Welcome back to the Trekkie Book Club, ah, Project Defiant — where we deal with our rage with the world by reading Star Trek books. We resume our discussion of 'The Autobiography of Benjamin Sisko' written by Derek Tyler Attico, as we cover chapters 17 through 20. In this episode, Ben moves up the ranks by acts of heroism, and as you guess, more heartbreak. Damn you Locutus. Get the Book: https://amzn.to/3E6rzEC #TheAutobiographyOfBenjaminSisko
Emissary! The Newbie crew finally comes across Deep Space 9, and it does NOT start off lightly! We're immediately thrust into the battle of Wolf 359 and one Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Sisko's perspective on Locutus' assault that kills his wife and nearly kills his son. Where does he go from here? Working alongside a bunch of misfits on a former Cardassian space station? Getting wrapped up in Bajoran religious prophecies? Explaining baseball to noncorporeal God-like alien entities? What could go wrong? The troupe continued their desperate battle with Denton Arthur. As the Dark Lord used their own weapons against them, New Rogue was the first to make it past the hole in the floor that had plagued them, Shadow Nemesis summoned some rats, which miraculously attacked Denton's wife in concert with Del's shrieking ghosts, Tyler finally broke the latch and brought down the barrier that had been protecting Denton, and Del retrieved her Reality Blade and New Rogue's hammer to arm them once again. But with New Rogue having just fallen under a barrage of magic missiles, is it possible that all of Wet Change will make it out alive? After the battle of Wolf 359, the team consisting of Commander Riker, Lieutenant Commanders Data and Shelby and Lieutenant Worf on board the U.S.S. Enterprise were doing all they could to protect the ship against the invading Borg, led by Locutus of Borg, formerly Captain Picard of the Federation. It was a strange situation. The alien drones seemed oblivious to the starship's crew as both sides went about completing their objectives and overall missions. Our training kicked in and it was as if we were on Star Trek: Away Missions by Andrew Haught, Mike Haught and Phil Yates from Gale Force Nine. Hugh've got to be kidding me! We get back to the Borg and realize they aren't just the big implacable baddies the Enterprise made them out to be. Following up on a distress signal, Riker, Worf, and Crusher find an injured Borg on a random planet. Beverly wants to bring him on board, and Geordi devises a Borg jail after the Captain reluctantly agrees. Then they get the bright idea to poison this Third of Five borg kid with a shape, before Crusher and Geordi give him the name Hugh. Guinan wants to kill the Borg, but then she meets him and realizes he might not be Borg without the collective beaming into his brain. Locutus meets him too, and they call the whole thing off. Vadic contacts her superiors, who tell her to pursue the Titan at all costs, leading to her dumping the unwieldy portal technology. The Titan is too damaged to run both propulsion and life support for a few more hours. Riker admits Picard was right and suggests that he spend his last moments bonding with Jack in the holodeck. Picard and Jack tell each other some of their adventures, but are joined by Shaw, who bitterly recounts his experiences as an engineer during Starfleet's battle with Locutus. Riker orders Seven to keep searching for the Changeling impostor, with Shaw's help. The anomaly starts discharging energy pulses. Beverly monitors the timing, and conjectures that the anomaly is actually a space creature about to give birth. Riker, Beverly, and Picard form a highly risky plan to harness the energy pulses for recharging the ship's systems and ride them out of the nebula, and enlist Shaw and Seven's help in successfully executing it. Seven finds and kills the Changeling impostor. The Titan uses its tractor beam to fling an asteroid at the Shrike, dealing it great damage, and escapes the nebula amid the newborn jellyfish-like space creatures.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
When Captain Janeway starts fiddling with her comm badge, a risky heist to steal Borg technology leads to a Locutus 2.0 situation with Seven. But after reliving her assimilation through the USS Raven's logs, an ultimatum from Dax's ex-girlfriend makes Seven willing to stay in Borg City. What's the most shocking reason to be in a closet in Silver Lake? Where should you not fall asleep when you have an 8am class? Which crew member celebrates Captain Janeway Day? The culmination of the longest wait in TV (and Re:Engage) history! Dr. Erin MacDonald joins as our very special guest for this premiere of the fourth season that follows on directly after the events from the finale of season three. Dr. Erin makes the "Trek-no-babble" happen on modern Star Trek shows and she learns up our cultural bridge crew on deflector dishes, graviton particles and anti-matter spreads. Riker takes over the chair by talking to it, Data jacks into the Matrix and Locutus teaches us all the value of a good nap. This episode had a lot to deliver on and it doesn't disappoint! SPECIAL LIVE EPISODE!!! It's the final story of Voyager Season 6, and there's no better place to take it for a spin than in front of a live, slightly drunk audience at DragonCon 2022! Can the crew save the besieged inhabitants of a digital Borg paradise? If this is such a paradise, why did Seven date such a big lame when she lived there? Is the galaxy even close to ready for Locutus of JANEWAY?! Is “Unimatrix Zero, Part 1” GOOD… or is it GARBAGE?
This is it! This is the big one! For many Start Trek fans, this episode is what cemented our love of this series and this franchise. The terrifying enemy of the soulless Borg are back, and the top brass sends in the Shelby. The commander is introduced as an expert in Borg tactics and a foil to one Will Riker. They are at odds from the start, but they learn how to trust each other when the Enterprise needs them most. Abducted Picard transforming into Locutus of Borg is quick and dirty, and the crew needs to fight tooth and nail to get him back and maybe save humanity in the process. Guinan isn't sure victory is possible, but she'll take survival. So will Riker, apparently. We watched the impromptu finale of Season 21, which lost four episodes due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. While that might not have mattered in most seasons of SVU, Season 21 was trying to do some things which definitely demanded resolution. Of course we talk about a whole range of ridiculous topics including early attempts at adding serialization to weekly procedurals, post-modern philosophy, and the Borg. Apologies for weird sound, particularly on Adam's track. He was having some software issues which hopefully have been resolved. Jahrhundert unterwegs, was natürlich nicht ohne Zwischenfälle verläuft. Aber die Frage, die Nils absolut nicht loslässt, ist: Was ist denn nur mit Agnes los?

The damage of the Borg goes far beyond the remnants of starships at Wolf 359 and left deep scars on Jean-Luc Picard both mentally and physically. The traumatic experience of being abducted, violated, and utterly powerless filled the Captain with feelings that took him years to work through, some of which will likely be explored in the upcoming new seasons of Picard.Trek Untold's Matthew Kaplowitz is joined by Jeff Akin of the Starfleet Leadership Academy Podcast and Michael Hough AKA Hawk from Strange New Pod for a discussion on the events that transformed Picard into Locutus and back again, the difficult feelings he contended with after, how one heals from times like that, and much more.WARNING: This episode discusses serious topics that may be sensitive to some listeners. "Now hear this. Now hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off, the Borg are back and they've managed to capture Captain Picard, and they've assimilated him into their collective and given him a fancy new name, Locutus of Borg. Nathan and Dean talk about cyborgs, androids, and they ponder the origins of how the Borg developed. Spoiler: they use veiled political commentary to suggest the dangers of collectivism and loosely tie it back to the Borg. Other prompting questions: How does poker work without real money? Is Riker ever going to take a promotion, and if not do we blame him? And finally, will Nathan and Dean get to the bottom of Nathan's cynical and overly-critical take on all things Trek? We present to you, Best of Both Worlds Part 1 & Part 2 from Star Trek: The Next Generation." Frases memorables como ‘We have engaged the Borg’ o ‘I am Locutus of Borg’ resuenan en nuestras mentes trekkies desde entonces.
Jean-Luc Picard. Introduced in the first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Jean-Luc Picard is the captain most Star Trek fans would tend to pick as their favorite. From his humble beginnings as the antithesis of James T. Kirk by being more of a diplomatic and authoritative captain, to actually resigning his commission as an Admiral over the Romulan supernova rescue pullout, Jean-Luc Picard has become one quintessential human being. Of course, Sir Patrick Stewart's performance as the character cannot be overstated. In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, hosts Wes Huntington and MacKenzie Flickinger analyze Jean-Luc Picard - talking about the biggest events in his life, such as dealing with his assimilation into Locutus, him taking revenge on the Borg, helping the Synths gain protection by the Federation in 2399 and everything in between. In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite films and one of the best films of the "Star Trek" film franchise: the 1996 film "Star Trek: First Contact" directed by Jonathan Frakes. Set in the 24th Century, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (played by Patrick Stewart) is having nightmares about his experience six years before of being assimilated and transformed by a cybernetic alien race known as the Borg - during which he was given the identity "Locutus of Borg" and subsequently was forced to lead the Borg in an attack against his own Starfleet of starships with a mandate to eventually assimilate the entire population of Earth. Now, the Borg are threatening to assimilate the population of Earth once again - and after the Borg cube threatening Earth are eventually defeated by a Starfleet armada, with the assistance of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in command of the Federation starship USS Enterprise-E, the Borg launch a smaller vessel that travels into the past with the intention of assimilating the population of Earth in the 21st Century. Captain Picard and the Enterprise follow the Borg to the 21st Century and they discover that the Borg wish to stop the first official "First Contact" of humanity and an alien species - which, if successful, will usher in a profound new era of rejuvenation for the nuclear war stricken planet Earth and its human population, as well as inform them that they are not alone in the universe. Though thought to have been defeated, the Borg proceed to attempt to assimilate the Enterprise-E and its crew - which leads Captain Picard to engage the Borg in a face to face effort to defeat them before they can carry out the apparent goal of assimilating all of humanity; however, while on the surface of Earth, other members of the Enterprise-E crew assist Dr. Zefram Cochrane (played by James Cromwell) - the inventor of the first human spacecraft with a warp drive capable of travelling faster than light - in the launch of his ship "The Pheonix", which if successful will attract the attention of a nearby alien spacecraft and propel 21st Century humanity into the next generation of their evolution as a people and as a result secure the prospect of a future of prosperity that will spread throughout the galaxy. The incredible score of the film was composed by the late great Jerry Goldsmith. The film also stars Alice Krige, Alfre Woodard, Levar Burton, Brent Spiner, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Robert Picardo, Dwight Shultz, and Neal McDonough. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message
The Impossible Box. “I Borg”—the acclaimed episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation that aired in May 1992—introduced Hugh, the first individual we see who has been liberated from the Borg Collective. After two more appearances in the series, Hugh has returned almost three decades later in Star Trek: Picard as the executive director of the Borg Reclamation Project. In “The Impossible Box,” Picard and Hugh have an emotional reunion amid the major storylines of Picard's quest to find Soji—all while the intrigue aboard the Artifact finally leads to dramatic results. In this episode of The Line, hosts Brandon-Shea Mutala, Justin Oser, and Chrissie De Clerck-Szilagyi discuss the sixth episode of Star Trek: Picard, “The Impossible Box.” We explore the long-awaited meeting of Picard and Hugh, the deep friendship between Raffi and Rios, and the sudden turn in Soji and Narek's interaction. We also talk about the flaws we seem to be seeing in Picard himself, more about life aboard La Sirena, and Picard finding Soji after half a season of searching. We also share our predictions for upcoming episodes. Like always, we are here for the deep-dive, reflecting on how Commander Riker and crew fair in his absence, and how Picard is shaped going forward.
