Kat Samardzija, CEO of Locker Lifestyle Join us ladies as we go behind the scenes of what it was like to build the brand that is taking over the internet by helping women feel safer on their daily run. About Locker Lifestyle & Kat: Locker Lifestyle offers sleek, stylist pockets for any activity. Fit cash, keys, an ID phone & more on the go. Ideal for running, travel, fitness and festivals! It all started in February of 2016...Our founder, Kat, being a very active student-athlete, decided she was sick of bringing her entire wallet to the gym when all she needed was her student ID to get in/out. Lockers didn't lock, cubbies were open for anyone to steal belongings, and she didn't need everything she always ended up bringing! After countless hours of searching for the perfect product with no success, she decided to do something about it, especially since running belts are bulky, unfashionable, and restricting. Fortunately Kat's "Momager" had a successful bridal store with a very talented seamstress. Kat drew up the designs, specifics, and worked with her to see if what she was thinking up was even possible. After many revisions, her very first product, the Wrist Locker™, was born! Whenever she wore the test market prototype, everyone around her would ask where they could get one. She then realized she was not the only person with this problem. After countless hours of tweaking and trials, Kat learned how to sew for herself. Locker Lifestyle® started small, selling on Etsy, at local festivals, and gyms. Before she knew it, even while attending college and playing tennis on scholarship, Kat sold hundreds of Wrist Lockers™, and placed FIRST in 7/7 entrepreneurship competitions she entered. She then changed her major from Nursing to Entrepreneurship. Champions are built, not born. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
On today's Locked On Giants Podcast, host Ben Kaspick discusses the San Francisco Giants' series win against the Texas Rangers over the weekend. The Giants pounded the Rangers on Friday with their right-handed lineup. Donovan Solano continued to stay hot, and Wilmer Flores hit a big three-run home run with two outs. Logan Webb had a bit of a shaky start, but the bullpen was almost perfect the rest of the way and the Giants won 9-2. On Saturday, the Giants got a great start out of Drew Smyly, and the offense carried the load once again. The Giants drew 11 walks in this game, and came through with some big hits in key situations. Smyly had to leave the game in the 5th inning even though he was pitching well. He had struck out seven Rangers in four innings, but exited the game because of an index finger sprain on his pitching hand. On Sunday, Jeff Samardzija got the start and got hit hard. His fastball velocity was down again, and he continued a troubling trend of not striking anybody out. On the season he has as many strikeouts (2) as home runs allowed. Samardzija became the first Giants starter to pitch at least five innings, but that accomplishment didn't mean great results. The Giants fell behind 5-1, but managed to come back in the 6th and 7th. Even Longoria hit a long home run to lead off the 7th, then Chadwick Tromp hit his first career homer, a two-run shot that tied the game. In the bottom of the 7th Andrew Triggs, called up after Smyly was placed on the 10-day injured list, couldn't find the strike zone. He threw just two strikes as he walked the bases loaded. Tyler Anderson came in to face a couple of lefties and ended up serving up a three-run homer to Joey Gallo after a run had already scored. The Rangers took a 9-5 lead that would be the final score. Also discussed today was the Giants' trade of Billy Hamilton to the New York Mets for right-handed pitching prospect Jordan Humphreys. Humphreys was designated for assignment by the Mets a few days prior to the trade. On the surface, it looks like another solid trade for Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, who turned a one-year minor league signing who wasn't even on the team into a decent prospect. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick talks about last night's 5-3 loss against the Padres. After there was some controversy about why Jeff Samardzija didn't appear in the opening series against the Dodgers, he finally made his season debut last night and it was easy to see why the Giants held him back. From the very first pitch, Samardzija lacked stuff and command, and eventually the Padres got the best of him. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a three-run, opposite-field home run early in the game, and it prompted many to wonder whether Oracle Park is playing differently because the Giants have closed off the openings in the right field wall to prevent fans from gathering on the boardwalk in right to catch a glimpse of the game. Shortly afterward Wil Myers, who has played extremely well at Oracle Park in his Padres career, launched an impressive two-run homer to center field against Samardzija, which gave the Padres a lead they would not relinquish. The Giants got an impressive three-inning relief appearance from Conner Menez, who retired every batter he faced, but the could not capitalize on some late rallies. Former Giant Drew Pomeranz shut the door in the 9th for the Padres.Ben discusses the fact that the Giants could call up Joey Bart today, but that remains unlikely for a number of reasons. Among them is the fact that Tyler Heineman has been one of the Giants' lone offensive bright spots, so production at the catcher positions has not been one of the Giants' many early season issues. Also, catcher Chadwick Tromp was called up yesterday and the Giants would like to see what they have in the 24-year-old Arubian. He'll likely play mostly in a platoon with Heineman for the time being, but it's worth monitoring the organization's position on the readiness of Bart, who's arguably their best prospect.cbdMDOur friends at cbdMD have an amazing duo that can help you relax, regroup, and recharge when life gets chaotic. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
On today's Locked On Giants Podcast, host Ben Kaspick answers questions from fans on Twitter. Among the questions answered, Ben talks about when the Giants may (or may not) call up top prospect Joey Bart. The team must wait until July 29 if they want to ensure that Bart won't gain a full year of service time in 2020, which could allow him to reach free agency after the 2025 season as opposed to the 2026 season. However, even if the Giants call up Bart on July 29 or later, if the 2020 season ends up getting cancelled afterwards, it is possible that Bart would be granted a year of service time anyway. Another question asked and answered is about Jeff Samardzija. While his ERA was good in 2019, his peripheral numbers suggest that massive regression could be coming, and this could be an issue as "The Shark" hopes to work as a traditional starter who pitches deep into games. This could cause conflict with new manager Gabe Kapler, who probably won't let a struggling starter eat innings that could be more effectively managed with relief pitcher alternatives. Kapler has expressed a willingness to respect his players' wishes, while balancing an analytical approach. It will be fascinating to watch how it plays out in Samardzija's case. Ben also answers a question about what the Giants are likely to do at this year's trading deadline, which is August 31. Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi was extremely active at last year's deadline, and fans should expect the same in 2020, assuming the season is still being played. The Giants could have desirable trade pieces in Kevin Gausman and Drew Smyly, in addition to under-the-radar, controllable bullpen arms like Trevor Gott and Tyler Rogers. As Ben explains, bullpen pieces on a retooling team are non-essential, and if those players can be flipped for starting caliber position players or starting pitchers, that may benefit the Giants in the long run. In essence, bullpen arms can help contending teams win in the postseason, but they don't necessarily lead teams to the postseason. Also discussed is the bullpen hierarchy. Although many annointed Tony Watson the heir apparent to Will Smith when he departed in free agency, the Giants may have more talented relievers in Trevor Gott and Tyler Rogers. Rogers's 2019 season was spectacular, and he was looking sharp again in spring training and summer camp. He "opened" a game against the Oakland A's on Tuesday, and it's possible he could do the same on occasion during the regular season. The Giants are likely to go with a bullpen by committee approach at least to start the year, as they don't necessarily have a bunch of established guys in the 'pen. However, that doesn't mean they can't match up and make things difficult on their opponents. cbdMD Our friends at cbdMD have an amazing duo that can help you relax, regroup, and recharge when life gets chaotic. Take it away! (Extra info! Azerbajdzjan på kyrilliska: Азербайдзян)

The surging Giants just completed a 3 game sweep of the division-leading Diamondbacks in Arizona behind timely hitting and phenomenal pitching from their staff. All told, the Giants have won 10 of their last 12 and find themselves only 2 1/2 back of Arizona in a virtual tie with the Dodgers. After the final 3 games on this road trip in Colorado, the Giants return home once again for 10 games before the All-Star break. The Giants currently have the best home record in the NL, so home cooking should be good to close out the first half. Eric and Chad discuss the latest successful homestand, walk-offs by Pence and Crawford, incredible pitching from their rookies and Bumgarner, and how the Giants will handle both Samardzija and Cueto coming back to the rotation, given the great performances from Suarez and Rodriguez. In fact, the Giants are 8-2 in their last 10 combined starts (2.62 ERA). We also talk about who's hot and not, this date in Giants history, and the All-Star game vote here in Episode #146 of the TortureCast, the podcast by and for fans of the San Francisco Giants.

But it’s not *just* about Belt, even though this is the Beltcast. Bryan and Sami are awestruck by how well the pitching staff has held up in the absence of Bumgarner and Samardzija. What's going on with Johnny Cueto's changeup? And how does the new coaching staff seem to be impacting Bruce Bochy's decision-making? Also, we explore Sami's ability to pick the right picks to click and we answer some of your Twitter questions. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

When something is new in your life, it generally symbolizes a start. Think about any starting line – the emotions, expectations, uncertainty that come with it. Some people are made for the starting line. They thrive in this nervous energy, they bubble with excitement, they know that the finish line is out there, but they just love the first few steps. I’m not sure if people are born this way, if it’s genetically wired into them or if this ability to embrace and THRIVE in the starting line is a result of our upbringing. Either way, there are people in this world who were made to start things. People who were made to nurture and maintain. And people who were made to help finish and move along. Some magical people can do it all. Meet the incredibly talented young entrepreneur, Katarina Samardzija. Kat is a 20-year-old junior in college who had an idea and decided to hit Start. Her business is called Locker Lifestyle - she is solving a problem that she and her friends encountered when they would go to the gym. All they really needed was a way to carry their essentials without lugging bulky bags or bringing purses that could be stolen. So she created what she calls the Wrist Locker to tote around her ID, keys and even a phone without ever leaving her arm. When I was introduced to Kat, I knew immediately that she is a very special person who will not only find her own happiness and success, but I believe she will help many others find theirs too. I share something in common with her. We are both fantastic starters. When you create a business out of nothing, you enter the startup phase. It’s a phase full of intense clarity, the kind of energy that keeps you awake at night, not because you’re worried but because you are so excited. Your adrenals are pumping like crazy. Every small win feels like you won the Ironman. Everything you learn on a daily basis gives you a literal buzz. Until your brain and your body and your energy just can’t take in much more! Kat Samardzija is a starter. You will hear it in her voice. You will feel it through the airwaves. But she is also incredibly mature, incredibly disciplined and incredibly smart. Much more mature and disciplined at 20 than I was when I started Skirt Sports at 32. I think we just may find that Kat is one of those rare magical beings who can start, nurture, and finish, all with grace, compassion and panache. Today we talk about: Kat's upbringing: Watching her mom work hard taught her the power of the "hustle" How being an athlete formed the foundation for success as an entrepreneur Millennial generation: Why they get a bad rap Locker Lifestyle: How she started her business and where she wants to go Discipline and other keys to success The importance of connecting: Never stop making friends. I’m sure you’re feeling the same emotion I am: Impressed. Who is this 20 year old future business phenom? Who is this woman who is clearly showing such beyond-her-years leadership ability? Don’t forget this name: Katarina Samardzija. She is going places! So much of this interview contains such valuable advice for any of us. My favorite, because remember I’m a starter AND a connector is her final nugget: Never stop making friends. And on that note, get over to the Skirt Sports Facebook page for the Dec 2 post about this episode for a chance to win a Head Locker headband that can store your necessities by Kat’s company, Locker Lifestyle. All you have to do is answer this question, "What is your greatest strength?" All right everyone, let’s call it a day. I hope you enjoyed this episode. Please share it with friends and don’t forget to write a review on iTunes – it helps the show gain exposure and we all know we can use a little more inspiration in our lives. Okay then, you know what time it is. It’s time to get out and Run This World. Have a great workout and I’ll see you next week!
Thoughts and more importantly effort need to be sent to Houston. I look at ways to not screw up optics. Then I implore the Giants to trade Jeff Samardzija to one of 5 teams who could be desperate for a decent but not great pitcher.
MLB.com StatCast writer Mike Petriello joins the show to talk about what Eric Hosmer has done to turn his season around, why Jeff Samardzija is underrated, the relevance of hitting with runners in scoring position when evaluating players, and much more. Ben and Tom join John in wondering how to pronounce Scooter Gennett's surname, whether anyone saw his four homers under that came uni, and to dig deep on the roasting hot Houston Astros. Corey and Brendan sum up the recent four-game series against the Giants and, in particular, discuss a potential reunion with Jeff Samardzija.
Baseball pitching motion troubleshooter Angel Borrelli discusses what pitchers should be doing in the offseason. Trending topics: the mechanical flaws that should be corrected during the offseason by Noah Synergaard, Alberto Osuna, and Jeff Samardzija. Teaching Moment: when pitchers should start throwing if they participate in a fall season, and what pitchers should be doing in the gym during the offseason. Location Segment: putting it all together -- an efficient motion will result in good deception, location, and peak velocity.
The Cubs take game two over the Giants, thanks in large part to a surprise contribution from Travis Wood. We look at what happened and give instant reaction, talking about Jeff Samardzija, Wood's homer, Kyle Hendricks' early exit, and looking ahead to the Bumgarner/Arrieta matchup in game three and the likelihood of the Cubs closing out the series. If you like these quick takes, please leave us a rating and review! Ben and Adam are at it again, this time talking about how the Giants are much better than their early season record. It was an ugly start to the week, with the Giants getting swept in a four game series at home, but they’ve rebounded nicely, winning three of four, with Cueto and Samardzija going […]
In our 102nd podcast, Eric and Chad break down the second week of the 2016 season that saw the Giants go 2-4 while our livers broke down even more. Our G-men dropped 2 of 3 in each city of Denver and LA, but not all is lost as we look at the positives of Samardzija’s and Cueto’s starts. Posey snapped his 18 AB hitless streak, Romo and Adrianza went on the DL, Duffy’s slump, Derek Law made his dad very happy, we share our concerns about Peavy and Lopez, how Samardzija met his wife, and Vin Scully’s dulcet tones as he recounts how MadBum and his wife saved a rabbit from a rattlesnake’s belly. On today’s episode of Trend Following Radio Michael starts off discussing his travel. One of his stops in early December was New York City to meet up with a few legends, one of them being Larry Hite. He talks a bit about their lunch conversation and how Larry has climbed the ladder of success. Larry paints the picture that he was just an average Joe from Brooklyn, and his success is fully obtainable if the right desire and drive is there.Today's subject on Trend Following Radio goes along the lines of the rest of his conversation with Larry Hite. It’s all about the data. Michael makes it clear that his career would not exist if he did not have the opportunity to dig into the trend following data. You see all types of trend following traders up in the same months and down in the same months–that means something. Doesn’t matter why it happened, just that it happened. Further, many make the mistake of not caring about the psychological. You can have the best system under the sun, but if you don’t have the psychological toughness to carry it out then the system does not matter.Michael goes on to read from an article out of The Washington Post titled, “Jeff Samardzija just proved athletes would be foolish to pick NFL over MLB.” America’s favorite sport is football, hands down. The dream of just about every father in America is for his son to play professional football. However, all data says to stop right now and turn your focus to baseball. The article states, “The top 30 contracts in the history of team sports – ranked by total compensation – all went to baseball players.” When you compare average players in the MLB with top players in the NFL, the MLB still comes out on top. “Through this season, [Calvin] Johnson will have collected $113,816,086 in earnings, making him one of the wealthiest non-quarterbacks in league history. Samardzija, by virtue of the five-year contract he just signed with the San Francisco Giants, is guaranteed to have earnings of $122,725,000 – and have another chance to dip into the till in 2021, when he’ll turn 36.” Mike pulls the article back to trend following showing that trend following numbers have made it and persevered through ups and downs. It may not be the most widely known strategy, but the data is real. In this episode of Trend Following Radio: The success of Larry Hite Baseball vs. Football Trusting the data
The Giants signed two big starting pitchers, and their names don't start with a G. Willie and Chad talk about how Samardzija and Cueto make the Giants better than last year and how the Dodgers got worse. Oh, and the Warriors lost their first game of the season.
Why won't the top free agents take the Giants' money? Does Buster Posey have something to do with it? Bryan and Doug investigate. They also talk about the oddness of the GM meetings, the uncertainty of Jeff Samardzija, the promise of Jason Heyward, Justin Upton's likely price tag, and play a game called "James Brown or Record Scratch"... what's it all about? You'll just have to listen. Also, a score update from last week's game, "AAV": Bryan correctly guessed Samardzija's $18 million AAV and was within $1.2 million of Zack Greinke's $34.5 average annual value. Bryan leads Doug, 2-0. It's a best of 5 and the winner gets to write a roast piece on the loser's hottest/worst takes ever. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
It's the dog days of September, and the White Sox are in the middle of their regularly-scheduled playing out the string, which means:-Only so much Samardzija left!-Carlos Rodon and Erik Johnson could be the future of the new Sox rotation that is waiting for an offense to back it up.-How will the Sox upgrade at third, second, right field, DH, etc? Beyond Mike Olt, that is? Is Adam LaRoche ever hitting again?-Does Avisail have a future in the Sox core?Join James Fegan, Matt Adams and Ethan Spalding as they update the state of the White Sox
The Sox killed off the last traces of their optimism with a bad series against Kansas City, where their putrid offense, awful baserunning and shaky managing were all on full display.Ethan, Nick and James got together to review the trouble on display this past weekend, and look at what lies ahead now that everyone understands the Sox playoff dreams are dashed.–Full playing time for Tyler Saladino? Keeping watching Avisail Garcia spiral down? When do we see Erik Johnson already?–Is trading Samardzija the only move the Sox have at the deadline? Would trading Jose Quintana be more likely to bring back a real bat?–What is the future for the so-called “three-year window?”
Kenny Ducey talks to Jason Wojciechowski (@jlwoj) of ESPN.com about the highly-competitive AL West, now featuring Jeff Samardzija, and some other items including Colby Lewis complaining.

Sure, it's easy to discuss the amazing winlessness of Cubs ace Jeff Samardzija, but what exactly is going to happen when Samardzija gets traded and actually has to face real pressure for the first time since he was playing WR at Notre Dame.

Chet Coppock and Hollywood Del Yates debate whether the Cubs should pay Jeff Samardzija to stick around or trade him for a king's ransom sometime before July. In the end, Del makes a compelling case that Theo should trade Mr. Samardzija and then hide from the Chicago media for a couple years until it pays off.
