Former Phillies Manager, Ruben Amaro Jr calls in to discuss the Phillies big moves yesterday!
It's the MLB trade deadline! Let's go! The Washington Nationals actually traded Juan Soto! I cannot believe it! The San Diego Padres will send most of their top prospects in what could be the biggest deal ever. (22:50) What happened with Eric Hosmer? He would not waive his no-trade clause. Instead of being sent to the Nationals, he was dealt to the Red Sox. (32:55) The Yankees made some big moves at the trade deadline. Frankie Montas from the A's, Lou Trivino from the A's, Scott Effross from the Cubs, Andrew Benintendi and Harrison Bader. Maybe the biggest move was moving Joey Gallo to the Dodgers. (37:55) Why do some teams hold onto players when they can be traded? What is the positive? Is it worth it? (46:00) What did the Mets do? Mets fans are so angry. Why? (47:30) Are the Angels awake? And if they are awake, what are they doing? Ohtani is still an Angel. Mike Trout is still an Angel. But they traded away Iglesias, Syndergaard, and Marsh… What!? (50:50) It's time for some viewer questions! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Memorial Day weekend has ended but we have 16 MLB games to dive into. The sun is officially shining everywhere, the summer air is kicking in and it's time to really kick back and watch some baseball. The guys start the show by giving out the best teams in May. Ryan chooses the rich team from the east coast, New York Yankees as his team of the month and Cody sadly agrees that the Yankees are the team of the month in May for the American League. For the National League, Cody goes with his hometown team Los Angeles Dodgers and praises Mookie Betts as he is playing some of the best baseball in his career. Ryan differs from Cody with the National League and goes into how much he is loving his Brewers. This leads to a big discussion to watch out for Josh Hader for the National League Cy Young. Come listen for a full month of May rundown. Ryan reminds us that he got a lot of sun yesterday and is feeling good. Summer feels very good and we would all like an apology just from anyone for the only day game today to be the Tigers against the Minnesota Twins. Cody says Twins it's run line or nothing in this early day game. The big series of the week that the guys are really into is the Yankees against the Angels. The guys go into how the Angels need some wins to catch up to the Astros in their series and have Syndergaard on the mound. Both Cody and Ryan love the Angels with a plus moneyline. Ryan has a favorite bet in the White Sox game that you just have to listen too in order to get. Tune in and make some money with us. We start this segment off with Ryan admitting that the Philadelphia Phillies are absolutely dead to him in every single way. That is why Ryan is fading the Phillies today at all cost. Cody goes even deeper and asks if the person that put together this moneyline is drunk because the Phillies are favored. Cody is rattled but loves it, the Giants are plus money which you really love to see. Here we go Giants. As a show, it still is fade the Reds at all costs and we continue that against the Red Sox. The guys do have some stay away games for the week, to start it off the Cardinals vs Padres game is a stay away for MLB betters and just appreciate some good baseball. Cody goes on and tells the city of Chicago to prepare for a very very tough week for the Cubs with their series against the Brewers. Cubs fans, please stay strong. As we talk more about the games today, Cody finds something exciting for everyone to watch for, homeruns. Ryan and Cody are hitting their home run props left and right so they have 2 just for YOU. Matt Leonard, Joshua Umahi and Anthony Deus break down the Rangers big game 7 win, Syndergaard returning to New York (but in the Bronx), the state of the First Place Mets, and the upcoming NBA Finals.

This week the boys discuss the upcoming 2022 Hall of Fame ballot and the new faces we'll see for the first time and the old ones we'll see for possibly the very last time. They debate whether certain players should be inducted over others. After, they hire themselves as General Managers of four Major League franchises to turn them around and discuss the moves they would make and how each roster would shape out. Spoiler alert, they're much better off in the boys' hands then they are right now! They round out the show with Collection Corner.
Sal and Mike talk about Noah Syndergaard's return to the mound from Tuesday night, and how it's more than likely that he'll be back in orange and blue in 2022. Did they see enough from him to warrant an $18M price tag with the qualifying offer? They also discuss Stroman's great season, and how it was generally pretty underrated. Is he someone that the team should be looking to lock-up as well this offseason as questions loom regarding the pitching staff moving forward? Lastly, MMO's very own John Flanigan comes on to discuss his time at Pete Alonso's home run event in New York. John talks about what he saw, and his time speaking to the Mets star first baseman, as well as some mammoth home runs which were hit by New Yorkers from age 12-16!
- Toronto / NY / Boston are all 8 GB of Tampa in the East... all tied for the WC positions, with Oakland 3.5GB, and Seattle 4. Current thoughts on the AL WC race? - Who do you like better out of the White Sox and Astros? - Tampa Bay leads the Majors in run scored. Talk about the efficiency of their roster construction. - In the National League, St. Louis has won 5 in a row, and is now a game up on San Diego for the 2nd Wild Card, with Cincinnati only 1.5 GB. Who do you see reaching the post-season there? - What do you think MLB fans should be aware with the coming CBA negotiations? Or what interests you the most? - We've talked about potential short-term acquisitions the Orioles could target this off-season. (Michael Pineda, Zach Davies, Carlos Martinez, Eduardo Rodriguez, Simmons, Syndergaard, Alex Wood.) Give me a trade target or two. You'd have on your radar.
- Who's the most talented player on the Orioles current roster? - Mike Baumann made his ML debut Tuesday and got the win. Baumann joined other 'Group of '10' starters Zac Lowther, Keegan Akin, and Alex Wells on the current ML roster. Set the over / under on how many Group of 10 arms are on the ML roster to begin '22? Do you think it's fair to say '20 impacted development of some of them, or is that a crutch? Group of 10: Akin / Kremer / Baumann / Lowther / Zimmermann / Wells / Bradish / Smith / Rom / Knight - There are a number of high end SS's available this off-season. We also talked last week about Andrelton Simmons being available as a dependable glove. If the Orioles won't pursue any of the stars, would you advocate for Simmons over Mateo, or the O's pursuing a blocked prospect elsewhere? - Project the contracts... Michael Pineda, Zach Davies, Carlos Martinez, Eduardo Rodriguez, Simmons, Syndergaard, Alex Wood - Tampa Bay continues to lead the AL East. Boston is the 1st Wild Card. New York has lost 5 straight, and Toronto has won 7 in a row to pull within a 1.5 of the Yankees. Seattle and Oakland, are also within 3 games of NY. Do the Yanks hold on, or get overtaken? - If the Dodgers don't overtake the Giants in the AL West, they will be one of the Wild Cards. San Diego is currently the 2nd WC, with the Reds 1 GB, and the Phillies, Cards, and Mets within 4.5 games. Who gets the 2nd WC in the National League? - Again, what's the cutoff on how many teams you believe can win the World Series?
LIVE at 8pm ET, The Metsian Podcast braintrust ponders what it could take for this Mets team to get back into the conversation after an 11-game swing in the standinsgs in only 22 days. Can returning injured players such as Javy Baez and Francisco Lindor give enough of a boost to get the offense moving in the right direction? With Jacob deGrom most likely out for the season, do we even stand a chance? What can be expected from a returning Syndergaard? Was Steve Cohen right to call his offense out publicly via Twitter? So many questions on this Metsian offnight, so little time...join us LIVE at 8!
LIVE at 9pm ET, the Metsian team gets together for a June briefing of your Metropolitans. The Mets have weathered the injury bug to have the most commanding division lead in the Majors currently. While Alonso and Pillar return to immediately contribute, Conforto, Davis and Nimmo may be ways away. Along with Syndergaard's setback and Carrasco being pushed back, the Mets can't seem to get healthy (not to mention Villar's pulled hammy yesterday.) Still, timely hitting and superb pitching have held the opposition at bay. The ReplaceMets have filled in admirably, helping to keep the winning culture building. We'll talk about that and more, including our opinion of the YouTube broadcast and some underperforming pieces of the team (which is starting to not include Lindor or Dom Smith.) So, join us LIVE at 9pm ET for the latest edition of The Metsian Podcast!
