcasting together for over three years. She’s as big of a Star Trek fanatic as Adam and I are, and she loves this show. I think you will find that the quality of this show will not skip a beat, and since this podcast’s format is based upon the format of The Walking Dead Talk Through, we probably won’t be changing things much. You can still listen to Adam on The Nerfherder Council podcast. Submit Your Feedback for S1E10 Despite Yourself! Here it is, folks: the final episodes of Dude Watches: Iron Fist. No need to bury the lead here– we pretty much hated it. In fact, we hated it so much we preferred to talk about a 90 second Thor: Ragnarok trailer MORE than we wanted to talk about 13 episodes of Danny Rand turning […] The post Dude Watches – Iron Fist – S1E10, S1E11, S1E12 & S1E13 appeared first on Dude OMG!.
It’s Will. Let’s talk. Let me get this right out of the way, immediately: I did not like this series. Cord and Caleb thought the final two episodes vindicated the 8 grueling hours prior to this. I think it’s Stockholm Syndrome. This was a terrible show. Here’s why: I didn’t care for the characters. All […] The post Dude Watches – The Young Pope – S1E09 & S1E10 appeared first on Dude OMG!.
SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! Boy, oh, boy, here it is: Westworld season 1 finale… and boy is it a doozy (depending on who you ask).
