Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 1 Episode 9 – Crisis Point We’re back with the ninth and penultimate episode of Season 1 of Star Trek: Lower Decks, titled Crisis Point. This episode was written by story editor Ben Rodgers and directed by Bob Suarez, who also directed S1E3 Temporal Edict and S1E6 Terminal Provocations. Joining us this week is a special guest, LT from NC! Mariner again taking charge when she shouldn’t… The cold open starts with a scene where we see Mariner violating the Prime Directive. She takes charge but avoids rules she shouldn’t. It really sets up the end of this episode. However, Freeman offers a compromise that effectively ends the reptiles (Selay?) overthrowing the rats (Anticans?) by offering food replicators. I did get a laugh out of the lizards wanting to bask, and how they taste delicious. Boimler’s simulation taken over… Boimler goes out of his way to kiss butt. LT made a really good observation during the podcast on how Boimler seems to be able to handle interactions with the other ensigns but clams up whenever someone has a higher rank. Boimler, as usual, tries to come up with the perfect answer for Freeman by studying how she reacts to answers, instead of doing what he should be doing, and answer for himself. Mariner really IS messed up… Of course, when Mariner discovers this is a “perfect” simulation, she re-programs it to become a movie, with her as the villain. This movie turned out to be better therapy than the food metaphors spouted from Dr. Migleemo. She ends up facing off with herself. This was both interesting and shows how messed up she is. I hope that she worked out things like it seemed she did. She really is the only one that casts herself as the villain. She really is capable of being an exemplary officer if she applies herself and stops taking short cuts. The budding Rutherford/Billups bromance… The Rutherford/Billups scenes were funny. There was a budding bromance, reminiscent of Laforge and Data, or O’Brien and Bashir, but unrequited at this point. I think they could have explored that a bit more in real life. Tendi explains why she’s not part of the Orion Syndicate… Some Orions haven’t been thieves for over five years! So I guess Orion is not part of the Federation, but some have left to join Starfleet. Mariner did program her to be the stereotypical Orion, something she didn’t appreciate, but she appreciated Mariner getting into this movie even less. So now he knows… I thought it was funny when Boimler ran out of the Captain’s Ready Room screaming like a ninny, as Freeman says he came in unprepared. In actuality, he clammed up after discovering the big secret about Mariner, that she is Captain Freeman’s daughter. What he does with that secret is anyone’s guess. It seems like we’ll know in a few days. Best episode so far! We all agreed that Crisis Point was the best episode of the season. It did go heavy on the references again, almost exclusively from the movies, but they were appropriate both to the story and the situation. This season really seems ready to end on a high note. After a long hiatus, we discuss S1:E9 of Gilmore Girls, so expect some Tristan hate, lots of laughter and of course a mention of the fruit bowl. While originally against the idea, Rory decides to ask Dean to attend the Winter Formal at Chilton with her. She hesitates because they haven't yet discussed the social parameters of their relationship. Although not being a joiner, Dean accepts. Tristan liking Rory becomes more evident, asking her to the dance albeit last minute.Lorelai injures her back making Rory's dress, prompting Emily to stay to take care of her while Rory is away at the dance, which gives them some bonding time. The dance is better than Rory expected, despite a minor run-in with Paris and a small fight between protective Dean and a jealous Tristan. Rory and Dean continue their evening with coffee in Stars Hollow, reading and talking at Miss Patty's, but accidentally fall asleep. Lorelai and Emily's mostly positive evening ends with a massive fight upon the realization Rory never made it home. Rory and Lorelai then have a fight, as well. What is balance truly? And how do we obtain it? Is it a perfect state of being, where nothing ever goes wrong? I don’t think it is. When I think of balance, I think of it as a rhythm or cycle, where we are in a constant state of change. In my mind, I have an image of a pendulum swinging left and right. In one direction is activity and creativity (let’s say its the right side) and on the other is rest and introspection (and we will say this is the left). As the pendulum swings to the right, at the peak, just before it starts to descend again is a moment of weightlessness. It is effortless at that moment to be in that energy. On the right, everything is firing, adrenaline is pumping, action and creativity are happening and it feels really good. Now at the apex of the left side, it too has a moment of weightlessness where it is effortless and bliss to stay in the energy of rest and introspection. They both feel good…. Because they are BOTH good for us…. BUT there is only a moment of weightlessness before the momentum shifts to going back in the other direction. If we choose to stay at the apex of the left or right, it will take effort and energy to hold yourself there, resulting in a negative outcome. For example, if we stay too long in the energy of the right side (action and creativity), we become overstimulated and unable to create anything of quality, eventually leading to hyper-emotional states like anxiety. And if we stay in the energy of the left side (rest and introspection) we can become lazy and detached and our mood can drop into feelings of hopelessness and depression. So while it is extremely tempting to stay on one end or the other, the pendulum is always seeking balance and if we flow with it, we will find a balance of activity and rest that works well for us. (Because everyone has a different balance of how much rest vs activity they require). My point in giving you this analogy, is so you can give yourself a break from chasing that perfect ideal. If you feel like you are forever adjusting your course in an attempt to energise yourself through activity and then pulling back for rest, then you are most likely doing a really good job.Awareness is the key and just the same as how a toddler learning to walk, finds herself wobbling and making big adjustments in order to balance on two legs, we do the same with our energy balance. But as the toddler practices, pretty soon, she is able to stand so still that you wouldn’t even know that her muscles are making slight adjustments, constantly, to ensure she stays up straight. In this same way, we will also improve our ability to tack back and forth, clumsy at first but improving as time passes, as we follow the pendulum from activity to rest and vise versa. Hey there Everybody, Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. Today, I'm covering S2E8: Happy Birthday, which aired on December 10, 1983. In this episode It's Ricky's 13th birthday, and his first with his father. After first thinking his dad has forgotten his birthday, he wishes for the impossible - which is for Kate, his dad and his grandfather to all get along. This episode for me was not so much a let down, but just dull, it was nothing but fighting, fighting, fighting from the get go. Edward fighting with his father, Edward arguing with Kate and Grandfather Stratton jumping in to add his two cents. Gah, poor Ricky is doing everything he can to just enjoy his 13th birthday. His first birthday he's celebrating with his father. His birthday wish is for his dad and grandfather and Kate to not fight for one night. He should have gotten Jim Carrey's kid from Liar, Liar to make the wish. Next week on the podcast I cover S1E9: the Sounds Of Silence, which aired on December 17, 1983. In this episode Ricky is frustrated by his lack of improvement as a musician in the school orchestra, and after a disastrous humiliation at their concert, he turns to Edward for advice on how to reach his goals. Have a great week everyone!

How Clear is Your Clarity? Howdy -- I’m Kyle Bondo, and this is Podfader! My weekly podcast about helping you keep your podcast from podfading, especially when the drive for new and interesting content becomes a struggle. S1:E9 -- How Clear is Your Clarity? Step Three of the Nine Steps Back to Podcasting is Clarity. What does it mean to you? Clarity is defined as: The quality of being clear. The quality of coherence and intelligibility. The quality of being easy to see or hear; sharpness of image or sound. These are the elements of your podcast that Clarity tries to highlight. And why this step centers on deciding WHAT you need to improve if you are to learn a better way to produce your podcast. You cannot fix a podcast you never start, but you also cannot fix a podcast that YOU do not know is broken. Why is it broken? Podcasting is an audio medium of transforming information to other people. Because this requires our ears and our brains to be understood, there are three (3) distinct Clarity characteristics you need to have: Clarity of Speech Clarity of Delivery Clarity of Message Three Kinds of Feedback How do you know when you podcast is broken when it comes to either Clarity of Speech or Clarity of Delivery? You have to ask. Or to use another term -- You have to get feedback. But not just any kind of feedback, you have to get honest feedback using one or all of these methods: Online Surveys The Circle of Trust Professional Feedback 1. Online Surveys Ask other podcasters. Sometimes, it’s good to hear it from other people who create podcasts too. 2. The Circle of Trust The “circle of trust” process involves live airings of your podcast in front of real people. At a podcaster meeting or meetup, instead of a speaker, have each person in attendance introduce their podcast, then play 5-minutes of their most recent episode for all to hear. It is a feedback method only for the podcasters that are GETTING REAL with themselves and their skills. Because after that 5-minutes, your podcast goes off and the room starts to give you feedback based on what they just heard. What you get next is some of the most immediate and honest feedback you will ever get from complete strangers. 3. Professional Feedback The final feedback method involves hiring professionals. Instead of a meetup or event, you can spend a little money and have professionals in the industry review your podcast. Dave Jackson of the SchoolofPodcasting.com does for his podcast called Podcast Rodeo. Every episode has been leading up to this moment...an Artie-centric episode! Well, mostly. It counts. Today we're talking S1E9, "Wheels," as Artie takes the spotlight. We've also got feelings about Kurt and Burt, Tina's stutter, and Sue's backstory. And Glee gets its first kudos from us. First times all around. This episode rates 3 whole Kevins (a podcast high!) --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Your road map to this week's entertainment-themed podcast:00:31 Dancing with the Stars: Guilty Pleasures night was also Happy Judges night and Let's Not Ruin Our Mood by Eliminating Anyone night.16:39 The West Wing Weekly: The podcast did a listener questions/Big Block of Cheese ep, so we didn't watch an episode of the show this time.21:22 Challenge Round: The Crown: After John Lithgow won an Emmy for his performance as Winston Churchill on this Netflix series, Catherine challenged Terri to take in an episode (S1E9, "Assassins") in which Churchill must face his mortality in the form of a painting.UPDATE: As we mentioned on the episode, our viewing for next week was TBD by whether the West Wing Weekly podcast was watching the first episode of season 4 or doing a special episode. And ... turns out, they're doing a special episode. So we will NOT be watching and commenting on "20 Hours in America Part 1" next week (sigh), and we will also be saving the movie Junebug to watch on a week when we're also watching Amy Adams in one of those "20 Hours" episodes. Instead, we'll watch the 1998 film Playing by Heart, which you've probably never heard of and will therefore be surprised by the number of actors in it you recognize. For quotes, archives, and more, visit us at http://parentingroundabout.com.

Kelly & Tom recap S1E9 of The Crown, which is Kelly’s favorite episode! They encourage people to give up on their dreams, feel bad for Toby Jones, talk about rickety horse ankles and horse therapy, identify the partying-est king ever, create about three different spinoff series, get annoyed by gay Lefou, and have fish and chips because it’s Lent. Kelly is glad Phillip Seymour Hoffman is dead, Tom doesn’t know anything about Godot, and everyone’s research is woefully incompetent. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This week, the gang watches and reviews Jessica Jones S1E9, “AKA Sin Bin.” Maybe we should call this episode “AKA We Need To Talk About Kevin.” Or maybe “AKA Meet the Parents.” Or maybe “AKA Jessica Traps Kilgrave in a Glass Room and Makes Him Kill His Parents and Then Kills Them. Spoiler Alert.” Sin […] The post Dude Watches – Jessica Jones – S1E9 appeared first on Dude OMG!.

The two raddest dudes this side of the Trident are comin' at ya hot this week to talk about S1E9, Baelor. There aren't as many "losing your head" jokes as you'd expect! There are, however, as many "Syiro exists and doesn't exist" theories as you would expect. In between that, we talk about Robb being a horny teenager and Jason Momoa collapsing into himself because he's unable to destroy everything around him. Also: what would you do if you were Ned? Most likely, absolutely anything else. www.brooksandeddy100adventures.com
